The Korean e-sports Association has stated that Gerrard and YoDa are banned for life, with a promise to pursue further "strong legal measures". Also among those facing charges are two financial backers, described as 'gangsters' with ties to organized crime. An investigation from the Changwon Regional Prosecutor's office in South Korea revealed that five professional matches had been fixed, all of which took place between January and June this year. The full details can be found at Team Liquid. Gerrard, the coach of team Prime, has been charged with acting as a middleman between the players and the brokers. Through Gerrad, BBoongBBoong was allegedly paid $4,450 USD by an unnamed broker to lose a proleague match, while YoDa is accused of receiving approximately $30,000 for intentionally losing two matches. He was then allegedly blackmailed into losing a further two matches. Gerrard received approximately $8,900 to have YoDa lose one of his matches. Earlier in the year, e-sports site Fomos revealed that Gerrard was in financial trouble, apparently having to appeal to friends and family for money. This isn't the first time the Starcraft pro scene has been plagued by match fixing, with Won 'Justin' Jong Seo fined $2700 and sentenced to 120 hours community service, plus three years probation on an 18-month prison sentence. Activision and Treyarch announced today that Black Ops 3 players who reached certain multiplayer levels in previous Call of Duty games will be rewarded with special bonuses right out of the gate, including a special weapon camo for the particularly Prestigious. You'll receive the same rewards whether you played Black Ops 2, Ghosts, or Advanced Warfare. If you reached level 10 in any of those games, you'll get a special Calling Card. Players who hit level 31 will also get two unique reticles, and players who Prestiged will get a special weapon camo to boot. The camo pattern integrates the Prestige logos from the previous games, making for a nice little trophy for your old triumphs. You'll be eligible for the Loyalty rewards no matter what system you played the game(s) on; just make sure you link your Xbox Live, PSN, and/or Steam accounts to your Call of Duty account by November 5 at 9 pm PDT. The rewards will only be redeemable on PC, PS4, and Xbox One - PS3 and Xbox 360 won't get the Black Ops 3 campaign, either. Source http://www.gamesradar.com

Been thinking about a new laptop? If you're ready to part with your old one, Microsoft will give you $200 for it. Or $300 if it's a MacBook. http://cnet1.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2015/10/16/29ba21f1-6c57-4558-b463-d43d90c583f0/resize/570xauto/ec300ce2551d136cd10e28f0a3e1677c/microsoft-trade-up-program.jpg That's the fairly straightforward offer from Microsoft's new trade-up program. All you have to do is buy a qualifying product from the Microsoft Store, submit a claim and then send in your old qualifying laptop. Of course, the devil's in the details, or in this case in the "qualifying." The new PC must be priced at $599 or above, and it must be one of the models listed on this Microsoft Store page. If you want the cheapest possible option, there's exactly one $599 system: the Acer Aspire R 13 Signature Edition convertible, which has some very solid specs but only middling reviews. A better bet might be the $699 Asus Zenbook UX305, a steal at the post-trade-in $499 price. I own one of these, and it has just two flaws: a non-backlit keyboard and a power button located in the worst possible place: right next to the Delete key. There are also a few all-in-one systems that qualify, including the popular HP Envy Beats, which is already marked down $200 to $849. A final price of $649 is awfully tempting. (Obviously it would be $549 if you traded in a MacBook. But I'm curious: Does anyone ever switch from Mac to Windows?) As for your trade-in, it must be no more than six years old, with a screen that's at least 11.6 inches, and it must be "operational" and "undamaged." (Be sure to read the full terms and conditions.) I couldn't find any indication of who pays to ship your old laptop, you or Microsoft. There have been other trade-in deals, of course, but typically the language reads "get up to $200 for your old laptop." And then you find out that "up to" means, like, $40. Here you get $200 or $300, period. Pretty nice option for anyone looking to, well, trade up. Source http://www.cnet.com/

