Three games in this season's Premier League to go and Liverpool are so close to the title they can almost feel it. But they still have Manchester City in the way and, more immediately, Huddersfield Town. You're in the right place to get a Liverpool vs Huddersfield live stream in the Premier League - regardless of where on Earth you are. What a season it's been for Jurgen Klopp's Red army. One league defeat, a Champions League semi-final, some of the best football being played in the world and yet still they may end the campaign with nothing to show for it. They still need City to trip up in their last two games to get a sniff of the Premier League and the spectre of that game five years ago at Crystal Palace hangs over them. Surely they can't slip up against Huddersfield at Anfield... It's no exaggeration to say that it's been a nightmare of a season for the Terriers. Confirmed relegated in March, a mere 14 points, 20 goals and 3 wins to their name. If last season felt like the impossible dream coming true, this one has been a harsh reality check. But imagine what a win at Anfield could do for Jan Siewert's players going into next season. A remarkable ray of light in a horribly dark season. Keep reading to discover all the details you need in order to live stream Liverpool vs Huddersfield, regardless of where in the world you are. And to find out how to watch every single league game this season, you should also take a look at our guide on how to live stream Premier League football. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/VgyagGS9HpAEPUQtUJBfrg.jpg Use a VPN to watch Premier League football from outside your countryIf you're abroad today but still want to watch your home coverage, you'll need a VPN to do so. That's because your normal coverage will be geo-blocked. It's really easy to do and stops you having to tune in to some dodgy stream you've heard about on Reddit. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/B9XNGCRYNHKJzN5zVfTMje.jpg How to stream Liverpool vs Huddersfield live in the UK http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/x4WvmjGdnEUCFeqhMUrnWo.jpg How to watch Liverpool vs Huddersfield: US live stream http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/jgvvohCEmS99W9XuRfJMSo.jpg How to watch a Premier League live stream in Canadahttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/D39crXd3gob7KPsE3LAFUo.jpg How to get a Liverpool vs Huddersfield live stream in Australiahttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/kZWNrTtXZs7Ep2c7452KSo.jpg How to watch Liverpool vs Huddersfield: New Zealand live stream http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/WWQ7UGT97CVJAVBcELPxRQ.jpg How to live stream Premier League football in Indiahttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ebGZgkd4qVX7mUuvz3WNkH.jpg http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/Tw4OGCrsP-U

We're not going to lie, as soon as we string two days of sun together here in the UK office, we start thinking about those upcoming Amazon Prime Day deals. Ok, that and whether we should chance getting the barbecue out of the shed. The sale grows in scope and ambition every year and there's no reason to not think that Amazon Prime Day 2019 won't be the biggest one yet. The online behemoth's sales event of the summer was the biggest day of sales in its history last year, with over 89 million visits logged (10% more than in 2017). We can only see 2019 being even bigger as the sale has grown every year since launching back in 2015. While November's Black Friday deals certainly see a wider range of retailers unleashing some of the hottest deals you'll find all year, Prime Day is mainly about Amazon rocking the best offers. Sure, other retailers might try to match prices or launch rival sales (and of course we'll be sure to roundup the best of them too) but make no mistake, the best deals and low prices will be found at Amazon. See today's deals over at AmazonWhen is Amazon Prime Day 2019?So, as with every Prime Day sale so far, we expect it to be a July event, taking place towards the middle of the month. We think Amazon Prime Day 2019 will take place on Tuesday July 16th - with the deals themselves actually starting the day before on the 15th and ending at some point on Wednesday the 17th. Amazon Prime Day itself seems to be growing each year, it's gone from 24 hours, to 30 and then 36 last year. So we certainly wouldn't bet against it going on for 40 hours this year. And let's face it with the Amazon Black Friday deals event now lasting about a week, anything's possible. Except sleep apparently if you're a Deals Editor. We'll be front and centre for the entire thing to ensure you can see the best deals as navigating the messy array of deals and discounted tat can be a bit exhausting directly on Amazon's site. Fortunately, we're used to trawling for deals there every day and we usually learn of the best deals way in advance, giving us plenty of time to prepare coverage for you. Amazon won't be announcing the official date of Amazon Prime Day 2019 for a while yet. It only officially announced the date a couple of weeks before the event last year, but we actually managed to exclusively leak the date a month in advance thanks to a bit of snooping around on the website. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/831811ad822a4c1dae233baf7b1358a3.jpg Image credit: Amazon What were the best-selling Prime Day items last year?Amazon sold over 100 million products around the world and over one million smart home devices – not just Amazon ones but Philips Hue lights, Hive thermostats and various manufacturers’ smart plugs. Prime Day was the biggest day ever for Echo devices, Fire tablets for kids, Kindle e-readers and Fire TV products. Amazon said the two best-sellers worldwide were the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and the Echo Dot. Both of those items have actually been replaced with newer versions since - thankfully without a bump in RRP. So we totally expect the newer Amazon Echo Dot (3rd gen) and Fire TV Stick with the all-new Alexa voice remote (it now has extra buttons for volume control and gaming) to get similar discounts for the best prices of the year. Other best-sellers included: 300,000 six-quart Instant Pots 150,000 LifeStraw personal water filtersBosch cordless power tools and Philips Hue lightsSandisk microSD cardshttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/CUsRFdReAahsufehUPAEAP.jpg What were the best deals on Prime Day?As ever, some of the best deals on Prime Day were on Amazon’s own devices, some of which have since been discontinued and replaced with new and improved models. The original Echo Show dropped from £199.99 to £99.99, the Echo Spot from £119.99 to £89.99, the 2nd-gen Echo Dot from £49.99 to £29.99 and the main Echo from £89.99 to £59.99. Kindles and Fire HDMI sticks and tablets received mouth-watering discounts too. The biggest surprise though was the never-previously-discounted Kindle Oasis dropping from £229.99 to £179.99 and the Paperwhite from £109.99 to £74.99. Both offers were the lowest ever prices, showing Amazon Prime Day deals on Amazon devices is the absolute best time to buy with prices dropping lower than the best offers seen on any Black Friday. We've not seen any sort of discount on the Oasis since actually - talk about the deal that got away. The Fire TV Stick went from £39.99 to £24.99 while Fire Tablets dropped significantly: the Fire 7 went from £49.99 to an incredible £29.99, the Fire HD 8 from £79.99 to £59.99, Fire HD 10 from £149.99 to £99.99 and the Fire 7 Kids from £99.99 to £59.99. There were some cracking deals on TVs too, some of which are now even cheaper given TV deals in general are seriously competitive here in the UK. We saw 55-inch Ambilight OLED screens go from £1499 to £1199 (or just £999 today!). On the other end of the scale a 55-inch Hisense dropped to just £369, an all-time low at the time for the model, which you can now get for an even better £329. Mobile phone deals on Amazon Prime Day don't make too many headlines, but if you're willing to pay the upfront cost of a phone rather than go for a contract, there were certainly deals to be had last year. The then year-old Samsung Galaxy S8 dropped to £439. The Honor View 10 was just £338.99. And the already very budget-friendly Moto G6 Play dropped to £135.99. So not the most modern or premium selection of handsets, but don't bet against a wider range this year as more brands are keen to get involved each year Here in the UK we saw plenty of other deals across multiple products. The biggest discounts were on coffee machines: many of them got 50% price cuts. Hive smart thermostats were 44% off, selected home security kits were 45% off and everything in the Amazon Warehouse section was 20% off. Chromebook fans got to snap up the excellent but terribly named Asus C202SA-GJ0027 for £99.99 instead of the usual £199.99. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3hjsMnZST5S5ugZpAGZVjW.jpg Image credit: Amazon How much money did Amazon make on Prime Day?Amazon was predicted to gross $3.4 billion on Prime Day last year, although we don’t know if that prediction is accurate as Amazon doesn’t release such information. However, it did announce that third party sellers shifted a billion dollars of product in just one day. As for its own sales, Amazon was content to say that “sales this Prime Day surpassed Cyber Monday, Black Friday and the previous Prime Day, when comparing 36-hour periods, making this once again the biggest shopping event in Amazon history.” That’s a little sneaky, mind you: last Prime Day only ran for 24 hours, not 36. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/DGQQv34WGyeFF43CpNPFDC.jpg Image credit: Amazon Why did Amazon crash on Prime Day? Did the crash cost it money?Amazon struggled to cope with traffic on Prime Day, an issue that affected not just the Amazon site but services such as Prime Video and Twitch. Customers found their shopping carts would suddenly empty, or links simply wouldn’t work, or they couldn’t access Amazon at all. The issues were largely confined to the US website and customers, although problems with Prime Video lasted well into the evening in the UK. Some sites got their calculators out and concluded that the worst outage, which lasted for 63 minutes, cost Amazon just under $100 million in lost sales. Amazon disagrees, saying that the effect on sales was “minimal”. CNBC has seen internal documents that describe what happened. First, it didn’t secure enough servers to cope with the demand; secondly, that shortage caused a “cascading series of failures” that knocked out key services; and thirdly, Amazon temporarily killed all international traffic to reduce the load. All of those things happened within the first 15 minutes of Prime Day. The outage wasn’t the only issue Amazon faced on Prime Day. There were also strikes in protest at the way it treats its workers. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zDeRXMxKteqhAh7WnG3LHX.jpg Image credit: Amazon Why were workers striking and supporters urging Amazon boycotts on Prime Day?Prime Day wasn’t the first time Amazon has been accused of terrible working practices, but it was a great day to get the issue into the papers. Workers in Spain and Germany went on strike over working hours and conditions while activists urged people to send Amazon a message on Prime Day by boycotting it altogether over its treatment of workers and its tax arrangements. It was also marked by a surge in health and safety complaints from UK workers. As you’d expect, Amazon denies the allegations, with a spokesperson telling us: These allegations and the data are just not accurate — safety incidents in our fulfillment centers did not increase around Prime Day, they actually decreased from the previous week. We’re proud of our team and our workplace, and invite anyone to come see for themselves – we offer public tours of our buildings and you can learn more at amazonfctours.com." Amazon also told Wired that the Organise campaign behind the publicity was indulging in fake news. “To our knowledge, Organise doesn’t verify that respondents actually work for the company they claim to work for.” http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/E5c2dvXdcrSctZFW53MhDc.jpg Image credit: Amazon What could Amazon have done better on Prime Day?It should have anticipated and been able to cope with the load not just on its ecommerce site but on its cloud services too: we weren’t the only ones irritated because we couldn’t get our Preacher fix on Amazon Prime Video. It’s all the more embarrassing when you remember that Amazon provides the cloud infrastructure for many high-profile sites and services: Prime Day wasn’t a great ad for that side of its business. Our main criticisms aren’t technological, though. Navigating the deals was hopeless and many of the deals were laughable, especially in gaming: we frequently found much better console bundles on AO.com’s eBay page than we did on Amazon. Here’s a great example. On Prime Day, one of the flagship deals we identified was $50 off a set of Bose QuietComfort 25 headphones. That brought the price down from $299 to $249. Just three weeks later, Amazon US was listing the same headphones for $169. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xvPq4qV6qh7KdFW9fzqdPA.jpg Image credit: Amazon Did other retailers try to crash Prime Day?Yes, but not as much as we thought they would. eBay had some strong deals across multiple merchants where you could get 20% off your purchases, but UK retailers kept their powder dry whereas US retailers made more of an effort. Retailers on both sides of the pond cut prices of Google Home devices (we saw that coming ahead of time), Amazon Echo’s closest rivals in the smart speaker space. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/bTBHGzFAzG55BvAVPHNb4f.jpg Image credit: Amazon Will Amazon Prime Day 2019 do things differently?Yes. CNBC reports that Jeff Wilke, Amazon’s CEO of worldwide retail, has already demanded improvements to prevent a repeat the previous Prime Day’s capacity problems: “tech teams are already working to improve our architecture”. We’d like to think that Amazon will also improve the navigation and discoverability of its deals for Prime Day 2019, although we aren’t holding our collective breath: both factors’ general rubbishness didn’t stop Prime Day breaking all records, so there’s not much incentive for Amazon to change it unless it decides better navigation will drive significantly higher sales. But that's why we're here to show you the best Prime Day deals! It’s a safe bet that Prime Day 2019 will be longer. It’s already grown from one day to one and a half; further inflation seems inevitable. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oPYcMSyMD8ykMMWjbX8yuR.jpg Image credit: Amazon What does all this mean for Black Friday and Cyber Monday? It’s clear that Amazon is prioritising Prime Day over Super Black Friday Deals Month or whatever convoluted name it’s going to give its Black Friday sales period in 2019: according to Digitalcommerce360.com, 67% of this year's Prime Day deals were lower than comparable deals on the preceding Black Friday. That’s not to say Amazon won’t take part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It will, and it’ll offer the same kind of discounting that we’ve seen in recent years. But Prime Day is more important to the firm, and we’d expect its discounts to be deeper, especially on its own devices. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/jXoeyBMLpDLNTiNzikK45b.jpg Image credit: Amazon Prime Day: why does it matter more to Amazon? There are some crucial differences between Prime Day and Black Friday. The first is that Prime Day is Amazon’s own day. It’s right there in the name, which of course refers to Amazon’s Prime membership programme and associated services. Amazon doesn’t own Black Friday, and that means ultimately it’s just another retailer shouting for attention – a massive retailer with a really loud voice, of course, but Black Friday is a sales event for the entire retail sector. It’s much harder for rivals to muscle in on something that Amazon has effectively created from thin air. The second and more important difference is that Black Friday doesn’t create new spending. It just moves it slightly. As we’ve discovered in recent years, the money people spend over the Black Friday period is money they were probably going to spend anyway: all Black Friday really does is concentrates pre-Christmas shopping in the last week of November. Prime Day spending is different in two ways. First of all, people aren’t spending the money they’d already planned to spend on Christmas presents. And secondly, they’re buying mainly for themselves, not for others. If you go back to the list of bestsellers there’s an awful lot of impulse buying in there: Instant Pots and Hue Lightstrips, frying pans and dishwasher tablets. This is new spending, not merely moving pre-planned spending. There’s another key benefit for Amazon. Its best-sellers on Prime Day weren’t just Amazon devices; they were Amazon devices that connect to Amazon services. Fire TVs, Kindle Fires, Echo devices, Alexa remotes. Each one of them connecting to Amazon Prime, and each one of them requiring a Prime membership to buy in the first place. So when Black Friday rolls around, Amazon will have a whole bunch of Prime members for whom shopping on Prime is the default, and who might want to enhance their Amazon-powered smart homes with Amazon-branded Black Friday deals. Prime Day means that for Amazon, Christmas now comes twice a year. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/0eEnuDUI4DQ

