  1. Well ladies and gentlemen, it's back. Vodafone's impressive 100GB SIM only deal has once again returned with its affordable pricing and massive data cap. Only this time it has made its comeback with some variety, giving you options on how you like your deal. There is effectively three different versions of this offer. The first two drastically drop the price of your SIMO through cashback, one offering £90 in cashback and the other £120. Weirdly, we would personally recommend the lower amount, simply because it comes through to you automatically. The second cashback option comes in the form of redemption. That means you have to claim back your money in five separate instalments, the perfect option for those determined to get the best saving. Finally, if the cashback offers above don't manage to win you over, there's another option and it is exclusive to TechRadar readers. Skip the cashback and you could get a free pair of wireless Jays headphones, which cost £69.95 on Amazon.co.uk. No matter which of the above options you choose, this is an excellent SIM only offer that is more than worth going for - we have more details about them below. With the exclusion of other offers from Smarty and Three on unlimited data, you won't find anything quite like this for value. Compare this SIMO to the rest with our SIM only deals guidehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/VgyagGS9HpAEPUQtUJBfrg.jpg Vodafone SIM only deal + cashbackVodafone SIM only deal + free headphonesWhat if I want a shorter term SIM only deal? Not too keen on committing to a full year of Vodafone? No problem. If you want some flexibility with your SIMO then Smarty, a relatively new player to the game, has an incredible unlimited data offer right now. Cutting the price down to an incredible £18.75, there is no beating this offer for unlimited data. Where this offer really shines is in its flexibility. You are simply tied into a 1-month rolling contract, allowing you to leave whenever you want. Stay for 1 month or your whole lifetime and you will pay £18.75 either way. 2. Gran Turismo Sport has been on the road for a while now but that doesn't mean new things aren't coming over the horizon. This time it's rain clouds. In a new video posted by the Gran Turismo TV channel, below, there's footage of the game's first heavy rain track in action. The video shows a rainy lap in the Red Bull Ring from behind the wheel of a Peugeot RCZ Gr. B. rally car. The driver of the car is Coque Lopez, a racer for Williams Racing eSports. As a professional, Lopez knows what he's doing so if you think this video makes driving in wet conditions look easy, think again. See how to watch an F1 live stream from anywhereGran Turismo Sport only has one mildly damp track at the moment so the addition of some different driving conditions will no doubt be welcomed by seasoned players looking for a new challenge. At the moment there's no confirmation of when the wet weather update will go live but it's been expected for a long time now - all of the in-game cars are already compatible with wet weather conditions. With footage finally appearing, it's likely that players won't have to wait too long before an official date is confirmed. Looking for some more racing games? 3. Fortnite Season 10 is coming – and Epic Games has decided that deserves a small bump in the game's minimum requirement spec, so some of you running older graphics cards might have to invest in an upgrade. The use of a DirectX 11 graphics card will go from being a recommended requirement to an absolute requirement for Fortnite Season 10, a per an official update. "While a DirectX 11-capable graphics card has always been one of Fortnite’s system requirements, we’ve kept support online for players with older graphics cards – so they could keep playing!" explains Epic. We hired our own Fortnite trainerNetflix is testing some new featuresGet the latest Fortnite building tips"However, when Season 10 begins, Fortnite will no longer be compatible with these older graphics cards. This allows us to focus our development and testing efforts to further optimize the Fortnite experience for all players." Time to upgradeWith compatible cards stretching back to 2009 (AMD) and 2010 (Nvidia), there's a very good chance that you're already running DirectX 11-ready hardware – but just in case you're not, you need to think about upgrading. A compatible card won't cost you much either, with plenty of lower-end models on the market to pick from. DirectX 11 stretches all the way back to Windows Vista. While there's been no official confirmation, with Fortnite Season 9 ending on August 1, it's a good bet that Fortnite Season 10 will start on August 2. That gives you a decent window of time for sorting out your hardware. We haven't heard much at this point about what Season 10 might bring with it, but expect the usual tweaks to the map and other features, and a teaser trailer in advance. 4. It’s been close to seven years since the initial release of Diablo 3, so obviously we're expecting that it's only matter of time before we start another monstrous loot hunt through Sanctuary in the inevitable Diablo 4. While Blizzard Entertainment hasn't actually confirmed that Diablo 4 is in the works, it seems pretty likely. Read between the lines of the company's statements on the topic and it seems fair to suggest that something is definitely on the way, and it definitely seems Diablo shaped. Following the furore around the disappointing announcement of mobile game Diablo: Immortal at Blizzcon 2018, we're expecting Blizzard won't make the same mistake again at this year's Blizzcon. Want to know more? Here’s everything to know so far about the development of the long-awaited Diablo 4. [update: Reports suggest that Blizzard has cancelled work on its StarCraft shooter and shifted resources over to Diablo 4. Read more below.] Diablo 3 (Nintendo Switch) review: battling demons, while on the toiletBest free Android games / Best free iPhone gamesDiablo Immortal: everything we know about the Diablo game for mobile phonesCut to the chase: is Diablo 4 coming out? What is it? The rumor of another entry into the veteran action-role playing dungeon crawling series. When can I play it? With the game yet to be officially revealed, there’s no word on release yet. Evidence suggests so far that it’s at least a couple of years away.Diablo 4 rumors, development and hiresMore development focus Recent reports have stated that Blizzard is no longer working on a StarCraft shooter and has decided to shift development focus over to Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2. This is good news for those waiting with bated breath for Diablo 4 updates as it shows Blizzard is entirely focused on the game. With a larger team behind it could we see more updates soon? Given Blizzard won't be attending Gamescom 2019, it could still be some time. Blizzard won't be at Gamescom 2019 In a news post from Blizzard Entertainment, the developer confirmed that it won't be attending Gamescom 2019. But why? "As part of a renewed effort this year to maintain our focus on development, for our current games and our future projects, we won’t have a booth at Gamescom 2019," the post reads. "The show is an important one for the European and global gaming community, and we’re going to miss meeting players in Cologne this year. "We’re also looking forward to sharing more details about the projects we’re currently working on when the time is right." While the post itself doesn't shed any light on what these projects might be, it does clarify that if we are getting a Diablo 4 announcement this year, it'll likely not be until BlizzCon 2019 (in November). What we know so far When Blizzard Entertainment revealed Diablo Immortal at Blizzcon 2018, there was an uproar. Hordes of fans had been hoping for news on Diablo 4, given the length of time since Diablo 3’s release. But instead they were introduced to a mobile-only touchscreen spin-off title. Whether it proves itself to be good or bad was almost irrelevant – fan’s wanted a proper, PC-first numbered entry into the series, and were fearful that Immortal would be a watered down, cynical attempt to draw more money from their pockets. Blizzard denied that there was anything else ever set for an unveiling at the event, but a post to YouTube back in August suggested otherwise. In it, community manager Brandy "Nevalistis" Camel stated that there were “multiple Diablo projects in the works”: "The forges here at Blizzard are burning hot. And we have multiple Diablo projects in the works. Some of them are going to take longer than others,” stated Camel. “But we may have some things to show you later this year. We hope you stay tuned, while we work to bring these Diablo experiences to life. None of this would be possible without the support that you have shown us for over 20 years. "So whether you first joined us in Diablo 3 or you are a seasoned veteran, thanks you. Diablo is, and always will be, part of Blizzard's identity, and we can't wait for the future." While we now know that one of those in-development projects is Diablo Immortal, an educated guess would be that one of the other projects could be Diablo 4. So what’s pointing us towards a Diablo 4 game in production? In a February 2019 earnings call, COO Coddy Johnson stated that Diablo's development headcount “will grow substantially as the teams work on several projects underway for the franchise”. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7RdePunHXKiSTX3QTQjM3N.jpeg Diablo games are known for their moody dungeons. (Image Credit: Blizzard Entertainment.) This followed multiple job listings that pointed towards skills needed for a Diablo title – one was hunting for a “skilled Dungeon Artist” with “a focus on composition, detail and mood, while ensuring that the gameplay space is readable," as well as a technical artist who could "help the environment and prop teams define, create, maintain and streamline the modelling and world-building pipeline and processes to bring to life the world of Sanctuary." Of course, Diablo 3 remains an active concern at Blizzard, so these roles could be purely for maintaining that existing game. But with the majority of Diablo Immortal’s development being handled by Blizzard’s Chinese partner Tencent, Johnson’s call for a headcount rise would point to something more substantial being in the works. Indeed, back in 2016 Blizzard was on the hunt for a new game director "lead the Diablo series into the future." Such a future-gazing role would almost certainly include a mainline Diablo title. Works in progress: Diablo Hades and / or Diablo FenrisGame development is often iterative. Diablo 3 was in the works for many years and prototyped in many different ways before becoming the game we know today – and even then, it’s changed dramatically since its (somewhat shaky) initial launch. Diablo 4 will likely be no different, and an incredibly interesting report from Kotaku back in 2018 pointed to multiple iterations of Diablo being in the works at Blizzard – one that has now ceased experimentation and has been shelved, the other what is reportedly now the foundation of Diablo 4. Note that these rumors come from sources we’ve not been able to independently verify, but, working alongside the Kotaku UK team and being able to vouch for their integrity, we’d say there’s legitimate information here that could point to the direction that Diablo 4 is headed towards. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/mo6xbziV3BPJQnBwiXRFTD.jpg Diablo 3, modified to play from an 'over-the-shoulder' perspective. (Image Credit: Mr Monstrosity / Diablo Fans) – Hades (or ‘Diablo as Dark Souls’): the first of these projects was codenamed ‘Hades’. Sources speaking to Kotaku described a game not dissimilar in approach to Dark Souls – an over the shoulder, hardcore dungeon crawler. Work on Hades spanned 2014-2016 reportedly, and included top Blizzard talent including Diablo 3 director Josh Mosquiera. Given the popularity of Dark Souls, broadly similar RPG mechanics and the shared gothic aesthetic of the two, this would have been an interesting and fresh direction for the series to take. However, sources state that the game just wasn’t gelling, with the team eventually going on to make the excellent Rise of the Necromancer DLC for Diablo 3. – Fenris (a return to Diablo 2’s darkness): the second (and reportedly ongoing) effort to make Diablo 4 was codenamed ‘Fenris’, and was worked on by the same team that canned Hades. It would be a more traditional isometric Diablo title, and would see the caricature, colorful aesthetic of Diablo 3 ditched in favor of a darker, grimier, more horrifying look that bring the creepy dread of the first two Diablo games up to date. "There’s a lot of people who felt like Diablo 3 got away from what made Diablo Diablo in terms of art style and spell effects," one unnamed Blizzard employee told Kotaku. "They want to make [Fenris] gross, make it dark, [get rid of] anything that was considered cartoony in Diablo 3… Make what people were afraid of in Diablo 2, but modern." Fenris is also discussed in highly social terms, taking cues from the likes of World of Warcraft and Destiny. While it wouldn’t be an MMO, it could well be a ‘live game’, with social areas that players can meet in before heading out into instanced dungeon raids. Could it be that the Diablo franchise is about to experience a schism? One that sees the more approachable stylings of the Diablo 3 era be carried as the mobile Diablo Immortal experience, freely monetizable away from the ire of the hardcore Diablo fan, while Diablo 4 goes back to the horror-infused roots of the earlier games in the series, as being worked on with the Fenris project? It’s a reasonable idea. Whatever happens, we’ll have all the most up to date information on Diablo 4 here. So keep checking back as we delve deeper into the growing darkness at the heart of Sanctuary. The best RPGs to play on PC todayhttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/v1aOM1603jg
  5. If you're in the market for a tablet, but don't want to splash out too much, there are two main brands you're going to be looking at – iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tabs. Apple's most basic iPad range, most recently the iPad 9.7 (2018), brings Apple's iOS operating system from iPhones to slates, and is affordable by Apple standards. Samsung Galaxy Tabs come in various models, but the cheapest is the Tab A range, and the last entry in that line was the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018). It runs on an Android operating system, so presents quite a different experience than the iPad 9.7. These are the best tabletsThese are the best Android tabletsCheck out the best iPadsSo which entry-level tablet should you spend your money on? We'll run through the main differences between the slates to help guide your decision. iPad 9.7 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5: priceThe first major difference between the iPad 9.7 (2018) and Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018) is the price – although both are meant to be entry-level slates aimed at a more affordable price point, one is quite a bit more pricey than the other. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/n7H5WcnXp63v6VWxPxWEk4.jpg Image credit: TechRadar You can pick up the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 for $329 / £249 (roughly AU$470), or $419 / £299 (roughly AU$600) if you want a version that can connect to LTE networks. Whichever model you pick, it only comes in a 32GB size. Still, that's a fairly low price for a tablet, so it definitely falls into the 'affordable' bracket. The Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018) isn't available in Australia though, so if you're based there, your choice between tablets is set to be a lot easier. The iPad 9.7 (2018) will set you back a little more, as it starts at $329 / £319 / AU$469 for a 32GB Wi-Fi model, rising to $559 / £539 / AU$799 for a 128GB model with Wi-Fi and LTE. That's generally quite a price rise on the Galaxy Tab A 10.5, especially in the UK, so you'd expect a better tablet as a result. Design and displayIn terms of screens, you're actually getting the same tech in both the iPad 9.7 (2018) and Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018), in the form of IPS LCD touchscreens – that means there shouldn't be a huge difference between the two in terms of max brightness and how good colors look. As the names suggest, the sizes are different though, at 9.7 inches and 10.5 inches respectively, so you're getting a bigger screen on the Galaxy Tab A. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/jezv4UMNqnj5FR5Mf4GbV6.jpg Image credit: TechRadar The resolution of the iPad is 1536 x 2048 for a pixel density of 264 pixels per inch, while the Galaxy Tab A is 1200 x 1920 for 216 pixels per inch, so while the latter is bigger, images shown on it won't be as sharp. This might be a concern if you're a cinephile or someone buying a tablet for artwork, but many people might not notice the difference. As one tablet is bigger than the other in screen size, it also has a larger body. The Galaxy Tab A 10.5 has dimensions of 260 x 161.1 x 8mm compared to the iPad's 240 x 169.5 x 7.5mm, so the former is longer and thicker, but the iPad is actually wider. That's in part due to the differing aspect ratios - the Galaxy Tab is 16:10, while the iPad 9.7 is 4:3. You're also getting a heavier device in the Galaxy Tab A 10.5, as the Wi-Fi model weighs 529g, which is 60g more than the 469g Wi-Fi iPad. There's a similar difference for the LTE model, with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 weighing 534g, while the iPad 9.7 weighs 478g. Both tablets have glass fronts, but the iPad 9.7 has an aluminum body, while the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 is plastic – this makes the latter feel a little less premium. In general, though, both conform to the standard tablet design of a rectangular device with thick bezels. Both slates have 3.5mm headphone jacks, which is something many premium tablets are missing, but while the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 has a USB-C port, which lets it charge quite quickly and makes it compatible with many peripherals, the iPad has a Lightning port, which makes for slower charging. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vRqoFhGwYk9xJvBVMmVLhX.jpg Image credit: TechRadar One other important point worth noting is the Galaxy Tab A's rear camera bump, which sticks out quite a way – you can't actually put the tablet flat on a table without it rocking, so you'll have to splash out on a case to compensate for this unless you like to hold your tablet while you use it. Battery life and cameraThere's no clear winner in terms of battery life between the tablets, and that's because they both take roughly as much use before running out of charge. In the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018) you'll find a 7,300mAh battery, and there's an 8,827mAh power pack in the iPad 9.7 (2018) – while that makes it seem like the iPad will last longer, don't forget it has a higher resolution screen, so you might find them lasting around the same amount of time. In fact if anything Samsung's might last longer, as the company claims its slate can last for up to 15 hours of internet use on Wi-Fi, while Apple quotes 10 hours. Charging is a similar story – the Lightning port used on the iPad is rather outdated, compared to the USB-C on the Galaxy Tab A, so you'll find the latter charges quite a bit quicker than the former. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vmrKCjobf4P6v7TrYbwKpD.jpg Image credit: TechRadar Camera performance isn't something you necessarily look for in a tablet, and as such the gadgets rarely have powerful cameras, but slate snappers can still be useful for a range of functions. Both tablets have an 8MP rear camera, and pictures you take on them will have roughly the same level of quality. However while the iPad 9.7 has a 1.2MP front camera, the Galaxy Tab A's is 5MP, so your video calls and selfies will be of a higher quality on Samsung's slate. Specs and featuresInside the iPad 9.7 (2018) you'll find the Apple A10 Fusion chipset, which was also used in the iPhone 7, and would now rank among the mid-range modern processors. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 comes with the Snapdragon 450 chipset which, again, is a few years old, but it was a mid-range rather than flagship chipset when it was released, so overall it's the lesser of the two. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/6dwRJBwuhrjtioLajyr5C9.jpg Image credit: TechRadar The Galaxy Tab A does beat the iPad in terms of RAM, with 3GB as opposed to the Apple tablet's 2GB, but in benchmark tests we found the iPad had about 50% more power than its Galaxy rival, likely because of the chipset. When using the interface, the iPad is noticeably quicker and easier to operate, and in general iOS is better optimized for tablets than Android – the performance difference between the slates becomes more obvious the more you use them, and it quickly becomes clear the iPad is much easier to use. The iPad also has a fingerprint scanner in its home button, whereas you'll have to type in your password for the Galaxy Tab A, which makes unlocking the iPad much quicker. Plus, the iPad 9.7 (2018) supports the Apple Pencil, making it a better bet for digital doodlers - though this costs extra. Verdicthttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hJF43GgWtVDN7vYamWKmBE.jpg Image credit: TechRadar When you're using the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 (2018), it feels a little lacking, both in terms of interface speed and software, and the feel in your hands, and Android just isn't well optimized for tablets yet. However, the Galaxy Tab A is a cheaper device, and provides you with a bigger screen, so if you want your tablet as a big device to watch content on the go, it's a safe bet, especially as it also has potentially better battery life. But if you want to use your tablet for work or playing games, the iPad 9.7's extra processing power and better operating system should lure you in. 6. Your next iPad Pro or MacBook Pro could come with an OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display attached, according to new reports from Asia. The primary reason? A shortfall in iPhone sales. According to ETNews, Apple owes a penalty to Samsung for not buying as many iPhone displays as it promised to. Apparently, that penalty might be paid through future orders for tablet and laptop devices. It's not a rumor that's come completely out of the blue – there had already been whispers that Apple would turn to OLED technology for the next round of iPad Pro devices and for the 16-inch MacBook Pro that is reportedly in development. More leaks swirl around the iPhone 11The LG V50 ThinQ goes with OLEDWhat you can expect from Wi-Fi 6The most recent MacBook Pro bump was just last month, though it wasn't a major revision. The last iPad Pro launch, meanwhile, was back in October, so we could be due new models before the end of the year. OLED vs LCDOLED and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) take different approaches to screen tech, mostly in the way the screens are lit: pixel by pixel, in the case of OLED, or across the display as a whole, in the case of LCD. Thanks to advances in manufacturing processes down the years, both OLED and LCD can give you very good screens – the differences aren't as pronounced as they used to be. That said, OLED usually offers deeper, richer color and better brightness. LCD screens have one big advantage though: the lower cost of making them. That's why OLED has been largely restricted to smaller devices like phones and tablets so far, though OLED is becoming more popular on hardware such as laptops, and is starting to dominate the TV scene too. The LCD panel is one of the reasons the iPhone XR is cheaper than the other two iPhones Apple launched in 2018. We'll have to wait and see whether Apple decides to go all in with OLED for the 2019 iPhones. iPhone XR vs iPhone XS: which of Apple's most recent phones is best for you?Via MacRumors http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/_swxC-lH61o
  7. Speed and tech are both coming to the Middle East models for Ford Edge. If you prefer performance, Ford is bringing the new Edge-ST to the region which features a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 335 horsepower and 515 No of torque. That is sure to get the mid-sized SUV noticed amongst the enthusiast segment- but that’s not necesarily our typical viewer. For us techies, Ford is adding features previously found on the optional Co-Pilot 360 as standard. Every Ford Edge will now have features such as Post-Collision Braking, Evasive Steering Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centring. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/enKz8U5wRAqm7TGM2KwtEP.jpg These feature make the Ford Edge 2019 model a great car for anyone that values safety. Technologies like Blind Spot Information System, which uses radar to alert drivers of approaching vehicles entering their blind spot by flashing an indicator light, and cross-traffic alert, warning drivers of traffic approaching from the sides when backing out of a parking spot or driveway will help drop the number of accidents on the road. Other Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist features include evasive steer assist, providing drivers with steering support to help avoid collisions with a slow or stopped vehicle if a potential accident can’t be mitigated by braking alone. Lane centring technology, which detects lane markings on the road help keep the vehicle centred while adaptive cruise control with stop and go capability allows drivers to set a desired speed and distance between themselves and the vehicle ahead. Get yourself connectedWireless charging is becoming a standard feature on high-end phones and the Ford edge has a wireless charging pad nestled in the forward media bin. Also present is a 12-speaker B&O PLAY Premium Audio System by HARMAN which is sure to impress when you play your favorite tunes. Also present is Ford's SYNC3 system on an 8-inch touchscreen that supports both CarPlay and Andrpid Auto along with its own AppLink, an enhanced voice-recognition communications and entertainment system. This system gives users access to their favourite media content, daily appointments, and the ability to search for nearby points of interest, all from the road. Inside, a redesigned centre console is accentuated by an all-new rotary gearshift dial that frees up space, allows easier access to the wireless charging pad and enhances the vehicle’s modern, sophisticated feel. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/WDTQoyeZvjM
  8. If you’re after an Apple Watch, then chances are you’re considering the Apple Watch 4 or the Apple Watch 3. Both are still sold by Apple and they look superficially similar. However, there are a number of differences between them. So to help you make the right choice we’ve compared Apple’s two latest wearables across all the categories that matter, so you can see what’s the same, what’s different, and how much you’re going to have to pay for each. From design and display to fitness, features, power, battery and beyond, here’s everything you need to know about how the Apple Watch 4 and the Apple Watch 3 compare. Design and displayThe biggest physical difference between the Apple Watch 4 and the Apple Watch 3 is the size of the body, as while the Apple Watch 4 comes in a choice of 40mm or 44mm, the Apple Watch 3 is available in a choice of 38mm or 42mm. So the Apple Watch 4 is bigger, which – coupled with smaller bezels – allows it to have a larger screen. In fact, even the 40mm Apple Watch 4 has a larger display area than the 42mm Apple Watch 3. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/C3U2iwvnrxVnyWkgNwPoWS.jpg The Apple Watch 3 is smaller but thicker. Image credit: TechRadar While the Apple Watch 4 is larger though, it’s slightly slimmer, at 10.7mm, compared to 11.4mm for the Apple Watch 3. Other than that, the colors slightly differ, with the Apple Watch 3 being available in black and silver shades, while the Apple Watch 4 is additionally available in a gold one. The Apple Watch 3 also has a red dot on the crown, which the Apple Watch 4 doesn’t, and the Apple Watch 4 is currently available with a wider selection of straps. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Afao3732mfDAaQQuuTVvtT.jpg The Apple Watch 4 has an improved screen. Image credit: TechRadar As for the screen, as well as being a bit larger on the Apple Watch 4 it’s also a bit sharper, coming in at 324 x 394 if you pick the 40mm option or 368 x 448 if you go for the 44mm one, while the Apple Watch 3 is either 272 x 340 or 312 x 390, depending on whether you go for 38mm or 42mm. However, they’re both OLED screens and have the same maximum brightness. Both watches are also waterproof to depths of 50 meters. Fitness and featuresThe biggest difference in fitness features between these two wearables is that the Apple Watch 4 has an ECG (electrocardiogram). This allows it to monitor for atrial fibrillation. It’s not available everywhere, but you can use it in the US and the UK. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/aiBwGg2YHjUiAmpf6EqDCP.jpg Want an ECG? You'll want the Apple Watch 4. Image credit: TechRadar The Apple Watch 4 also comes with fall detection, which the Apple Watch 3 doesn’t, and while both models have a heart rate monitor, an accelerometer and a gyroscope, they’ve all been improved for the Apple Watch 4. You’ll also get haptic feedback from the crown on the Apple Watch 4. The other features are mostly similar. Both watches have GPS and come in optional LTE varieties. Both also include a full range of exercise tracking skills, including swim tracking. They’re arguably still not quite as good for fitness as a dedicated sports watch, but they come close. OS, power and batteryBoth the Apple Watch 4 and Apple Watch 3 run watchOS 5, so there’s not much difference here, though as it's a newer device, the Apple Watch 4 is likely to get software updates for longer. You should also get more power from the Apple Watch 4, as it has an Apple S4 chipset, which the company claims is up to twice as fast as the S3 in the Apple Watch 3. Both watches have up to 16GB of storage – though the Wi-Fi model of the Apple Watch 3 has just 8GB. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Q7G6P2efHn9rdnFAXo7Drg.jpg The Apple Watch 3 is less powerful but has similar life. Image credit: TechRadar As for battery, Apple doesn’t reveal the sizes, but has said to expect up to 18 hours of use from each. In practice we found that this is a conservative estimate for both watches, as they both easily last over a day in general. If you’re not a heavy user you could even get two days out of them, but there’s not much difference in life between the two. PriceSo far, the Apple Watch 4 has come out on top as you’d expect, but it’s the price that might make you look to the older model. The Apple Watch 4 starts at $399 / £399 / AU$599 for the smaller model without LTE. The larger version without LTE starts at $429 / £429 / AU$649. Adding LTE to the mix brings starting prices to $499 / £499 / AU$749 and $529 / £529 / AU$799 for the 40mm and 44mm models respectively. The Apple Watch 3 meanwhile starts at $279 / £279 / AU$399 for the 38mm model and $309 / £309 / AU$449 for the 42mm one, rising to $379 / £379 / AU$549 or $409 / £409 / AU$599 respectively if you want it with LTE. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/6wDipKHKBjTLetQrBoeUzK.jpg The Apple Watch 4 is better, but costs a lot more. Image credit: TechRadar TakeawayWhile these are both great smartwatches there are some clear upgrades on the Apple Watch 4. Mostly notably the ECG feature, the newer chipset and the bigger screen. But it’s also a substantially more expensive device, so if those things – and the numerous smaller upgrades – don’t matter to you, then the Apple Watch 3 is a great cheaper option. But if you do care about those upgrades or simply want the best Apple Watch available, then the Apple Watch 4 is the clear choice. 9. Imagine how much Netflix binge watching you could do if minor inconsiderations like work, emails, or social networks weren't getting in the way. Well, that might well be easier in the future, thanks to a pop-out player Netflix is testing for Windows and macOS. First reported by Engadget, the mini player can be launched with a click from the web player in the browser, and then stays on top of other windows so you can get on with something else while keeping an eye on Netflix. It's not clear just how widely this is being tested: we haven't spotted the new feature ourselves but some users have come across it and posted the news on Twitter. As with any Netflix test, there's no guarantee it'll make it as a permanent feature. There's a new 4K Amazon Fire TVtvOS 13: everything we're expectingMore news on the Huawei Mate XNetflix hasn't officially commented on the new pop-up player, except to confirm to Engadget that a test is underway, so we'll have to wait and see whether it makes the grade. It seems something that a lot of users would find helpful though. Testing... testing... 