Dying Light's first major expansion has been announced for ages, but we still have a while to wait until it's released. According to the trailer above – which briefly shows the decidedly less urban setting for the expansion – is releasing "Q1 2016", which is corporate speak for "some time between January and March next year". It seems like a long wait for an expansion, but The Following sounds like it'll be a lot bigger and more ambitious than the norm. In addition to buggies and weapons, a whole new open world will be included. That, combined with the game's ongoing modding support, will no doubt help Dying Light endure longer than your average zombie-bashing action game. Source http://www.pcgamer.com/

With less than a month to go before Fallout 4's release, Bethesda is ramping up marketing and promotional efforts for the post-apocalyptic RPG. The latest example is a beautiful new live-action trailer for the game, called "The Wanderer," which shows a man (and his dog) walking through a ravaged wasteland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3IlHBBGCIw It is possible that this is the trailer that Bethesda reportedly worked on with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's production company, Mirada Studios, though this is not confirmed. The Fallout 4 release date is set for November 10 across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. In other recent news, Bethesda has published the latest "S.P.E.C.I.A.L." video and released the first image and control details for the PlayStation Vita version available through Remote Play. Jason Voorhees recently appeared in Mortal Kombat X as a DLC fighter, but now he's getting his own new game. Gun Media and developer Illfonic have announced Friday the 13th: The Game, a third-person, asymmetrical multiplayer game for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The hook is that one player controls Jason Voorhees, while seven others take control of camp counselors who are attempting to survive the night. http://static3.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/1179/11799911/2950665-friday.jpg http://static2.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/1179/11799911/2950653-1.jpg The game takes place in a "semi-open world" of Camp Crystal Lake from the film series. "It's a classic horror fan's dream, no shaky cam, no found footage," developers said. "We want you to know we're revitalizing the golden era of slashers, and putting you at the controls of each horrific, blood-splattered moment." Gun Media is looking to fund Friday the 13th: The Game on Kickstarter. A campaign for the game went live today, asking for $700,000. Friday the 13th: The Game is actually an evolution of Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp. It was decided to make this a Friday the 13th game after franchise creator Sean Cunningham reached out to the development team. "That's when things got awesome," the developers said. "Sean came to us in early 2015, but we quickly discovered these weren't the normal business conversations you would have when you try to secure a license as important as Friday the 13th. It was totally different. It was a conversation built on mutual admiration and respect for what each had created. "Sean immediately noticed the passion we had for Friday the 13th, and after several incredible meetings over the next few months, we decided to upgrade our plans for Summer Camp and embrace the Friday the 13th video game license," they added. "After several incredible meetings over the next few months, Sean surprised us by offering the Friday the 13th video game license. It was literally a dream come true for a group of lifelong fans. He knew he could trust us with the most coveted horror IP ever, and we plan to make good on that promise to both him and you, the millions of loyal Friday the 13th fans around the world." As for why Gun Media is not seeking a traditional publisher relationship, the developer said violence, gore, and nudity "aren't just concepts to consider--they're necessities." Partnering with a publisher meant that might have meant these elements would have to be toned down. "We don't want that. You don't want that," they said. "We're not interested in compromising what made the film franchise so popular. We're interested in building precisely what we, as fans, want. The ultimate Friday the 13th experience. Blood, guts, gore, brutal kills, and more. You want an experience true to the films, and so do we. It's about creative control and delivering the best game we can. We want to share that control, with you, not a publisher." Friday the 13th: The Game runs on Epic's Unreal Engine 4, and looks quite nice, even in its unfinished state currently. Microsoft has a new adapter that lets Xbox One owners use their wireless controllers to play games on Windows 10 PCs and tablets. http://cnet4.