  1. Windows 10 May 2019 Update users have been hit by a bug brought in by the latest cumulative update which is causing Bluetooth speakers not to work. Specifically, this is KB4505903, a patch designed to deliver various fixes, including smoothing over issues with Windows Hello facial recognition logins, and problems with Bluetooth devices. KB4505903 is supposed to resolve an audio bug and improve Bluetooth audio quality in some respects – when using certain audio profiles for long periods – but instead it seems to have rather broken things for PCs that have an internal speaker installed. How to reinstall Windows 10How to stop a Windows 10 updateWindows 10 May 2019 Update problems: how to fix themOn these machines, after installing the aforementioned patch, May 2019 Update users may find that their Bluetooth speaker will no longer connect to their PC, or if it does connect, the audio quality will be poor. A third problematic scenario described by Microsoft in its support document is that the Bluetooth speaker may connect, but the sound may come out of the PC’s internal speaker, rather than the Bluetooth device. Microsoft further notes: “Additionally, in Device Manager, you notice an entry under the Sound, video and game controllers node for Microsoft Bluetooth A2dp Source that shows a yellow bang (exclamation mark) icon.” Suggested workaroundPresumably Microsoft is currently fixing this issue, but for now, there’s a workaround detailed in the support document. Affected May 2019 Update users need to fire up the System File Checker tool and use that to repair missing/corrupted files, which is evidently the issue here following the cumulative update. To do this, you need to open the command line – and if you’re not sure how to do that, simply type ’cmd’ in the search box (next to the Start button) and click on the Command Prompt app at the top. Once that’s open, type in the following, and press enter: You may have to wait for a number of minutes for the scan and repair to actually be carried out, but once it’s finished, reboot your PC. Hopefully everything should now be back to normal with your Bluetooth devices in Windows 10. 2. Intel recently made a huge splash with the release of its Comet Lake processors for laptops and tablets, but that doesn’t mean it’s done. Hong Kong-based website, XFastest, recently shared three leaked slides from an anonymous source showing an Intel Core platform boasting a new Intel 400 series chipset and an LGA 1200 socket. To top that off, these slides also include a roadmap indicating that the 10-core Comet Lake CPUs for desktop computers are slated to roll out in the first quarter of 2020. Based on the slides, this new chipset looks to be designed to support up to 10-core and 20-thread processors. The platform details also suggest that the enthusiast level TDP is seeing a bump of up to 125W from the previous 95W for enhanced core & memory overclocking. According to ExtremeTech, Intel might be trying to avoid cutting the base clock speed as it did when moving from the 8th to 9th generations as well. The updated LGA 1200 socket and Intel 400 series chipset means that you’ll need to buy a new motherboard with these specs if you want to upgrade once the Comet Lake-S processors come out. However, jumping on board with the Comet Lake-S also includes integrated support for 802.11ax, the next generation of wireless support also known as Wi-Fi6. With the potential roll-out of the Comet Lake desktop processors coming the beginning of 2020, there will be plenty more speculation on what to expect. Intel reveals first AI chipsRead more about Intel’s Ice Lake 10nm laptop offeringsHere are the best processors you can buy in 2019How does this compare to Team Red?While we’re still hoping for slimmer CPU’s from Intel to compete with AMD’s 7nm offerings, it has decided to stick with their tried-and-true 14nm process. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how Comet Lake-S compares to AMD’s newest Ryzen options, which already go up to 16 cores and 32 threads. Intel has always led with its single core performance, and we’re excited to see how Comet Lake-S improves upon its already powerful results. And, while AMD will probably still outperform Intel in the multi-core department, maybe the extra 2 cores and increased TDP will close the gap. The true test for most people will be price. There’s no information on that yet, Intel might try and shake up AMD’s top-flight offerings. Whatever the prices end up being, we’ll keep you up to date on Comet Lake-S news. 3. Undefeated British fighter Anthony Yarde gets his first chance to land a world title tonight with a showdown tonight against Sergey Kovalev in the WBO light-heavyweight champ's hometown of Chelyabinsk, Russia. You can live stream Yarde vs Kovalev as it happens - it's even FREE to do so in some areas. Now 28-years-old, Londoner Yarde has notched up 18 straight wins - all but one via knockout - and a growing reputation in the UK, but tonight marks his first major test on the international stage. Kovalev, 36, is a three-time world champion at light-heavyweight and has fought for a world title in each of his last 15 bouts. Along with the intimidating atmosphere of an eastern Russia home crowd cheering on their hero, Yarde must also contend with a well-focused opponent who has plenty riding on tonight's fight - a big money match up with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez looks the the likely reward for Kovalev should he see off Yarde. That's because broadcasters geo-block their coverage if you try to watch your domestic TV from abroad. But there's a clever workaround for this, which is perfectly legal (assuming the broadcaster's Ts&Cs allow it) and it involves using a piece of software called a VPN - better that than trying to get some dodgy stream from Reddit. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/B9XNGCRYNHKJzN5zVfTMje.jpg How watch the Yarde fight in the UKhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/x4WvmjGdnEUCFeqhMUrnWo.jpg How to live stream Kovalev vs Yarde in the UShttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/D39crXd3gob7KPsE3LAFUo.jpg How to live stream Yarde vs Kovalev in AustraliaAt the time of writing, it doesn't appear any Aussie broadcaster is set to show the Yarde vs Kovalev fight live. 4. Arguably the weekend's stand out Premier League fixture pits the two teams with a 100% record intact against each other at Anfield on Saturday evening. It's looking like an unmissable clash, and you don't have to if you follow our Liverpool vs Arsenal live stream guide. Jurgen Klopp’s side will be looking to maintain their early gap over league favourites Man City, while Arsenal will be keen to show they can at last win an away game against a top-six rival. A clash between these two old foes usually delivers - with 155 goals across 54 games, it's the Premier League highest-scoring fixture. It also has the record for most hat-tricks, with six trebles chalked up in previous Liverpool vs Arsenal Premier League showdowns. The home side will be hoping to maintain their excellent recent record against their North London opponents, having not lost any of their last eight encounters. The most recent meeting was a 5-1 humbling dished out by Liverpool at home, which the Gunners will do well to put behind them. In terms of team news, record Arsenal signing Nicolas Pepe is expected to finally be let loose in the starting line-up for the Gunners today after coming off the bench in Arsenal's opening two matches, while Granit Xhaka looks set to make return from injury. With Alisson Becker the only major first team injury to contend with, expect Jurgen Klopp to field he's strongest eleven for what looks set to be an intriguing early season top of the table clash. 