problems to connect on our silent snipers server

for somes of us been impossible to connect

we had the message awiting gamestate or I stuck when I try to connect at loading and the loading never finish

this happened only on our silent server cuz when I connect to FA silent I don't have these problems at all

That is incorrect, Getting stuck in Awaiting gamestate is not silEnT mod related. Your mixing it with the getting disconnected for unknwn reason kick. Which can happen to new connections at the end of the warmup only, and which is a known bug. But completely different and easily resolved by the user by clicking reconnect. Do note, the mod ony kicks people, the engine handles all connection related things.

Means stop using rcon tool or HLSW  or any another tool in background and then try connecting to your server. Also make sure you are only connecting with one process i.e. one ET.exe and not 2 ET.exe. 

 

Let me know if that resolves the issue.

I use qtracker to connect but just after I close it and strange when I used the rcon command with qtracker I had could not exec silent .cfg

I did a full server restart to can  connect and after the rcon command working fine and I  used et exe like an admin first

I have never heard of a bug that causes it. Though I am not disputing that this has been happening and is a valid reason for this thread. Also, like I already explained, it couldn't be a mod bug if such bug exists.

So issue resolved? If your server is up for long run then commands send through rcon tool wouldn't be responded back because I think there is an issue in ET 3.00. Even I have faced same issue on my hardcore server.

 

But if you use qtracker and connect at same time then you might be sending connection packets more then xx times within xx seconds and hence you are facing that issue. 

 

I would suggest to join server first then minimize ET and then start any tool to use rcon on your server. This way you wouldn't exceed packets / second.

@gaoesa : I talk about this behavior :

 

 

In this case, you don't receive the "getting disconnected for unknwn reason". You stay on the LOADING screen, and are just able to open console (and type exit xD).

 

Is it mod related or engine bug ?

Not to bump, but can confirm this happens on our servers as well.

I would really like to be able to reproduce the issue on myself. This could be the DDOS protection in server engine or server firewall, and for some cases it probably is, but with this frequency, it could also be some sort of client side problem. Combined with the other thread. Any information on how to reproduce would be appreciated. Client engine versions etc.

I got some additional information from clan DIABOLIK and remembered that this is the kind of issue that came from a failed attempt to fix the "warmup kick" in the engine. I know that at least in some point it (the bad fix) was added in to the ET 3.00. I wonder if that is the reason for some of the cases here.

 

I take blame since I posted the non working thing to these forums. I can't find it anymore.

I have just learned that with ET Legacy, on top of the crash bug they have, it also generates server timed out kicks that are automatic and instant when connecting. I would like to know if there is a higher frequency for the timeout issue with players using ET Legacy? I still haven't been able to reproduce anything of the sort.

This is engine related issue and is happening since release of Vista.

 

This happens many times when you download new map or pk3's. When do you notice this issue?

I'm on windows 8.1 and it happens on my first connect to the server. It happens with ET:L and Vanilla Wolfenstein. Regardless If I already have the map or not it'll still happen.