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2015/10/12/f345a5dd-2682-4499-a517-8ad66fd1a5b3/resize/570xauto/9b0c9214bfa6442ae52fd975319631fe/xbox-one-wireless-adapter.jpg Available starting October 20, the adapter will sell for $25. The USB-based adapter plugs into a Windows 10 computer or tablet and connects with the Xbox One wireless controller. From there, you can use the wireless controller to play PC games and Xbox games that are streamed to a Windows 10 device. Sorry, Xbox 360 owners, the adapter supports only the Xbox One. The adapter is a small but crucial piece of Microsoft's goal to unite PCs, tablets and the Xbox One video game console under the banner of Windows 10. Officially released on July 29, Windows 10 is Microsoft's attempt to draw as many users as possible to its operating system. One way of doing that is to bridge the PC and gaming worlds. The Xbox app for Windows 10 lets you stream games from the console to other devices, which may convince some Xbox One gamers to run the new OS on their PCs and tablets. The Xbox One is also part of Microsoft's "universal apps" strategy, which lets developers create games and apps for one platform and then tweak them to run on another platform. For example, a developer could create a game once using core programming code and then easily modify it to run on a Windows 10 PC, a Windows 10 mobile device and on the Xbox One. The new adapter and the Xbox One controller will support games designed for Windows 10. To generate interest among gamers, Microsoft has released several games optimized just for Windows 10, including Minecraft, Gigantic, Killer Instinct and Gears of War. Source http://www.cnet.com/

The existence of a "Realistic" difficulty mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops III was recently discovered by the game's achievement/trophy listings. Now, Treyarch has provided more details on how this uber-challenging mode works. Producer Jason Blundell tells XboxAchievements, “[in Realistic] you have one point of life, so if you're shot once, you're dead. It completely changes the way you play the game." http://static3.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/536/5360430/2950189-black_ops_3_provocation_zip_line_wm_1444637302.jpg He went on to say that surviving in Black Ops III's four-player co-op campaign will require the coordinated effort of all soldiers. And patience. Lots and lots of patience, it seems. "You all have to survive as a group," he explained. "You end up respecting the level in a completely different way, and once gunfire opens up, everyone just drops to the ground, because if any one bullet hits you or a grenade goes off near you, you're dead." Past Call of Duty games have featured Recruit, Regular, Hardened, and Veteran difficulty settings. If you're playing Black Ops III's co-op campaign with computer characters instead of human friends, you may be happy to learn that the game's AI has been completely rewritten to "make independent decisions," Blundell explained. He added: "We have more types of AI than we've ever had before." Black Ops III launches on November 6 for all platforms. The last-generation versions of the shooter do not have a campaign mode, a point that will be made clear on the game's box. In other news, a Treyarch producer apologized for a recent Black Ops III marketing campaign involving a fake terrorist attack. Activision also has released stunning new trailer for Black Ops III's zombies mode, Shadows of Evil, showing off the virtual versions of actors such as Jeff Goldblum, Ron Perlman, Heather Graham, and Neal McDonough. Whatever the answer, Asus is coming close to it with the Maximus VIII Impact, which it announced at an event in San Francisco on Friday. The tiny motherboard is densely packed with an impressive feature list, including some capabilities that you won’t even find on midrange ATX motherboards. As a member of Asus’ high-end ROG Gaming line, though, the Maximus VIII doesn’t come cheap. This is a premium $250 board in a damn miniscule package. As you may be able to tell from the image above, the Maximus VIII Impact includes a built-in wi-fi adapter (802.11ac). It has a hefty VRM (voltage regulator module) mounted vertically at the top of the board, which offers some serious overclocking potential for both CPU and RAM. According to an Asus rep I spoke to at the event, they were able to push a Skylake CPU to its limits in the high 4GHz range on the Maximus VIII Impact. Also included: USB 3.1 Type-A and Type-C, an on-board sound card rather than a small sound chip, and a fan extension card for multiple fan inputs (which would be useful in a versatile mini-ITX case like the Cougar QBX). In addition to its four SATA ports, the Maximus VIII Impact includes the recently-named U.2 connector, which Intel has used for its enterprise 750 SSD. The U.2 connector isn’t nearly as well-known as the up-and-coming M.2, but it could end up being the connector of choice for the fast solid state storage of the future, with included support for x4 PCIe speeds. If U.2 catches on, the Maximus VIII will definitely be a future-proof motherboard. http://e5c351ecddc2f880ef72-57d6ff1fc59ab172ec418789d348b0c1.r69.cf1.rackcdn.com/images/PzY5b3Krc9-A.878x0.Z-Z96KYq.jpg Source http://www.pcgamer.com/

