  1. Not sure why this isn't allowed but it would be great to be able to set a range for the "rate" cvar. I understand there is rate-stepping but that isn't my point. People should start off with a reasonable minimum since players still connect with low rates because of the installer they chose to use. I don't want new players asking why they are lagging or leaving because of this before the rate steps up. I hate to use the John Oliver/Justin Trudeau fallacy but, "It's 2017, cmon!" People have modern connections that can handle the 25000 rate.

  3. I unbanned him and he got banned immediately when he connected, as we are on voice chat. He says it bans him whenever he uses alt+enter. Here's the settings for anticheat: set g_silentac "3" set g_clientBinaries "6" set g_identOptions "31"I tried g_identOptions of 30, 28 and 24 and it didn't resolve the issue.
  4. A player from my server who's new to the game got banned by silent AC and he says that he didn't cheat. How can I confirm it was a false positive and not a cheat? I keep explaining to him it says "detected game hack and he keeps claiming it's "for no reason". Normally, we would obviously ignore that. I want him to see what the mod developer says or if there's a way to determine exactly which cheat he was caught with.. or present the technical evidence. Here's what it says in the log: 2017-10-27 17:31:04 ACR: Player keobi silEnT GUID (83B7CAFA21E96FEB0FDC4234D568ECF7) IP (x.x.x.x) banned for detected game hack A friend of mine from IoW says that on 0.9.0 a player got banned for "detected game hack" for putting a cfg file in his folder.
  5. Yeah freecam would be cool. I'm trying to change the font for the obituraries and the print that appears under the crosshair in the middle of the screen showing who you killed using pk3s containing modified fonts. I'm not sure how it's done in etpub so I'm pretty much stuck there too.
  6. Is there any way to make these so that only the kills of the player being spectated (the player which the demo is from) are displayed? This means, no picking up packs or server banners or anything else. http://i.imgur.com/TVsXM9t.png Also are there any plans or possibilities for silentmod to be more "movie compatible". For example the possibility of changing the fonts. Currently it's not the same method as etpro, is there a way? I noticed that teh console font did change but not the font for obiturary and centerprint text. Since most of the population of ET does play silent I think there would be a good chance that some of them are great in movie making. Currently movie making is only convenient in etpro. This mostly not being the fault of silentmod, but that ImageET and moviemod were made for etpro. Right now I have the silent pk3 and cgame in the moviemod folder and I'm attempting to configure the game in a way that it will be close to the etpro movies or exactly the same if possible. Thanks
  7. We both know what's really going on here and I won't even post it because they'll just delete my reply anyway. Not really, the other person who reproduced it was told he's lying if you remember. Anyway I was just posting what we had found after several hours of frustration in hopes to find a solution and so anyone who comes by later can find a solution too. I don't know why you would think anyone would waste their time asking for help with something they're "making up".
  8. I know far too many details to even bother arguing the first part but let's keep talking about the gun. Everyone always claims it has more, I argued it at first but gave up telling them it's the same. I never actually tested it, my thoughts it was the same was based on using it and seeing it in-game. I said that decent shots stand right in front of you and get headshots that do massive damage. The reason they do massive damage is because by default headshots do more in ET and the PPSH has increased damage so that means when someone DOES get a headshot it's even MORE damage only because that's how ET works. Notice I said "headshots that do massive damage" and not "the headshots do more damage".
  9. Me and nobody else? Two people on the forum confirming it and it was tested at blacklotus, ovh, softlayer and nfo on dedis and vds and all the same issue. Then you said that we were lying about trying it on these hosts.. Real polite approach. OP maybe try setting up a default silentmod server with g_spectator at default value as well, going into spectator with NO players on a team and clicking mouse1. Maybe if you can be the THIRD person to reproduce this error they will finally acknowledge it and multiple problems can be resolved.
  10. I never said the headshot damage is different. Using "just for the record" before a statement doesn't make sense when the statement is your opinion. It's fine if you think that I can't handle myself in a pub, but you'd be mistaken. I agree the sound of the gun throws me off after 12 years of ET but it's a minor issue and doesn't really change the balance of gameplay. It's a unique flavor added to silent to help make it stand out even more against other mods. NQ did the same kind of thing with custom guns. I have no problem with custom guns that aren't op. I can score top stats in pubs without using any adren or OP ppsh, I don't need any "oh this is an emotional thing because madcuzbad". I realize that it's for public play, but that doesn't mean people prefer unbalanced gameplay. Luckily, we have the choice to change the damage of the PPSH and I'm grateful for that. I was only giving my opinion on the fact that the PPSH overpowers the traditional SMG play of ET. It would be less overpowered if available for medics but still OP nonetheless. And I totally agree with you, the players don't know what they're doing more often than not. The offensive teams don't know how to push and there is such variance of skill level, almost never any voice comm (but who needs this in pubs?) and lastly alot of players don't even know the maps on pubs. The only issue I have is that worse players are being rewarded for abusing an overpowered default rather than having to work their way up the ranks like the other players. He asked for opinions and I gave mine, what's the problem? We have it enabled on our server in-fact due to the fact people like the weapon.
  11. Yea, the PPSH has always been an overpowered game breaker in silent. I wish it was never added. Lowering the damage a bit on it seems to help but it's hard to get usefulness out of the PPSH while still removing the overpowered aspect. "medics already have health packs" is a totally irrelevant argument. Basically the ppsh was added because of FA admins who dislike medics, like many pub servers they don't understand game mechanics. Medics may have packs but they lack things that other classes have. This obvious tradeoff is what has made ET so balanced over the years. Whenever you want an example of balance you take a look at the etpro certified configs. I'm not saying pubs should be just like scrim settings, just that it's an example of what is BALANCED and a good idea to follow as far as balancing decisions. The PPSH needs to be lower damage than the SMG since it has more rounds and high spread. People with bad aim stand across the map and annihilate good players. They are getting lucky shots from a super far range and not really earning their frags. Decent shots stand right in front of you and get headshots that do massive damage and you die before you can do anything. The gun seems underpowered for a skilled player, compared to an mp40. I recommend to you a value of 17 or 18.

  13. I've also noticed this and no matter how many times I change it to akimbos it does the same thing. Some people on TS report the same issues and others say it stays on akimbos. I noticed this problem on RC when I first started playing there and about a month later the problem stopped on it's own. I started playing on ETF and now the same issue.
  14. thanks, I thought the bans were saved in a sqlite file but it must have been another mod. The next issue is that I only have the last 8 of the GUID. This won't work for a ban, correct?