Beats has long been a power player in the consumer audio market, and since its $3 billion acquisition by Apple in 2014, the company has gone from strength to strength. Now Beats is gearing up to release its first ever true wireless earbuds in May, the Powerbeats Pro – but will Dr Dre’s brand rival its parent company’s iconic and recently updated Apple AirPods (2019)? Although we’re yet to test the PowerBeats Pro extensively, we’ve had the chance to try them out briefly, as well as take an in-depth look at the technical specifications released by Beats. Of course, we’ll be sure to update this article once we’ve been able to review the Powerbeats Pro as thoroughly as the Apple AirPods (2019). Beats and the battle for your ears: the changing sound of Dr Dre's cansApple AirPods (2019) vs Beats Powerbeats Pro: overviewThe Apple AirPods (2019) are an updated version of Apple’s original true wireless buds, the Apple AirPods, which arguably made the wireless earbud movement that much more popular. The updated buds don’t differ significantly from the originals, but they do offer wireless charging, as well as "faster connect times, more talk time, and the convenience of hands-free Siri" thanks to the inclusion of Apple’s new H1 headphone chip. As Apple is Beats’ parent company, the Powerbeats Pro contain the same H1 chip, which means much of the functionality is shared between the two true wireless earbud models. The main difference between the earbuds is their purpose; while the Apple AirPods (2019) are designed for casual listening, the Powerbeats Pro are made for listening to music while working out. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oWfdwU2oGovCA8JfGCCthG.jpg The AirPods (2019) (Image credit: TechRadar) Apple AirPods (2019) vs Beats Powerbeats Pro: price and availabilityThe Apple AirPods (2019) cost $159/£159/AU$249 with the standard charging case, and $199/£199/AU$319 with the new Wireless Charging Case bundled in. The Powerbeats Pro, on the other hand, will be significantly more expensive when they drop in May, with a price tag of $249 / £219 / AU$350. This is around the same price as the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless earbuds, which impressed us with their stylish design and high quality audio. Whether the Powerbeats Pro’s high price is justified in terms of design, features, battery, and audio quality won’t be clear until we conduct our full review, but we’ll update this article as soon as we’ve tested them more extensively. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Wre3oRGRTAw2RpsjRNStNC.jpg The Powerbeats Pro (Image credit: Apple) Apple AirPods (2019) vs Beats Powerbeats Pro: designThe design of the Apple AirPods (2019) is incredibly distinctive, with those long, stem-like protrusions and classic Apple all-white color scheme. It’s a divisive design, and many either love it or hate it; after all those stems were derided when the original AirPods were released in 2016. The AirPods (2019) draw battery from a pillbox-like charging case, which allows you to check the charge status of the earbuds via a small LED light. True to Apple’s rigid design aesthetic, the AirPods (2019) don’t feature replaceable silicone eartips or water-resistance, and while they felt fairly secure when we tested them, we probably wouldn’t use them for working out. The Powerbeats Pro, however, are built to be used while exercising, with a water-resistant design (so you’re protected during sweaty sessions at the gym), as well as ear hooks to keep them snugly in your ear while running. They also come with removable silicone eartips in a range of sizes, so you should be able to find the right fit for you fairly easily. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/LkoR7uBYvkGSRf9XYW2ANK.jpg The AirPods (2019) (Image credit: Apple) Apple AirPods (2019) vs Beats Powerbeats Pro: featuresThe AirPods (2019) and Powerbeats Pro share many of the same features, as they both contain Apple’s newly-designed H1 chip. If you’re using either model with an iPhone, you only need to open their charging cases for the option to pair to pop up on your screen. Both true wireless earbud models feature a hands-free ‘Hey Siri’ feature, which lets you summon Apple’s artificially intelligent assistant with your voice. The Powerbeats Pro also feature two beam-forming microphones on each earbud to filter out external sounds such as wind and ambient noise, as well as a super-sensitive speech-detecting accelerometer in the bud that’s used to enhance speech recognition, so they should pick up your voice really well. Both models sport physical touch controls if you prefer not to look as though you’re talking to yourself in public; the AirPods (2019) allow you to assign one double-tap control to each earbud, which we found slightly limited the amount of things we could actually achieve. The Powerbeats Pro, on the other hand, have physical volume and track controls on each earbud and are fully ambidextrous – this means that the same gestures work in exactly the same way no matter which earbud you tap. Both the AirPods (2019) and the Powerbeats Pro contain long and short-range optical sensors that allow the earbuds to automatically play/pause when you remove them or and place them in your ears – a useful feature if you quickly need to tune into your surroundings and don’t have time to pause your music. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7hQgs4t6zn4vdu5vN9Bez4.jpg The Powerbeats Pro (Image credit: Apple) Apple AirPods (2019) vs Beats Powerbeats Pro: battery life The Powerbeats Pro trump the Apple AirPods (2019) in terms of battery life, with around nine hours from the earbuds themselves, and around 24 hours of battery life when combined with the charging case. In comparison, the AirPods (2019) have five hours of battery life within the buds, but makes up for this with the additional 20 hours of juice contained within the wireless charging case. You get the same amount of battery if you opt for the AirPods (2019) with the cheaper standard charging case. Apple AirPods (2019) vs Samsung Galaxy Buds: which is best for you?Apple AirPods (2019) vs Beats Powerbeats Pro: sound Not too long ago, true wireless earbuds had a terrible reputation for audio performance, but they are getting better all the time – and the AirPods (2019) and Powerbeats Pro are both examples of this. The AirPods (2019) have a lively, powerful presentation although they can sound slightly harsh when it comes to higher-frequency sounds, and they aren’t the bassiest earbuds on the market. While we haven’t tested the Powerbeats Pro extensively yet, we were able to listen to them briefly, and were impressed by the amount of sonic power they generate, despite their small size. Beats says that this is partly down to the inclusion of linear piston drivers that displace air efficiently to create “a powerful acoustic response”. This could mean that the Powerbeats Pro have a bassier soundstage than the AirPods (2019), but we can’t be sure until we carry out our full review process. Beats also claims that the Powerbeats boast “incredibly low distortion and great dynamic range across the entire frequency curve”, but we’ll need to test them more thoroughly before we can confirm this. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/E3KURnpb4kemu78dBch4bG.jpg The AirPods (2019) (Image credit: TechRadar) Apple AirPods (2019) vs Beats Powerbeats Pro: takeawayIt’s difficult to definitively say whether one of these true wireless earbud models is better than the other without having thoroughly tested the Powerbeats Pro, but it’s clear that they have been designed with different needs in mind. While the AirPods (2019) seem to be suited to casual listening on the go, the sporty design of the PowerBeats Pro makes them more suitable for use while working out, particularly as Beats has focussed on creating snug and secure fit with those ergonomic ear hooks and adjustable ear tips. Until we’ve reviewed both models fully, we can’t speak to whether the Powerbeats Pro or the AirPods (2019)come out on top in terms of sound, but we can safely assume connectivity and pairing times are near-enough identical, as both models use Apple’s newly designed H1 headphone chip. Aside from the variations in design, there’s one other big difference between the two true wireless earbud models: the price. At $249 / £219 / AU$350, the Powerbeats Pro are nearly $100 more expensive than the AirPods (2019); a sizable contrast considering the two models share a lot of the same technology, including wireless charging and Siri-enabled voice control. So, what do you get for that extra $100? You get an earbud which is made for sports, and the ability to personalize them with adjustable eartips and a variety of color-ways – unlike the AirPods (2019). Whether the sound quality matches that high price remains to be seen, but it is possible to buy commendable true wireless earbuds for far less; after all, some of the best true wireless earbuds currently on the market are the Optoma NuForce BE Free5 wireless earbuds, which come in at just $100 (about £75, AU$134). Connected cars and autonomous vehicles may be the future but we are a still a ways off from the general public accepting their presence on public roads. According to a recent survey from AAA, 3 in 4 Americans are afraid of fully self-driving vehicles and this shows there is still a great deal of work to be done. One of the companies currently trying to improve the security of connected cars as well as the Internet of Things (IoT) is BlackBerry which recently received $40m in funding from the Canadian government to further develop its QNX platform. To better understand the issues surrounding autonomous vehicles and connected cars, TechRadar Pro spoke with Grant Courville, VP of Products and Strategy at the company’s QNX group. Apex Legends to focus on less-frequent, more meaningful updates
sincity posted a topic in Technology