Nvidia was handed a major setback Friday in its lawsuit with Samsung over the improper use of its graphics technology. http://cnet1.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2015/02/02/9861589b-91e7-4b4d-8937-cadf4e702304/resize/570xauto/8f4c029a9c66a670a207dbae86c32a23/20140426151723.jpg Thomas B. Pender, an administrative law judge for the US International Trade Commission, wrote that Samsung didn't infringe on Nvidia's graphics patents. He also determined one of Nvidia's three patents is invalid because the technology had already been covered in previously known patents. The decision deals a blow to Nvidia's efforts to prove that Samsung illegally used its technology. If found guilty, Samsung, the largest smartphone maker in the world, could face a ban on US shipments of certain products, including the Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5. But the judge's decision is an early recommendation, and the ITC still has to make a formal decision. "Today's initial determination is one more step in the ITC's legal process," Nvidia said Friday in a statement. "We remain confident in our case." Samsung didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. ITC opens investigation into Samsung's patent suit against Nvidia Nvidia, which is best known for making graphics chips for PCs, filed lawsuits with the ITC and US District Court in Delaware in September 2014 involving seven of its patents. At the time, Nvidia said it asked the ITC to block shipments of several Samsung smartphones and tablets to the US and requested the district court award damages for the alleged infringement. Nvidia's specialty in graphics is the focal point of the dispute. Samsung has tended to use Qualcomm's processors in its high-end devices. The Note 4, for instance, uses a Snapdragon 805 chip. Samsung also uses its own Exynos chips in some models, particularly those sold in Korea and its newest products, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5. The devices mentioned in the suit involve Qualcomm's Adreno graphics, ARM Holdings' Mali technology and Imagination's PowerVR graphics architecture, which are three of Nvidia's main competitors in mobile graphics. Beyond the smartphone, several Samsung tablet computers, including the Galaxy Tab S, Tab 2 and Note Pro, were listed as well. Nvidia's suit was only the latest in a series of lawsuits in the hot mobile sector. Samsung has been battling Apple for the past several years over technology used in its smartphones and tablets. The two companies a year ago agreed to settle all disputes outside the US, but their lawsuits continue in the country. Microsoft also has sued Samsung, saying it didn't live up to its patent licensing agreement for technology used in Android tablets and smartphones. Companies have tended to file lawsuits with the ITC to speed up the process of addressing the dispute. Civil suits could take years to go to trial, and they're often held up for even longer in the appeals process. An ITC sales ban, however, could severely hurt a company's profits or force the two sides to negotiate a settlement. Source http://www.cnet.com/

The sign-up page on Netflix's site said that the company's "standard" tier of service, which lets two people watch separately at the same time and includes content at a high-definition picture quality, would increase by $1, to $9.99 a month, starting November 18. Prices for its "basic" and "premium" tiers remain the same. Existing members get a slight reprieve and will keep their current price for a year, the company said. "To continue adding more TV shows and movies, including many Netflix original titles, we are modestly raising the price for some new members in the US, Canada and Latin America," Netflix spokeswoman Anne Marie Squeo said. She added the company is releasing nearly 450 hours of original and first-run content globally this year. (First-run means Netflix is the initial place you can watch something in a particular territory.) Netflix has grown to 65 million subscribers thanks to its combination of international expansion and high-profile original content, such as the series "House of Cards" and "Orange Is the New Black." But those efforts come with big price tags, prompting the company to raise prices once last year in addition to the most recent hike. Thursday's understated announcement -- through a change to its website and an email to