1-2-3Only yesterday we brought you news of another Netflix test that's underway: adding the option to have your phone vibrate in time to the movies and shows you're watching. Again, we're not sure if that's going to become a permanent feature. But it's clear that Netflix is experimenting with all kinds of ways to help it stand out in an increasingly crowded market. Two of the biggest names in tech and entertainment – Apple and Disney – are launching their own Netflix-style services this year. Netflix is going to need more of its Originals to hit their targets, as well as a steady stream of special features in its software and apps, if it's going to carry on competing once the content libraries become more fragmented. If you're a Netflix subscriber, keep an eye on the web player and the service's apps on other platforms for new features and further tests as they appear. 10. Editor's note: Looking for a Phone Service for your business? If you're looking for information to help you choose the one that's right for you, use the questionnaire below to have our partner site, BuyerZone, provide you with information from a variety of vendors for free: The modern office has become increasingly digital, and the office phone service is no different. While once a desk might have been covered with a bank of phones, now employees can use their smartphones or mobile devices on the go, wherever they are at work, using nothing more than an app to join with the corporation's business phone network. Not only does this allow employees to work more productively, but with less of an outlay on hardware costs, it means that cloud-based telecoms systems can be very cost-efficient as well. Set up is usually easy and very simple, as it requires little more than signing up to a digital service and then accessing it once paid for. While there may be some small configuration settings that need to be done, this can take only a few minutes. Once completed you now have a full service phone system that can scale up to as many employees as you need to cover. Different services tiers are commonly offered, with cheaper plans offering essential features, with more expensive plans offering additional features if required. Costs are usually based on a user basis rather than business turn-over, and though many phone service companies offer clear and flat-rate pricing, some providers will seek to provide a personalized quote instead which can often cost more while allowing for extra options not normally available. Here then are the best in phone services for business, with our main choices featured, with additional options to consider following. We've also highlighted the best business smartphonesWant your company or services to be added to this buyer’s guide? Please email your request to desire.athow@futurenet.com with the URL of the buying guide in the subject line. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/VUniLw4kJizbTBdvcbvkRD.jpg Image Credit: Mitel Mitel is one of the giants of Voice over IP (VoIP) telecoms, and its MiCloud offering aims to provide more than just a business phone system, but rather an integrated telecoms solution which can not only account for mobile working but aims to take advantage of the mobile opportunities. It offers a cloud-based telecoms system, which can not only provide, record, and store calls, but also emails, social messaging, as well as any other communications media. This big advantage of this service is that the initial hardware outlay is very much reduced, as you're more dependent on your internet or cellular connections than having a bank of phone lines each with their own business telephone system. It also means updates and upgrades are available as standard, so you shouldn't have to worry about buying telecoms systems that might seem out of date after a couple of years. MiCloud has all the features you'd expect from a standard business phone system, not least audio, video, and conferencing calling, as well as voicemails and call routing. There's also plenty of scope for setting up different features for different people in your teams, and collaboration and collation is at the heart of this system. Pricing is set by Mitel Premium Partners, who can provide a quote to fit according to business needs, but expect to pay around $5 to $15 per user according to service features required, on top of any hardware costs. You can sign up for MiCloud Office herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/GrmjJiDLvNFWCaWNpA7Crc.jpg Image Credit: Vonage Vonage is a well-known player in the residential VoIP market, and its Vonage Business offering focuses on commercial phone service; it has distinct plans that cater to enterprise, as well as the small business market. For the latter, Vonage Business endeavors to use your current internet to have a plug-and-play solution that does not require on-site installation, and offers a 14-day free trial. It is a more premium service with over 40 included phone features, and claims a business grade “99.999% uptime reliability.” The plans are priced depending on the number of users. For example, for 1 to 4 users, the bottom rung Mobile plan starts at $19.99 per user per month, which includes unlimited calling and SMS messages, and apps for both desktop and mobile use. Premium features include a call log, an administrative portal and a virtual receptionist. The next plan up is the Premium plan that costs $29.99 per user per month, and adds video conferencing and file sharing via Amazon Chime, as well as integration with popular Customer Relationship Managers such as Salesforce, Office 365 and Zoho. You can sign up for Vonage Business herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/PN6fdmsGL89kWFNcpZaMtj.jpg Image Credit: Ooma Ooma Office is the business version of the popular (almost) free residential service. Here, service plans require a one-time purchase of an Ooma Office base station for $199.99, and then unlimited calling to the US and Canada starts at $19.99 per user per month, which includes bonus features such as virtual fax, a local or toll-free phone number, and a conference extension. More users can be added for $19.99 each. Rounding out the service are over 35 features including 24/7 customer support, music on hold, a virtual receptionist, a mobile app, and a choice of modes for answering calls after hours. Ooma Office is mildly hampered with no lower tier plan for cash-strapped businesses, and there is no lower cost for economies of scale as additional users are added to the plan, as each is charged at full price. You can sign up for Ooma Office herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/47jZaDSnv897Wh8Et9Lz2o.jpg Image Credit: 8x8 The 8x8 Virtual Office Desktop is another cloud-driven VoIP plan that allows for more distributed working. It features a lot of the basic features you'd expect in a business phone system, such as support for click-to-call and mobile support, so users aren't tied to a single location. There are also options for web conferencing and video meetings. However, where the 8x8 Virtual Office Desktop really stands out is in the numerous features it boasts. There are multiple plans available, but even the most basic offers extension dialing, auto attendant, ring groups, call recording and internet faxing. There are also more advanced ones such as integration with Zendesk, Netsuite, Salesforce, and a number of other CRM platforms, as well as other online toolkits from the likes of Google and Microsoft. Of course, there is an initial hardware outlay, but a lot of options are offered in terms of desktop phones, cordless phones, and conference calling units from Polycom as standard. However, what you get depends on what you need, and there are three different service levels: Virtual Office, Virtual Office Pro, and Virtual Office 8x8. The latter two offer online meetings, and the highest-end boasts a virtual contact center. While pricing used to be advertised, these days you'll need to request a quote. You can sign up for 8x8 Virtual Office Desktop herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/34v5kXbC4Vkik92jtEV4ak.jpg Image Credit: Phone.com Phone.com endeavors to be an affordable business VoIP service, and with a pay per minute base plan that starts at $9.99 per month (when paid annually), it does best the competition at the low end in terms of cost. The trade-off is that the plan only offers a limited 300 voice minutes monthly with 5,000 SMS, which is only adequate for the most limited business use. On the bright side, even on this bare plan there are premium features included, such as voicemail to email, call blocking and call queuing. It is also indicated that the service is HIPAA compliant to meet the standards of privacy for healthcare-related businesses. Perhaps the more realistic options for most businesses are the Plus Plan for $14.99 monthly (when paid annually) which gives you a still paltry 500 minutes, and 10,000 text messages. Disappointingly, even the top Pro Plan (which is $29.99 monthly on an annual contract) also limits your minutes to 1,000 per month, and 20,000 SMS messages. You can sign up for Phone.com hereOther business phone services to considerWhether you're looking for a more traditional PBX phone system or a VoIP phone system, there are a lot of different providers out there. Which one is best for you will depend on your own needs and business size. While we've featured five providers above, there are a huge number of alternatives. Here we'll take a quicker look at another five. Avaya is another of the big names in unified communications, and along with Mitel has established itself as a leading specialist player for business telecommunications. Even so, it caters for the full range of business sizes, from small to enterprise, so don't be put off thinking big names means big costs. Cloud-based VoIP is already an established offering from Avaya, with many different options available to suit your business. RingCentral promotes itself as an all-in-one solution for all business sizes, with a unified communications strategy that means plenty of integration options, from Google to Microsoft, Oracle to Amazon, and Zendesk to Salesforce. Pricing begins at just $19.99 for up to 10 users, with call management and phone system administration, as well as phone rental options for conference phones and even desks. FluentStream is another cloud-based VoIP provider that offers a multi-faceted UCaaS platform and a good number of integrations. There's a decent list of features even for the basic plan ($20 per month), with increasing levels of service options up to contact center level. As expected, mobile use is treated as standard rather than an option, with apps available for Android and iOS. DialPad is a business VoIP platform that powers voice, video, messages, and meetings, and is especially geared towards mobile use. That offers a huge potential benefit by reducing initial outlay costs for hardware if employees can simply use their existing phones or tablet devices. Different sizes of business are catered for, integrations are standard, and pricing varies between $20-$35 per user according to the number of advanced features required. Skype is possibly an option easily overlooked, but had already established itself as a leading provider of VoIP even before it was purchased by Microsoft. Now it offers all the cloud and Office integrations you'd expect from the powerhouse parent company. So long as you're happy to keep your calls online and use mobile phones or tablets for calls and conferencing, this could be the cheapest option of all the ones listed here. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/K1GVtHOR-iA
  11. No matter which iPhone XS deal you go with, you're probably going to be paying a pretty big price for it - that's just the game Apple plays nowadays. So if you're going to put the financial investment into this premium device, you might as well go all out on data. Luckily, the kind folks over at Three have created a deal that offers up a massive 100GB of data, while somehow also being one of the lowest prices on the market - yep, we're trying to work that one out too! But no matter how they've achieved this brilliant pricing, we can simply say that we can't see anyone beating this offer anytime soon. At a monthly price of £52, this contract sounds expensive but knocks all other XS deals for six. With 100GB of data you have the capacity to send 40,000 emails, spend 5,000 hours online or even spend 230 hours on a video call - not that we would advise any of these insane feats. So if you're ready for big data and powerful Apple specs, you can see this deal in full below. Or if the price still feels a little bit too high, see our guide to the best mobile phone deals for everything else currently available. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/VgyagGS9HpAEPUQtUJBfrg.jpg This brilliant iPhone XS deal in full:So what's so good about the iPhone XS?There is a good reason for the iPhone XS's lofty price. Extremely powerful and full of features, it's clearly one of the best phones on the market right now, even with competition from the far newer Galaxy S10 deals and Huawei P30 Pro deals. And Apple's near infinity display (that notch still blocks a full screen) looks amazing. Although it hasn't been hugely improved on from the previous model it's about as high-end a phone as you can get right now and especially for this price. You'll be able to watch all the action from their next clash no matter where you are in the world by using our India vs Afghanistan live stream guide below. With solid performances across all three sides of their game, it all adds up to another daunting task for struggling tournament minnows Afghanistan, having notched up five defeats so far. On the wounded list for India are key players Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is set to be replaced by Mohammed Shami and Vijay Shankar who will face a late fitness test ahead of this match. Despite their run of stinging defeats, Afghanistan have undeniable talent throughout their side with the likes of Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, meaning India shouldn't expect a procession on theirway to cementing their place in the semi-finals. 13. After two years of secrecy, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are nearly ready to talk about their first Avengers game - or, as we know it, Marvel’s Avengers. At Square Enix's E3 2019 press event, we finally got our first look at the game in a story trailer that seems to riff on some of the biggest moments from the Avengers comics. You'll play as your favorite Avengers in an all-new story set in the Marvel universe featuring many Avengers throughout the game (with the exception of Hawkeye) as you save the day from an evil force. According to Crystal Dynamics, the game has 'an all-star cast' that includes Laura Bailey, Nolan North and Troy Baker, some of the most preeminent voice actors in the videogame industry. It was at this year's E3 that we also learned that the game will have a multiplayer component, though it wasn't shown off during the event. What we've heard from Crystal Dynamics in a closed-door briefing is that you'll assemble into teams of four online, customize your characters and fight online together through new scenarios. Crystal Dynamics says this content will be free and will come at a constant clip. Last, but not least, we got a confirmed release date: May 15, 2020. Here's everything we know about Square Enix’s big foray into the Marvel universe. Cut to the chaseWhat is it? Crystal Dynamic’s first Marvel game in a multi-game deal When’s it out? May 15, 2020What can I play it on? Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia. No word yet on Xbox Project ScarlettGameplay impressionsWhile no one was allowed to play the game at E3 2019, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics were allowing attendees to stop by and see an in-depth hands-off demo. The way the game works is that you'll control each Avenger individually and control switches automatically between segments – a flying sequence you might play as Iron Man while a battle scene might use Hulk, for example. Each character has their own set of abilities that mirror what we've seen from comics, movies and other games, and combat largely looks like Marvel's Spider-Man, full of fluid dodging, combo attacks and Quick-Time Events. It's a real cop-out to end the comparison at Marvel's Spider-Man, but that seems to be the look and feel Crystal Dynamics is going for – something that's easy to pick up and makes you feel powerful. The problem here is that, while all the characters have their own skills in combat (activated by the trigger buttons), there really wasn't a ton of variation in the actual gameplay. Most times, characters are shuffled into a battle arena, brawl for a few minutes with some fodder enemies, and then control shifts to the next Avenger in the sequence. It feels safe, but not all that exciting. What Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal (who's co-developing the game) did get right are the massive set-pieces that serve as the main stage for the action. In the demo we saw, The Avengers were fighting to save civilians on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco from terrorists led by (spoilers!) Taskmaster. The segment of gameplay we saw involved all five of the game's playable Avengers and culminated in a boss battle. The pacing leading up to the battle felt great, as did some of the Quick-Time Event segments that emulated the movies' big-budget action. Marvel’s Avengers trailers and screenshots Outside of the logo tweeted out by the game’s Twitter handle, there hasn’t been much in the way of official art. What we do have, however, is the game’s first teaser trailer that came out last year. The big unveiling for the game came at E3 2019, when Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics really let loose a lot of details and clips. We've embedded the Avengers E3 2019 trailer below: We've also got a number of screenshots from the trailer, embedded below: Marvel’s Avengers newsMarvel’s Avengers was finally revealed at the Square Enix E3 2019 press conference on Monday evening, giving us our first real look at the game since it was announced back in January 2017. Gameplay The most important thing we saw was the gameplay, which looked to be a third-person adventure in the same vein as Marvel's Spider-Man. We know we'll get the chance to play as almost all of the most famous Avengers at some point, with the exception of Hawkeye who sadly wasn't part of the unveiling. Marvel’s Avengers will feature “continuous single-player and co-operative gameplay”, and that players can “assemble in teams up to four players, master extraordinary abilities…and combine powers” – i.e. an online multiplayer component that Crystal Dynamics has yet to reveal, but we're hoping we'll hear more about that later. Focus on story Marvel’s Spider-Man blew us away last year with a story full of heart, characters we cared about, and some sensational performances to boot. Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics have a wonderful opportunity to deliver a narrative befitting the unbelievable roster of Marvel characters they have inherited. Thankfully, it looks like they're doing just that with Avengers. We know the game takes place after A-Day, the day the Avengers get honored for their service to the community. This day of jubilation is quickly ruined, however, and our heroes our ripped apart – which gives us real Disassembled vibes. Apparently the heroes come back together and will have to face a new threat that wasn't revealed in the trailer. Continuous content? Crystal Dynamics emphasized the idea of a “continuous” game in an “ever-expanding world”. All this content may come first to PS4 thanks to a deal between Square Enix and Sony, but all of it will be free on every platform. Recent games-as-a-service titles such as Destiny, Anthem, and The Division 2 aren’t exactly lauded for their top-tier narratives, so we’re hoping the reveal will confirm the experience won’t be diluted in favour of ever-lasting revenue. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xsxPaActvRP5JaFoouDMX6.jpg Screenshot taken from the E3 Colosseum website. Fresh, diverse range of playable heroes Decades of comics, and 22 movies over 11 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ensure fans are well versed on many classic Marvel heroes. While we love Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Thor, we think it’s time to introduce some fresh, lesser-known faces in Marvel’s Avengers. Unforunately, for whatever reason, Hawkeye wasn't part of the presentation and Hank Pym – a.k.a Ant Man – only got a supporting role. We’d love to see Khan take centre stage, perhaps even alongside other more recent Avengers, such as Iron Heart, Miles Morales, and Squirrel Girl. Why not? It's Crystal Dynamics' biggest game ever In a recent interview, Crystal Dynamics studio head Scott Amos told GamesIndustry.biz that this is the developer's biggest game to date, requiring five studios from around the globe to make: "We've had to change how we work, how we are organised as a team, the number of people we need to do this, the number of external partners... We've had to go hire experts like Shaun Escayg, who is our creative director. He told stories for Uncharted and The Last of Us [at Naughty Dog], we needed him to help tell this story. Dave Fifield was a game director who worked on Halo and Call of Duty, we needed him to help us with multiplayer," Amos said. The five studios working on the title are Crystal Dynamics at Redwood Shores, a new studio in Bellevue called Crystal North West, Crystal Dynamics' partners in the Netherlands, Nixxes, Eidos Montreal and even Square Enix Japan. Five teams to bring the five Avengers to life? Sounds about right. Here's how to watch the Square Enix E3 2019 live streamhttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/JT-kEegS41g
  14. The foldable Huawei Mate X is still coming and we know when it'll launch: September or sooner, according to a Huawei executive who spoke to TechRadar this week. "It's coming in September – at the latest," said Vincent Pang, President of Huawei's Western European Region, while visiting New York City. "Probably earlier, but definitely September is guaranteed." Where will the Huawei Mate X launch? "Any country that has 5G," Pang told us, making sure to remind us that Huawei's foldable phone is a 5G phone. This was likely stressed because the Samsung Galaxy Fold launched with a 4G LTE version (before ultimately being recalled), with a 5G version only spoken about once and never officially priced. Of course, Pang's "any country that has 5G" comment comes with a caveat. The Mate X isn't coming to the US, which is no surprise given the Huawei ban in the US. Surprise: it'll still run Android at launchWe got more hands-on time with the Huawei Mate X, going as far as playing a game on all of its screens: folded front, folded back, and unfolded in tablet mode. While PUBG looked great and felt roomy on the 8-inch screen (foldable phones will almost certainly dominate our best gaming phones list one day), it got us wondering: will the Mate X actually run Android and its apps when it launches? "Yes," Pang told us. "Because it has already been announced," suggesting that it may fall outside of Trump administration's ban on US companies (including software companies like Google) from dealing with Huawei. We've seen a lot of your comments predicting "We'll probably never see this phone" in the last two months given the ban. But Pang and Huawei officials we've spoken to seem awfully confident it'll launch, and launch with Android intact. Why 'by September?'Two extra bits of information about the "by September" launch time frame. First, we were told that 5G's slow rollout was the reason for the 'delay,' not US politics. Huawei is waiting for 5G to cement itself in China and other important areas. 5G just went live in the UK, which has always been a key territory for Huawei smartphones. Second, the word 'delay' is in dispute: it was always due to launch in the summer (which ends on September 21 in the Northern Hemisphere). A journalist inferred July at MWC 2019, according to Huawei, and the internet ran with that story. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xs2wi6iKD6KaNbYfeopk2R.jpg Image credit: TechRadar "It's basically the same hardware [as we showed at MWC]," Pang told us. He said Huawei has spent its time tweaking the software so that applications adapt to full screen mode, when the Mate X is unfolded in the tablet orientation. When asked what Huawei was doing to ensure the durability of the Mate X's plastic OLED screen and avoid mimicking Samsung's botched launch, Pang told us "That's a secret. But we have done a lot of tests, especially for that." Apple's iPhone 11 won't have 5G, but it'll capture just as much attentionhttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/Q-bW-QNeUTI
  15. First released in 1997, Final Fantasy 7 immediately cemented its place as one of the best JRPG titles around and introduced millions of gamers around the world to the genre. Now, due to the success of Final Fantasy 7 over 20 years ago (and the pleads from die hard fans), Square Enix is releasing a remake. Unfortunately, those high expectations have been both a blessing and a curse for the game as the path to release hasn’t been smooth. But now, four years after it was announced at E3 2015, we finally have a Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date: March 3, 2020. We've now seen the game a half-dozen times in trailers but, with news and rumors still churning around the great wide web, we’ve gathered up everything we know has been confirmed and everything fans suspect right here for your perusal. Cut to the chaseWhat is it? A re-interpretation of the popular JRPG Final Fantasy 7 When can I play it? March 3, 2020What can I play it on? It’s been confirmed the game will come to PS4 first, but it may appear later on PC and Xbox One. It could even be a cross-generation title.Final Fantasy 7 trailersThe first trailer for the game was released upon the remake's announcement at E3 2015. The trailer is largely cinematic and you can watch it for yourself below: A further trailer (this time featuring gameplay) was revealed at PSX in 2015: There's also the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer that was revealed during Sony's May 9 State of Play event. In it, we got a great look at what the action-heavy combat would look like (think Kingdom Hearts and you'll be on the right track) and one of the series most well-remembered protagonists, Aerith. Check it out below: The most important trailer we have is the one that was unveiled at a Final Fantasy VII concert held in Los Angeles, where the game's director, Tetsuya Nomura, unveiled Remake's official March 3, 2020 release date. It's only a minute long but it's important. Final Fantasy 7 release dateThe Final Fantasy 7 remake has had something of a troubled development, which makes it all the more surprising that we'll be seeing the game as early as we are. The date Square Enix has given us is March 3, 2020 – but it's unclear if that's for all of the episodes (remember, FF7R is an episodic game with more than two Blu-rays worth of content) or if that's just the release date of episode one. For some, that date is much sooner than expected considering the game's recent setback, but others will likely say it's arriving later than they wanted. For what it's worth, the game has been in the works since 2014 but there have been few significant official updates since the E3 2015 reveal: In that time, development of the game has moved from external developer CyberConnect2 to Square Enix’s in-house team. Overhauls like this can cause big delays to a game’s progress but according to Square Enix's Naoki Hamaguchi the decision was made out of a desire to maintain “control quality as well as keeping the schedule stable.” The good news is now that release date is set in stone. We also know is that the game will be available to PlayStation 4 players “first” as was promised at its E3 reveal. Saying “first” suggests this isn’t an outright exclusive and that the game will eventually come to Xbox One and PC. However, there was no indication as to how long the agreed exclusivity period would be. We're also expecting Final Fantasy 7 remake to be a cross-generation release, likely releasing on both PS5 and the next Xbox alongside current generation consoles. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/usaPofCs2E4PT6CgfdCKUQ.jpg Final Fantasy 7 news and rumorsE3 2019 news - Two Discs and new ATB system At E3 2019 we learned that there are more than two Blu-ray discs worth of content planned for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. We also got an in-depth look at the combat mechanics of the game – including the new ATB system. The main takeaway is that switching between characters in the real-time battle system can be done by pressing a single button, and you'll need your entire party to beat tougher bosses. So what's worth pointing out here is that the sedentary turn-based combat you may remember from the original has been replaced with a FF15-style approach that allows you to control the characters and move them around the battlefield. You'll still have some familiar options in combat - like Limit Breaks - but expect combat to be a bit more engaging this time around. During E3 2019 we also learned that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not only episodic, but actually requires two Blu-ray discs to hold all the content. The first disc, released on March 3, 2020, will actually only take place in Midgar - that futuristic city you've seen so much of in the trailers. Nomura admits an announcement was premature Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura has admitted that both Kingdom Hearts 3 and the Final Fantasy 7 remake were announced too early. "I am well aware of the fact that we announced it too early," Nomura told Italian gaming mag Multiplayer (translated by Kingdom Hearts Insider) . "But even in the industry, word was beginning to spread that we were working on the game, so we just decided not to keep it more secret and officially reveal it." http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/cyGAiJfF2GnZTKYKGeDXvA.jpg It’s a reconstruction, not a shot-for-shot remake The Final Fantasy 7 remake will follow the original game’s narrative and feature the iconic characters and locations that fans love. Considering it’s so beloved there’s a lot of pressure on Square Enix to not stray too far from the original source material but according to director Tetsuya Nomura it won’t be a completely direct recreation. In an interview with Wired, Nomura said “We're not intending for this to become a one-to-one remake, or just the original Final Fantasy VII with better graphics.” Nomura has said that he wants the remake to "apply to the current era" and "the current generation of players." He added the caveat that he doesn't "want to change it so much that it's unrecognizable" but it has to be offering something "fresh and new." To accommodate modern consoles and gamers, changes will naturally have to be made to the game both in terms of gameplay, mechanics and perhaps even to some elements of the story. For starters, early trailers show a game more akin to Final Fantasy XV mechanically, with fixed viewpoints and static backdrops swapped out for full-3D terrain, and a turn-based battle system removed in favour of a real-time action-orientated one. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/f5a54e5d2ccb35abf5ceddec4918d25f.jpg It’s episodic A significant way the remake is going to differ from the original game is that its story will be told episodically. This is a detail that was confirmed back in December 2015. The reasoning behind the decision, according to series producer Yoshinori Kitase is that “a proper HD remake” just wouldn’t fit into one instalment and maintain the “same feeling of density of the original.” “We've seen everyone's comments and reactions to the news that Final Fantasy 7 remake will be a multi-part series and many have speculated correctly as to the reason why we have made this decision,” he said, “If we were to try to fit everything from the original into one remake instalment, we would have to cut various parts and create a condensed version of Final Fantasy 7. We knew none of you would have wanted that. “I hope that by explaining a little more about our design decisions that you can appreciate the size of this project and what we have planned for this remake. Going beyond the scale and depth of the world, narrative and gameplay from the original to deliver something that feels familiar yet new. As I said before, we like delivering surprises.” Each episode will apparently be its “own unique experience” but as yet we don’t know how many episodes there will be or how they’ll be structured in relation to the original story. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/a4812381168606cfa3ad6cd7b8c3d0c0.jpg No more turn-based battles As mentioned above, a major element that’s changing from the original game is a move away from turn-based battles. In an interview with Famitsu, Nomura said that battles in the remake will be “action-based” rather than command-based. Nomura didn’t go into much more detail with regards to the game’s combat system but it’s widely expected that we’re going to see a formula more similar to Kingdom Hearts and FFXV. This would mean a more active and seamless style of battling involving party members whom the player will be able to switch between. Though the loss of turn-based combat will be mourned, a move towards a system like Kingdom Hearts will be more accessible to new players. A PS5 release? PS5 development kits are now said to be out in the wild, with Sony's first-party development teams working almost solely on titles for the as-yet-unannounced next-gen system. With the ambition on display here, could Square Enix be planning to shift Final Fantasy 7's remake to the next machine? For Sony, it'd be a system seller right out of the gates for the new console generation, and for the developers you'd imagine it'd offer more processing grunt and a little longer in terms of the development window. This is speculation at this point, but as the sun sets on the PS4, and titles like Final Fantasy 7's remake being no closer to even having a release date, it starts to seem like the looming next generation machines may be now what they're being aimed at. 16. Probably the most important aspect to running a business, and one of the most difficult, is keeping tabs on your income, outcome, and overall profit. This is especially when you're a start-up, and it's easy to become overwhelmed with all the administrative tasks you need to manage. However, similar applies to larger corporations as the volume of invoices can make it difficult to be entirely sure of the financial position of the business at any one time. This is way having a good accounting solution in place from the start is a seriously good idea, so that you can ensure you can keep on top of tracking money in and out of the business as and when you need to check. This is even more important as the business grows, because without a solution in place problems from lack of oversight can snowball along with stress levels. This is particularly the case for businesses who might want to simply leave everything to their accountants at the end of the year. While technically it means the accounts are done and taxes filed, without a proper idea of the day-to-day costs and earnings then the company is almost certainly losing money. Luckily, there are some very easy to use and well-developed software applications available, which can not only make it easy to manage your accounts, but also make everything clearer for your accountant at the end of the year, saving administration costs there. Some accounting packages are downloadable software, but these days it's more common for applications to run in the cloud, which means you can access them through a web browser or app on almost any device, including on your phone while on the go. Here then are the best in accounting software currently available. Also check out our feature on everything you need to know about small business accounting software and our best free accounting software packagesWant your company or services to be added to this buyer’s guide? The package has plenty of features – invoicing, expense tracking, time tracking, a host of business reports, even an option to take credit card payments (for a 2.9% plus 30 cents transaction fee) – but a straightforward interface aimed at non-accountants ensures you'll be up-and-running right away. Despite the simplicity, there's real depth here. You can bill in any currency, save time by setting up recurring invoices, allow customers to pay via credit card by checking a box, and even automatically bill their credit card to keep life simple for everyone. If you need more power, the system integrates with many other services, including PayPal, MailChimp, Basecamp, WordPress, Gusto, Zendesk and more. Management hassles are kept to a minimum. You're able to access and use the system from your desktop or its free iOS and Android apps, and because it's a cloud-based system there's no need to worry about backups. If this sounds appealing, you can try FreshBooks for 30 days without using a credit card. The Lite plan gives you invoices, estimates, time tracking, expenses, plus the ability to accept online credit card payments and import expenses from your bank account. It's $15 a month, but only covers you for five clients. The Plus plan supports a more reasonable 50 clients, adds the ability to send proposals, and saves you time by providing recurring invoices and the option to automatically send payment reminders. It's decent value at $25 a month. The $50 a month Premium plan lifts the client limit to 500, and further users can each be added for $10 per month. You can sign up for FreshBooks herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/BKsFNuNR5tQ4uKsTEyphx9.jpg Image Credit: Intuit Intuit QuickBooks may have been around since the days of DOS, but the latest version is right up-to-date – it's an easy-to-use cloud-based suite for just about all your business needs. Even the Essentials plan for $20 per month has plenty of features: invoicing, expense tracking, as well as time tracking, manage bills, and works for up to three users. There's also the option to add either self service payroll or full service payroll for an additional fee. Just like FreshBooks, there are a pile of apps to add more features: inventory management, Shopify integration, job scheduling, CRM and more. These can be expensive – many services cost more than QuickBooks itself – but there are exceptions. Add GoCardless (which is available for UK customers), for instance, and you're able to set up and take regular Direct Debit payments from customers for a mere 1% transaction fee capped at £2 – and there are no sneaky setup charges or other hidden extras. QuickBooks also offers mobile apps for iOS and Android. Overall we'd usually prefer FreshBooks, but there's plenty to like about QuickBooks, too, and with free trials available it's easy to try them both. You can sign up for Intuit QuickBooks herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/WEf7bddmt553TdvPQb9HLK.jpg Image Credit: Xero Xero might grab your attention with its low $9 per month Starter account but look closely and limitations soon become apparent – like being restricted to sending a maximum of five invoices, entering five bills, or reconciling only 20 bank transactions. Still, if you can live with those restrictions there are some pluses here. The service offers smart expense tracking and management, optionally on your mobile with Xero's excellent app for Android and iOS. There are dozens of configurable reports, simple budgeting, and no limits at all on additional users or the accountants you might want to access the data. If the invoice, bank or billing issues are a problem then the Xero Standard plan looks like a better deal. It's a lot more money at $30 per month, but you can issue as many invoices and enter as many bills as you like. One disappointment is the lack of support for multiple currencies, which only arrives if you sign up for Xero Premium for $60 a month. Xero offers plenty of functionality, including a handy "convert your QuickBooks files" service to help you get started, and it's certainly easy to use. But if you don't quite need all that power, there's better value to be had elsewhere. You can sign up for Xero herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/dXgsxNm9DLeNsfksB3Nksh.jpg Image Credit: Sage Sage Business Cloud Accounting makes a good first impression with its clear and gimmick-free pricing. The top Sage Accounting plan offers decent value at just $25 per month. There is also a 30-day free trial. For this, you get modules to manage quotes, invoices, handle and submit VAT online, smart bank feeds and reconciliation, cash flow forecasting, some detailed reports, multiple currency support, project tracking and more, all available from your desktop or via a mobile app. All this is well presented and generally easy-to-use. If you run into trouble, detailed web help and video tutorials are only a click or two away, with the offer of “free unlimited 24/7 telephone and email support” that should help make any newbie comfortable. Sage also has a more basic offering called Accounting Start. This doesn't include support for quotes, estimates or vendor bills, and has no cash flow forecasts, but it's only $10 per month and could be enough for small businesses. Kashoo avoids all that with a single $19.95 a month plan, or $199 annually, which delivers just about everything you're likely to need. Kashoo shines when it comes to multi-currency support, an important feature for today’s global economy. It also supports credit card transactions for all the major carriers – Amex, Visa and Mastercard – at a competitive 2.9% plus 0.30 cents transaction fee. You also benefit from unlimited invoices and connections to over 5,000 financial institutions to reconcile accounts online. We liked the uncluttered interface of this product, and the dashboard that provides a good summary of your current financial situation at a glance. Kashoo also offers customer support across the gamut of email, phone, live chat and social media – this company will even respond to an old-fashioned letter! One current shortcoming to note, however, is that there is only a mobile app for iOS, leaving Android users out in the cold for the time being. Kashoo offers a 14-day trial for those looking to test the service out. You can sign up for Kashoo herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/pxAYAyBi4i3E75pTefYGQH.jpg Image Credit: Zoho Also consider these accounting software platformsZoho Books is a simple solution for the self-employed and small businesses, who don't need all the bells and whistles, or cost, of full-on accounting software packages. It still comes packed with essential features, but keeps things simple and comes in at a lower price than other platforms. It's also scalable, so if you find you do need more, it's possible to purchase additional plans, features, and extensions to cover your requirements. Certify is a solution for tracking expenses rather than full accounts, but could be very useful to have in addition to some of the platforms above, not least because not all of them can track expenses with such dedication. This is especially the case for small businesses with a number of employees, where expenses might not always be reported or submitted properly, even though there is a potential tax deductible saving for the business for doing so. Financial Force is specifically designed to provide a cloud accounting and finance solution for Salesforce. This means full tracking of customer accounts across multiple workbooks, as well as recording assets, payables, collections, and more. This makes Financial Force less of a simple accounting platform and takes it into the realm of enterprise resource planning (ERP), and it is potentially very useful for those businesses already running Salesforce software. Holded is another software platform aimed more at small and medium businesses, offering an ERP that brings together sales, accounting, inventory, project and time management into a single dashboard. However, despite these diverse elements, the accounting feature is fully developed, and includes automated billing, along with instant reports on profit/loss, and the balance sheet. Tipalti is another big ERM platform and bills itself as the only end-to-end solution to automate the entire global payables operation in a unified cloud platform. At this point we're talking about a platform that goes well beyond accounting and into direct tax compliance and financial risk assessment, clearly intended for Fortune 500 companies that need full audit trails on a global scale, which is probably why Amazon is advertised as a customer. 17. The city of Southampton sees an awful lot of ships. There are cruise ships, cargo ships and, frequently, ships carrying lots of cars as they get imported and exported to and from the UK. As a result, the air quality in Southampton is suffering from the fumes that waft from the bustling dockside right across the city. We know this, as we’ve walked up and down the quayside enough times to spot the difference between fresh sea air and cruddy marine diesel fumes. Unfortunately though, it seems the humble car driver is being pursued about the air quality issue more than the ship owners, which seems kinda silly. More so when carmakers are doing their best to reduce emissions. In the case of Nissan, electric is increasingly being seen as the way forwards, both in terms of getting from A to B and also improving air quality. Nissan therefore chose an opportune time to hold its launch for the LEAF e+, with June 20 being Clean Air Day. Charging aheadOur first drive route in the LEAF e+ initially took us through the streets of the city and onwards towards the New Forest. Here there are plenty of trees, all doing their own bit for carbon offsetting. But, venturing out into the sticks can also be a trigger for the dreaded range anxiety that befalls anyone who drives an electric car without understanding how they tick. Or, in fact, checking where the next charging point is going to emerge. While range anxiety hasn't been fully extinguished, the beefier battery in the LEAF e+ delivers a warm fuzzy feeling if you normally sweat bullets at the thought of finding one of those charging points. This model comes with a larger 62kWh battery, which means more range at 239 miles on one charge compared to the 168-mile capacity of the other model. But, the tradeoff is more weight to go with it. Usefully though that added weight makes it hug the road nicely. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/9Y4P47Q6QLrWpq4BJicwhC.jpg Image credit: Nissan Compared to the standard incarnation with its 40kWh power supply the new model boasts a 160kW/217 horsepower motor. While the extra bulk does slow it down a bit the LEAF e+ is still pretty potent when you need to overtake. And, once you’ve got it up to cruising speed the car is as good, if not better than its lower-powered offering. The car is also 5mm higher due to the intricacies of having a beefier battery, but it doesn’t roll much as a result. Cosmetically the LEAF e+ is quite hard to differentiate from the other model, though there are one or two cosmetic flourishes, most notably on the front bumper. Inside, our model had everything you want from a saloon, with generous levels of features and functions thanks to its top-of-the range Tekna specification. We also made good use of the Nissan ProPilot suite of driver assist goodies. The sat nav and infotainment in this model are rock-solid too, as is the very cool seven speaker Bose audio output. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/LrmVaBo4yezXW35MvKRR8G.jpg Image credit: Nissan Overall, the LEAF e+ cabin area is a nice place to be, with those seats being really comfortable. And, now that you can go on longer runs in it they’ll be getting put to good use. This is also a surprisingly roomy car, with a decent amount of space in the rear along with a very impressive 405-litre boot that’s good for most everyday things and quite a bit more besides. Rest and rechargeHalfway around our test drive, which was made all the more entertaining thanks to the LEAF e+’s addictive e-pedal, we stopped off further down the coast and were greeted by another first for Nissan. There, parked by the sea front was an all-electric ice cream van. We’ve all seen and indeed experienced traditional ice cream vans and had to stand next to their often horribly smoky and noisy diesel engines idling over all day while they serve up Whippy ices and the odd 99. But, this van, an e-NV200, Nissan’s 100% electric LCV (light commercial vehicle) is a very different kettle of fish. It’s currently a one-off for ice cream makers Mackie’s of Scotland, based in Aberdeenshire. The company has a commitment to producing its wares as greenly as possible so the van, complete with solar panels and a 40kWh power plant, seems like an obvious addition. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/jdkvUsQgefFh7Kj6gSVQXn.jpg Image credit: Nissan There were soft-serve offerings and scoops of raspberry ripple on offer, plus cold drinks, all from this self-sufficient vehicle. The van also contained Nissan’s Energy ROAM, which is a portable power pack that features recovered cells from first-generation Nissan electric vehicles. Ice-cream aficionados can even track down the van, not from an old-school audible chime, but from tweets of its location. Shades of greenFull of ice cream we hit the road again, back towards Southampton. Like any car, Nissan’s LEAF e+ does need to be driven sensibly if you want to squeeze the best from that improved battery. We kept the car on Eco mode and even managed to push some life back into the power plant going down steep hills thanks to the way the e-Pedal lets you do your own bit of energy regeneration. Conversely, drive with a lead foot and you’ll soon see the range declining, especially with a car full of passengers. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/VWW3rgfGNFuzgnfzgdNJ8G.jpg Image credit: Nissan Later in the day Nissan even went the extra mile and let us do a little bit of our own carbon offsetting by planting a tree per driver at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens near Romsey. And, they threw in a bunch of Non Plastic Beach goodies in our hotel rooms, replacing the less environmentally friendly stuff that normally sits in the bathrooms of hotels around the globe. Granted, there is still much work to be done if we’re actually going to save the planet, but it’s a start. 18. 'Should you buy a TCL TV?' It’s a question that might be hard to answer when you’re in the midst of shopping for your next television. With so many TVs around these days, making head or tail of all the names on the market can be nigh impossible. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to the Chinese electronics brand, so if a TCL television comes your way, you know whether it’s the right one for you. TCL hasn’t been around for quite as long as some of the players in the TV market, but in recent years has grown to one of the larger TV manufacturers in the world. We’ve seen competing stats putting TCL at either second or third place, based on the number of TVs shipped globally – neck and neck with LG, but behind market-leader Samsung – but suffice to say it’s definitely in the big leagues. TCL 2019 TV: all the TCL sets coming this yearWhile its biggest audience is unsurprisingly in its homeland of China, TCL now ships televisions all over the world, with a strong presence in the US, Europe, Australia, and SE Asia. (Those of you in the UK may be less familiar with the name, given TCL only started selling TVs on UK shores last year.) So how do TCL’s TVs differ from the competition, and are they worth your money? Should I buy a TCL TV?http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/svYmGYBk3muNCNWdagVTBj.jpg Image Credit: TCL TCL’s main advantage in the TV market is its aggressive pricing. It manufactures televisions at a large scale and has passed on a lot of those savings to consumers in a bid to win over consumers worldwide. If you’re looking for a cheap television that offers a lot for the price, TCL will often be a good bet – often for very large sized televisions too. If the thought of forking out for a 55 inch or 65 inch television has got you sweating, know that TCL won’t charge you through the nose for it – and the TV-maker offers everything from 32 inch displays to massive 75 inch screens. There is always a cost vs performance question to consider, as cheaper televisions almost inevitably mean a drop in quality from their more premium counterparts. Picture processing is often the first thing to suffer, with basic processors unable to really cope with the demands of high-resolution television. TCL’s televisions tend to go quite heavy on picture processing, which some would say provides a dynamic picture, but can lead to off-color pictures and middling contrast. 4K resolution is increasingly the norm for smart TVs these days, which is great for those wanting to watch TV and films in crisp Ultra HD detail. You’ll often get high dynamic range (HDR) bundled in too, though a TV under $500 / £500 / AU$700 won’t usually have the specs to really draw out HDR’s expanded color gamut – so be aware that a cheap 4K HDR set from TCL won’t provide the same picture as a more high-end television. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/aFYYdmQqFMkzVq2FZfAypE.jpg TCL 6-Series is one of our favorite sub-$1,000 televisions (Image Credit: TCL) TCL has used a number of operating systems for its TVs over the years, so it’s worth making sure you’re getting a decent smart TV platform with your television. Many of its mid-range US sets use the Roku TV smart platform, and makes for a breezy, thought-out interface with plenty of your favorite streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. Other TCL sets, like the DP648 in the UK, use a much more basic Linux OS. Most TCL TVs coming out this year is going to have the same Android OS in an attempt to standardise across the board, and is a good all-rounder smart platform also used by Sony and Hisense. Hisense TV 2019: every Hisense TV you need to know about this yearTCL has some more experimental TV designs now and then, though largely closer to its home market in China. But US viewers after something fancy may want to keep an eye out for the TCL 8-Series 8K QLED, which marks the start of TCL’s foray into 8K’s ultra-high resolutions. It’s also worth noting that TCL doesn’t support HDR10+, sticking instead to the leading Dolby Vision format for its fancier TVs, though this will only really make a difference if you plan on watching a lot of premium HDR formats. Overall, your choice of a TCL TV may come down to where you live. In the US there are plenty of TVs we’ve reviewed well, and TCL has built up an understanding of the market and what US viewers want from their televisions. In the UK you have fewer options, which aren’t quite as competitively priced. If you do opt for a TCL television, though, you can be sure you’re getting a good value TV. TCL TV reviewsSo that's the background on TCL, but what did we actually think of the televisions we tested out? We've reviewed TCL televisions at a range of prices, sizes, and specifications – and you check out the most important ones below. 23. Porsche showed off their latest generation 911 Carrera range at a drive event in Germany. These next-gen models draw heavy inspiration from classic 911s of past bringing the same quintessential 911 shape, cylinder count and layout. 24. It's official: Amazon Prime Video is going from strength to strength. The streaming platform has been adding exclusive TV shows and fresh news episodes to its already impressive catalogue of content every week. UPDATE: Our two highly-recommended TV shows this month are both very different. Firstly up is Good Omens, the long-awaited TV adaptation of the fantastical book from the magical minds of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet with a truly stellar cast. The second is Too Old to Die Young, from the fantastic Nicolas Winding Refn, although this violent revenge tale may be a little too much for a lazy Sunday afternoon TV binge. Although that means you've always got plenty of new series and old favourites to binge on, it also means it can be tricky to choose which one to watch next. But this list is here to help make that choice a little bit easier. For those not in the know, Amazon Prime Video is part of the Amazon Prime membership, which means a lot more than just super fast deliveries these days. For starters, there’s Prime Music, Audible freebies, the Kindle Lending Library, lots of photos storage and the chance to stream great movies and TV shows through Prime Video, which is Amazon’s answer to an on-demand streaming service. Although Amazon has a huge back catalogue on its Prime Video service, there are lots of mediocre TV options too, which might fool you into thinking they’d be worthy of a watch, as well as lots of truly terrible ones, which we'd prefer you didn't waste your time on at all. We've collected together a huge selection of TV shows for you to choose from, including shiny new series through to Amazon's own original shows. In our guide you'll discover our pick of the best Amazon Prime TV shows that are currently on offer. We have options for fans of thrillers, jaw-dropping sci-fi, comedy lovers and those who enjoy nothing more than a fantasy police drama. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/iMEzufpr7eXQxLeBgctTRB.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Get your free 30-day Amazon Prime trialAmazon has been developing and creating titles itself over the past few years, which are called Amazon Originals or Amazon Original Series. These homegrown TV shows are arguably some of the best that the Amazon Prime Video service has to offer (think The Tick and Transparent), which you can watch instantly when you have Amazon Prime access. There are many more shows you can watch through Amazon too of course, but some of these have to be purchased in order for you to start streaming. We'll be keeping this list constantly updated – if any paid shows become free that we feel need to be included, they'll be added too. Scroll through to see our picks that we've divided up into the following categories: drama, comedy and thriller. If you can only watch one...http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/gqhNeBhJpxzFzbNuxnwEs3.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Good OmensBefore he passed away in 2015, Terry Pratchett allegedly made Neil Gaiman promise he'd adapt Good Omens into a TV series, which is what Gaiman has been working on for the past four years. The result is an addictive, bonkers yet heart-warming tale about good and evil, friendship, demons, angels and a future-gazing witch. It's brilliantly British, has one of the most stellar casts imaginable and can be binged in one weekend - or one sitting if you can't face waiting a whole night for the final few episodes. It brings a few fresh characters and twists to the story, but is also faithful enough to the book to give those who have been fans for nearly thirty years a real treat. A. Corey, the pen name of authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. It's set in a future where humans have colonised most of the solar system, but there are big divisions between the occupants of Earth, Mars and 'Belters', who reside on space stations beyond the asteroid belt. It's full of politics, heart-wrenching emotional stories and some of the most breath-taking scenes of outer space we've ever seen. If you're a fan of sci-fi, you'll love this. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/tbeLZHuB9HvqtPaEX9nYNi.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Alias US action series Alias ran for five seasons between 2001 and 2006 and fans will be happy to hear every single episode is available to stream on Amazon Prime Instant Video right this instant! Created by J. J. Abrams, the TV show stars Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow, a double agent who is working for the CIA, but also posing as an operative for an organisation called SD-6, which is a big criminal and espionage network. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 5 Update: Alias is still available via Amazon Prime Video, but it's no longer free. You'll have to pay £2.49 per episode, or buy a whole season for £13.99. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/58oBFXn9Rte8tWrYdnHq6X.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan The long-awaited latest re-imagining of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is now available on Amazon Prime, with the fantastic John Krasinski (best known for his role in the US version of The Office) playing CIA analyst Ryan. The show has received mostly positive reviews and it's definitely worth giving the first few episodes a watch, particularly if you're a fan of political dramas, the Jack Ryan stories or Krasinski. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/JhXywwy3TXZQwb6vauSoh7.jpeg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Ray Donovan Set in LA, Ray Donovan is a drama about a guy called, you guessed it, Ray Donovan, who is a fixer for a top law firm in the city. That means he gets caught up in all kinds of drama, like threats, bribes and every other kind of shady activity you can imagine. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 6 Update: Ray Donovan is still available via Amazon Prime Video, but it's no longer free. You'll have to pay £2.49 per episode, or buy a whole season for £13.99. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/c46oaH2xofQAYzBCKwjvK5.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video New Season Added: American Gods Based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and brought to the screen by the ever-excellent Bryan Fuller, American Gods is an existential look at what would happen if gods were to walk the earth. Starring Ricky Whittle (who has made the transition from Hollyoaks to Hollywood with ease) and Ian McShane, the show is both bizarre and brazen, cultish and controversial. It may take a while to figure out just what the hell is going on, but this is one smart, celestial slice of entertainment that's already got us hooked. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ybvqkmBevWQvMBg3ASafd9.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Animal Kingdom Looking for a new crime drama to get stuck into? Animal Kingdom could be what you're looking for. The show follows teenager J Cody who moves in with extended relatives in Southern California after the death of his mother. Far from being boring, Cody finds his relatives live a wild life of excess and it's all funded by crime. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7757514cee725f7d4dcbacf203634962.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Black Sails Johnny Depp may have spent the latter half of his career convincing the world that pirates all look, smell and talk like a Rolling Stone but we prefer Black Sails' interpretation. Exclusive to Amazon Prime, Black Sails treats the pirate legend with a touch more reality and this is pretty much all down to Shakespearean thesp Toby Stephens. Number of seasons on Amazon Prime: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/1368acd34d0328ea450c58dbd1b3f7d4.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video New Season Added: Bosch With 20-something novels to mine for source material, Bosch is a character that was always destined for the small screen. Created by Michael Connelly but brilliantly brought to life by actor Titus Welliver, the series follows the exploits of LA Homicide detective Harry Bosch and features enough grit to pave the longest of driveways. This is no surprise - the series has been created by Eric Overmyer, who was part of the alumni that created The Wire. Bosch is another show that has been put together by Amazon Studios - proving that streaming services are becoming just as powerful as the HBOs of the world when it comes to producing compelling drama. Bosch Season 5 has now landed on Amazon Prime, continuing the saga of Harry Bosch and it comes with a nice uplift in quality too, building season upon season to become one of our favourite shows on Prime at the moment. Number of seasons on Amazon Prime: 5 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/bwAoVCW5avTgjX3uuJYyz8.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Goliath Billy Bob Thornton stars as a washed-up lawyer looking for a big break who stumbles on to a big case that may well give him the solace he needs. Made by David E Kelly who loves a bit of courtroom drama, having already created Boston Legal, The Practice and Ally McBeal, the show works well as a standalone series but there's talk that it may get a second season. Goliath is part of Amazon's Original series of TV shows. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/BfB8yhfWru3EmcJtC6sgPF.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Good Fight If you were a fan of US legal and political drama The Good Wife, then you're going to love The Good Fight. It's set one year after the events of the final episode of the The Good Wife and this time shifts the focus of the story to Diane Lockhart. Season one has been a success and now the second season is available to stream via Amazon, but unfortunately it's not free. But while you either wait for it to become free (it may take a while) or wait to decide whether it's worth it, catch up on the first season now to help you make your mind up. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 (The 3rd season is available, but you'll have to pay for it.) http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/fccb3bad7ed763c9806112ef985cf324.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Hand of God Last seen in Sons of Anarchy, Ron Perlman has moved from the mad world of biker gangs into the stranger world of law. Perlman plays a vice-riddled barrister who, after suffering a breakdown, starts to believe he is a messenger from god. The full first season for Hand of God arrived on Amazon Prime, after a successful pilot. A second season is also available, which will sadly be the last as Amazon has decided to not renew the show. This is a shame as it may not be a light-hearted ride - but it is one drama that takes dark turn after dark turn and is all the better for it. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/wFXyyYYJCz33y5Piv4zoU.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Hell on Wheels Hell on Wheels sounds like it should be a Sons of Anarchy rival, about motorcycle gangs or the like. But it’s actually centred on the construction of the US’s First Transcontinental Railroad. The first season begins soon after the assassination of President Lincoln and from there the show plays out like a western, showing myriad sides of the railway being built - from slaves to their owners, to the money me behind the scheme. It’s a show that’s been a massive hit for AMC - falling just behind The Walking Dead in their ratings for original shows. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 5 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/pnPw8jtVNgUfsDDxgF8K6X.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Last Tycoon F Scott Fitzgerald may be known for The Great Gatsby and Tender Is The Night but The Last Tycoon - his last and unfinished novel - is perhaps his most ambitious piece of work. It peels away the glitz and glamour of Hollywood in the '30s to show a time when backstabbing was the norm, fascism was on the rise and everyone had an unbelievable amount of money. Kelsey Grammer is superb as movie mogul Pat Brady, while Matt Bomer is also great as Monroe Stahr, the up and coming film exec who wants to make it big. The Last Tycoon is occasionally flawed but it's a sumptuous watch. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xpBhZCJdFVGVPRPToPrPGc.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Looming Tower The 8th episode of The Looming Tower are now available on Amazon Prime Video, but despite the fact there still aren't many compared to most TV shows, it hasn't stopped this tale of threat and politics from proving to be a hit. Based on the book by the same name, it's about the unease around Al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden in the 1990s, as well as the rivalry between the CIA and FBI. You're not alone – millions of people tuned in to Downton Abbey during its TV run, and it's now available to stream in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video. Following the trials and tribulations of the Crawley family on the titular Downton Abbey estate, it's a kitchen sink drama of sorts – except all the cutlery is made of silver, and it's an army of servants doing the washing up. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 7 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3b94d6f64665714823bd3a8563501c45.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Masters Of Sex Yes, Masters Of Sex could have ended up being a Mad Men rip-off when it first arrived in 2013 but thanks to the brilliance of Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan the show soon elevated above being a copycat. Sheen is Dr William Masters, a fertility expert who turns his hand to researching the world of sex. Turns out researching sex means having a lot of it, which would all be rather gratuitous if it wasn't wrapped in some of the most intelligent script work around. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/p6QWrCvmZwdPdw4hy7fkE.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Outlander Game of Thrones with kilts and time travel, Outlander was a solid show in its first season - by the second it was a great one. Based on the eight-book series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander is about Claire Randall, a nurse who is transported from 1945 to 1743, where she meets a Scottish outlaw and a simmering romance ensues. Given it’s shot in the Scottish highlands, the show looks fantastic, is well acted and should be your next binge watch. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yyb8zNUnUYTEduG3MxJMEB.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Path Aaron Paul is back on TV, thanks to The Path. And while his role might not be as enticing as Jesse in Breaking Bad, The Path is decent enough. Revolving around the Meyerist movement, and its ‘not a cult / definitely a cult' cult, the show is a gripping and beautifully shot look at what happens when people truly believe. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/CEgZKqLLpomJX6P23SyBmc.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Rogue Now in its fourth season, Rogue has matured into a great crime drama. While it may not be the Sopranos in its scope, it has a realness to it that makes the violence that's shown on the screen hit home hard. Thandie Newton stars a Grace Travis, an undercover detective who is trying to balance being a wife and mother with the illicit affair of a crime boss. Gritty stuff. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/R8koHHSZGQeSruvCehp9Mo.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video New Season Added: Sneaky Pete Sneaky Pete's plot maybe a little cliche - a con man assumes the identity of someone else to try and make a new break in the world - but Giovanni Ribisi is superb as Marius, the titular character and there's plenty of intrigue to keep you glued to this new Amazon Original. Interestingly, the show is co-created by Bryan Cranston which makes him the streaming king, given he's done so well with Breaking Bad on Netflix. Don't expect Sneaky Pete to be as intense as Breaking Bad - it's a crime caper, yes, but it doesn't take itself too seriously. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hyc7qfCNf3eB4Jc6MLrF5k.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Startup Not content with becoming a Hobbit, starring in the Marvel universe or playing Dr Watson, Martin Freeman goes back to his TV roots for Startup - a great look at what happens when a bunch of tech entrepreneurs create something that is much bigger than they ever thought it would be. It may occasionally be too gritty for its own good, but it's great to see Freeman hamming it up as the big bad. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/064b3831624762dbdcbff970dd0b927b.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video UnREAL UnREAL focuses on the fictional goings-on behind the scenes of a fictional reality show. It's a show that holds a broken mirror up to the vacuous and plentiful reality shows that litter TV channels at the moment and actually goes into some rather dark territory. Yes, it's melodramatic and will wave numerous moral flags at you while you are watching it, but it's nonetheless engrossing television. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/4333fc408283a71d96cc0f896168c9cc.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Transparent Anything Netflix can do, Amazon Prime can do better it seems, especially when it comes to winning a Golden Globe. Netflix may have made history by being the first streaming service to win a Golden Globe, courtesy of the acting talents of Kevin Spacey in House of Cards, but Amazon went and topped this by winning the Best TV Show prize in 2014 for Transparent. It was much deserved. Transparent is everything you want in a TV show. It's heartwarming, funny and packs a real punch about a subject that doesn't get enough attention: transgenderism. Jeffrey Tambor's Maura Pfefferman is a television character we hope will be around for a long time. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 4 Comedyhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zPie2ehWTNZdGTdPYjUkef.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Fresh Off the Boat The critically acclaimed series based on the memoirs of chef and food personality Eddie Huang is back for a fourth series. The show follows the hip-hop obsessed Eddie and his family as they reconcile their Taiwanese roots with their new life in Florida, where they have moved to open a cowboy-themed restaurant. Funny and heartwarming, Fresh Off the Boat is not only totally binge-able, but it also represents an important milestone in the portrayal of Asian-American families on the small screen. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/kGznvBPDrFN5FaisXn5QcV.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Black-ish Black-ish is brilliant. Not brilliant-ish, but brilliant. It's made by two Nightly Show writers and is about adman Andre, who thinks his kids aren't, er, black enough because they've lived in the very white suburbs all their life. This means a (car)crash course in black culture ensues. Two seasons of the show are on Amazon Prime and it's well worth a watch, filled with the warm humour ABC has brought to the world with the likes of Modern Family and The Goldbergs. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/YCjqeKA37w58qW2nDsbaAP.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Casual The final eight episode season of Casual is now available on Amazon Prime. It's about a newly divorced single mother who lives with her brother and daughter. The comedy drama is about dating, romance, families and all kinds of other modern dramas with a funny, and sometimes dark, twist. It's received a fair bit of critical acclaim over the years, but won't be returning for a fifth season. So enjoy it while you can! Seasons on Amazon Prime: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/0d11ba55dd2f63464835e07d0a65f204.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Catastrophe From the minds of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney comes one of the funniest, most well-written sitcom in years. The plot is slight: a one-night stand turns into a relationship once Sharon announces she is pregnant. But the series contains some of the most cut-to-the-bone humour seen on TV. Combine this with a nice slab of pathos - nestled among many a sex joke - and what you have is a modern classic. The third series, which recently aired on Channel 4, is now available on Amazon Prime Video - it features the last ever performance from the imitable Carrie Fisher. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/GYAtuADTXqnY9uTsEWcWLk.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Comrade Detective Comrade Detective is a weird gem on Amazon. Starring Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the show is a parody of gritty American buddy cop shows and Communist Propaganda from the Cold War. It's an unusual combination, but it works. Each episode is presented as though it's a remastered real episode of a lost Romanian Communist Propaganda series from the 80s which was used to entertain and promote Communist ideals. The entire show was filmed in Romania with Romanian actors and then dubbed over by Tatum and Gordon-Levitt. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/pEWuUTjUnNdmY5vPQsp4fR.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video New Season Added: The Tick We like a dark twist on the superhero genre as much as the next person, and The Tick delivers it: it's about an accountant with mental health issues, who may or may not be a superhero - it could all be in his head. Peter Serafinowicz is the eponymous Tick, and despite that rather sombre-sounding plot outline, this is a black and surreal comedy worth seeking out. Unfortunately, Season 2 of The Tick will be its last - at least on Amazon Prime. However, we're confident that this darkly funny and smart take on the superhero genre will find a home somewhere else. Its cast, creators and huge fanbase are certainly behind it with the #SaveTheTick push on Twitter. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5sFuuSNzfZeZDFVm9J3Sch.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Grand Tour Clarkson, Hammond and the other one are back for Grand Tour: Season 2. Well, we kind of knew that they would be as they all have massive contracts that mean we will be seeing quite a few seasons of the Definitely Not Top Gear But Quite A Bit Like Top Gear show. This season sees Clarkson drive a fast car, Hammond drive a faster car and nearly die, and the other one drive a fast car considerably slower than the rest. If you enjoy watching middle aged men burn rubber in the middle of the desert, like a scene out of Mad Max: Fury Road, then this is for you. And if we haven't quite convinced you yet - Gizmodo offered up this quote about the show: "Some men doing stuff for no clearly defined reason." Lovely stuff. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 (new episodes weekly) http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/dZtbr4ZNmjL3VctMs6HoL5.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video I Love Dick Graduating from Amazon Originals pilot to fully fledged TV show, I Love Dick is a great subversive watch. The show stars Kevin Bacon and is based on the celebrated book that looks at a married couple who are having marriage issues and their relationship with college professor, Dick. Bacon is on top form as the charismatic Dick and the show's multiple POV storytelling (Rashomon style) works well. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video TV: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/wZkAStnQdrAUQdLs6SyPR.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video New Season Added: The Last Man On Earth Not many people can find the funny in the post-apocalypse, but Will Forte has managed it with The Last Man On Earth. He writes and stars in this comedy where he is the only survivor on earth after a virus kills everyone else. The cast is brilliant, with the likes of January Jones and Kristen Wiig join him on his adventures and there’s a smattering of decent cameos too - including Will Ferrell and Jon Hamm in season 3. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/pxuGBSgfRWyHfGcB9JTRM.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The League Created by Jeff and Jackie Schaffer and starring Mark Duplass, The League is very much a US focused comedy - based around a group of friends in an American Fantasy Football league - but don’t let that put you off as it’s nearly always hilarious. The lengths the group go to to win The Shiva - the league trophy - is great to watch, as is there balancing of trying to win week in week out with their normal lives. All seven seasons of the show are available on Prime Video. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 7 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Ky3FtRE6pwmhu9EHWPLQCg.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel A new series from Gilmore Girls creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel tells the story of 1950s Jewish housewife Miriam Maisel. After her husband confesses he's been having an affair, Midge drunkenly gets on stage at a comedy club and discovers that she's utterly hilarious. In a time when women aren't encouraged to be publicly funny, Midge pursues her new-found comedic talent in the male-dominated stand up comedy world. Seasons to watch on Amazon Prime: 2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/141049a921410c0c0a8942a39ea80157.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Mad Dogs The UK version of Mad Dogs was a breath of fresh air when it first aired. Well, the first season was then it all went a little too strange. This remake - green-lit from Amazon's burgeoning Originals series - takes the best from the UK version and mixes it with a plot that's a little easier to follow and humour that's more laugh out loud than pitch black. The premise is the same: a bunch of mates go and visit one friend at his luxury villa to celebrate his early retirement, only for murder, mayhem and mind-boggling plot developments to ensue. A touch of genius is the recasting of Ben Chaplin. While he played the rich, retiring Alvo in the UK version here he gets to try his luck in a bigger and better role. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/66413944d5db85b72bc2ff5df40c88d4.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Mozart in the Jungle Now into its fourth series, Mozart in the Jungle was this surprise winner at the 2015 Golden Globes, where it won Best Comedy Series. The show is a comedy set in the strange world of classical music. Gael García Bernal plays young conductor Rodrigo who replaces a retiring conductor played by Malcolm McDowell. Based loosely on a true story and created by the likes of Jason Schwartzman and Roman Coppola, it's well worth a watch. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/f3b17f82033a467f9f6a087fa73656bd.