Want new, fresh Apex Legends action? Then you’re going to have to wait. Respawn Entertainment, the developers behind the battle royale shooter, has doubled down on its plans to focus on seasonal update content for the game. Following a saddening report about rival Epic Games’ developers working to brutal schedules in order to keep Fortnite’s constant flow of updates coming, Respawn is instead looking to deliver content in larger, more meaningful chunks with less frequency than its competition. “We don’t want to overwork the team,” said Respawn Entertainment’s CEO Vince Zampella in an interview with Gamasutra: "The thought was, 'Hey we kind of have something that's blowing up here, do we want to start trying to drop more content?' But I think you look at quality of life for the team. We don't want to overwork the team, and drop the quality of the assets we're putting out. We want to try and raise that." Apex Legends review: a battle royale to beat Fortnite?Which is the best Apex Legends character for you?E3 2019: everything we expect to see at this year's gaming showFewer, better updatesIt’s a stance that’s been echoed by the game’s executive producer Drew McCoy, who wrote in a message to Apex Legends players: "We know that, in addition to addressing issues with the game, everyone is hungry for us to add new content. The studio culture that we've worked hard to cultivate, and the health of our team are very important. We take those things into account when we discuss our content roadmap, the production schedule, and the frequency in which we can update the game. "Our long-term goal is to ensure Apex Legends always feels alive and thriving, with a focus on quality of content over novelty or speed of release. At the same time, we want to maintain our culture as a development team and avoid crunch that can quickly lead to burnout or worse." That’s not to say there aren’t big changes on the way for Apex Legends. McCoy also stated that the game’s Season 2 Battle Pass will be taking onboard all of the criticism levelled at the game’ first Battle Pass, and should deliver “more meaningful content”, including a new legend, map changes and a new weapon. And if you’re a fan of Respawn’s other sci-fi shooter series, Titanfall? It’s not been forgotten. McCoy re-iterated that plans to release a new Titanfall game this year remain in place, with the studio set to push out plans “for future Titanfall games” in the near future. The 2019 Azerbaijan Grand Prix is ready to roll at the Baku City Circuit where drama and excitement is on the cards. With Lewis Hamilton leading the pack for his team, Mercedes, and team-mate Bottas the only other winner this season, Ferrari and the rest have a lot of work to put in. Watching the Grand Prix is much easier however, and you're in the right place to see how to get an F1 live stream from absolutely anywhere. The Baku City Circuit was home to its first Grand Prix in 2017 and last year saw one of the best races of the season with plenty of drama. Ultimately it was Hamilton who won the race. Crashes were plentiful with Daniel Ricciardo, the 2017 winner at this course, and Max Verstappen colliding despite both being Red Bull drivers. Then, behind the safety car, Romain Grosjean smashed into a wall head-on. Debris from that madness led to Bottas ending the race early with just three laps left while Vettel had a flat tyre. But having set the lap record here it's Sebastian Vettel who could impress this year, presuming the 2017 winner Daniel Ricciardo doesn't get there first. All that said, Hamilton has won the last two races of the 2019 F1 season will want to continue that streak. You can catch all the racing action live from anywhere you happen to be using this guide. It’s been over a year since the Cambridge Analytica scandal hit Facebook, and the social media giant is definitely trying to do whatever it can to safeguard user information, announcing a new set of platform policies that developers will need to follow. Under the new changes, frivolous apps like personality quizzes will receive more scrutiny before being allowed to go live on the platform, with Facebook’s product management director Eddie O’Neil stating that apps like personality quizzes “may not be permitted on the platform”. Facebook has also published a list of APIs that will be removed from the platform. New apps will lose access to those APIs on April 30, while existing apps that utilize those APIs won’t be able to access them starting June 30. Which Game of Thrones character are you?If you recall, it was through a quiz app that data firm Cambridge Analytica was able to get their hands on information of over 87 million users without permission. While these apps aren’t the problem themselves, the issue then was that Facebook let them collect user information for years without enforcing privacy policies. While Facebook has promised to take a closer look at personality quizzes and the like, the company hasn’t elaborated on the criteria it will use to examine these apps. All we know for now is that apps won’t be allowed to collect user data if that information “doesn’t enrich in-app experience”. Moreover, any app that does not use its data access permissions within 90 days will have its privileges revoked. Facebook will also run periodic reviews and audits of apps and, if necessary, remove expired permissions. How to delete Facebookhttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/TsXc0fEhdJQ

In January this year, Nikon announced that it was working on firmware that would add new features to the Z7 and Z6 full-frame mirrorless cameras, including eye detection. That firmware is now ready and, Nikon says, will roll out on May 16. The announcement was made via a 15-second video on Nikon’s European and Asian YouTube channels. The video is just a teaser, and doesn’t offer any information other than that eye autofocus (AF) is “coming soon for the Z7 and Z6”, while the date for the firmware release is mentioned below the video. Hopefully eye AF won’t be the only new feature coming to the new Z series cameras. During the initial announcement in January, Nikon also promised that the full-frame mirrorless cameras will get support for RAW video output that will work with ATOMOS Ninja V monitor recorder using the ProRes RAW codec. We were also told that support for next-gen CFexpress memory cards (which are the same size as the XQD cards the Z series cameras use) will also be added, but it’s as yet unclear whether these two features will arrive with the new firmware release in May. Microsoft has previously said that it expects to bring the new Chromium-powered version of Edge to other platforms outside of Windows, specifically mentioning the Mac, and freshly unearthed evidence indicates the browser will indeed be arriving on macOS – and possibly relatively soon. This comes from a German tech website, Windows United, which was running Chromium-based Edge on Windows Server 2016, and received a message that the platform is not supported – with a clarification that the browser only currently supports Windows 10 version 1709 or better, and macOS 10.12 or newer. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/9avsnhQdbhuWYN8pYPXkuS.jpg This ‘platform not supported’ message mentions compatibility with macOS 10.12 or better (Image credit: Windows United) So assuming this grab is legit, that would seem to suggest support for the Mac is now inbound, with macOS Sierra being the cut-off point (the version of Apple’s desktop operating system which was released in 2016). These are the best Chrome VPN extensionsHow good is Chrome really?Problems with Google’s browser? Here’s how to fix ChromeWindows United further speculates that Windows 7 or 8 aren’t even mentioned in the pop-up warning message, which could mean that support for macOS could go live even before those older versions of Microsoft’s OS – although that seems a bit of a stretch, perhaps. That said, we could easily take this as an indication that Chromium-based Edge will be arriving on macOS in the near future. And seeing as Microsoft Build isn’t too far away, taking place in Seattle come May, perhaps we might see an initial reveal of the browser for the Mac at that developer conference? That could be an ideal opportunity for Microsoft to underline just how ‘open’ it will be with the new browser. Broader browserWhatever happens, this seems to back up Joe Belfiore’s assertion in a December 2018 blog post that Microsoft intends to bring this new version of Edge not just to Windows 10, but to all supported versions of Windows (meaning Windows 7 and 8), and to “other platforms like macOS”. Belfiore promised that Microsoft would evolve the code for the browser on a broader level, to be available on as many devices as possible, while still maintaining all the benefits of having a close integration with the Windows operating system. Of course, that’s a very different stance to the original Edge, which was made exclusive to Windows 10, and wasn’t even available to those on other versions of Windows. There are clear advantages for Microsoft in switching its browser to be based on the Chromium engine, not the least of which is a raft of Chrome extensions being available right off-the-bat, and better stability and overall compatibility with websites, which is where the original Edge struggled. The counter-argument is that Microsoft throwing its lot in with Google is effectively giving the latter even more of a monopoly on the web, although to be honest, standalone Edge had made little impact anyway (and indeed had started to go backwards in terms of adoption as last year drew on). If you want to know what all the fuss is about, preview builds of Chromium-based Edge are now available to download for Windows 10, so you can go ahead and give it a spin – but as ever with early work-in-progress software, expect a few bugs. When the FCC scrapped net neutrality legislation in 2017, many media outlets and analysts warned that it was only a matter of time