Despite the fact that unsecured data could lead to large fines under GDPR, new research has revealed that unencrypted USB devices are still widely used by businesses. According to new research from the global security firm ESET and Kingston Technology, 55 percent of businesses don't encrypt their removable devices which could potentially leave them exposed to data leaks. Cybersecurity specialist at ESET, Jake Moore provided further insight on the research's findings, saying: “With GDPR one-year milestone just a month away, it is interesting to see what businesses are doing differently to protect themselves from cyber security issues and fines. The survey reveals that companies are still not adequately protected from data leaks as this level of unencrypted devices means anyone can access personal data without security clearances. This poses significant security concerns for firms that do not have the processes in place to ensure their data is safe. One of the ways to do this is through the use of encryption. However, the survey reveals that password protection is still widely used amongst businesses even though it lacks in sophistication.” Security becoming one of the top workplace worriesHalf of organizations lack the security talent needed to remain secureTackling cybercrime with a culture of securityUnencrypted removable devicesESET and Kingston surveyed over 500 British business leaders to learn how they are protecting their companies from cyber threats that may be harmful to their organizations. In addition to revealing that businesses aren't encrypting their removable devices, the survey also found that 62 percent of executives had seen USB devices in unsecured locations such as desks, drawers or exposed office spaces where an employee or visitor could access them without permission. Companies can better protect their infrastructure and possibly even their reputations by making a small investment into encrypted USB drives. Ahead of its upcoming Build conference later this month, Microsoft has announced the HoloLens 2 Development Edition to help jump-start developers mixed reality efforts. The company first unveiled the second edition of its mixed reality headset at this year's Mobile World Congress though the device has yet to ship out to developers. As of now, we know that HoloLens 2 will launch later this year with the Development Edition arriving alongside the standard version of the headset. The HoloLens 2 Development Edition will cost $3,500 to buy outright or developers can choose to pay $99 per month with Microsoft's installment plan. Microsoft HoloLens 2 brings even more VR powerToshiba’s AR smart glasses that rival HoloLens are now on saleMicrosoft’s HoloLens to lead the growth of mixed reality devicesThe Development Edition does not include any special hardware or different features from the retail version of the HoloLens 2 but instead includes $500 in Azure credits as well as a three-month trial of Unity Pro and Unity PiXYZ plugin to help bring engineering renderings into Unity. HoloLens 2 Development EditionThose interested in purchasing the Development Edition of the HoloLens 2 will first have to join the Microsoft Mixed Reality Developer Program by signing up on its site. However, those who have already pre-ordered the standard edition will be able to change their order later this year. The news that the Development Edition will cost $3,500 could be a sign that the regular edition could release at a lower price point once it's available for purchase later this year. GM of Industrial at Unity, Tim McDonough explained what developers will be able to achieve by pairing HoloLens 2 with its platform in a blog post, saying: “Pairing HoloLens 2 with Unity’s real-time 3D platform enables industrial businesses to create immersive, interactive experiences that accelerate business and reduce costs. The addition of Unity Pro and the PiXYZ Plugin makes it easy to import 3D design data in minutes rather than hours. The addition of Unity Pro and PiXYZ Plugin to HoloLens 2 Development Edition gives businesses the immediate ability to create real-time 2D, 3D, VR, and AR interactive experiences while allowing for the importing and preparation of design data to create real-time experiences.” Microsoft also revealed that Unreal Engine 4 support for HoloLens 2 will be available by the end of May. Just as you get used to shelling out every month for a Netflix subscription, someone like Disney has to turn around and announce a competing streaming service. Let’s face it, there are a lot of TV streaming platforms now: While Netflix carved the way, the likes of Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO Go and more have flooded the market, giving viewers more avenues for on-demand content than ever. Disney murmured about a possible streaming service for much of 2018, with an official announcement only coming in April of this year. Originally called ‘Disney Play’, the Disney Plus service is set to launch in late 2019, and it will almost certainly make a splash. A lot of you may wonder whether Disney Plus will be worth an additional subscription fee, or switching over entirely from your Netflix account. That will probably come down to your budget and the sort of titles you’re after – and we’re still several months from Disney Plus launch either way. In the meantime though, we’re here to run through everything you need to know about the pair of them. Disney Plus vs Netflix: basic overviewNetflix and Disney Plus are both on-demand streaming services for watching TV shows and films. Netflix is the one to beat for any new challenger entering the fray, with a whopping 140 million subscribers worldwide and a hugely broad content library. There are now plenty of other streaming services online (Hulu, HBO Go, Amazon Prime Video), but none have carved out quite as much of the market as Netflix, which has become a home for original drama, comedy specials, kids’ TV and animation, and a wide range of other genres. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/PRF4ickpbct3LSCjC6Z8BY.jpg Image Credit: Netflix Netflix has however relied on a lot of classic TV shows which get increasingly expensive to license – Friends, The Office, etc – and is having to learn more on its own attempts at original programming, with billions plunged into its Netflix Original productions like Stranger Things and Master of None. The rise of Disney Plus is also removing a lot of Disney-owned content from the service, such as any films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Netflix’s popular Marvel TV shows (Dardevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist). Disney makes serious money (an estimated $300 million) putting its films and properties on Netflix and other services, so it must have pretty high profit forecasts for its own service to so goodbye to those earnings. We spoke to analyst Stephan Paternot, CEO of film finance marketplace Slated, for his take on Disney's prospects, and we're told "Disney will probably utterly dominate across the board", due to the strength of its various subsidiary services like ESPN. "It’s simply breathtaking how well positioned they are with ESPN (leader in live sports), Disney+ (a deep, and growing library of the biggest family friendly franchise brands of all time), and Hulu (which is the closest thing to Netflix and is slowly gaining on them, in part thanks to live and ad-supported tiers)." Paternot also commented on Disney's ability to "cross-monetize" its various brands and assets between film, TV, music and merchandizing giving it a competitive price advantage over Netflix, and therefore the freedom to take bigger financial risks. Disney Plus vs Netflix: price and availabilityTo start, Disney Plus will definitely undercut Netflix on price. Disney Plus will cost $5.99 per month (around £4.60 / AU$8.55) per month or $69.99 per year (£54.70 / AU$99.80) in the US. That's a decent amount under Netflix’s $8.99 (£7.99 / AU$9.99) per month Basic plan. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/K8z6EVFyr5rtMHEiesNqfE.jpg Image Credit: Shutterstock Netflix has three total price tiers, with the Standard plan allowing HD viewing and up to two screens being watched at the same time – while the Premium plan ups this to four screens and UHD / 4K resolution viewing. We haven’t heard anything about pricing tiers for Disney Plus, but we’d be very surprised for the service not to support 4K, and it’s likely this will come at a premium. Other Disney-owned platforms like ESPN+ (and Hulu, which Disney has a 60% stake in) could well be available via a discounted group package, or purchased as individually priced add-ons through the Disney Plus portal. Disney Plus will be launching November 12 in the US, though we expect a wider global rollout shortly after, possibly in the new year. Disney Plus vs Netflix: features and user interfaceWe have little to go on for Disney Plus' interface, aside from the below screenshot Disney shared earlier this year. What we do know, however, is that unlike Netflix's genre-based categories, Disney Plus has buttons for five distinct 'channels' – Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic – and a jumble of content from the channels beneath them. Netflix notably has a trailer auto-playing at the top of its home page, but it looks like Disney plans a rolling banner ad instead. Then again, months ahead of release there's a lot that could change in the meantime. We expect some kind of algorithm for suggesting content on the home page, though the layout makes us think things will be organized by production studio rather than say comedy vs drama or horror. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/YrG3nCzxbUZWdffjjhNQPX.jpg Image Credit: Disney Like Netflix, we know Disney Plus will be available on the usual round of mobile, laptop, and smart TV apps – though a recent Disney presentation also let slip plans to come to Nintendo Switch, which Netflix is still curiously absent from. Disney Plus vs Netflix: contentThe reduced price is largely down to the small content library Disney will have at release. Disney’s CEO Robert Iger stated that “our plan on the Disney side is to price this substantially below where Netflix is. This is in part reflective of the fact that it will have substantially less volume." While Disney has access to a lot of high-profile franchises (Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, etc), it won't have the endless library of content we expect from Netflix (around 6,000 titles). We should however get every Disney film ever made on the service, possibly from day one: that's everything from the original Snow White and Aladdin movies to the Star Wars films and entirety of Pixar. New Disney films will then be added to the service within the following year after a theatrical release. Disney is also producing a number of new shows for the service, including a live-action Star Wars series written and produced by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book) called The Mandalorian. Not to mention spin-off shows featuring Tom Hiddleston's iconic Marvel trickster, Scarlet Witch and Vision, and possibly Hawkeye. There's clearly plenty of scope for Disney to leverage its existing IP beyond the big screen, while its recent purchase of 20th Century Fox will also bring the entire Simpsons catalogue and more to the service. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/q836pLUsRQTaSaiFNSKPHJ.jpg Image Credit: Disney Therein lies Netflix's greatest problem: franchises. Netflix licenses a lot of classic shows like the Office, Friends, and Arrested Development, but is trying to build up a library of original content to avoid difficult licensing negotiations and hefty distribution fees. Paternot suggested Netflix would do fine "in the short to medium run, but were likely to be pushed into a "narrower content lane" as they lose out on Disney-branded franchises. With titles like Orange is the New Black, Master of None, Bojack Horseman, and GLOW on the Netflix platform, however, there are still some real must-watch titles not going anywhere. Not to mention over 100 Emmy nominations for various shows, and recent Oscars for last year's incredible Roma. Netflix as a whole can feel like a matter of quantity over quality, but there are enough high-profile shows and variety to ensure most viewers will remain catered for. TakeawayIt's hard to say for sure before Disney Plus is officially released, but it's clear that Disney's streaming service will have some high-quality titles, both new and old, to attract fans to the service. The monthly subscription price is already pretty attractive, and gives you a month's worth of content for the price of buying a standalone Disney movie off iTunes or Rakuten TV. But we don't yet know exactly what we're getting for the money, especially if those outside of the US end up getting fewer titles or a less attractive price point. It's likely that Netflix will keep the edge with its sheer number of titles, and therefore more likelihood of having something for each of its users. Even with Disney's various acquisitions, Disney Plus is likely to be more of a niche proposition, and if you're not a die-hard Marvel fan or a parent needing some distracting Disney cartoons, it's hard to see Disney Plus becoming part of your daily routine in the same way as Netflix. Huawei could be the first company to make an 8K 5G TV - i.e. a TV with an 8K resolution (four times that of a 4KTV) and the next-gen wireless standard capable of gigabit throughput. That’s according to a report from Nikkei Asian Review who spoke to sources familiar with Huawei’s plans. If the product comes to fruition, this would not only be the first TV to integrate the two technologies – a historic first in its own right – but it would be Huawei’s first TV period after years of supplying components to other Chinese TV makers like Hisense, Skyworth and Changhong. What is 5G? Here's everything you need to knowWe also have a round-up of all the upcoming 5G phonesPlus, a hands on review of the first 5G phoneMoreover, not only would this TV be able utilize the 5G spectrum but, according to those sources, it would be able to share that gigabit connection like a wireless router for other devices in your home. According to the sources Nikkei spoke to, it's Huawei's desire to create a TV to complete its ecosystem of products that includes phones, laptops and wearables. The thought is that the final piece of the puzzle could be ready as soon as this year in the country’s home territory of China. Too much of a good thing?Admittedly, an 8K 5G TV sounds like overkill given the current, nearly-nonexistent infrastructure around those two technologies. There are barely any native 8K videos available for consumer viewing at the moment, and 5G is facing some severe limitations here in the American market. Still, this product concept shows that Huawei is thinking about the future - how TVs could finally detach themselves from the cable company completely and the next big step in TV tech - 8K resolution. Of course, until 8K becomes a more concrete technology, that same connection could be useful in streaming 3D and 360-degree videos - both of which need a larger bandwidth than 1080p and 4K content. So are we ready for Huawei's 8K 5G TV today? Maybe not. But it could be the first step towards a future in which 8K 5G TVs aren't the exception, they're the norm. New research from OneLogin has revealed that UK IT leaders are putting their business data at risk by not effectively managing employees' passwords. In conjunction with World Password Day, the Unified Access Management firm surveyed 300 IT decision makers across the UK to uncover their attitudes towards password hygiene and the emphasis placed upon internal policies to protect business networks. Despite the fact that 98 percent of IT decision makers have company guidelines in place around password complexity and 95 percent fell their current password protection measures and guidelines provide adequate protection for their business, OneLogin's research has revealed there is still a lot of work to be done. Empowering CISOs to strengthen password securityGoogle boosts password security with Password Checkup Chrome extensionMajor security issues found in popular password managersOf those surveyed, two thirds (66%) don't check passwords against common password lists and over three quarters (78%) don't check employee passwords against password complexity algorithms. This poor password hygiene is leaving UK businesses vulnerable to cyberattacks. Password hygieneChief technology officer and founder at OneLogin, Thomas Pedersen provided further insight on the firm's password management report, saying: "This report should be a reminder to every business leader in the UK to carefully review their password management. Cybercriminals thrive on companies overlooking fundamental security requirements, which becomes an open invitation for any hacker on the hunt for easy passwords." While the majority of respondents do practice good password hygiene, many indicated that basic fundamentals are often lacking. Fewer than 19 percent check passwords against rainbow tables, over