current members -- is similar to the last hike and starkly contrasts its price increases in 2011, when a 60 percent bump outraged US members and triggered a wave of defections. The company raised prices by a euro in European markets this summer. The latest increase raises the price of the standard plan to $9.99 in the US, Canada and Latin American countries where the company prices its service in US dollars. Chile, Colombia and Mexico also are raising prices -- for all three plans -- in their local currencies. Some people who were members before 2014's price increase were "grandfathered" through that hike with a guarantee to keep their price for two years; their prices will be unchanged until at least May 2016. In 2011, Netflix said it would divorce its DVD-by-mail service from its streaming one. The DVD spinoff would be called Qwikster, and rather than a combined $9.99 bill for both, customers would pay $7.99 for each. The move enraged customers, and a chastened Netflix company ultimately aborted the spinoff idea, but not without losing 77 percent of its stock's value in four months and 800,000 subscribers. Netflix shares were up 5.4 percent, or $5.79, at $113.89 in recent trading. Source http://www.cnet.com

Dell has redesigned the XPS 15 laptop, and it’s available today starting at $1,000 for the base model, and up to $1,700 if you want something with a little more power.Dell has added its edge-to-edge "InfinityEdge" display to the XPS 15, much like the display in its popular XPS 13, and it’s looking extra nice. You’ll have the option of a 1920x1080 resolution or the 3840x2160 4K touch display. Another cutting edge inclusion: a USB 3.1 Type-C port (also compatible with Thunderbolt 3).An added bonus of the narrow bezel is that the 15.6-inch display now fits roughly into the size of an average 14-inch laptop. Its dimensions are 11-17mm x 357mm x 235mm, and it weighs 3.9 lbs for the non-touch, and 4.4lbs for the touch version.http://ec0c5a7f741a6f3bff65-dd07187202f57fa404a8f047da2bcff5.r85.cf1.rackcdn.com/images/hWfSuKoZV5ci.878x0.Z-Z96KYq.jpgDell has also upgraded to Skylake processors, letting you choose between the 2.7 GHz Core i3-6100G, the quad-core 3.2 GHz Core i5-6300HQ, and the quad-core 3.5 GHz i7-6700HQ. As for graphics, you’ll be choosing between Intel HD Graphics 530 and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M. The latter isn’t the most powerful card out there, but it's capable of good 1080p gaming performance—it's roughly equivalent to a desktop 750 Ti.8GB DDR4 memory at 2133 MHz comes with most of the options, with 16GB on the most expensive i7 model, but you can upgrade up to 32GB if you want. For storage, you’ve got the options of a 500GB HDD + 32GB Flash, or 1TB HDD + 32GB Flash. Solid State Drives are also available, with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB PCIe options.Dell claims the XPS 15 should be able to get up to 16 hours of battery life, depending on configuration. Expect to get less than that when you're gaming, of course. Source http://www.pcgamer.com/

Its main feature is the introduction of Clubs that your Sims can join based on their interests and personalities, but it looks like now Get to Work is joining its own club: the rapidly growing club of delayed games. The original release was supposed to come in November, but the latest news from EA pushes that back to December 8 (in North America anyway; the rest of us will get it some time later that same week). I guess at least that makes it a better fit for your Christmas list, which is definitely a better way of getting these expensive expansions than paying for them yourself. The update explains the delay in the same way these things are normally explained: they needed more time to "add more polish and depth". They also say they're adding some new features, and since they haven't mentioned them before that might even be true. One is a board game called Don't Wake the Llama that made me think of that Don't Wake Dad game used to see advertised on television every Christmas but looks from the screenshot to be a Jenga clone. In the latest of TF2's seemingly eternal supply of updates, the mercs are faced with their most outlandish threat yet. The update brings four new community created maps, some of them 'Invaded' versions of existing maps and others entirely new. The Watergate map introduces a new 'player destruction' mode, in which both teams have to collect beer from dead players and deliver it to a UFO in the middle of the map. It's set up in much the same way as the Gun Mettle Update, with an 'Invasion Community Update Pass' available from the store which gives you a coin that tracks kills on invaded maps for the month that the event lasts. You don't need to buy it to access the maps, and all the money raised goes to the update's community creators.Buying the pass also makes you eligible for random drops of 'Space Cases' that can contain anyone of a bunch of the new cosmetics that have also been added. When Valve have done similar things with CS:GO, I've often been able to make back the money by selling my first couple of crate drops—so long as it's in the first day or two before the price of them comes crashing down on the community market. Far Cry Primal Trailer, Release Date and gameplay details