until a company took advantage of the situation to create a so-called “fast lane” or an optimized internet connection. And today’s the day it finally happened. First reported by Brian Crecente at Variety, an American ISP called Cox is introducing a new package for subscribers called Cox Elite Gamer that will offer 34% less lag, 55% fewer ping spikes and 45% less jitter for its subscribers who play PC games like Fortnite, Overwatch and Apex Legends. We compare the best antivirus software in 2019As well as the best internet security suitesHere's how to delete your social media accountsThe service, which is only available only for Cox subscribers in the state of Arizona for the next three months for a trial run, works by giving anyone who subscribes to it an “optimized path” to a game’s server using a white-labeled version of wtfast. To join, you’ll have to subscribe to one of Cox’s internet service packages, which range in price from $59.99 to $119.99/month, and then tack on the Elite Gamer package for an extra $14.99/month. According to a statement from Cox sent to TechRadar, subscribers to Cox Elite Gamer service then download software and log in to their preferred game through the software. The software routes the player via a more efficient internet path to the gaming servers, resulting in an enhanced experience for gamers. According to information on Cox’s website, the service will connect you to “thousands of popular game servers” and includes images of Fortnite, Overwatch and Apex Legends - though the telecom says this lineup of games could change in the future. 34% better for some or 34% worse for everyone else? What Cox wanted to emphasize to TechRadar is that you're not paying for prioritized traffic or increased connection speeds – just a more optimized connection. According to Cox, that isn't illegal and would be permissible regardless of current regulatory laws. But that raises the question: If a better connection to a game’s server is possible, why isn’t that the standard network path? According to a Cox spokesperson, that's because "Cox Elite Gamer solves a problem with deficiencies in the public Internet, NOT our network. No customer’s experience is degraded as a result of any customers purchasing Cox Elite Gamer service as an add-on to their Internet service." That said, we have a lingering concern that packages like Cox Elite Gamer set a dangerous precedent of paying extra for better access that could one day apply to all aspects of the internet, from social media to streaming video, all of which could have their own 'optimized connection.' While proponents of fast lanes argue that less government regulation is a good thing and that fast lanes could promote competition among carriers, the general fear among consumers is that cable companies will take advantage of their oligopoly and use fast lanes as a wedge to drive up internet prices. Worse, it could force consumers to choose which parts of the internet they have access to. While Cox isn't going as far as outright blocking or throttling connections to game servers, it is charging more for a service that could've been - and probably should've been - made available to all. Feature: Keeping the web safe is more difficult than you thinkhttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/x4S-E3YcxKU

Through the use of its mobile threat intelligence platform apklab.io, Avast has discovered 50 adware apps on the Google Play Store that have been installed anywhere from 5k to 5m times. The security firm has dubbed the adware TsSdk because the term was found in the first version of the malicious apps that persistently display full screen ads and even try to convince users to install further apps. The adware applications Avast discovered are linked together by the use of third-party Android libraries that bypass the background service restrictions present in newer versions of Android. While bypassing itself is not explicitly forbidden on the Play Store, apklab.io detects it as Android:Agent-SEB [PUB] because these libraries waste user's battery life and make their devices slower. Android apps used in multimillion dollar ad fraud schemeMajor mobile malware campaigns hit 250m downloadsGoogle killed over two billion bad ads in 2018The adware apps themselves, use the libraries to continuously display more and more ads to users which goes against the Play Store's rules. TsSdkThrough apklab.io, Avast found two versions of TsSdk on the Play Store that were linked together by the same code. The older of the two versions has been installed 3.6m times and was contained in gaming, fitness and photo editing apps most often installed in India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. Once installed, the apps containing the older version worked as intended but also created shortcuts on user's home screen with full screen ads shown when the screen is turned on and periodically when a user interacts with their Android smartphone. Some of the apps also contained code capable of downloading further applications, prompting users to install them. Additionally, most of the older samples also added a shortcut to a “Game center” on the infected device's home screen which opens a page advertising different games. The newer version of TsSdk has been installed almost 28m times through music and fitness apps. These apps were most installed in the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil and the UK. The new version's code is encrypted using the Tencent packer and this makes it harder for analysts to unpack. Several checks are also carried out before full-screen ads are displayed. The most important of which is the adware is only triggered if the user installs the app by clicking on a Facebook ad. The apps can detect this by using a Facebook SDK feature called “deferred deep linking”. To avoid falling victim to adware, Avast recommends that users exercise caution when downloading apps, carefully check app permissions and install an antivirus app. Keep all of your devices protected with the best antivirushttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/87cOXIb-T7k

The recently-launched Samsung Galaxy A80 boasts a novel feature: three cameras in a slide-up panel which could rotate to face either the front or back. Tri-cam rear setups are nothing new, with recent phones like the Huawei P30 Pro packing four snappers, but the Galaxy A80’s 'wow factor' was that its three cameras could spin around to the front and take selfies. We hadn’t seen a front-facing loadout with three cameras before, and weren’t sure how useful they’d be. These are the best camera phonesEverything we know about the iPhone 11What selfie-cam will the OnePlus 7 have? But with the news that both LG and Xiaomi could be working on handsets with three front-facing cameras, it seems that some companies are making bigger tech leaps in their front – not rear – cameras, which marks a change from what we usually see. That raises the question: are we going to see phonemakers pivot their focus from rear-mounted cameras to front-facing snappers? Why three cameras? The three cameras on the Samsung Galaxy A80 are a powerful main snapper joined by a 3D depth sensor and a camera with an ultra-wide lens. The first two of these can be used to take great solo selfies – by sensing depth the main camera can take pictures with the perfect level of background blur. The latter camera is better at taking selfies with a larger frame, so if you’ve got a load of friends or are in a very scenic location you can capture a much wider field of view. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xacqxdNu2EedRGEpQfWfQZ.gif The Samsung Galaxy A80. Image credit: TechRadar It’s likely other companies would pack snappers with roughly comparable roles in phones with three front facing cameras, as the Galaxy A80’s suite covers all the bases you’d need. Selfies taken with a setup like this could be second to none (although the specific post-processing processes play some part too, and an overabundance of filters of course). Unlike rear-facing loadouts, you don’t need a flash for a front-facing camera on a phone. Many devices nowadays, like the Huawei P30, briefly illuminate the entire front screen in bright white to simulate a flash-effect in a dark environment. Who actually needs great selfies? Not all smartphone users need breathtaking selfies. But then again most smartphone users don’t need quad-camera loadouts, super-fast processors or monumental battery lives, so the question of “who needs” any kind of luxury in a phone is a moot point. There would be a large audience who’d find the functions of the three cameras useful, however – as much as some try to deny it, selfies are one of the most common ways people use their smartphones, to record a moment or mood whether or not the picture is destined for social media. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/rKtuJUeVm6mF2g7gtfCBeE.jpg The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. Image credit: TechRadar Selfies are used to create or define identity, and if a front-facing camera can give users different tools to hone a picture, it’ll therefore give them more ways to represent themselves. The ultra-wide lens in particular may be useful to a lot of people. Imagine hiking to the top of a mountain, and taking a selfie to prove it, only for the narrow field of view to cut out the best sights. Or having a gathering of a lot of friends, and not being able to take a picture with all of them. An ultra-wide lens would solve these problems. What could it mean for smartphones? The Samsung Galaxy A80 has its front-facing cameras positioned on a rotating block as part of a pop-up rear panel – that’s a lot of moving parts that need to survive countless uses, and it looks like the aforementioned Xiaomi patent make take inspiration from this, in part at least. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/E5xyhDq3Aa5VHFG5Rq7Fwd.jpg The Axon V. Image credit: Axon This abundance of moving parts could bring interesting changes to one subsect of mobile phones right now – foldables. The Samsung Galaxy Fold has a durability problem, mostly because of its various mechanical elements, but pop-up camera sections like in the Galaxy A80 and future Xiaomi phone could prove a useful ‘baby steps first’ approach to moving parts in smartphones. Another trend in smartphones is a reduction in phone screen complications to try and make a perfect unbroken screen – that’s why the Galaxy A80 has a pop-up section instead of a notch to house the cameras, and many other smartphone companies are trying to find places to put the camera and speaker that aren’t in a notch. If the trends of unbroken screens and more front-facing cameras are going to peacefully coexist, companies are going to need to find ways to innovate where they place their front-facing cameras. The LG patent shows a notch that houses three snappers...and it’s big and ugly, like a device from several years ago. There have got to be better ways to hide the cameras. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/8xZx9dFA7GVcPbS7rcZPja.gif The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom edition Image credit: TechRadar Whether this means housing cameras in entire rotating sections like in the Galaxy A80, putting them in a slide-up shelf like the Oppo Find X, or cramming them in a smaller pop-up ear like what we’re expecting to see in the OnePlus 7, companies are going to have to find their own ways to innovate. We’ve already seen some intriguing new ideas for front-facing cameras in patents and launched products. The Axon V could have its cameras mounted on a ‘wing’ to the side of the device, while the Oppo Reno has a pop-up ‘shark-fin’ that opens when you need to take a shot. A Xiaomi patent shows a selfie-cam at the bottom of the display, not the top, and a patent from Google, possibly for the Pixel 4, doesn’t have any apparent front snappers at all. This all goes to show that front facing cameras are one of the most exciting ways different companies differentiate their phones from each other, and compared to aspects like cameras, screens, or processing speeds, which can often be rather similar on competitive devices, selfie-snappers are a field in which there’s still some zany ideas to be had. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/aaC8o5kpjzw

Slack's original aim of killing email in the workplace may not have panned out since its launch five years ago but now the company has announced a slew of new features designed to help bridge the gap between email, calendars and enterprise chat. The company has created a new bridge between its service and email. This means that if someone at your company is still refusing to use Slack or was recently hired, you'll soon be able to chat with them directly from within Slack. In the next few months, you will be able to @-mention these people in channels or send them a direct message and the service will automatically route these messages to their email inbox. If a user replies to these messages via email, they'll come straight back into Slack and if they decide to sign up for the service, the back-and-forth exchange will then transform into a full Slack history. Slack joins forces with Microsoft Office 365Top trends in enterprise mobile applicationsSlack brings extra security to your business chatsHowever, you won't be able to Slack just anyone by email just yet as this bridge will only be enabled if admins have provisioned these Slack users inside their organization. In the future though, the company could allow you to send emails to contacts outside your organization directly from the service. Calendars and searchSlack is also introducing a number of improvements into how it handles calendar integration. Users will soon be able to sync their Slack status with either their Outlook or Gmail calendars so that their colleagues will know when they're out of the office or in a meeting. Slack will also be able to detect when users are discussing the idea of setting up a meeting and the service will underline words such as 'today' which users can click on to create a new meeting in Gmail or Outlook. Video conferencing is also a big part of meetings which is why the company will allow its partners such as Zoom, Hangouts and Webex to show which team members are in a call within Slack with the ability to quickly join. This feature is slated to be available in Slack later this year. The company is also changing how its platform allows users to search. Currently in Slack, you can either use the search box or quick commands to search but soon the two will be combined into a single universal search where users can find unread channels or direct messages. The new search interface will likely be available to all users in the coming weeks. For now, the Galaxy S10 5G is exclusive to Verizon, but that's just for a limited time. it's due to come to AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile in the second half of 2019. But the 5G thoughThere are some caveats to the 5G aspect, though. Firstly, Verizon's 5G network is currently only available in Chicago and Minneapolis. And, it's only available to customers on Verizon's Above Unlimited or Beyond Unlimited data plans with an added $10 fee (currently the fee is being waived). Verizon has announced the new 20 cities that will get its high-end 5G connectivity, but it's not clear yet when in 2019 they'll receive it. Here's the list of those cities: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Des Moines, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Little Rock, Memphis, Phoenix, Providence, San Diego, Salt Lake City and Washington DC. Verizon plans to announce more cities later in 2019. It's worth noting that this rollout is just for Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband, and Verizon may have additional plans for rolling out wider 5G coverage using different bandwidths . What's the best camera you can buy right now? Okay, we admit it – it's an impossible question to answer, but we'll do our best to make sure you end up buying the right camera for you. You see, the best camera for a pro photographer is a million miles away from the best camera for an adventure sports nut or a novice shooter just making their first steps in photography. But if you just want to know what we think are the top ten cameras that are available right now – regardless of user level or price point – then keep on reading. What we've done then is to pick out what we think are the standout cameras in their fields, so you'll find everything here from cheap and cheerful compact cameras to advanced full-frame DSLRs. This will mean that while some have some mouthwatering features and performance, others make the grade because they're amazing value for what they offer or because they are just brilliant at the job they've been designed for. All these are cameras have been extensively tried and tested by ourselves, so if you want to know any more about any of them as well as check out sample images, just click the link to the full review. Along the way we'll explain some of the jargon and the differences between cameras, though if you need a bit more help deciding what kind of camera you need, you can get a lot more information from our special step-by-step guide: What camera should I buy? On the other hand, you may already have a clear idea of the kind of camera you want, in which case you could go straight to one of our more specific camera buying guides at the bottom of the page. Otherwise read on to find out our picks of the best cameras available right now... http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg Best cameras in 2019http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/HdpN4C6KgWBHqrbRkNVUdX.jpg Our top mirrorless camera until recently was the brilliant Alpha A7 III from Sony, but the arrival of Nikon's new Z6 means it now just misses out, though it's very close. Nikon has been late to the full-frame mirrorless party, but the wait's been worth it. Launching alongside the 45.7MP Z7, the Z6 is hard to beat for the price and offers a stunning blend of features and performance that makes its a brilliant choice for the enthusiast photographer or pro looking for a second body. The 24.5MP full-frame sensor is excellent, while the 273-point AF system (while not quite as sophisticated as the 693-point AF in the A7 III) and 12fps burst shooting should mean you'll never miss another shot. Handling is polished too, while the large and bright electronic viewfinder is a joy to use. Excellent. With so much from the X-T3 inside a more compact body – including the same sensor and processing engine, and largely the same AF system and video capabilities – you really can't argue with what you're getting for the money. No other mirrorless camera at this level can