6. Whether it was down to a simple slip of the finger or tactical leaking, Canon Australia was kind enough to furnish the internet with details of its upcoming Canon EOS 90D ahead of the official announcement. The leak put an end to the idea that Canon would abandon its established EOS DSLR line and switch its focus entirely to its mirrorless EOS M and EOS R ranges, and from what we can see the 90D is quite the upgrade over the existing EOS 80D, with a fresh 32.5MP sensor, new DIGIC 8 processing engine, faster burst shooting, revamped metering and autofocus tracking courtesy of a new metering sensor, and 4K video on top of all that. What's the difference between mirrorless cameras and DSLRs?Canon vs Nikon: which camera should you buy?Best beginner DSLR: 10 cheap DSLRs perfect for new usersFor the enthusiast, it certainly seems well specified, but with the mirrorless market continuing to broaden its offerings, and far less activity on the DSLR front than there used to be, does such a model still make sense? Mirrorless hasn't won every battle – at least not yetFor those untied to any particular system, mirrorless cameras certainly appear to make more sense than DSLRs. There are far more models to choose from for a start, from many different manufacturers, which makes it easier to find a camera you like the look of, both inside and out, at a price you're wiling to pay. There are also the size and weight benefits – at least of the bodies, though far less so of the lenses – together with the likelihood of new technologies coming to these cameras first. We've also been impressed by many of the lenses developed for some of the current systems to date, even if some are monstrously big and heavy, and crazy-expensive. Mirrorless cameras can shoot in complete silence, and can achieve faster burst rates than DSLRs, and some of the latest models have highly impressive phase- and contrast-detect hybrid AF systems that cover far more of the frame than the phase-detect AF systems found on DSLRs as standard. So why buy a DSLR when you can grab yourself a very handsome Fujifilm X-T30, or compact full-frame Nikon Z6, or enjoy the high-res charms of the Sony A7R IV instead? Well, you may already own a DSLR and a collection of lenses that would be costly to replicate if you switched to a mirrorless system. (The same applies to accessories; in Canon's case, the company and third parties have had over 30 years to develop these for its SLR and DSLR lines). Acquiring a similar range of lenses may not even be possible, given that many mirrorless camera lines are still in their infancy – and many camera and lens combinations don't present a significant advantage in terms of size or weight. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ZNaPdBXAetXGUg8wYUPYh4.jpeg Anyone investing in the EOS DSLR system should find enough glass to keep them busy Sure, you can use existing EF lenses with Canon's mirrorless models via an adapter, but it's not ideal. Many photographers are also used to the more ergonomic design of the grips on the likes of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II and Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, and you may still hate the idea of an electronic viewfinder – many people do, despite just how capable some of these now are. And, while you can use those same lenses on Canon's EOS R and EOS RP bodies, neither camera is aimed at the same kind of audience likely to be drawn to the EOS 90D. Many DSLRs trounce mirrorless cameras when it comes to battery life too. If the leaked specs of the EOS 90D are to be believed, the camera can fire for over 1,800 frames per charge, which is around three or four times what the average mirrorless camera can manage. DSLRs continue to evolveIt's easy to forget that progress isn't limited to mirrorless cameras. For all their constraints, DSLRs are getting better with every generation. The EOS 90D, for example, appears to have a 32.5MP APS-C sensor, which is not only a nice step up from what the EOS 80D offers, but betters every APS-C mirrorless camera currently available – although the Canon's EOS M6 Mark II, details of which have also been leaked, appears to use the same sensor as the EOS 90D. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/v2c52b7Hv3oAzyqoTuvKbW.jpg The EOS 90D appears to have Eye Detection AF and tracking, which has been a popular feature in recent generations of mirrorless camera Live view autofocus, once a dismal affair on DSLRs, has also been a strong point for Canon since the launch of its Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, and the EOS 90D appears to have eye detection and tracking as a focus. This isn't present on the EOS 80D, but it's been a much sought-after feature in recent years, and it's one that Canon recently bought to its EOS R via a firmware update. It's not clear just yet whether on the 90D this will be available during video capture, but face detection also appears to be possible when using the viewfinder, which hasn't previously been the case on a Canon DSLR. Videographers looking to use the EOS 90D will also not only have 4K video quality to rely on, but the wealth of native lenses that make capturing more unorthodox fisheye, macro or super-telephoto footage easier than on rival mirrorless systems, the lens lines for which are still being established. Of course, adapters have made all kinds of mirrorless camera/non-native lens combinations possible, but it's hard to argue with the convenience of having a native selection of glass that maintains autofocus, auto-exposure and so on. While we're still waiting for official specs and pricing, Canon clearly believes there's a market for the EOS 90D, just as it believes there's a market for the three entry-level DSLRs it's introduced in the past 18 months. An update to the EOS-1D X Mark II ahead of the Olympic Games next year is also still plausible, just as an update to the Nikon D5 would make a lot of sense. There's no question that mirrorless cameras have a brighter future than DSLRs, but it's too early to write off DSLRs as redundant when you consider the strength and depth of their native lens lines, and that fact that many people are still perfectly happy with what they offer. 7. As that November 12 launch date gets closer, we're hearing more details about exactly how Disney Plus is going to work. Today's tidbit: sign up and you'll get access to four simultaneous streams, as well as 4K content. That's for the base $7 subscription fee, according to CNET, which makes it a very appealing proposition: for four simultaneous streams and 4K on Netflix, you need to fork out $16 every month (though you might prefer Mindhunter to The Mandalorian). The other option on the table is Disney Plus, ESPN Plus and Hulu for a total of $13 a month, but you only get two simultaneous ESPN Plus streams and one Hulu stream on top of the original Disney package. Gaming with the Blair WitchNetflix tests curated collectionsGet ready for the Apple Watch 5Speaking to Disney executives, CNET says new episodes of its original series are going to come out weekly – we won't see the same drop of multiple episodes that we do on Netflix (and which causes all that binge watching). The price is right?Disney is of course going to want to work hard to tempt people to add a Disney Plus subscription on top of Netflix – or instead of Netflix – and it seems like aggressive pricing is going to be one way of doing that. As Netflix has demonstrated, pricing can go up at any time, so Disney might see fit to tweak these price points once it's got enough people signed up. With Apple also launching a new TV and movie service this year, competition is hotting up. It's actually the Disney fan expo, D23, this weekend, so expect some more Disney Plus news to appear on the wires – Disney has also confirmed that an Obi-Wan show is coming to the service, and has released the first trailer for The Mandalorian. Some questions still remain though, including if and when the service is going to start rolling out outside of the US. We'll no doubt here more as the launch date approaches. 8. When Apple first debuted the newly redesigned MacBook Air in 2018, I quickly reacted rather strongly to the laptop’s price and specifications. The original MacBook Air, after all, had been the most affordable laptop for years, only to be revived at an inaccessible price. However, Apple has grown quite aggressive with pricing the 2019 MacBook Air model soon after its release this season, just as it did shortly after launching the original MacBook Air. Not only did Apple bring the standard price down by $100 or £100 in July, now the laptop is available for just $999 to start on the company’s online store. While we’re at it, Best Buy has been seen repeatedly selling the 2019 MacBook Air for just $899 in the US – essentially where the original MacBook Air was priced in its prime. The Mac mini is the cheapest Mac outright, and fantasticHere’s what we know about the 16-inch MacBook ProApple’s macOS Catalina looks awesomeWhat I once thought was an opulent product trying to demand attention from budgeted buyers with the ‘Air’ title (which was so deeply associated with affordability) has, at last, lived up to that legacy of value. If you can find the 2019 MacBook Air for just $899 or similarly priced elsewhere, you’re looking at a fine - dare we say premium - laptop with some luxury features and just enough processing power for basic computing tasks and forms of entertainment. In short, that price makes the 2019 MacBook Air much, much easier to recommend as an option against similarly-priced Windows 10 laptops. The MacBook Air is well positioned to once again become as accessible of a path into Apple’s computing world as it once was. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/78fBdk9RQrtW25gBVXSE5J.jpg The early 2019 Dell XPS 13. Sizing up the competitionThe $999 – or $899, if you’re lucky – MacBook Air comes with the company’s newest True Tone, Retina 13.3-inch display driven by a fanless, dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (CPU) and 8GB of memory (RAM). The laptop comes with 128GB of flash storage, accessed by two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and offers Touch ID biometric login with a fingerprint sensor in the power button. Naturally, the MacBook Air comes in Apple’s iconic and luxurious, all-aluminum chassis design. First of all, the Dell XPS 13 isn’t even available for as low as the MacBook Air is, at the time of writing, on Dell’s online store. For $1,199 – or $1,055.99 in a current promotion – the XPS starts with a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080), 13.3-inch display with 8GB of RAM and a quad-core Intel Core i5 CPU with 256GB of storage. While it has no fingerprint sensor, the laptop does have two Thunderbolt 3 ports in addition to a USB-C port and microSD card reader. The lid of the XPS 13 is a matte aluminum, but the inside is comprised of a rubbery-feeling carbon fiber material. Comparing these two laptops is not apples to apples, but if it’s a high resolution display and premium features like fingerprint login that you seek, it’s difficult to beat the MacBook Air here. This was not necessarily the case were you to compare these two laptops at both of their starting points last year. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hnHew5apN5Y2FMYUQtMsPH.jpg That's one helluva laptop for $899 (or £1,011). MacBook Air: the amazing, (more) affordable Apple laptop againApple would be wise to keep this pricing scheme up, as it would put the company in a much more favorable position when looking at it against competing flagship laptops. But, more importantly, it’s just right to have the – in many eyes – inimitable Apple experience priced more accessible to more people. I appreciate that Apple is trying to do this beyond even price cuts, with a trade-in program for old Apple hardware in which an old Mac computer can get you as much as $1,400 toward a new Mac device. If you have enough old Apple gear in your house – ideally that you don’t use – that’s eligible for trade-in, you could shave a considerable amount off the already-reduced price. Then, there’s the Apple Card or Apple’s Barclay’s financing options, both of which could help you pay for the MacBook Air purchase over time without interest, so long as you pay off the balance on time monthly and in total within a year’s time. Finally, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday looming on the horizon, it’s high time for Apple to drive the price of its most affordable laptop today down a bit further. I frankly didn’t think we’d see laptops with display resolutions at this density for such a price for another few years. After all, the 13-inch MacBook Pro has been around for years at the very same Retina display resolution and at a much less approachable price for most people. If you, like me, balked a bit at the initial price of the MacBook Air when it debuted in 2018, but appreciated it as a laptop on its face, Apple has made it a lot easier for you to buy into its arguably robust computing experience. I’ve certainly had one in a few online shopping carts over the last few weeks. These are the best Macs to datehttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/D16_aoYbuS0
  9. If you’re using Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu or similar TV streaming services regularly, you’ll likely have felt the tussle between different media competing for your all-important television time. Even if you stick largely to one TV platform, there’s then a whole news cycle around the show to keep track of and contribute to – not to mention the friends and colleagues you message about your new favorite – or least favorite – shows. It’s no wonder some of us end up doubling up: texting and tweeting mid-episode, sharing videos of ourselves on the couch to Instagram, posting comments on every YouTube video we watch, and trying to stay as social as possible while being held hostage by various screens. For Netflix in particular – a platform so associated with millennials hanging out that “Netflix and chill” has its own Wikipedia page – it’s highly possible we’ll see more built-in social features emerge, in order to enhance the viewing experience and keep users inside the Netflix platform, instead of letting them run off to other services (WhatsApp, Twitter, etc) to talk about what they’ve just watched. We spoke to Michael Pazaratz, CEO of the social messaging app Rave, to find out whether more social features are going to be the way forward for these kinds of TV streaming services. Get animated with the best anime streaming servicesYou, me, and the TV screenhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/QGNiZkrn4MsSKGtFU48HDE.jpg If you're wondering what an app has to do with this, Rave was founded five years ago to try to bring more social features to today’s streaming culture. The iOS and Android app essentially synchronises Netflix, YouTube, or Vimeo videos (or music tracks) between the smartphones or tablets of you and your friends, meaning you’re able to comment and respond to each other knowing you’re at the same place in a video – while also overlaying text comments on / below the feed. But given the rapid move away from specifically timed broadcasts, and towards on-demand watching, that social element is harder to recapture than ever. “You can now watch what you want, where you want, when you want,” he says. “There’s no longer a reason to gather around the TV at 9pm, if you can just binge a whole series on your iPad. And while this is broadly a good (and irreversible) phenomenon, it’s led to a shift from communal to solitary viewing, and something has been lost in the process.” http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/S9Qm68fTzmTmUy5um3cpvE.jpg High-profile shows like GoT – or the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel – attract viewers in the millions when new episodes land. But how can synchronized videos and messaging features help? “Chatting by text or voice recreates the social dynamics of being in the same room. Sometimes it's enough just to know you're watching together.” Naturally, any TV show with enough hype around it can get a large audience all watching as a new episode drops – whether that's online or terrestrial television. A study by electronics company Epson also found that over half of surveyed parents in the UK view TV watching as a social activity that "could help bring families closer together". But for connecting on a wider scale, the act of commenting during real-time videos is one already gaining traction. Twitch streams, Facebook Live videos and YouTube radio stations all allow users to leave comments and reactions on what they’re watching, meaning viewers can engage collectively instead of a purely solitary experience. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/jr8H9WeWjBonmtb5YvRyWA.jpeg Twitch has popularized livestreams, with viewers responding to feeds collectively in real time. It apes what’s actually a much more common phenomenon in China – where online videos will often include a stream of so-called ‘bullet comments’, named after the fast-moving projectiles that dominate the screens of Space Invaders-style arcade cabinets. These bullet comments are overlaid over the picture itself, rather than under or alongside it, with typed thoughts, reactions, emojis and exclamations from its various audience members all merging with the visual information happening onscreen (via LogicMag / @xuhulk). As if someone texting in the cinema wasn’t bad enough, you might think – but it speaks to a wider trend of a generation raised on social media, understandably finding a purpose for those social features across all kinds of content. According to Hannah Marcus, a strategist at media consultancy Discover.AI, things don’t end there either – with the rise of social viewing platforms that see people "writing and communicating directly over the content they’re watching, which has then mutated into formally interacting with the content itself (covering up shocking scenes with text, for example).” Marcus adds that “the US and UK are getting better at dealing with multiple claims on their attention, as shown by the increase in subtitle usage and multi-language content [distributed through Western platforms]. But it is a far cry from this kind of collective multi-watching experience.” What does this have to do with Netflix?http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/kurmFtJD23ZpaNUdUPwxXU.jpg GLOW Season 3: Netflix has been pushing its own original content, to become less reliant on licensing of older shows. So far, TV streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or Hulu have been resistant to too many features that interrupt or distract from the content that viewers have come to watch – with many of us paying that subscription in order remove irritating ads in the middle of our shows. But attitudes change, and Netflix is a company that has repeatedly shaken up its services in order to attract wider audiences, moving from a DVD rental service to a behemoth in online TV streaming a huge producer of original content. The Netflix app also already allows you to "share" what movie or TV show you're watching to social media platforms – and has been testing out an "Extras" discovery feed that provides you information and trailers around your favorite titles. Why not bullet comments next? “Without innovation, even the best products and business models reach their limits,” Pazaratz says, referring to the recent stagnation in Netflix’s subscriber growth. “While hot new shows are crucial, users are also looking for novel and enticing ways to enjoy them. With the competition heating up, if Netflix doesn’t innovate, others surely will.” How to cancel your Netflix subscriptionOk, but... is this something we actually want?http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/pqkK7yPik67BrKyy6cVm2L.jpg Pazaratz is pretty adamant this is something viewers are pining for: “How many people go to the movies alone? Or a music concert? Entertainment has always been a social activity, and given the option, people choose to enjoy it together.” However, that doesn’t seem to allow for those of us who like watching a few episodes of Friends by ourselves before bed, or even going to a cinema or theatre for the experience of some anonymity in a crowd. There are those of us who like to consume content in a more introverted way – away from the social pressure of discussion in more public forums like Twitter. One of the strengths of Netflix is in how it focuses on the content you're watching, without ads to interrupt you or too much of the outside world getting in – unless you want it to, of course. TV streaming services may look to get more social in the future, but they'll need to be careful not to lose focus of why people subscribe – and become more focused on the social interaction than the TV shows and films fuelling it. Will newcomers like Disney Plus or Apple TV Plus shake up the market?http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/nFiUKIOzG60

All eyes will be on George Ford (fly-half) and Owen Farrell (inside centre), with the pair brought together for the first time in over a year. The Irish will be keen to make amends for their heavy Six Nations defeat to England in Dublin back in February - a defeat that ended a two-game winning streak for the Boys In Green. Coach Joe Schmidt has a number of injury concerns going into the match, with Johnny Sexton the key absentee due to a thumb sprain. With the World Cup edging ever closer, today's match will offer a decent insight into how well both teams preparations for Japan are going. 11. St Helens and Warrington head to Wembley today for the first ever meeting between the two sides in the 2019 Challenge Cup Final. The match marks Warrington's third appearance in four seasons in the final, and they'll be hoping for a better outcome this time out having been the losing side on each of those visits to the capital. Will they make it a winning Wembley visit this time? Watch all the St Helens vs Warrington action live, even if the match isn't been shown where you are, with our Rugby League Challenge Cup live stream guide below. Currently sitting pretty at the top of the Super League with a massive 16 point gap between them and their opponents, St Helens go into today's game as clear favourites. Saints coach Justin Holbrook will be hoping his side will maintain their impressive form which has seen them go unbeaten so far in August, and they'll be boosted by the return from injury of Alex Walmsley, Lachlan Coote, James Roby and Joseph Paulo. Despite their semi-final win against Hull FC, Warrington haven’t won a Super League game since the start of July. With star half-back Blake Austin left out of the 19-man squad due to an ankle ligament tear, coach Steve Price and his team will need to dig deep to pull off a shock win. This afternoon's match brings together two of the tournament's most successful clubs, with St Helens having won the cup 12 times and Warrington on eight wins. However, it's been 11 years since the former last won the cup, while Wolves haven't tasted cup glory since 2012. Which team will end their drought? 13. As businesses have moved away from local storage in favor of cloud storage, protecting sensitive files and documents stored in the cloud has become a top priority for organizations. However, according to Kaspersky's “Sorting out digital clutter in business” report, two thirds (66%) of office workers can hardly remember what files they put in shared folders. This opens them up to security risks as malicious files could be stored right alongside company documents. Without a dedicated layer of protection in place, cloud storage can become a transfer space for malware to be distributed across an entire organization, jeopardizing sensitive business data and overall workflow. Kaspersky launches free CyberTrace threat intelligence toolCompanies don't think their cloud can keep up with securityAn inside look at Kaspersky NeXTTo help organizations better protect the files they store in the cloud, Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Office 365 has expanded its protection capabilities from Exchange Online to also include files stored on Microsoft's OneDrive cloud storage service. OneDrive protectionKaspersky's new anti-malware protection for OneDrive includes signature-based detection combined with heuristic, behavioral analysis and the latest threat intelligence to help prevent organizations from falling victim to known and zero-day threats. Kaspersky Security can detect suspicious content stored on OneDrive and the service even has the ability to immediately delete an infected file before it spreads further. Head of B2B Product Marketing at Kaspersky, Sergey Martsynkyan explained how additional cloud storage security can benefit workplace productivity, saying: “Shared storage options, such as OneDrive, are popular and widely used business tools. But if employees can have instant and easy access to shared files, then so too can malware. Businesses need to understand this risk and ensure they are not compromising their productivity due to cyberthreats, by protecting their data and workflows. Our product provides such protection for Microsoft Office 365, allowing companies to use its collaborative features and focus on day-to-day operations, rather than worrying about the security of their data.” We've also highlighted the best cloud antivirus of 2019http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/9DshBuFDTps
  14. The best wireless charger you can buy in 2019 is going to be a Qi charger. It's the de facto standard that can wirelessly charge the iPhone, Samsung phones, Pixel 3 and every major smartphone that supports wireless charging. That part is easy. Much harder is the question: What is the best wireless charger? We’ve tested a the top wireless chargers on the market to give you the pros and cons of each, along with our personal recommendations, to give you that answer. As anyone who’s bought a Qi-charging-capable phone can attest, you don’t just get a first-party charger in the box – you’ll have to venture out and buy one yourself. Aside from Samsung, none of the major phonemakers even produce their own. Our list is full of names you’ll recognize: Belkin, Anker, Mophie, and others - along with some you might not. They won’t juice up your devices as fast as wired chargers, but they’re handy when you don’t want to keep plugging your phone in and out. We’ve tested the wire-free chargers with a variety of phones, and smartwatches like the Apple Watch, and other rechargeable devices if they also charge those. We also note charging rates, in wattage, which might charge some devices faster (depending on their maximum wireless charging rating, of course). Lastly, make sure your phone can actually use wireless charging, as some older handsets - especially those with metal backs - likely don’t. Without further ado, here is our ever-growing list of the best wireless chargers we’ve seen. The Belkin 10W is a step up in design and charging power - both of which are noticeable. That charging rate refilled 16% on our iPhone XS Max in 30 minutes. The Belkin 10W has upstyled glossy plastic with matte rubber for the flat charging surface, as well as the ‘arms’ keeping your phone from sliding off the surface. It tangibly feels higher-quality, and in the solid black color, looks a bit more refined than cheaper chargers. Whether you like pads or stands is more up to personal taste, but we enjoy the usefulness of keeping your device upright to check the time and scroll through notifications. It only charges phones, though - no smartwatches or tablets. Get the Belkin BoostUp Wireless Charging Stand 10W on Amazon hereThe Anker 15W is one of the faster chargers on our list for this low of price, though only some leading Android phones will be able to notice the difference. For instance, in our 30-minute test, an iPhone XS Max only regained 10% - respectable but not tuned for Apple’s phones. Which isn't a surprise, given the latest iPhones haven't been confirmed to charge above 10W. The Anker 15W has a bit more of an industrial look than most of its peers, with a metal casing and