half (51%) don't require special characters and just under half (47%) don't require numbers and upper and lower case characters (37%). OneLogin also found that only 53 percent require single sign-on integration, only 35 percent have implemented password complexity policies and 70 percent have not implemented password rotation policies. Razer, the company behind the impressive Razer Blade laptops, is making a toaster. Though this may not be the first time you've heard this news, this time it appears to be happening for real. It may have started as a joke, but Razer has been backed into a corner by fans pleading for a Razer-branded toaster. Now, the company's CEO, Min-Liang Tan, has announced that it will begin working on a Razer Toaster, CNET reports. The Razer Toaster joke has been ongoing for years. Starting back in 2013, it was furthered along by a Facebook group fervently requesting Razer actually come out with the product. And, in 2016, Razer added fuel to the fire with its Project Breadwinner April Fool's Day prank, which showed off a very Razer-esque design, Razer-logo-emblazoned slices of toast and LED lighting, of course. Check out the best gaming laptopsThese are the best gaming PCsSee how Razer is winning this yearHow we got hereAfter the initial joke, which was a tweet at Tan about making a Razer toaster, a Razer fan named Mark Withers created a Facebook page and applied pressure to Tan about the prospect of the toaster. Tan relented and said the company would make the toaster if Withers could get 1 million likes on the Facebook page. The page has yet to hit a million likes, but has surpassed 40,000 and saw 12 fans brandishing tattoos for the toaster, so Tan officially liked the page himself and had this to say on Facebook: "Alright - I didn't think these guys were going to make it - but they did. It was to hit 1M likes and with each Razer Toaster tattoo being equivalent to 100K likes each....and they now have 12 Razer Toaster tattoos. Well....what can I say. I've just officially liked their page - and I'm going to put together my team of designers and engineers. It will take a few years - but I'll be sure to share the progress - and make it a community affair. A Razer Toaster - For Razer Toaster Lovers. By Razer Toaster Lovers." It sounds like it's going to be a long while before the company releases the toaster, but Tan's comments didn't land on April 1 this time. So, maybe the company isn't kidding this time. The next question: what about Razer Household? That's another Facebook group dedicated to even more Razer-branded household appliances. So far, Tan has this to say, "Guys. I don't know what you guys are up to but this isn't going to happen. Ever." Here are details on Razer's new Blade Pro and Blade laptopshttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/1EAt1dLEjGY

Security researchers have discovered new ways to exploit vulnerabilities in SAP software which could leave up to 50,000 companies, that haven't properly protected their systems, at greater risk of being hacked. The German software giant SAP previously released guidance on how to correctly configure the security settings of its software back in 2009 and 2013. However, data compiled by the security firm Onapsis has revealed that 90 percent of the affected SAP systems have not been properly protected. The firm's chief executive Mariano Nunez provided further insight into the risk organizations face by not configuring the security settings of their SAP software correctly, saying: “Basically, a company can be brought to a halt in a matter of seconds. With these exploits, a hacker could steal anything that sits on a company’s SAP systems and also modify any information there – so he can perform financial fraud, withdraw money, or just plainly sabotage and disrupt the systems.” SAP wants to power the next generation of IoTArtificial intelligence driving intelligent hospitalsThe path from predictive to prescriptive analyticsSAP responded to Onapsis' findings by saying that “SAP always strongly recommends to install security fixes as they are released.” SAP software flawSAP software is currently used by more than 90 percent of the world's top 2,000 companies to handle everything from employee payrolls to product distribution and industrial processes. According to security experts, an attack on those systems could have huge implications both for the victim organization as well as the wider supply chain. For instance, SAP customers collectively distribute 78 percent of the world's food and 82 percent of global medical devices. Mathieu Geli, security consultant at Sogeti, was one of the researchers who developed the exploits released online last month and according to him, the issue concerns the way SAP applications talk to one another inside a company. If a company's security settings are not configured correctly, a hacker could trick an application into thinking they are another SAP product to gain full access without having to login. Onapsis' researchers have named the exploits “10KBLAZE” because of the threat they pose to “business-critical applications”. Luckily though, the company has said that it will share its ability to detect the vulnerabilities with other security vendors to help secure all SAP users against any potential attacks. For many of us, having the best business smartphone is absolutely essential, as we’re more and more reliant on these little computers in our pockets to get our work done. With many manufacturers offering smartphones that are perfect for workers of all levels, we’ve updated this guide to give you the very latest buying advice to help you choose the best smartphones for business use. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/4zq8YBzrSMkBn8RXRYfjej.jpg If you want the very best business smartphone, no matter what the cost, then the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is the one to go for. It's got a spec list to die for, including a huge screen, bags of RAM, a huge 4,000mAh battery and up to 1TB of storage. It's also got a microSD slot and a headphone jack – something that many modern smartphones lack. It's also got some great business-specific features, such as an improved Bluetooth stylus (known as the S Pen), and if you plug it into a USB-C dock or USB-C to HDMI, it can be used in DeX mode, replicating a desktop-environment that can replace your desktop PC. Seriously impressive. Read the full review: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hTTrynqQ3qZio4T2RTpagX.jpg You'll be in good hands if you opt to give your employees the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, which is also our pick for the best smartphone in the world right now. It improves on almost every aspect of the phones that have come before it, with supremely powerful components, a dazzling 6.4-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and a top notch camera - but it's not all fun. The battery has also been given a huge boost to 4,100mAh, which means you can comfortably use it all day without worrying about recharging it. While it doesn't quite have the business focus of the Galaxy Note 9, which is our pick for the best business smartphone, it's still one hell of a great handset from Samsung. Read the full review: Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hEXW5gJX39APZW39Pc4LoR.jpg The OnePlus 6 is our newest phone on this list, and like its predecessor, it is an affordable flagship handset, and offers one of the best Android phone experiences on the market, especially when using it for work. You have the choice of either 6GB or 8GB of RAM depending on your needs - for most people 6GB will be more than enough. The battery life could be better, so make sure you have easy access to a charger if your work depends on you always being connected, and there's still no microSD support on the OnePlus 6, much like previous OnePlus phones, but you do have the choice of either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The true highlight of the OnePlus 6 is the price, though, and this may will be one of the best devices for you on this list if you're looking to spend as little as possible on a top-of-the-range phone for your business needs. It's the pinnacle of Apple's smartphone design, offering a gorgeous 5.8-inch OLED screen, improved battery life and an amazing camera that's arguably the best you'll find on a smartphone. It's very expensive though, but if you want a business smartphone that can do almost everything, and with a gorgeous design, then this is the one to get. If you're on more of a budget, but still want an Apple device, consider the iPhone 8, which is also on this list. Thanks to the large Infinity Display you get loads of screen space to work on, without the body being too bulky to carry around, and the S Pen stylus is something not a lot of other phones can offer and the all-round speed is almost breathtaking at times. It's certainly worth looking at if you want a brilliant business smartphone, especially now that its price has dropped. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the firm's best phone yet, and it's one of our picks for the best business smartphone you can buy in 2019. It comes with a huge 6.39-inch display with a QHD resolution and HDR10 support, plus a large battery that lasted a day and a half in our tests! The Google Pixel 3 is the latest entry and it comes with a decent 5.5-inch full HD screen, a battery that's capable of about a day's worth of use and one of the best cameras we've seen on a smartphone. If you want a pure-Android experience, the Pixel 3 is one of the best business smartphones you can buy right now. Read the full review: Google Pixel 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/H2gZfahSNN2fgQuZnXd6BF.jpg Apple's iPhones are always popular options with great build quality, a simple user interface and a wealth of quality business apps at your fingertips. The iPhone 8 is one of the latest offerings from Apple, and it's faster, smarter and boasts a water resistant body for the first time. While Apple has also released the more premium iPhone X, its high price tag makes that a difficult smartphone to recommend for businesses. That's not to say the iPhone 8 is cheap - it's not - but if you're kitting out your team with these phones, you're going to get more for your money. If your firm is currently rocking iPhone 7 and 7 Plus handsets there's no need to upgrade, but for those using older devices - especially the 5 variants and below the iPhone 8 offers a far superior experience. With the Note 9 still maintaining a high price tag a year on from its release and the soon to be released Note 10 likely to cost even more, trying to grab one of Samsung's productivity power house devices at an affordable price tag is no easy feat. But luckily, Galaxy Note 8 deals have been steadily falling in cost and now have landed at a price tag we would deem 'affordable'. But even with all of the great prices we've seen on this device, none quite top the offer Amazon.co.uk has just come out with. Offering the Note 8 at a SIM-free price of £449, Amazon has undercut the nearest retailer by roughly £100 and the majority of the market by £200. While that is already a unbelievable price cut, it doesn't stop there. Amazon is also chucking in a free 64GB memory card with this offer, worth around £25, adding to the already brilliant value of this offer. Pairing this device with a cheap SIM only deal could allow you to undercut the rest of the Note 8 offers out there. Interested? We don't blame you, but you will have to act fast as there is a bit of a catch. This is part of Amazon's deal of the day and therefore will be coming to an end at 11.59pm tonight. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/VgyagGS9HpAEPUQtUJBfrg.jpg This bargain Note 8 deal in full:Not sure this phone is for you? Major internet disruptions could be right around the corner as we approach 768k Day when the size of the global BGP routing table is expected to exceed 768,000 entries. Similar disruptions were experienced back in 2014, on what we now know as “512k Day”, when the Ipv4 internet routing table exceeded 512,000 BGP routes when Verizon advertised thousands of more routes to the internet. At the time, a number of ISPs and other organizations has provisioned the size of the memory for their router TCAMs for a limit of 512K route entries and some older routers suffered memory overflows which led their CPUs to crash. These crashes created significant packet loss and traffic outages across the internet with even large provider networks being affected. World Password Day: is this the last one?Security researcher exposes zero-day WordPress vulnerabilitiesWorld Backup Day 2019: ignore data backups at your peril!Engineers and network administrators rushed to apply emergency firmware patches to set a new upper limit which in many cases was 768k entries. 512K Day served as a wake-up call for many ISPs and internet organizations but it seems they may have forgotten the chaos it caused as 768k Day is expected to occur sometime this month. 768k DayWhile five years ago ISPs and internet companies were unprepared for 512k Day, this time around most of the large providers who felt its impact have likely prepped and maintained their infrastructures reasonably well which could lead to less outages. However, there are still a lot of smaller ISPs, data centers and other providers who are part of the fabric of the internet. A good amount of service traffic transits through these 'soft spots' of internet infrastructure where maintenance on legacy routers and network equipment can be neglected or missed more easily. It's still entirely possible that we will see some issues or outages due to 768k Day during the next month or so. To prepare for any potential disruptions, it is a good idea to perform some preventative maintenance on any routers that receive full internet routes. Mining is still alive and well in 2019, and if you’re ready to jump on the bandwagon, one of the best mining motherboards should be at the top of your list. Fortunately, we know this as well as anyone and have crafted a guide to the best mining motherboards on the market today, so you can get to mining, rather than spending hours researching. The best mining motherboard, in theory, will work hand in hand with a mining graphics card so that everything attached to your mining rig works together in perfect harmony. We’re not exaggerating when we say that the best motherboards are the nervous system of your mining rig, and getting a good one will help you maximise the profit from your mining rig. There’s a lot to take in when you’re looking for a mining motherboard, but we here at TechRAdar have your back. Right here you’ll find all the best mining motherboards on the market, so whether you’re mining for Ethereum, Bitcoin or some other cryptocurrency, you won’t be left out in the cold. What is Bitcoin? Understanding Bitcoin and cryptocurrenciesHow to buy Bitcoins in 2018Bitcoin vs distributed ledger vs Ethereum vs blockchainThe best Bitcoin exchanges 2018The best mining motherboards 2018http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/sguospjpnKNwPu5nTNGGBo.jpg Supporting a jaw-dropping 19 GPUs – more than any other board on this list, the Asus B250 Mining Expert is easily the best mining motherboard you can buy today. Plus, thanks to a special mining mode, you won’t have to screw around with the BIOS in order to maximize your bitcoin payout. On top of these quality of life improvements, the B250 Mining Expert boasts the same quality standards we’ve come to expect from Asus, the only real drawback is its scarcity – it can sometimes be extremely hard to find, likely due to how great it really is. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/SzRcGcKVaxYzNQMmv74KCD.jpg Thanks to its extremely solid build quality and slots for up to 13 GPUs, the AsRock H110 BTC+ is one of the best mining motherboards you can buy today. These features allow you to expand as needed, so you won’t find a much better future-proof board. It might be a bit overkill, as Windows 10 only supports eight GPUs, but there’s no harm in preparing for future updates. The AsRock H110 BTC+ may not be the best motherboard for mining if you’re a beginner, but if you’re looking for a more advanced platform – you can’t go wrong with the AsRock H110 Pro BTC+. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/uQ7yWpkUWwXnJEp6emnWNN.jpg If you’re not looking for a motherboard that can run 13 GPUs at once, the Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A might just be the best mining motherboard for you. It can still handle up to six GPUs, and it has the excellent build quality Gigabyte is known for – which means it can withstand the intensive conditions cryptocurrency mining can create. It also includes electrostatic, power failure and high temperature protection, which is essential for a machine running 24/7. Unlike some other mining motherboards, it can be used for non-mining applications, giving it a flexibility that we really appreciate. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/paNdvU99JZApbKEPhtgx4U.jpg The Biostar TB250-BTC Pro is a great value mining motherboard that brings some excellent and advanced mining features, such as support for up to 12 GPUs, for a very competitive price. Even if you're not going to be using the full 12 PCI slots for graphics cards, this could be a wise investment if you plan on scaling up your mining operation in the future. The only real downside of this motherboard is that it's quite difficult to get hold of, so keep an eye on our price tracker on this page, as it will tell you when it's in stock, and what the best price is! http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3NZ4sKAb8QZ5P2LrFQK3fc.jpg The MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon is one of the best mining motherboards not just because it’s good at mining, but because it’s also good for gaming. Thanks to a number of gaming-centric features you’d typically associate with boards found in the best gaming PCs you can have a machine that does both. You’ll get four DDR4 memory slots, plenty of ports and connectivity that appeals to hardcore gamers. And, it’s no slouch when it comes to mining either – with support for up to seven graphics cards. For the best versatile mining motherboard, you can’t do much better. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/8yy75cKRQnb4aFB2oHjdAj.jpg Asus’ ROG brand is well known for making gaming components and peripherals, but these peripherals are also great for mining cryptocurrency. The Asus ROG Strix Z270E supports seven graphics cards, which is a decent number for a mining rig. It also has a ton of other features, though many of them are focused on gaming. That’s great if you’re looking for something that can pull double duty, but if you’re not interested in gaming, you’ll find the additional features pointless at best and distracting at worst. These days, cryptocurrency just isn’t as popular as it used to be, but that doesn’t mean its dead. Bitcoin, Ethereum and other crypto coins are still flowing, and there are even some that are booming. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that there are still some out there that want to jump on the mining train. If you’re thinking about diving into cryptocurrency mining, it would be prudent to shop for one of the best mining GPUs on the market today. Because we live in a cryptocurrency world, we’ve created a list of the best mining GPUs you can buy today, so that you can spend less time shopping, and more time profiting. We’ve ranked six of the best mining GPUs on the market, keeping price and efficiency in mind. And, thanks to our exclusive price comparison tool, you can rest assured that you’ll always get the best price. We’ll also be sure to stay on top of recent trends in the cryptocurrency mining scene, like how the AMD Radeon VII is taking over the Ethereum mining world. The idea behind cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum is that individuals generate and transfer them, without relying on a central authority like a government or bank. One of the central appeals of cryptocurrency is that you can use a standard PC for mining. Ethereum, as well as a wide range of other cryptocurrencies, use memory hard-hashing techniques, which is why having one of the best mining GPUs with a lot of graphics memory is required. Therefore, when you go out to look for the best mining GPU you can find, you should think about the memory the GPU features, as well as its power needs and cost. It’s important to consider the GPUs value, because when you start mining for Bitcoin or Ethereum, you won’t be yielding large amounts of cryptocurrency to start. You should therefore try to mitigate your initial costs as much as possible to maximise your profits and start making your initial investment back as soon as possible. However, before you start mining for Bitcoin, Ethereum or other cryptocurrencies, make sure you read the following articles so you know everything there is to know before you begin. Check out also the best VPN services of 2018 that we've nailed downMake sure you have the best cryptocurrency mining software installed as well http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/4Cpxnj85oEewmQ6tCkTp7L.jpg AMD made headlines in 2017 when it launched the AMD Vega 64, not only was this card good at gaming, but it quickly became a cryptocurrency mining darling. And, the AMD Radeon VII takes things to another level, tripling the Vega 64’s hash rate to 90MH/s right out of the box. That’s more powerful than the significantly more expensive Nvidia Titan V, and makes the Radeon VII the new king of the cryptocurrency mining scene. It helps that this card is less than $1,000. Read the full review: AMD Radeon VII http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/b758335305985396c54eb984567a57c4.jpg The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 isn't just a great graphics card for gaming, it's also an excellent mining GPU. This is because it manages a high hash rate of around 30 mh/s without needing too much power. Remember, the more power a GPU requires, the more expensive it is to run, which will eat into your cryptocurrency profits. As with many recent Nvidia GPUs, the 1070 is on the pricey side, so you will have to take an initial hit when starting up, but if you're into cryptocurrency mining for the long run, the 1070 is easily the best mining GPU currently available. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/V4UzFS3xbYu5SqpR4Nit9Q.jpg An AMD Radeon RX580 graphics card The AMD Radeon RX580 is one of the very best GPUs for mining, and in fact is a bit of a victim of its own success, as it can sometimes be difficult to find. However, its popularity is warranted, as it offers an excellent hash rate of 29 mh/s, while also keeping the electricity consumption low as well. It's also cheaper than the GTX 1070, and if you don't mind tweaking a few settings, you'll be very pleased with this card's mining performance. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/b60b3197f0775311b26ba6ff7af0a5ea.jpg Nvidia's GTX 1060 is a new addition to our best GPU for mining list, replacing the AMD Radeon RX 480, which was almost impossible to buy these days thanks to low stock levels. As with the card its replacing, the GTX 1060 isn't the most powerful GPU, but it combines very good mining results without being ridiculously expensive. It's also an excellent gaming graphics card for gaming on as well, which is handy if you want to use your mining rig for other purposes. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/rU3vJ8kVQTqFsZaVyLPWzZ.jpg An AMD Radeon RX Vega graphics card The AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 is one of the best value-packed graphics card on the market right now. Benchmarks prove it runs faster than the Nvidia GTX 1070 and, thanks to the Bitcoin mining craze, it’s also cheaper to boot. Again, it can be a tricky GPU to track down, and it's power consumption means it can end up being a pricey GPU to run 24/7 in a mining rig, but it performs very well at mining, so if you can find one, it's definitely worth considering. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/dAtfBbrnKo6PpqnwVS9phF.jpg The Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti Until either Volta or Turing comes along to replace it, the Nvidia GTX remains and will remain one of the most powerful graphics cards available in 2018. However, as good as it is a gaming GPU, it’s also an excellent mining GPU, but there are a few issues that stop it from ascending to the top of this list. For instance, it’s an extremely expensive GPU, and it draws more power compared to its competition. This means you’ll be getting less of a return on your investment, and it’ll take a while longer to cover your costs. However, if you don’t mind spending the extra cash for this GPU, (or if you want to game with the best graphics card around), then you’ll be happy with the results, as if you do a bit of tweaking you can reach a hash rate of 32 mh/s. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ztXQVBTuVQMbWtJtBxjSeV.jpg The Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti While the GTX 1070 sits atop our list of the best mining GPUs, its follow up, the GTX 1070 Ti, is another fantastic mining graphics card, and with a number of power upgrades, such as a higher base clock, the 1070 Ti does a very good job. However, there are a few reasons why it's listed lower than its older sibling. For a start, as it's newer it costs more than the 1070, which will dent your profits from mining. It also has a higher power consumption, which makes it more costly to run. Finally, there have been incidents of a bug in the driver software which makes this GPU hash lower than expected, but an upcoming fix should sort that. If you're prepared to tweak a few settings, however, this is an excellent mining GPU. How to mine Bitcoinshttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/Isx6mR2S4aI