touch it right now, and while the more senior X-T3 holds a number of advantages, the X-T30's small size, feature set and price point makes it that little bit stronger overall. Packing in a brilliant 45.4MP full-frame sensor, image quality is simply stunning. But that's just half the story. Thanks to a sophisticated 153-point AF system and 9fps burst shooting speed, the D850 is and incredibly versatile piece of kit, just a home shooting action and wildlife as it is landscapes and portraits. The arrival of the Z6 and Z7 might overshadow the D850, but this is still a brilliant camera. Some will criticise the smaller Micro Four Thirds sensor format (roughly half the area of APS-C) but the effect on image quality is minor and it means that the lenses are as compact and lightweight as the camera itself. Sporting a 5-axis image stabilization system, decent electronic viewfinder, an impressive 8.6fps burst shooting speed and 4K video, it's no toy – the E-M10 Mark III is a properly powerful camera. If you can wait a little be longer, then Fujifilm's X-T30 looks like it might be the camera to dislodge the E-M10 Mark III. However, we won't know until we've fully tested it. While it shares quite a few features with the D3400, upgrades for the D3500 include a new 24.2MP sensor, better battery life (to a staggering 1,550 shots) and refined exterior controls. The D3500 is a great camera to pick up and use if this is your first DSLR, with its clever Guide Mode a useful learning tool that gives real-time explanations of important features. There's no touchscreen, but otherwise, this is our favorite entry-level DSLR right now. The original A7 and A7 II showed Sony was moving in the right direction and making all the right noises, but it's this third iteration that has particularly stood out in the mid-range mirrorless market. The core of the camera – namely a 24MP full-frame sensor, 4K video, sensor-based image stabilisation, 10fps burst shooting and a 693-point hybrid AF system – is strong enough, but with two card slots and a 710-shot battery life on top of that, you're getting excellent value for money as well as top performance. We have some reservations with the viewfinder and weather-sealing, but this is still one of the most versatile cameras around right now, mirrorless or otherwise. This is thanks in part to the camera using a large 1.0-inch sized sensor that enables the pixels to be about 2.4x bigger than they are in models like the Lumix ZS70 / TZ90, and this helps the ZS200 produce much higher quality images. The zoom isn't quite as broad as some though, but the 15x zoom should be more than enough for most shooting situations, while there's a built-in electronic viewfinder that makes it easier to compose images in bright sunny conditions. Add 4K video recording, along with Panasonic's 4K Photo mode to help capture 8MP images of fleeting moments, and you've got a very capable travel companion. If you're looking for even more performance (and have deeper pockets), check out Sony's brilliant Cyber-shot RX100 VI. The GH5S's breadth of video features is incredibly impressive, including the ability to shoot cinematic 4K footage at up to 60fps. Waterproof down to depths of 15m, don't mistake it for being merely an underwater camera; being waterproof is also useful for hikers, bikers, kayakers, and skiers. In fact, any outdoor pursuit is game for the TG-5, which is crushproof to 100kg and drop-proof from 2.1m. It can even be used in temperatures as low as -10°C. Olympus has taken the unusual step of actually dropping the pixel count from 16MP on the TG-4 to 12MP on the TG-5. Add in raw file support and this makes image quality that bit better than its predecessor, while it can shoot 4K video at 30p or high speed footage at 120p in Full HD. Our pick of the waterproof bunch. You get the look and feel of a DSLR, but you certainly don't get the image quality. But the Panasonic Lumix FZ2000 (known as the FZ2500 in the US) is different. It sacrifices a huge zoom range in favour of a much larger 1.0-inch sensor - a compromise most serious photographers will applaud. While the zoom tops out at 480mm equivalent, which is relatively short for a bridge camera, that's still plenty for all but the most extreme everyday use. We'd certainly sacrifice a little for of zoom range for better and faster optics. We love the FZ2000 because it delivers both image quality and zoom range, while also offering full manual and semi-manual controls, the ability to shoot raw files and 4K video. And while it's still far from the cheapest compact around, you get bags for the money. No other manufacturer can match the camera for its combination of a 1in sensor, 4K video recording, excellent pop-up EVF and 16fps burst mode, while the further pleasures of a tilting LCD screen, wireless connectivity and the option to shoot at up 960fps for slow-motion output on top of all that to make it even more fun to shoot with. IDC forecasts a ten-fold increase in worldwide data by 2025, with the role of chief data officer (CDO) proving to be one of the linchpins of digital business transformation. According to Gartner’s 2018 Chief Data Officer survey, today’s CDOs have one of the toughest seats at the executive table - tasked with unlocking data-driven innovation as well as integrating disparate data and analytics capabilities into a strategic discipline, whilst helping businesses to achieve competitive advantage. Early CDOs were focused on data governance, data quality and regulatory drivers, whereas today’s data and analytics leaders are fast becoming impactful change agents tasked with spearheading data-driven transformation. Currently, there’s both hype and some confusion surrounding the CDO role, but the next decade should see this position becoming more formalised and all-encompassing - sitting alongside the CEO, CFO and CRO in terms of strategic importance. With the role yet to become fully established, there’s still overlap with other roles in the organisation, such as Head of Data Management or Head of Business Intelligence (BI). It’s unusual for any two CDOs to have identical mandates or responsibilities and likely they will originate from different parts of the organisation, where they’ve risen through the ranks and then promoted to tackle a certain business need. Why IBM wants to be the brains behind the world's dataDo you speak data? Retailers and the data literacy opportunityA new era in data awarenessExperience feeding CDO roleTo fully evaluate the extent to which a CDO’s skillset will meet the needs of an organisation, it’s important to consider the various types of CDOs, where their focus lies, and the company departments they’re most closely aligned to. These include: Customer Intelligence: Sometimes referred to as Chief Digital Officer, and most closely aligned to marketing or sales, this CDO focuses on developing a 360-degree view of customers and predicting how best to optimise their experience. They will be concerned with customer intelligence initiatives around what’s working and what’s not, whilst capturing and leveraging customer sentiments on external channels such as Twitter. Risk, governance and compliance: Focused on making sure company data is accurate and secure, the majority of CDOs originate from this part of the business due to the huge priority it’s been given over the past few years. Being closely aligned with business compliance initiatives also means these CDOs are likely to have come through legal departments and perhaps security teams, so will have a strong background in these areas. New business models: Much like CEOs, a significant proportion of CDOs focus on maximising profit – a view supported by Gartner’s 2018 CDO survey which found that 45% of CDOs are mainly focused on value creation and revenue generation. In some cases, the CIO adopts the CDO role, as seen during the implementation of business process management and ERP systems. But, today a clear separation of roles is needed, although CIOs and CDOs must work together, especially where data as well as systems are involved. Re-imagining processes: The main concern for these CDOs is cost cutting and process improvements, with 28% of those CDOs surveyed by Gartner reporting cost savings and efficiency to be their key mandate, with bottom line improvements coming in second. We saw a wave of process improvements in the 90s including CRM and business application systems like SAP. Today though, the focus is more about data and measuring effectiveness, with these CDOs most closely aligned to CIOs and CFOs. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/r6FqCwFX3owwSBoVvkrEuL.jpg Image Credit: Pixabay Skills to broker conversations and fuel data literacyHaving reviewed the types of CDOs that businesses can choose from, it’s important to understand the main attributes this role brings to the executive table. Whilst excellent data skills are a given, CDOs must be responsible for raising the skill level of employees so they can achieve more with data and analytics. Gartner and Forrester both agree that the biggest stumbling block for successfully implementing data driven initiatives is culture and literacy. So, being able to broker conversations and initiatives is key, with programmes in place for all those ‘data activists’ in the company, so they feel stimulated and motivated to drive change. When it comes to change management, CDOs can learn from companies likes of Google and Amazon, who let their employees dedicate time to projects they particularly want to work on. This keeps innovation alive and organisations engaged. According to Qlik’s Data Literacy Index, two thirds of business leaders are looking to increase the numbers of data literate employees, so companies need to do everything possible to retain these people - empowering them to improve performance by ensuring they have the right data available. After all, an organisation’s next million-dollar idea could be about to break. On the flipside though, a key dilemma facing every CDO is how much data should be made available versus how much should be withheld to avoid non-compliance or regulation breach. Rules and regulations must be applied to manage this dilemma, with governance principals set by the CDO, so the brakes can be applied as required. Fusing people ideas and dataWhilst technical prowess, specialist knowledge and change management expertise are all key attributes, the CDO role must be about synthesising as well as analyzing. They must de-silo or fuse people, ideas and data - identifying interesting combinations while observing structures and synergies. This will prove particularly important when organisations are facing performance issues, or when mergers and acquisitions are planned. Business leaders wanting to drive transformational change must fully evaluate the skillsets and attributes of their CDO to ensure that their background and experience is the right fit with the business. Those in compliance-driven positions will be guided by regulation and governance such as GDPR, with vigilance being a key attribute, whereas those in customer-centric roles will be focused on maximising customer data to optimise experience. Data literacy is a critical element and fundamental to business success – with the ability to propel a business forward and reveal true business value. Given that there’s a Samsung Galaxy S10 5G it seems like a safe bet that there would be a 5G version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 too, but now that has been all but confirmed by Verizon. During the company’s Q1 2019 quarterly earnings call the company’s CEO Hans Vestberg said "the Note and the Galaxy coming this year will both have 5G", according to The Verge. While we wouldn’t quite take that as 100% confirmation of a 5G Galaxy Note until we’ve heard as much from Samsung itself, it’s pretty close to being official, especially as we've previously seen other evidence of a 5G model too. Lots of 5G phones are on the wayCheck out or hands-on Samsung Galaxy Fold reviewRead our full Samsung Galaxy S10 reviewOf course, what Vestberg didn’t say is exactly what Note model will have 5G. With the Samsung Galaxy S10 the 5G model is separate to the rest of the range as it has different specs. Whether that will be the case with the Galaxy Note 10 range or whether 5G will be offered on the standard models is unknown. Keeping it 4GWe’re fairly sure there will be models that are just 4G though, whether or not they differ in other ways, as 5G still probably won’t be widely available by late 2019 when the Note 10 range is likely to land. We haven’t heard much else about the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 yet, but early rumors suggest it might have a 6.66-inch or 6.75-inch screen and a quad-lens camera. There might also be a Note 10 Pro alongside the standard model. Don’t expect any concrete details for a while yet though, as the Galaxy Note 10 isn’t likely to land until August. Honor has given us our first official glimpse of its new flagship handset, the Honor 20. The firm has shared images of a special edition version of the phone, which it has developed in partnership with fashion brand Moschino. The shots don't give us a complete look at the phone, but from the part of the screen we can see protruding from the monogrammed bag there aren't any clear signs of chunky bezels or any form of screen notch or punch hole. Are you excited by foldable phones?5G phones are comingThe iPhone 11 will arrive later this yearOf course, this could be the bottom half of the screen, so it remains to be seen if the Honor 20 follows in the punch-hole footsteps of the Honor View 20 which launched earlier this year. Airbnb is considering producing its own television content to stream through the Airbnb app, in order to persuade users to visit new locales. The popular travel app helps connect would-be globetrotters with apartments, hotels and residences for their travels. According to a report by Reuters, Airbnb has been toying with the idea of producing its own television content for the past three years. The initiative is reportedly being pushed by CEO Brian Chesky, with everything from travel docs to mini-series featuring Airbnb hosts on the table. One source described the idea as “Let’s do shows. Let’s do films, because we want to be travel-everything.” Using one of our favorite guilty pleasures (watching TV) to provoke travel habits is a smart move, and could see Airbnb finally position itself as a lifestyle brand rather than a travel agency in the vein of Expedia. Best travel apps for your phoneHow smart tech could make your Airbnb more homeyHow AI is changing how we travelShow business is big businessWhat would Airbnb programming even look like? We know the company has been involved in travel documentaries before, notably Gay Chorus Deep South and even an upcoming TV show for the Apple TV Plus streaming service. It's unlikely we'd see a travel-themed drama or comedy show (though we'd love to see it try). With both Disney Plus and Apple's streaming platform set to launch in the coming months, and the TV landscape increasingly full of video content no one could ever have time to get through, is there room for a travel app to cash in on our taste for TV? If skimming through a documentary on Parisian cuisine, or backpacking through South America, is going to help users imagine themselves in far-flung locales – and help Airbnb distinguish itself from the competition – it could well work out well for the service. Windows 7's days are numbered, and the much-loved operating system has begun warning its remaining users that its time is nearly up. As BetaNews reports, Microsoft is turning up the pressure as it prepares Windows 7's death knell. It has already been urging users to upgrade to Windows 10, but now it's dialled up the pressure by informing them in no uncertain terms that "support for Windows 7 is nearing an end". How to prepare for Windows 7 end of lifeThe best Windows 10 deals this month100 common Windows 10 problems and how to solve themOf course, you don't have to make the jump to Windows 10 when support for Windows 7 ends on January 14 2020, but you won't receive any more security updates, leaving you at risk from newly discovered vulnerabilities. If you're determined to stick with the ageing OS for as long as possible, you can choose to dismiss the warnings, but it's advisable not to connect your PC to the internet (or any other network) if you plan to keep using it after the expiration date. The beginning of the endThe popups might seem intrusive, but Microsoft has good reason to be concerned; Windows 7 was still gaining new users as recently as February this year, when it was the OS of choice for 37.19% of desktop PC users. The notification also includes a link to a page explaining how to upgrade to Windows 10, and even buy a new PC, since one running Windows 7 is likely to be getting rather long in the tooth. Apple is well into the notion of using your Watch to do extreme things... surfing the ocean, riding waves and being totally tubular certainly is that. However, US wave-rider Robert Bainter had his prized smart timepiece ripped from his wrist by the steely clutches of the ocean, and (like most people) he assumed it would never be found again. That was despite searching for the Apple Watch with Find My iPhone, the feature on Apple's phone that lets you look for any device associated with your Apple ID - and in the end he turned on Lost Mode (so anyone finding it would see his contact details) and put down his quest. "I don't know, I just had this feeling I was going to get it back," Bainter told US news channel KLTA. Six months later, he received a call from an unknown number, and the fellow on the end of the phone asked him to describe a Watch he might have lost 'recently'. It turns out the Apple Watch had slunk three miles up the coast and was picked up by someone looking for shells. What's more impressive is that the Watch still worked - we have to assume that this model was the Apple Watch 2 or above to have a greater degree of water resistance. While this story sounds like one of those quirky ones at the end of a serious news bulletin, it actually shows the hardiness of Apple's devices. It's certain this wearable would have been submerged for more than the few hours suggested, and at greater depths. Apparently only a slight haze on the screen from the salt water was left, with the finder able to power the Watch back up and see Bainter's contact details from Lost Mode (showing it's always worth enabling that if you mis-place a device). Bainter had already bought a new Watch by the time he got his old model back, and with the screen being a bit scuffed up he probably wouldn't want to go to back to it, but it's nice to know that it's not lost in the cave of some teenage mermaid.