rubber foot. It’s one of the few on our list that dispenses with plastic for refined material, which is a nicer aesthetic for your desktop. Like other pads, you’ll need to leave your device flat to keep it charging, but the faster rate should ease the sting of leaving your phone in recharge time-out. And given the Anker PowerWave 15 is very inexpensive - $35 (£35, around AU$51) on Amazon - it beats out some pricier chargers with lower rates (perhaps by shirking the 'Qi' license, as its packaging materials claim it has "Fast-Charging via Leading Technology"). Get the Anker Wireless Charger 15W hereWireless charging doesn’t have to be complicated or pricey - and the Anker 10W charger stand is an inexpensive, no-frills model to start you off. Over a 30-minute test, the Anker 10W recharged an iPhone XS Max 15% - not impressive, but given the XS Max’s 3,174mAh battery, would likely charge the smaller battery iPhone 8 far faster. Android phones with high wireless charging ratings will fare better: a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 charged 28% in the same time period. The Anker 10W won’t speedily charge your phone - it’s best deskside if you repeatedly pick up and put down your phone, or bedside overnight. An affordable entry to see if wireless charging works for you. The Mophie Powerstation Hub is a unique charger in that it’s mainly not a charger - it’s a battery pack. While it’s limited by its capacity, the capability to wirelessly charge on the go makes this a versatile (if pricey) solution. The Powerstation Hub wirelessly charges up to 5W, which isn’t terribly fast - but you can do it while the battery simultaneously charges up to 3 other devices, which is cool. The other ports include one each of USB 1.0, USB 3.0, and USB-C slots. The charger plugs directly into a wall socket to recharge, though the wireless charging won’t work while it is - a regrettable feature, but perhaps safer for the device, given how the extra weight might put pressure on the power prongs. While the Powerstation isn’t as large and ungainly as higher-capacity power banks, it won't fit in your pocket either, leaving it mostly convenient for anyone packing a purse or small bag. But with versatility comes cost, and the Powerstation Hub is by far the most expensive charger on this list. With a retail price of $99 (around £81, AU$146), this isn’t affordable for most folks - and more a niche solution for those with the cash to throw around. Get the Mophie Powerstation Hub on Walmart hereThe Belkin Wireless Charging Dock is a rarity in the wireless charging world: it can juice up both your phone and your Apple Watch at the same time. Most chargers can't service Apple's smartwatch, and this product throws in a standard phone/device charger, too. The stand is a classy off-white, like most of Belkin's charger range. The pill-shaped base has a matte finish, and the rounded, upright phone stand on the left side has a divoted lip for your device to rest in. The circular watch nub looks much like the charger that comes with the Apple Watch, including the magnet that clips the smartwatch in place. While the Apple Watch portion charges at 5W/1A, the rate of the official Apple charger, the phone portion only recharges at 7.5W. While that's certainly a lower rate than other units on this list, it may be enough for iPhones: given Apple's reluctance to disclose its specs, it's unclear if its latest phones in the iPhone XS generation improved on the iPhone X's alleged 7.5W charge, per 9to5Mac. Which means you might want to look elsewhere for a faster charger if you own an Android phone with a higher confirmed wireless charging rate. But if you have an Apple Watch, chances are you're all-in on Apple's ecosystem anyway. Get the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Dock on Amazon hereThe Pixel Stand was released alongside the Google Pixel 3 and has specific features that only activate when Pixel phones are slotted into it. True, it functions like any other 10W charger, and will refill any Qi-compatible phone's battery. It's a stand-style charger, with an angled pill-shaped back, ridged foot for traction, and circular base, all covered in a white rubber material. Slide a Pixel phone into the stand, however, and you can set it to show a gallery of photos, activate Google Assistant, and link your Nest Hello video doorbell to automatically display when someone rings it. But that's a handful of features for a steep price - officially $79 (£69, AU$119) on Google's store, though discounted a bit elsewhere - for an upmarketed 10W charger. Who knows? Maybe it will have even more features unique to the upcoming Google Pixel 4. Get the Google Pixel Stand on Amazon herehttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/NBQYuZ6Uyco
  15. VPNs are often used to bypass China's Great Firewall but Google recently banned 210 YouTube channels after it discovered that Chinese state authorities were suspected of using them to spread misinformation about Hong Kong protesters on its platform. The search giant's announcement comes after Twitter and Facebook said they would suspend almost 1,000 accounts on their respective platforms that were linked to a state-backed disinformation campaign which originated inside China. The news also comes at a time when Google and its video platform are facing increased scrutiny from US lawmakers regarding its ability to control misinformation that spreads by going viral on its site. YouTube will provide users with a 'fact-check' on sensitive search topicsChina VPN use may finally be getting easierThese are the seven deadly sins of data tamperingDisinformation campaignDirector of Google Security's Threat Analysis Group, Shane Huntely offered further insight on the disinformation campaign the search giant discovered in a blog post, saying: “Earlier this week, as part of our ongoing efforts to combat coordinated influence operations, we disabled 210 channels on YouTube when we discovered channels in this network behaved in a coordinated manner while uploading videos related to the ongoing protests in Hong Kong. This discovery was consistent with recent observations and actions related to China announced by Facebook and Twitter. "We found use of VPNs and other methods to disguise the origin of these accounts and other activity commonly associated with coordinated influence operations.” While a VPN can be a useful tool for those trying to get around region blocks or protect their online privacy, it can also be used nefariously by those who want to disguise the origin of their posts online. 16. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/WnUMhDFmaQJ7vMQPYRV4j4.jpg PAX West attendees usually come to try out the latest indie games on top-end PCs and laptops. The games and tech change with the times, but you’re still going to explore, to meet industry experts and celebs, and to get lots of free stuff. Compared to all that, Republic of Gamers’ (ROG’s) 2019 booth might be offering what PAX attendees love today—swag raffles, battle royale matches, and online personalities—but it’s also bringing something entirely new to the table. Whichever day between August 30th through September 2nd you can make it to the ROG booth, you’ll want to line up nice and early—especially if you fancy yourself a battle royale expert. It’s the best way to make sure you’re entered to win as many prizes as possible! In the morning, you can team up with a fellow PAX attendee to play Fortnite Duos on top-of-the-line ROG gaming desktops. Be on one of the first ten winning teams, and you will receive one ROG Mechanical Sculpture per player. These are limited edition mechanical eye sculptures from Metal Earth that you can build yourself, and they typically can only be found bundled with ROG laptops. So bring your best Fortnite teammate or just make a friend in line, and you could win this snazzy-looking collector’s item. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/KHr5RuYYixtYiAmYszDNJL.jpg Plus, score the highest in your match, and you’ll receive an automatic entry into the daily raffle at 3pm, for a chance to win ROG peripherals and hardware. But being a fort-building fiend isn’t the only way to win prizes. The booth will have other experiences and zones, revolving around ROG gaming devices like the newly released ROG Phone II. Check out each zone and get your ROG “passport” stamped at each location, and you’ll be entered into the daily giveaway. If you don’t luck out, you can always come back another day and try again! For another option, take a selfie while competing at the esports station and post it on Instagram. Tag “rog_na”, add the hashtag “#ROGatPAX”, and you’ll have an equal chance to win that mystery ROG swag. Despite all these different options, maybe you’re not the kind of person who overly cares about PAX giveaways. If that’s the case, consider swinging by the booth in the afternoon between 1–3pm. At that time ROG will let visitors play Fortnite matches with streamers and “influencers” that ROG invited to their booth. If you’ve ever wondered if you’re cut out for the esports life, now’s your chance to test your mettle in front of PAX crowds and see if your skills and nerves stand up to pressure. Or you can just enjoy the show. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5r6w5nySnQ4HwNQsizfF8W.jpg Two of ROG’s announced “Elite Ambassadors” for its PAX booth are Jon Kefaloukos and Addison Queen. Kefaloukos, a former Gears of War pro turned caster, is a pro esports announcer for Gears of War, Halo and Fortnite tourneys. Whereas Queen, an active-duty airman and a member of the Grunto Esports Fortnite team, brings more of a custom PC building perspective. Together they’ll commentate on matches and bring some tournament-style ambience to the ROG booth. Once you’re done trying your hand at being an esports pro and winning awesome prizes, don’t leave ROG’s booth before trying out the successor to its massively popular ROG Phone. The ROG Phone II is one of the only smartphones on the market truly designed for gaming, with built-in tech like its hardcore GPU, 120Hz HDR screen for minimal touch-to-response latency, a vapor chamber heat sink and built-in shoulder Air Triggers. Which may be why, once it went on sale, gamers snatched up all 10,000 in stock in just over a minute. We recommend you mimic the Techradar editors and conduct your own hands-on investigation, measuring exactly which features will improve your mobile gaming experience. You can play demos of PUBG or Fortnite to get a sense of how much better these demanding games run on a system designed specifically for them, compared to your current phone. You can’t ask for more jam-packed excitement, tech showcases and free stuff in one booth, which makes the ROG booth a can’t-miss stop for your PAX West 2019 plans! http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/ab727p2Otxw
  17. While looking for the best NAS drives may seem like a confusing process, it doesn’t have to be. We’ve put together this little guide to direct you to the best NAS device you can buy in 2019. Of course, we should probably dig a little into what a NAS is and what makes for the best NAS drives. A network attached storage device (or NAS) is a must for anyone working off a network instead of just one computer. These devices are in essence an external hard drive that, instead of plugging into your PC, connects to your network. Because of that, you can access the files stored on the NAS from just about any device. And the best NAS drives can even allow for you to access them remotely, so you don’t need to be in the office to get that one essential file. In addition, it doesn’t matter what OS you’re running as the best NAS devices are platform-agnostic. You’ll be able to gain access with whatever device you have available. You’ll want to keep a few things in mind when figuring out which are the best NAS drives for you. Do you need a ton of storage space? Many of the devices listed here are already packed with hard drives, making it very easy to install and use. However, you’ll want to plan for how much space you’ll want. The best NAS drive will need to be able to not only hold all your most essential files but also possibly your backups. Some of the devices require you to purchase the hard drives separately. This does allow for flexibility when choosing the size and speed most appropriate for your network. And if you’re willing to shop around for the hard drives separately, it might even save you some cash. Also, what do you need in terms of backup and redundancy from your device? Some of the best NAS drives are capable of holding more than one hard drive and can mirror the data held on each drive. If one drive fails, that’s ok. You have a backup. Additionally, the best NAS drives make it so you can back up the data to an external drive, whether as an additional measure or because you need to take the data on the road. We’ve rounded up the best NAS drives for the home and office here. And if you want more info about boosting the storage of your current NAS, you can do so by checking out our list of the best hard drives. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/00408acb74b292dd11eac2bfce42ea23.jpg Image credit: WD WD has attained quite significant success with its unashamedly consumer-friendly My Cloud products, which can stream to any DLNA-compliant device and be accessed via mobile apps for iOS and Android. Advertised as a 'personal cloud,' this WD is one of the best NAS drives by any other name and starts at 2TB of storage (you can also get it in 3 or 4TB). Because it's a one-bay unit, it can't back itself up since there's only one drive. However, it can back up to an external hard drive thanks to a USB port on the back. Read our full WD My Cloud Personal reviewhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/fCR6Cixd97ygWMFkKhb8Ya.jpg Image credit: Seagate Continuing with the 'personal cloud' theme, this unit from Seagate takes its lead from My Cloud, while offering far larger capacities, along with dual bays for two hard drives. This allows the Seagate Personal Cloud 2-Bay NAS device to mirror the files from one hard drive to a second one, securing your files in case one of those drives fails. We also appreciate the no-fuss appearance of this unit, meaning it fits easily under a router or on a shelf. Plus, it can work with cloud accounts – like Dropbox and Google Drive – and you can also use an app to share content to streamers, such as Chromecast and Roku. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/CVQeX8LHtj6cxJDBL6sFqS.jpg Image credit: QNAP The QNAP TS-251A is an extraordinary NAS device that has more features than you can shake a stick – or the included remote control – at. It includes dual Ethernet ports, an HDMI out for connecting it to a TV and respectable hardware like the dual-core 1.6GHz Intel Celeron CPU and 4GB of RAM for hardware transcoding media files. The QTS OS also lets you effortlessly install a variety of apps, from the Plex Media Server and file sharing apps to, surprisingly, a karaoke app, as well as running Ubuntu Linux for added flexibility. Long story, short: this is an incredible NAS device, even if you do have to purchase the hard drives separately. Just factor that in to the overall cost. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/bf95fb05cba2f84b428a25b9e2e73156.jpg Image credit: Buffalo As one of the best NAS drives out there, this 2TB dual-bay unit (also available in 4, 6, and 8TB capacities) comes courtesy of Buffalo, the company that also produces the TeraStation line of advanced NAS units. The key selling point of this model is that it can integrate directly with BitTorrent, which means that it can download files for you even when your PC is not on. You won’t need to worry as much about your downloads getting interrupted. Like many of the other devices listed, you can also stream to it via various devices, it's platform agnostic, and you can use it as an iTunes server. This product is only available in the US and UK at the time of this writing. The DS1817 is one such product. Most NAS devices that occupy the ‘value’ space tend to be underpowered and have little to no room for expansion. The DS1817 breaks the norms by letting users fill the included eight drive bays with whatever they desire, so that you can get as much (or as little) storage as you want. On top of this massive expandability, which helps rank it as one of the best NAS drives available, the 10GbE LAN and Quad-Core CPU also mean that you’ll never be left wanting for performance. Read the full review: Synology DiskStation DS181 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/438936945ff992e44ac6dd8ecd6b2327.jpg Image credit: WD This two-bay unit can produce a mirrored backup of your data, duplicating your files on both drives, using RAID configuration. That's quite an advanced feature for a consumer unit. Just keep in mind that you end up paying quite a lot for that capability and WD's user-friendly presentation, including an easy-to-master, browser-based control screen. This is a 4TB unit, though 6, 8 and 16TB units are also available. For extra peace of mind, you can also back up the contents to Dropbox. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/PiUZkGwLzp4drJhxVCfSSk.png Image credit: Synology Anyone looking at purely technical spec’s will instantly fall in love with the Synology DiskStation DS1517. Thanks to its quad-core CPU and up to 8GB of RAM, this NAS can reach sequential speeds of 111.4 MB/s write and 110.3 MB/s read without any trouble. Combining that raw performance with the DS1517’s expandability, and you have a formula for a NAS device that has undeniably earned its spot among the best NAS drives on the market. Just know that the DS1517 isn’t cheap, and unless you’re a creative professional, or you’re looking for a NAS for a small business, it might be a bit too much. Read the full review: Synology DiskStation DS1517 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/dkTiXAC9BgCZQEYLiBDSLg.jpg Image credit: WD Featuring RAID capabilities found in pricier and more intricate NAS devices, as well as offering Microsoft Active Directory support, this box is designed for small business use. That’s without mentioning that it can also act as a file server, FTP server, backup server and P2P download server. In addition, WD's EX series is available in diskless variants, though this price is for the 4TB version. 