Night Hunter posted a topic in Report News
http://static2.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/43/434805/2947621-fcp_keyart_embargo_oct_6_9am_pst.jpg Ubisoft has officially announced Far Cry Primal, a new entry in the first-person shooter series that takes players to the "savage Stone Age." It will be released worldwide on February 23, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, followed by a PC release in March. Described as a "full-fledged single-player experience," Far Cry Primal is set in 10,000 BC, at a time when "massive beasts like the woolly mammoth and sabertooth tiger ruled the Earth." As Takkar, a hunter and last surviving member of his hunting group, players arrive in an area called Oros with the singular goal of survival. "They will meet a cast of memorable characters who will help them push back and tame the dangers of the wild," Ubisoft explains. "Players will journey as the first human to tame the wilderness and rise above extinction. "Along the way, they will have to craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts, hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators and face off agains other tribes to conquer Oros." In the reveal trailer, which you can watch above, the player is seen bringing down a woolly mammoth using spears and arrows alongside other members of the hunting party, before a saberooth tiger pounces. Later on, members of a rival tribe can be seen attacking the player, who looks lost in a dense forest area. Far Cry Primal creative director, Jean-Christophe Guyot, has said he believes the Stone Age is the perfect setting for the game. “Far Cry usually puts you at the edge of the known world, in a beautiful, lawless, and savage frontier. The Stone Age is, in a way, the very first frontier for humankind; it’s the time when humans put a stick in the ground and claimed land for their own, the time when we started climbing the food chain. That came with conflict, against other humans of course, but also against nature itself." Far Cry Primal is being developed by Ubisoft Montréal, in collaboration with Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shanghai Studio, and Ubisoft Kiev Studio. The company has released a developer diary, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how Far Cry Primal came together. Far Cry 4, the last numbered entry in the series, outperformed expectations for Ubisoft, which said interest in the game was the strongest in franchise history and revealed it sold substantially more than Far Cry 3. Ubisoft chief executive Yves Guillemot has previously said Far Cry will be one of the company's tentpole franchises for years to come. "The Far Cry franchise is here for the long-run and is a stronger contender in the shooter genre," he said. http://static3.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/43/434805/2947616-fcp_announce_screen_001_embargo_oct_6_9am_pst.jpg http://static2.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/43/434805/2947619-fcp_announce_screen_004_embargo_oct_6_9am_pst.jpg http://static2.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/43/434805/2947618-fcp_announce_screen_003_embargo_oct_6_9am_pst.jpg http://static2.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/43/434805/2947623-fcprimal_conceptart_02_cave.jpg Source http://www.gamespot.com/ -
Ubisoft is teasing a new game announcement by streaming a mysterious video of a cave painting depicting a man holding a bow in one hand and a large spear in the other. The embers of a fire can be seen flitting in front of the image. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAQmt-60nUY In addition to this, eerie music, the sounds of growling beasts, and ritualistic chanting can be heard in the background. There is also what sounds like normal speech, but there's a layered echo effect on the audio, which makes it difficult to make out what's being said. The video is slowly zooming out to reveal more of the painting, so keep an eye on it. It is unclear what this project may be, but the most obvious guess would be a new entry in the Far Cry series, which has prominently featured both hunting gameplay and the bow and arrow weapon. The video description also says "survival is timeless" and survival has been a core theme of the Far Cry franchise. In November 2014, Ubisoft addressed whether it will do a spin-off for Far Cry 4 akin to Far Cry 3's 80's action movies inspired Blood Dragon. Alex Hutchinson, creative director at Ubisoft Montreal, indicated while Blood Dragon 2 wasn't on the cards, it would consider another unique setting to spin-off into. "That's was what was cool about [blood Dragon], it was surprising," he said. "It was a great use of the Far Cry 3 base, and had an awesome soundtrack. But no, you won't get another one of those. But hopefully we'll be able to surprise you with something just as much." The teaser may be related to this new spin-off. Of course, it could also be a brand new property, or something tied to For Honor, an action game that pits warriors from different civilizations against each other.http://static3.gamespot.com/uploads/scale_super/43/434805/2947135-art.jpgIn February 2015, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the Far Cry would be one of the company's tentpole franchises for years to come. "The Far Cry franchise is here for the long-run and is a stronger contender in the shooter genre," he said during a conference call. According to Guillemot, Far Cry 4 outperformed expectations for Ubisoft and interest in the game was the strongest in franchise history. The game has sold substantially more than Far Cry 3. The open-world shooter managed strong sales despite launching on the same date as other high-profile blockbusters such as Dragon Age: Inquisition and Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. And now Bud Light is trying its hand at connected cooling with a new app-enabled beer fridge that has Wi-Fi built right in. Dubbed the "Bud-E" (and slathered on all sides in Bud Light-blue branding), the new smart mini-fridge will be available online at Bud Light's website for $600. But first there'll be an initial test run in California where the price will be discounted by half, to $300. The fridge underneath that coat of bright blue paint is the Linq IQ, developed by Buzz Products, a design firm with offices in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. The Linq IQ is licensed exclusively to Anheuser Busch, so for now it'll only come in the Bud Light-themed design. Or, if you're in Canada, you can get it in a red Budweiser finish. US consumers are about to get a new defense against cybercrime. The armor will take the form of credit and debit cards with a built-in chip, which retailers must be able to read as of Thursday. Short for EuroPay, MasterCard and Visa, EMV chips create a one-time-use code needed for each purchase, which makes stolen card numbers less valuable on the black market. Consumers may see slightly longer transaction times as in-store readers run the EMV cards, assuming merchants have set up the new payment terminals in time. Industry watchers don't expect every merchant to meet Thursday's deadline, which was set last year by MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. Retailers do have an incentive to act quickly, though. Stores that don't have EMV-reading terminals will need to make good on in-store purchases made with counterfeit cards. ATMs and gas pumps will face the same liabilities in 2017. The card companies wrote that rule after cybercriminals stole about 40 million credit and debit card numbers from the payment system of retailer Target during the 2013 holiday-shopping season. Currently, the banks that issue cards are on the hook for fraudulent charges. There are two ways hackers steal sensitive information. They can use card skimmers to read a card's magnetic stripe at an ATM or gas pump. They can also penetrate retailers' corporate information systems, as they have with Target, Home Depot, Neiman Marcus and many others, to copy card numbers. Those stolen numbers can be used on fake cards to make fraudulent purchases. Two-thirds of fraudulent purchases inside stores are made with counterfeit cards, said Stephanie Ericksen, Visa's vice president of risk products. Authentic cards that were stolen account for the other third. That's where these new chip cards can help. Because the chips send encrypted, one-time codes for each transaction, the cards are harder for fraudsters to read and duplicate, experts say. While the cards are just rolling out in the US, the technology isn't new. Europe started using cards with embedded chips in 2005. Apple Pay and Android Pay mobile payments work on the same underlying rules. http://cnet3.