Qualcomm’s Q2 results have revealed that Apple is set to make a one-off payment of between $4.5 and $4.7 billion to compensate for unpaid royalties during the two firm’s patent litigation. Revenues, which do not include any royalties from Apple, rose by 5 per cent to $5 billion, beating expectations. “We delivered a better than expected quarter with earnings per share above the high end of our estimates, reflecting stronger QTL results and solid execution in QCT,” said Steve Mollenkopf, Qualcomm CEO. Intel abandons 5G modem plansApple and Qualcomm settle litigationWhat is 5G? Everything you need to knowQualcomm results“We are also pleased to have reached multi-year agreements with Apple and look forward to continuing to support them as a customer. Apple’s payment will be included in Qualcomm’s Q3 results, while licensing revenue will also reflect the fact that the iPhone maker is once again paying royalties. However, Qualcomm’s outlook was lower than expected thanks to the ongoing contraction of the smartphone market – especially in China. Indeed, even when taking future Apple royalties into account, licensing projections are relatively static. Qualcomm believes demand for 5G smartphones will stimulate marketing demand, while there is also the likelihood that the settlement with Apple will allow Qualcomm to supply modem chips for the 5G iPhone. The San Diego-based firm’s technology is already used in the vast majority of flagship handsets from major manufacturers. “We are executing well on our strategic priorities as 5G commercial launches begin around the world. Our 5G technology and product leadership, as well as our expansion into new industries and product categories, creates a strong foundation for long-term revenue and earnings growth,” added Mollenkopf. Popular VPN company, NordVPN, has been criticised by the regulator for UK’s advertising industry, ASA, for producing an advert that it says, exaggerate the risk of data theft without using their service. The TV advert was aired earlier this year by the VPN provider and attracted nine complaints. The ad shows a fictitious character walking around in a train an handing over his personal information to other passengers while stating that he was a hackers’ best friend. The character then said “Your sensitive online data is just as open to snoopers on public WiFi”. Want a free VPN? Check out our ultimate list of the best free VPN.VPN are not enough to keep yourself secure online. Consider buying one of these antivirus from our best antivirus list.Last but not least, read this list of the best anti-malware software around. NordVPN: HTTPS is a red herringThe service, which ranks second in our best VPN service buyers guide, rightly pointed out that HTTPS (AKA the little padlock) "did not mean the site was legitimate, nor was it any proof that the site had been security-hardened against intrusion from hackers". Indeed, HTTPS could give a false sense of security to site visitors although one might argue that a VPN wouldn’t be a universal panacea to hackers. It added that "most public Wi-Fi hotspots were considered insecure since the majority had very primitive security parameters and non-existent or very weak passwords available to everyone." ASA’s view was slightly different as highlighted in their assessment of the case: “while we acknowledged that such data threats could exist we considered the overwhelming impression created by the ad was that public networks were inherently insecure and that access to them was akin to handing out security information voluntarily”, they said. NordVPN is one of the biggest VPN players out there; over the past 24 months, it has embarked on a branding campaign that saw them sponsor Liverpool FC and roll out a TV campaign in the US. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/h1zi5RGYKcA

Like Facebook, Google has been hounded by privacy advocates to improve its data collection policies, and has received particular criticism for indefinitely holding on to users’ geo-location information on its servers. In response, Google has been progressively making changes to its otherwise nebulous data collection protocols, giving users more power over the private information the company stores. The Alphabet-owned tech giant has added to its efforts by announcing that, going forward, users will have the option of having their online history automatically deleted after a certain period of time. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/BcwcrJApsd22jstLJgNrQA.gif Image: Google The auto-delete option, according to Google, will allow users to choose an expiration time of either three months or 18 months for the data collected by the search giant, including past searches, online activity on Google-owned sites, Android app installation and usage, and information collected via the Location History feature on Google Search and Google Maps. The controls will be available in the account settings pane under the Web & App Activity and Location History sections. Google’s announcement says that the auto-delete feature will be rolled out in the next few weeks and is “coming first” to the web- and location-history sections, implying we may see it applied to other Google services in the future as well. Google IO 2019 dates start up next week, and we expect some sizeable announcements to come from the event, which has typically showcased new software features coming to Google platforms. We might even see a hardware surprise or two. Google IO 2019 is again being held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, beginning with a keynote on May 7. What do we expect to come from the showcase? Rumors suggest the Google Pixel 3a will debut, showing off the alleged leaner-yet-cheaper version of last year’s Google Pixel 3 smartphone. We also expect to get an in-depth preview of Android Q, the next version of the mobile OS that’s already seen several beta releases. Those are far from the only things Google will announce at the event, but for now, we’ll list all the rumors we’ve heard about what’s coming. Google IO date and timeGoogle IO 2019 will run from May 7 to 9 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, near the company's headquarters. The event kicks off with an opening keynote at 10am PDT on May 7 and goes from there, with multiple simultaneous small sessions, demonstrations and stage presentations through the event's three-day span. See the whole schedule on the Google IO 2019 website here. For those at home, Google will be livestreaming some of the above (especially the stage presentations) on its website and YouTube channel. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vmMQv356Snn5NVgDXyAFU9.jpg Google Pixel 3aWe hope to get our first look at the long-rumored Google Pixel 3a, the alleged lower-cost version of last year’s Google Pixel 3 smartphone. Like the iPhone XR and Samsung S10e, this phone is expected to offer the most important specs and features from the main flagship at a more affordable price point. That means, yes, the camera and software, which has kept the Google Pixel 3 near the top of our best camera phone list since the handset debuted, along with high specs befitting the Pixel line. But it also means getting the less-known benefits of a Google flagship phone at a discount. This includes optimization for all the Google apps and software. More importantly, it means being among the very first phones to get upgraded to the new version of Android – seriously, many phones haven’t yet upgraded to Android 9 Pie. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oRAkjvPLUKjSCFtuwYiKHf.jpg Android QWe’ll likely get all the details about Android Q, the next version of the mobile OS that’s already been in beta for over a month. While it probably won’t be publicly released until later in the year (perhaps simultaneously with the Google Pixel 4, as has been tradition with Google’s phones), we might get a look at the cool anticipated features at Google IO 2019. These include some long-desired perks rumored to come, like system-wide Dark Mode that overrides apps to get that beloved white-text-on-dark-fields look and Face ID-style facial authorization. Other suspected features prepare Android for the next year of phones, like support for foldable phones, more privacy options and additional developer tools. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/QyasnPs3jWLxCboa5xet4V.jpg Image credit: Android Police Nest Hub Max (Google Home Hub Max)Google might have accidentally shown off a new product in its connected speaker line – specifically a device that might be an upsized version of its smart-speaker-and-screen Google Home Hub that came out earlier this year. Evidence suggests it will be named the Nest Hub Max, but we predict it will be called the Google Home Hub Max to put it in line with the previous product. While the original had a 7-inch screen, the Home Hub Max has a supposedly expanded 10-inch display. This would make it far better for watching media, either while relaxing or during a task (like a recipe or cooking tutorial). Crucially, this version is alleged to have a security camera, which the original Home Hub omitted due to privacy (and likely cost-cutting) concerns. Speech substitutionThe events list for Google IO 2019 mentions Project Euphoria, which aims to leverage "Google technologies to give people with speech impairments their voice back." While it’s unclear what this specifically entails, it could be a new software app or a feature coming to Android, probably powered by machine learning. As we pointed out when the news hit, there’s no guarantee that Project Euphoria will go live anytime soon – it could just be introduced as a feature coming in the future, as Google is wont to do. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zcFLRcPDXuMPCCx7j2hTP4.jpg Other stuff at Google IO 2019?Google loves introducing new concepts at IO, but sometimes they aren’t nearly ready to be released right away. At least one feature that debuted at last year’s event is on this list: a mode in Google Maps that introduces AR overlays in the top half of the screen (a la Google Lens) while keeping the traditional map-and-arrow on the bottom. As we said at the time, Google didn’t state when this unified guidance mode would come out – and we’re still waiting. Perhaps this is the year that a ‘StreetView AR’ gets added to Google Maps. We're expecting a lot of Android news out of Google IO 2019, and here are the best Android phones that will get those new featureshttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/kvyRXQVPRaM

Choosing the best iPad in 2019 is complicated because Apple has launched five new iPads in the last year, and another five iPads are still on sale for even cheaper. The best iPad can give you the power of a computer, the sleek design of a 2-in-1 laptop, and the familiar interface of smartphone thanks to iOS 12 and, soon, iOS 13. It's all tied up into a nice, neat package, one that's replacing the traditional bulky laptop for many – though not all – consumers out there. And there's now an iPad price for everyone, with cheap the new iPad 9.7-inch 2018 starting out at an affordable price, while the performance-focused iPad Pro 11 and the iPad Pro 12.9 offer laptop-like internal specs. The new iPad Air and iPad mini offer a good value in the middle, and all support the Apple Pencil to appeal to average consumers and students. Believe it or not, the iPad Air 2, also a 9.7-inch tablet, remains popular, even though Apple isn't officially selling it at their store anymore. And the aging iPad mini 4 (launched way back in 2015) is still on sale in many places with a price cut. There's ca 'best iPad' for you no matter your needs and no matter your budget. We created a top iPad 2019 list to help narrow down Apple's top tablet choices for you. Let's begin with a video overview of the best iPads The best tablet in the worldThe iPad Pro 11 is the second best iPad you can buy right now – it'd be the best if it didn't have a bigger sibling. It may be expensive, but the recent iPad Pros have Apple's most powerful tablet and furthers the 2-in-1 design ethos if you spring for the pricey new keyboard cover folio. It has a laptop-like experience in design and performance, and the new Apple Pencil magnetically clips onto the frame of the new iPad Pro. With superb speakers and a great new screen-to-body ratio, it's hard not to fall in love with the finely crafted hardware design. However, there are setbacks for the iPad Pro 11 that you should be aware of. The iOS 12 software feels limiting when trying to multitask and perform laptop-like tasks. Another strictly mobile challenge: it doesn't have a headphone jack. If you want the standard 3.5mm jack in a computer-like device, you'll spring for an actual computer. Everything about the iPad Pro 11 makes it the best experience if you're looking for the best Apple tablet - you'll just need to swallow the high price - but it's no MacBook replacement. Read the full review: iPad Pro 11 review The iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) is a big monster – monster in the good kind of way, as it effortlessly crushes half the things you need in your life – goodbye mobile phone, laptop, coloring pad, music mixing table, games console. It's the ultimate creativity and workflow tool, with its huge screen, useful peripherals and snappy iOS. It has the fastest processing power we've ever seen in a mobile device, four powerful speakers and a vibrant screen and, depending on which model you get, more storage power than you'd ever need. It doesn't have the best battery life though, so it's not going to last you too long. You might not be able to use it for long periods of time watching films on a journey or mixing your music, and it charges rather slowly too. All in all, the iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) is the best iPad you can buy right now, if you can afford its lofty price. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/n7H5WcnXp63v6VWxPxWEk4.jpg This is the best Apple iPad for the average consumer and for education, even if it isn't the most powerful one on sale. It's simply a great value. The new iPad (2018) replaces the very similar 2017 model and, before that, the iPad Air 2 in Apple's lineup, slotting in below the Pro range. It works with the Apple Pencil, offering you the cheapest way to doodle on the 9.7-inch glass, though you can't get the Smart Keyboard with this non-Pro model. It also has the same luxurious metal unibody as the rest of Apple's iPad range, though notably it's ever-so-slightly thicker than the iPad Air 2 or iPad Pro at 7.5mm. With the Touch ID fingerprint sensor included, iOS 12 under the hood and up to 10 hours of battery life when web browsing or watching videos, it's a great media player and a strong tablet choice if you're not planning to use it heavily for productivity. Read the full review: iPad (2018) http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg The iPad Air, with a 10.5-inch screen, is the ultimate compromise between the entry-level iPad 9.7 and the more powerful, but more expensive iPad Pro 11. It sits at the original iPad price in most countries, so it's cheaper than the iPad Pro 10.5 (2017) that it replaces, and although it isn't a 'Pro' tablet in name, it has several high-end features that make it a convincing laptop supplement. It's the cheapest iPad that's compatible with Apple's Smart Keyboard Cover, meaning you don't need to deal with tricky Bluetooth keyboard connections to get real work done on this thing. It also has Apple's A12 chipset, borrowed from the iPhone XS. It's incredibly fast. Students will be able to take notes and respond to email on this tablet, but artists will hate the first-generation Apple Pencil. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg Sometimes with a tablet you just want a slightly plus-sized phone, and the iPad mini (2019) fits that bill. It's a dinky device with some impressive specs, boasting Apple's most recent processor and a decent battery life. What makes the iPad mini (2019) great is the fact you can use the Apple Pencil alongside it, turning the iPad mini into a tiny notebook in your pocket. The iPad mini (2019) is one of the best small tablets you can get at its price point, so if you're looking for an easily totable pocket powerhouse, you can't get much better than this little monster. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg We really like the iPad Pro 12.9 for its large size and it's the closest thing we have to a 2-in-1 touchscreen MacBook. It just happens to run iOS 12 instead of macOS. It's the best productivity and entertainment tablet around thanks to its 12.9-inch screen, four speakers and the iOS 12 dock and multitasking interface. Apple has redesigned its Control Center interface to make app switching even easier, and this tablet is compatible with the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. It's biggest weakness? The iPad Pro 12.9-inch price, and the size isn't a good fit for everyone. But If you can afford it and want the largest-sized iPad available, you're going to love this – it's a laptop-replacement for a lot people out there. Read the full review: iPad Pro 12.9 (2017) http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg The iPad Pro 10.5-inch version is an all-star tablet which has been recently superseded by the iPad Pro 11. There's good news for the Pro 10.5 though, as it means it's now cheaper. Its bright ProMotion Retina HD screen is its best selling point. It adds an impressive layer of fluidity to daily use - if not strictly necessary - and the smaller bezels means you're getting far more display in a footprint not much bigger than 2016's 9.7. It's an iPad for the professionals - but also one that media munchers will adore using. It takes advantage of the Apple Pencil and several tablet-focused iOS 12 features like the dock, Control Center and Instant Markup with the stylus. If you invest in the recommended Smart Keyboard, you can attach it to a Pro-level iPad without jumping through all of the hoops of Bluetooth. Read the full review: iPad Pro 10.5 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/toZduPbhcLLaYXxLaLvkj8.jpg The iPad (2017) marked a name shift for Apple's tablets, as the Cupertino, California firm dropped 'Air' in favor for the cleaner moniker. The iPad from 2017 has since been replaced by the new iPad (2018), but it's still a solid buy if you're looking for a more affordable Apple slate. The only real problem is the new iPad (2018) isn't that much more, so unless you simply can't spend more than £300, the newer version is the better buy. Read the full review: iPad (2017) http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg For the average user the iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) is one of the best all-round options. The 9.7-inch screen strikes a great balance between being big enough to get far more out of than a phone screen and small enough to still be fairly portable. And although Apple has ditched the Air moniker, at 240 x 169.5 x 6.1mm and 437g the iPad Pro 9.7 is every bit as thin and light as the iPad Air 2. But it lives up to the Pro name, with plenty of power afforded by its A9X chipset and 2GB of RAM, four speakers for serious media potential, a beautiful True Tone screen, which adapts the color and intensity to your environment, and of course the ability to use the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil with it, if you want to use the slate to actually get things done. The iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) also comes with up to 256GB of storage if you're prepared to pay, so you needn't feel limited by the lack of a microSD card slot, and it's likely to remain a powerful and versatile tablet for years to come, so while it's expensive you might not feel the need to upgrade for a long time. Read the full review: iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ebfaef991f653986352a43b35a019820.jpg Big screens aren't for everyone, and that's where the 7.9-inch iPad Mini 4 comes in. The screen size means it's far more portable than Apple's larger tablets, especially as it's light at 299g. It's not quite small enough that you can use it one handed, but you can comfortably hold it for a lot longer than most of Apple's slates, or throw it in a bag and forget about it. It's also big enough to enjoyably browse the net or watch videos on when you're away from home and bigger screens, but it's obviously not quite as strong an experience for most visual media as Apple's larger 9.7, 10.5 and 12.9-inch slates. The small size and lack of Smart Connector also makes it worse for productivity than the iPad Pro range, but this isn't designed as a laptop replacement. It's still fairly powerful thanks to 2GB of RAM and the aging but still impressive Apple A8 chip, while the screen is sharp, rich and easy to see even in bright sunlight. The iPad Mini 4 is also a fraction of the price of Apple's Pro range, and with 128GB of storage you needn't be terribly limited in that area – though it's no match for the 256GB you can get in the iPad Pro. Hospitals and GP practices across the UK will soon have access to the fastest fiber-optic broadband to support widespread improvements in the range and quality of digital healthcare services as part of the Long Term Plan according to Health Secretary Matt Hancock. Currently almost 40 percent of NHS organizations are using slow and unreliable internet supplied through copper lines which restricts the ability to offer digital services such as video consultations to patients. In a speech at the Royal College of General Practitioners technology conference, Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced plans to upgrade every hospital, GP practice and community care service to full fibre connectivity. Amazon is bringing AI to help read medical recordsHealthcare leads the way when it comes to AI investmentMicrosoft moves further into healthcare with new partnership with WalgreensThe commitment is part of a larger effort to support the 10-year NHS Long Term Plan which was published in January and pledges to radically expand and improve online access to healthcare services. Long Term PlanUnder the NHS Long Term Plan, every patient will get the right to choose a “digital first” approach to primary healthcare. This means that more of the 307m patient consultations that take place with GPs each year would be offered online in the future through video consultation as well as through face-to-face meetings. Hospital outpatient clinics will also be redesigned with more “virtual clinics” where video consultations will be conducted. Moving patient records to the cloud will also help clinicians access crucial information including high resolution images from anywhere in the country which will improve patient safety and speed up appointments. Health Secretary Matt Hancock explained why upgrading broadband is such an important part of delivering these changes, saying: “Every day, our NHS staff do amazing work – but too often they are let down by outdated and unreliable technology. It’s simply unbelievable that a third of NHS organisations are using internet that can sometimes be little better than dial-up. To give people control over how they access NHS services, I want to unlock the full potential of technology – this is the future for our 21st century healthcare system and a central part of our NHS Long Term Plan. Faster broadband connections can help us deliver these dramatic improvements – we need clinicians and other healthcare professionals to feel confident they can access fast, reliable broadband so they can provide patients with the best possible care.” Looking to upgrade your home internet? And, well, that’s not actually that far off. The WRT32X takes all of the successful components of that highly rated router, and puts them in a router with a custom firmware that’s extremely easy to navigate and a very subdued and attractive visual design, making it one of the best routers with VPN you can buy in 2019. Its solid black finish is complemented by a quartet of antennas. Plus it’s damn fast and bettered by its inclusion of a duo of USB ports paired with an eSATA connector. The real centerpiece, though, is the VDSL 2 modem built into the Nighthawk X4S D7800, negating the need to buy or lease one separately. The outfitted software isn’t too shoddy either; a simple Dynamic QOS system makes it a breeze to govern a multitude of devices on a single home network. Best of all, it's a great router to use with a VPN. ExpressVPN also offers a native iPad app, and it supports iOS 8 (or better). It’s neatly organised so that you can connect with one click and immediately hook up with the fastest server available. For older iOS versions, there is a detailed setup instruction for configuring the VPN manually, thus making it a great fit for older-generation iPads. On the security front, ‘best in class’ 256-bit encryption is in place, along with support for OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec, and PPTP protocols, and a private, encrypted DNS. ExpressVPN doesn’t log any traffic data, DNS queries, or anything that could be used to identify the user. A quick glance at the pricing scheme shows that the service costs more than most VPNs. You don’t get to try it out through a free trial, but there is a 30-day 100% money-back guarantee available. Going the yearly route is the most affordable option of the three price plans on offer.