8TB, 12TB and 16TB units are also available to purchase. If you don't need any of this extra stuff, then go with the My Cloud Mirror. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hgYMn4G2MPc6ngSkSuHE38.png Image credit: Western Digital If you're looking for one of the best NAS drives to help manage your backup needs, the DL4100 might be worth a look. One of the coolest features of this device is its web dashboard, which provides users options for backing up to cloud services such as Dropbox and Box. Additionally, it has the ability to set up SMS and email alerts in case the system fails for whatever reason. As far as storage options go, the DL4100 is equipped with four drive bays and comes with your choice of four configurations. Despite some annoying issues with wireless transfers, we found that the DL4100's 1.7GHz dual-core Atom processor and 2GB of RAM (configurable up to 6GB) performs admirably. Combine this with a simple setup and cloud connected web apps, and you have an interesting backup device on your hands. And while you're now rolling in super fast fibre speeds (more metaphorically than literally) it would be nice if there was an added incentive to help reduce that cost. With BT, that is what they're offering. Across a range of its fibre broadband deals, BT is giving away BT rewards cards of up to £110. That's a pre-paid Mastercard that you can use anywhere that accepts them, either in store or online. That's a pretty great incentive for those investing in new internet. And considering BT plans already have a lot to offer - speed guarantees, no price rises and powerful smart hubs - these vouchers are just the icing on an already tasty looking cake. 20. The Your Phone app in Windows 10 is a handy tool for connecting smartphones up to the operating system, allowing you to view and reply to messages, but Microsoft has now admitted that to get the most out of the app, you’ll need to have the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10. The revelation comes in a Twitter exchange, where Microsoft employee Analy Otero Diaz reveals that the new Note 10 can use the Phone Screen feature – where the screen of the phone is shown in Windows 10 – on any Windows PC running the Windows 10 May 2019 Update without needing a Bluetooth connection. How to download and install the Windows 10 May 2019 UpdateThese are the features Microsoft has killed with Windows 10 May 2019 UpdateWe rank the best smartphones of 2019This is notable (excuse the pun) because Your Phone doesn’t offer the Phone Screen feature for any other smartphones – only Microsoft’s Surface products. Not needing Bluetooth is another boon for people with desktop PCs without Bluetooth built in. Again, Diaz confirms that for the moment, this is “part of the Link to Windows feature coming out first on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 devices.” Microsoft loves SamsungThese exclusive features are part of the Link to Windows tool that Microsoft and Samsung have collaborated for the Note 10, and make Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone even more of a powerful productivity tool. However,if you use the Your Phone app and don't want to pay for the expensive Galaxy Note 10, the fact that you’re missing out on some very useful features will be disappointing. Another Twitter user asked Diaz if those features will come to all devices in the future – not just the Galaxy Note 10. According to Diaz, “we will share more details in the future about expanding to additional devices,” so there’s still hope for non-Note 10 owners. 21. The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro haven’t been out long, but OnePlus typically refreshes the range with a ‘T’ model later in the year and we’re expecting the same to happen this year. That might surprise you – after all, the Pro model is a new part of the range so could easily have replaced the T update, but rumors of a OnePlus 7T are starting to roll in, so it seems there’s no real change in the company’s release strategy. Coming so soon after the OnePlus 7 we wouldn’t expect many massive changes, but there are a number of things we’re hoping to see, which you’ll find listed below. We’ve also highlighted all the key news and leaks surrounding the OnePlus 7T, so read on for those too. Update: Leaked sketches show that there might be big changes to the camera for the OnePlus 7T. Plus, we now have an idea of when the OnePlus 7T might be announced and when it might go on sale. Cut to the chaseWhat is it? The next OnePlus phoneWhen is it out? Likely OctoberWhat will it cost? A lot - but less than most flagshipsOnePlus 7T release date and priceThe only release date rumor so far for the OnePlus 7T points to a September 26 announcement, but oddly only for India. That will apparently be followed up by an October 10 announcement for the US and Europe, and an October 15 on-sale date (though the source doesn't specify whether that's a worldwide on-sale date or just for some regions). If that October 15 date sounds familiar it's because an earlier unclear tweet from the same source also pointed to October 15. TechRadar later received confirmation from a source close to the matter that this date was wrong, but at that time it was assumed that October 15 was being put forward as the announcement date, not the date the phone would go on sale. So it's very possible that the dates above are accurate. We'd take them with a pinch of salt for now, but they're all we really have to go on at the moment. These dates would also more or less line up with past releases. The OnePlus 6T was announced in October 2018 then hit stores in November, while the OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 3T were both announced and went on sale in November of their respective years, so an October or November announcement looks very likely. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/qr3vc5zvCiqtyfH33JsMmY.jpg The OnePlus 7 undercuts most comparable phones As for what it will cost, it’s first worth noting that we might get two new phones – a OnePlus 7T and a OnePlus 7T Pro. But in any case, based on past form we wouldn’t expect prices to be much different to the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, though they may rise a bit. That would mean a likely starting price of at least £499 (around $600/AU$890) for the OnePlus 7T and at least $669 / £649 (around AU$990) for the OnePlus 7T Pro, assuming both phones launch. However, it’s worth noting that the standard OnePlus 7 isn’t officially available in the US and neither model came to Australia. The first of those points suggests that it might make sense for OnePlus to only launch one 7T model, since not all regions got both of the 7’s anyway. OnePlus 7T news and rumorsThere isn’t much in the way of leaks surrounding the standard OnePlus 7T, but the company's CEO has confirmed that a new OnePlus phone with 5G will be launching by the end of the year - so this will almost certainly be the OnePlus 7T. And two separate leaks have now possibly shown the OnePlus 7T Pro. One set of images was shared on Weibo (a Chinese social network) and shows the alleged OnePlus 7T Pro from both the front and back. However, it’s in a case, so many details are obscured, and what we can see looks basically identical to the OnePlus 7 Pro. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XxAtSgNK2jfHdsJPmV7r5Y.jpg That includes a curved bezel-free screen, and three rear cameras in the same arrangement. The only possible difference is that the speaker grille above the screen looks as though it might be more prominent, which could suggest an audio upgrade. The same design can also be seen in the leak below, albeit only the front of the phone this time. That said, IBTimes India claims to have received confirmation from OnePlus that this second set of images actually just shows the OnePlus 7 Pro. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/2TMi5DUyBBmRy8FAaffxKH.jpg That’s interesting because the speaker again seems to stand out more here than on the 7 Pro, but it could just be the design of the case emphasizing it. In any case, it seems these images are likely fake, which also makes us seriously question the images further up in this article, since the design is the same. It would make sense for the design to stay much the same though, since ‘T’ models tend to look similar, just with a few spec upgrades. Having said that, an alternate design has also been leaked. First seen in the photo above back in December 2018, and then more recently leaked in the sketches below. This design shows a circular camera block, which is quite a change from the shape on the OnePlus 7 range and could suggest some major photographic upgrades. As noted though, the 'T' models usually don't get much more than a specs upgrade, so we'd take this with a pinch of salt. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/KMsriaHasp8A7rjxGqGkuE.jpg Speaking of specs, we can only speculate there, but one obvious potential improvement is the chipset. Not that the OnePlus 7 is lacking in that area, but with the Snapdragon 855 Plus having arrived the 7T could be a prime candidate for it. What we want to seeThe OnePlus 7 and especially the OnePlus 7 Pro were impressive phones, but they could be even better with these upgrades. 1. A class-leading camerahttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oCxUtW2cUmuofcFtdW2oDa.jpg The OnePlus 7 Pro has lots of lenses but they could use work While the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro both have decent cameras, they’re not among the best around, and given that the OnePlus 7 Pro is essentially a flagship, it’s not unrealistic to ask for it to have a truly top camera. So we hope that the OnePlus 7T and/or OnePlus 7T Pro does. We’d particularly like to see low-light photo quality improved, along with the ability to zoom in further. 2. An IP ratingWhile OnePlus claims that the OnePlus 7 range does have some water resistance, there’s no official IP rating, meaning no certainty as to how water resistant the phones are. The lack of an IP rating was apparently to save money – since it costs money to get the phones certified, and since even with such a certification most brands don’t cover water damage as part of the warranty. It’s a reasonable argument, but for the OnePlus 7T we’d still like the reassurance that an IP rating provides, and ideally improved water resistance too, since various third-party tests suggest the OnePlus 7 range isn’t quite as water resistant as most flagships. 3. An in-screen camerahttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/jupbgj2mL2hYyWPHWriP3N.jpg The OnePlus 7 Pro's pop-up camera is cool, but not without problems The standard OnePlus 7 has a teardrop notch for its front-facing camera, which almost feels dated in 2019. The OnePlus 7 Pro meanwhile has a pop-up camera, which is more modern and allows for an all-screen design, but also makes the camera feel more vulnerable. Not only that, it also makes facial recognition less appealing, since you have to wait for the camera to pop up, and since doing that dozens of times a day to unlock your phone could wear the mechanism out. So for the OnePlus 7T we’d love to see an in-screen camera. That would allow the phone to retain the OnePlus 7 Pro’s all-screen design, without any of the problems that come with a pop-up camera. We should note that this is unlikely to happen. While the tech exists, it’s not yet available on any handsets, and with the T model likely to be a minor upgrade we wouldn’t particularly expect it, but you never know. 4. Wireless chargingOne small feature that OnePlus hasn’t yet embraced is wireless charging. This probably isn’t a huge deal for most people, but it is a standard flagship feature, so it’s something we’d like to see, especially with the OnePlus 7 Pro being more of a real flagship, rather than the usual more affordable alternatives that OnePlus offers. 5. A slimmer, lighter, smaller buildhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/JKS5Y2rpk3dKhNHcetMjv.jpg The OnePlus 7 Pro is a substantial handset The OnePlus 7 Pro in particular is a big, heavy and fairly thick thing, so we’d love to see the OnePlus 7T get shrunk down slightly, and be a bit lighter. There will be limits to what can be done here while still offering a big screen and battery, but we reckon that refinements are possible. And the screen doesn’t really need to be quite as big as the OnePlus 7 Pro’s mammoth 6.67-inch one anyway. 6. A bigger battery with better lifeThe OnePlus 7 has a 3,700mAh battery and the OnePlus 7 Pro has a 4,000mAh one. Those are both respectable sizes, but not the biggest around, and neither phone delivers particularly brilliant life. So we’d like to see a bigger battery in the OnePlus 7T, and beyond that possibly some software or hardware optimizations to help it last longer. Though in the case of software optimizations, we don’t want the company to take the sort of approach that could interfere with the functionality of apps. 7. Fast charging from third-party chargersThe OnePlus 7 range charges very fast, but only if you use an official OnePlus charger. That’s not a huge problem as one comes in the box, but if you ever need a replacement or a spare, they’re expensive. This also means that if you borrow someone else’s charger you won’t get fast speeds (unless they happen to have a OnePlus one) and nor will you get fast charging from portable chargers/power banks. So we’d like to see this addressed for the OnePlus 7T. We're also waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S11http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/VJcoAm9YqQc
  22. There's now little doubt that OnePlus is working on a new rear camera design for an upcoming handset, after another image showing the rumored layout appeared. The shot comes from reliable leaker @evleaks, who posted the image on Twitter in response to a post from December 2018 by a different leaker who published an image showing OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, in a meeting looking at a screen with the design in question displayed on it. Leaks say that the handset is expected to launch soon, but just exactly how soon is still up for debate. We expect the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro launch to happen sometime in October (going on the firm's previous launch record) - but the 'T' variants tend to be incremental upgrades from the year's earlier device launch. The leaked images show a radical design shift from the rear camera setup on the back of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, and it would be surprising - but not out of the question - if OnePlus made the switch for the 7T series. The Google Pixel 4 could arrive at a similar timeBut first we'll see the iPhone 11And have you checked out these 5G phones?http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/KMsriaHasp8A7rjxGqGkuE.jpg Could this be the OnePlus 8?Another option is the handset we're looking at here is actually the OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro, which we don't expect to arrive until May 2020. We'd expect the 8 series to feature bigger upgrades over the 7 and 7T devices, and an overhaul of design has - in the past - usually been reserved for OnePlus' new number models. There's also the option that we'll never see a OnePlus device with this particular rear camera design, as we could just been looking at prototype concepts which may not see the light of day. If the leaked design is accurate, it means a major photography update could well be in line for future OnePlus smartphones - although details on what will be housed in the large black circle are still unknown for now. OnePlus 7T could land in September, but initially only in Indiahttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/OkXXwVt4Blk
  23. The Apple Watch 5 is likely to land in September and yet, unlike the iPhone 11 – which has leaked extensively - we haven’t seen much of it yet. But that might be starting to change, as a leaked photo may have given us our first real look at the wearable. Uploaded on a currently private Instagram account and shared by SlashLeaks, the image shows a close-up of the screen of an Apple Watch, complete with information on the software and model, and it’s this that makes us think it might be the Apple Watch 5. That’s because not only is it apparently running the not-yet-released watchOS 6, but, more importantly, it has the model number A2157, which isn’t attached to any current Apple Watch. Check out the best smartwatchesThese are the best fitness trackersThe Google Pixel Watch could also be on the wayIt is however a model number that was recently filed with the Eurasian Economic Commission, as spotted by MacRumors. Being filed there suggests that it’s a real model and coming soon, so this photo could be the real deal. Looks familiarHaving said that, the image could easily have been altered, and if it is real it doesn’t give away much, as what we can see of the design looks a lot like the Apple Watch 4. That’s not totally surprising though, as Apple changed up the look a bit for that model, so likely wouldn’t be making any major physical changes again this year. Indeed, rumors so far point to the possibility of new ceramic and titanium casings, but are otherwise focused on software and less visible features, such as sleep tracking and a microLED display. So even if this image is fake, it might be close to how the Apple Watch 5 will look. We should find out for sure soon, as the new wearable is likely to be announced alongside the iPhone 11 range, which is currently rumored to land on September 10.