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2015/09/23/4959cf7f-d36a-4687-a63b-619390c304cf/resize/570xauto/c2d5185e9882c675a6fe259f561ef9ca/mobile-payments-visa-paywave-chip-security-credit-cards-4865.jpg Despite the impending retailer deadline, many consumers still don't know about the new kinds of cards. In an August survey by electronic payments company ACI Worldwide, 59 percent of consumers reported they hadn't received credit cards with EMV chips. Only a third knew the United States is shifting toward chip readers. What's more, only 27 percent of merchants are prepared for the October deadline for card reader technology, according to a report released in mid-September by the Strawhecker Group, a consulting firm for the payments industry. Experts say the slow rollout could be due to the cost of new card-reading equipment. Merchants must weigh the expense of buying new payment systems and training employees on that gear against the unknown hit from fraudulent charges. Some may even consider their new liabilities the cost of doing business. Consumers will need to adapt to the new system too, experts said. "There may be some initial inconvenience at the point of sale," said TJ Horan, vice president of product management at FICO, which helps banks determine a consumer's credit risk. Despite the increased security, industry watchers don't expect card fraud to disappear. Horan likens it to squeezing a water balloon: If you push fraud out of the system in one place, it will simply shift somewhere else. Rainbow Six: Siege will not have a Single Player Campaign
Night Hunter posted a topic in Report News
http://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/R6S__S07_Alley_1427391407.jpg Rainbow Six: Siege looks incredibly interesting a s amore grounded, nuanced take on the team based multiplayer shooter, but that is also all that it will be- Ubisoft has confirmed today that the game will not have any form of a single player campaign whatsoever. Multiplayer is all that it is. That said, the game can be played single player, by playing the multiplayer mode offline and against bots. “There is no story mode per se,” saidArt director Scott Mitchell to WhatCulture. “You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customize matches, so that’s what we’re offering on the single-player side of things.” I mean, I guess it is good that the development team is at least singularly focused on its vision of what it wants to work on and is not getting distracted by other modes and inclusions, put in there just for the sake of checking items off of a checklist, but I am still not sure that there is a market out there for multiplayer only shooters- Titanfall, for example, demonstrated that. Rainbow Six: Siege launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this December. Source http://gamingbolt.com/ -

The ongoing Rainbow Six Siege closed beta is running at 1080p on PlayStation 4 and 900p on Xbox One, Ubisoft confirmed in a FAQ posted to the game's website. The PC edition's resolution, meanwhile, will fluctuate between 720p and 1080p depending on how beefy your rig is (see system requirements here). These figures are for the game as it currently stands in closed beta. Final performance could be better. "We're still looking to push the hardware as much as possible in order to deliver a quality experience for players and will be able to share more about the final resolution once we're closer to release date," Ubisoft said.http://download.gamezone.com/uploads/image/data/1191950/Rainbow_Six_Siege.jpg The Siege closed beta began on September 24 and runs through September 28. To get in, you'll need to preorder the game or acquire a key through other means. It was also confirmed today, during a panel at Europe's EGX convention attended by whatculture, that Siege will not offer "a story mode per se." That's according to art director Scott Mitchell. "There is no story mode per se," Mitchell explained. "You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customize matches, so that's what we're offering on the single-player side of things." This is not to say Siege won't offer any single-player. Back in June, Ubisoft announced that Siege will have "scenario-based missions" similar to those seen in past Rainbow Six games. "Each scenario is designed with single-player in mind, though all of them can be played in co-op," Ubisoft said at the time. "As with the Hostage Rescue mode revealed at E3 last year, there's no respawning; if you go down once, you're down for good." Siege was originally slated to launch in October, but it was recently delayed to December. Ubisoft has high hopes for Siege, as the publisher said back in May that the game has the potential to become the company's best-selling FPS ever, surpassing Far Cry 4. At the time, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the game's replayability "will be key to the game's success." Source http://www.gamespot.com/