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Parks and Recreation Parks and Rec is a joy of a show. Originally seen as a quasi spin-off of the Office - using the same documentary style camerawork, awkward pauses, asides to camera - it soon grew from an amusing first season, about the goings on in the parks department of Pawnee, to a comedy phenomenon that spanned a fantastic seven seasons. It's not just the script that makes it great, it's also the characters - headed up by the ever-brilliant Amy Poehler. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 7 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/GWuPhFChFQ5F6r2tkpS2K.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Seinfeld Seinfeld is comedy gold. It’s the sitcom that was self reflexive and knowing. It was about Jerry Seinfeld who was played by Jerry Seinfeld but was playing a version of himself. It’s a similar trick Larry David used when spinning off his character for the show Curb Your Enthusiasm. He even took it a step further to make a whole season of Curb dedicated to bringing back Seinfeld. Over nine seasons this show, which is essentially about nothing, will captivate you, make you laugh and think. It’s fantastic. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 9 Thrillershttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/LzLbKL7W4GgtMpbswEYRz9.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Too Old To Die Young From the dark and violent mind of Nicolas Winding Refn comes Too Old To Die Young, a revenge tale that casts Miles Teller in the lead role. According to Refn, it's technically a movie in 12 parts, which means once you start watching it might be difficult to pull yourself away. Known best for ultraviolent movies like Only God Forgives and Drive, Refn's first foray into TV is just as brutal – don't say we didn't warn you. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/101672bb586c1b172f1576c4ccd27d40.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video New Season Added: The Americans The Americans was cruelly mishandled when it originally came to UK TV, so we are glad it has finally found a decent place to reside. The show is a cracking crime period thriller that follows the exploits of a couple of KGB agents posing as US citizens around the time Ronald Reagan became US president. It may occasionally flit between the ridiculous and the sublime but you would expect nothing more from a show that's main conceit comprises characters duelling with duality. The '80s setting is fantastic, too, though there aren't enough shell suits for our liking. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 6 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7zXG83cmFFp7dfNqDCjKi9.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Crossing This sci-fi thriller has a really interesting premise. A group of refugees trying to escape a war arrive in an American town looking for somewhere to live. The sci-fi twist? They seem to be from 180 years in the future. Gasp! The story centres around a local sheriff, a federal agent and a mum looking for her missing daughter. It's full of conspiracy, mystery and there might be a superpower or two thrown in for good measure. But shh, we don't want to spoil anything. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zfMXSbjKcpp42YmAU5ZC9M.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Exorcist There has been an influx of TV adaptations of movies recently, with many of them actually hitting the mark. The ones that succeed the most are those that take the theme/feeling of the films they are adapting and go in their own direction - Fargo is a perfect example of this. Another example is The Exorcist. Although it takes a couple of episodes to get going, the TV series is a decent spin-off of the movie, with just a slither of a thread attaching the two. Don't expect full-on scares, as this is definitely a slow burner. But when the exorcisms come (and there are a few) they will send a chill down your spine. The show is now into its second season, too, so you can watch the first season with the knowledge that the tale of terror is set to continue. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/251ddb52766d7d6eeff0d911444f9656.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Fall Before he was whipping up a storm as Mr Grey, Jamie Dornan played an effortlessly charming and equally chilling serial killer in The Fall, a fantastic Irish drama that deserves all the acclaim it gets. Dornan is Paul Spector, a care worker who has a sideline in killing woman. To help track him down, hard-nosed detective Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) heads to Belfast to try and capture the murderer. The Fall is a perfect blend of intelligent scripting, nuanced acting and a fantastic premise. Knowing who the killer is from scene one amps up, rather than releases, the show's tension. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3bc20e3611d018635f64ba25b100459c.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Fear The Walking Dead Fear The Walking Dead is a show that tries its hardest to be more than a spin-off. Set in Los Angeles, the show follows high school guidance counselor Madison Clark (a brilliant Kim Dickens fresh from Treme) and English teacher Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) as they adapt to a life after the 'zombie' outbreak. The show is slow paced, each episode is an hour and there's a 90-minute pilot, but it manages to approach the Walking Dead world in a wholly different way. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Qx7V55NxTLZSboyzVFit4V.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Halt And Catch Fire Now in its fourth season, Halt And Catch Fire is another surefire hit by AMC - the folks that brought us Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Set around a fictionalised version of the computer revolution of the 1980s and the rise of the web in the '90s, Catch Fire is a fantastic look at how technology has improved all our lives, while nearly tearing apart the innovators at the same time. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yRPfHfLB48Vq6cCvT2F2R.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Hap and Leonard Filmed in Baton Rouge and based on the stories of Joe Lansdale, Hap and Leonard is a great swampy noir thriller of a show that’s based on the relationship of two friends and the sometimes violent scrapes they get into. James Purefoy and Michael K Williams are superb as the pair, one a Vietnam vet, the other a draft dodger. Set in the 80s, the show is similar to Cold In July, the movie from the same writer and is only six episodes long, so perfect for a binge watch. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vJ6FcARTph82XaZ4XXD8H.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Haven Stephen King has had a rocky journey to the big and small screen. For every adaptation that works (Misery, Shawshank Redemption), there’s a dozen that don’t (The Langoliers, Under The Dome TV show). Haven is a strange one - it’s a show that started as an adaptation of a Stephen King short story, The Colorado Kid, and has mutated into a love letter to King and his stories. Over the course of five seasons, the show has becomes a great watch - especially if you are a King fan and can spot the many references. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 4 Update: Haven is still available via Amazon Prime Video, but it's no longer free. You'll have to pay £2.49 per episode, or buy a whole season for £13.99. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/c990f4d0adfb492268c5e8b7a683429a.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Into The Badlands Into The Badlands is a heady mix of brilliant martial arts and high drama as trained fighter Sunny (Daniel Wu) takes a group of people on a twisted road trip through the mystical badlands, a post-apocalyptic landscape some 500 years after a devastating war. There's plenty of bite in each episode, and it also contains some of the best fighting seen on television. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/37980d8af975e2900bcbb93e44469286.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Mr Robot It was an agonising wait for Mr Robot in the UK - the first season had all-but ended in the US before we even got a sniff of it. But its popularity meant that there was something of a bidding war to see who would show it in the UK. Amazon, Netflix and other more traditional broadcasters fought for it, proving that even bean counters can see the worth in counter culture. Amazon won in the end and is the perfect place for a show that focuses on the exploits of hacker Elliot (a superb Rami Malek). Mr Robot is Fight Club for the Tor generation, lifting a lid on a world where what Linux kernel you use is not just a badge of honour but a way of life. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3265d04e9f420a59c8bf0eb2fac28c28.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Man In The High Castle There have been a number of successful Amazon pilots that have made it to a full series but none have the epic potential that Man In The High Castle has. This Philip K Dick adaptation is finally available to stream - with all episodes ready for your consumption. High Castle imagines what the world would be like if Germany had won World War II and the Nazis had taken global control. Turns out it's a bit worse than us all driving around in VW Beetles and wearing Hugo Boss coats. Season 2 is now available and expands on the mythos. Given this is a cautionary tale about what could happen when the hard right takes over America, things suddenly don't feel too far fetched. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5xhxA5UbBkYLJ2URJKYX7K.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Preacher Amazon of a Preacher, man! Preacher is the next big comic-book adaptation and my god it's good. It takes the deranged feel of the graphic novels and translates it well to the small screen. Dominic Cooper is great as small-town preacher Jesse Custer who, inhabited by a strange spirit, starts to do God's work in a small America town with his ex girlfriend (a brilliant Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire, played by Misfits' Joe Gilgun as his cohorts. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/DnbBAjKVDhcFT9hLBqiNX.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Ripper Street For a show that’s steeped in murder, it’s pleasing to note that we all have Amazon to thank for breathing new life into Ripper Street. After two series of the show, which focuses on the lives of the East End of London in the 19th Century where there is a copycat Jack the Ripper on the loose, it was cancelled by the BBC. Amazon decided there was enough fan love out there, thankfully, and revived the show for three more series. Great acting masks some of the hokier moments of the script but this is all good, grizzly fun. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 5 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/6e28bc54cabcd0660862c12b2e1b5729.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Sons Of Anarchy Seemingly always vying for the top spot of Best Recently Finished Drama (we may have made up that award) with Breaking Bad, Sons Of Anarchy is a long brooding menace of a show that deserves your attention. Centred on a motorcycle gang that live by their own rules (you can probably guess what their name is from the title) the show is positively Shakespearean in its storytelling and will have you gripped from episode one. While Ron Perlman steals the show as Clay, Charlie Hunnam's Jax is one of the best tortured souls you will see on any television show. All seven seasons of the show are now streaming on the service. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 7 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/f755ac41de15e0921b0030c5e89caa4e.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Vikings If you have any interest in Norse mythology then the name Ragnar Lothbrok will mean a whole lot to you. Basically he was a king and powerful ruler that was a right git to the English and the French. Vikings is a series that traces his Norse-based goings on with enough charm and scope to take on Game of Thrones in the sword and sandals stakes. Yes it takes a number of liberties with its source material but the acting is top class, as is the cinematography in a historical romp that's now deservedly in its fourth season - the second half of which is now available. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 5 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/sZjeJpqqe5EDqrN4snRddN.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The Walking Dead The Walking Dead has been reanimated more times than the zombies that harruange the group of survivors we have all come to know and love. Initially created with Frank Darabont at the helm, he left after the first season then his replacement was eventually replaced and their replacement replaced. With this in mind, it's amazing that not only has the show consistently managed to improve season after season it has become one of the most successful series ever. Yes it sometimes slumps along slower than a zombie with its legs hacked off but give it time and it will reward you with more drama than you can shake a bloody stump at. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 9 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/38df85c48132199d0659fa3ae6ba9c55.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video The X-Files The X-Files was one of the first shows that embraced event TV. Yes, it had many 'monster of the week' storylines but creator Chris Carter managed to produce a nine-season long mythology arc that kept viewers coming back for more. That and the brilliant casting of David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and the ever-excellent Gillian Anderson and Dana Scully. With a new 10th season on the horizon, Amazon has put all nine previous seasons on to Prime - all remastered in widescreen. Lovely stuff. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 9 The best of the rest, and coming soonhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/aXvSG3RJH6WhYHxZxjdGTc.png Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Good Omens Before he passed away in 2015, Terry Pratchett allegedly made Neil Gaiman promise he'd adapt Good Omens into a TV series, which is what Gaiman has been working on for the past four years. Seasons on Amazon Prime: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/DF4KesR75R2tiQsYY8BsrG.jpg All or Nothing We definitely recommend you get stuck into All or Nothing, a football documentary that follows Manchester City behind-the-scenes during the Premier League winning and record-breaking 2017/2018 season. It's an 8-part series that features all kinds of exclusive footage, from locker room pep talks with coach Pep Guardiola, and a look at the players' lives off and on the pitch. It's a must-watch for everyone from die-hard Man City fans to even those with a vague interested in footy. Seasons on Amazon Prime Video: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/65NeN4kzwaUnNnpiyvrKG.jpg Image Credit: Amazon Prime Video Batman: The Animated Series You've seen all the Nolan and Burton Bat flicks, and you're wisely avoiding the new Batfleck films. If you're still hankering for a Batman fix, you could do far, far worse than jumping into Batman: The Animated Series. Kicking off back in 1992, it bridges the gap of the Burton aesthetic and the comic book series, and is regarded by Batman fans as having perhaps the definitive onscreen take on the Dark Knight. It's ostensibly a kids cartoon, but the ongoing storylines are captivating and stylishly noir-like in delivery. And to cap things off, the voice cast is superb – Kevin Conroy is an assuredly-good Batman (reprising the role for the recent Batman: Arkham games), while Star Wars' own Mark Hamill is a fantastically unhinged Joker. Narrated by Michael Douglas, this documentary follows rookie driver Stoffel Vandoorne over four episodes, as he and his team prepare for the 2017 Formula 1 World Championship. It's all about Nick Burkhardt, a detective based in Portland in the US who discovers he's a Grimm. Which basically means he's a kind of mystical guardian who must keep the peace between humans and creatures called Wesen. As you might expect, a lot of the characters are inspired by Grimms' Fairy Tales, but the show draws from many other sources too to create a story that's a little like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, but with fairy tale creatures. 25. Samsung is bucking the trend of many smartphone manufacturers, as it continues to include a headphone jack on its flagship handsets, and it could well do the same for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.
