It's almost time for one of the world's biggest motor races. Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of summer in the US and while many people will be firing up their grills for the first time this year, racing fans will be eagerly awaiting the start of the Indianapolis 500. And the best news is that you can watch every minute of the racing action - no matter where in the world you are - thanks TechRadar's guide to getting an Indy 500 live stream. The race itself takes its name from the 500 miles of track that 33 Indy Cars will cover over the course of 200, 2.5 mile laps. The Indy 500 is one of the most famous auto races in the world and was first held in 1911. Since then the race has remained mostly unchanged and has been held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana. In a surprising turn of events during the qualifiers last Sunday, two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso failed to qualify for this year’s Indy 500. He had planned to complete the motorsport Triple Crown this year by adding an Indy 500 win to his Monaco Grand Prix and Le Mans victories. However, during Alonso’s final chance to qualify in the Last Row Shootout he was knocked out of the race by 23-year-old Kyle Kaiser. Alonso may be out but the race must go on and Simon Pagenaud, Ed Carpenter and Spencer Pigot will start first in row 1 followed by ED Jones, Colton Herta and last year's winner Will Power in row 2. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of IndyCar racing or just want to tune into the 103rd Indianapolis 500 this Memorial Day, we’ll show you how to live stream the Indy 500 event online from anywhere in the world. Baseball fan? You should also check out our MLB live stream guidehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/x4WvmjGdnEUCFeqhMUrnWo.jpg How to watch the 2019 Indy 500: live stream in the USRacing fans in the US with a cable subscription can watch this year’s Indy 500 on NBC. This will be the first time since 1965 that the race will not be broadcast on ABC after the network lost the rights so you can bet that NBC will be going all out with its coverage of the Indy 500. The network will begin broadcasting the event at 11am ET (8am PT, 4pm BST) though the race will start an hour and a half later at 12.30pm ET. You can also stream the Indy 500 via the NBC Sports live streaming website on desktop and mobile but you will have to enter your cable provider’s credentials to get access to this stream. If you’d prefer to watch the Indy 500 without commercials along with every practice leading up to Sunday’s big event, you can do so by purchasing the NBC Sports Gold IndyCar Pass. Usually the annual pass costs $64.99 but NBC is offering a deal ahead of the Indy 500 where you can get it for just $39.99. In addition to additional coverage of the Indy 500, you also be able to watch every Indy Lights race this year with the ability to stream full races on-demand or watch a shortened 30-minute Fast Forward recap. Get an Indy 500 live stream from outside your countryWith plenty of US viewing options (As well as details on how to watch the Indianapolis 500 in Canada and the UK below, too), you shouldn't have any trouble watching at home. The problems begin if you're away travelling outside the US this weekend. Try and tune into the NBC or any other domestic stream and you'll soon discover a big fat geo-block in your way. Annoying, but you can easily swerve around it with VPN. A Virtual Private Network allows you to change the IP address of your laptop, phone, tablet or - if you have one with you - TV streaming device. Set it to one back in your country (it's surprisingly easy to do), and suddenly you'll be able to watch an Indy 500 live stream as if you were sat back on your sofa. How to live stream Indy 500 in the US without cable - and for FREEIf you don’t have a cable subscription, don’t worry as there are still plenty of other ways to watch the 2019 Indy 500 on NBC without subscribing or purchasing a digital antenna for your TV. Update: The latest Huawei ban news sees the embattled Chinese electronics giant losing relationships with more essential component suppliers, as well as key retailers refusing to stock its phones. It's not all bad news, as details emerge of a possible Google Play Store rival and Huawei execs pledging to find a way around the chip issues. Huawei has found itself at the center of a global tussle between the US and China after Trump administration placed the Chinese brand on the ‘entity list’, limiting the business US companies could do with it. This has worldwide implications. It led to Google blocking Huawei’s future access to Android updates, UK-based chip designer ARM has ceased all activities with the brand, and multiple retailers and networks around the world to stop dealing with Huawei for fear of sanctions from the US government. While there has been a slight reprieve – on May 20 the US Commerce Department issued a temporary license for Huawei to work with businesses in the US, meaning US companies can temporally resume partnerships with the brand. Read more about the Huawei ban: Huawei’s Android rival is incoming, will be compatible with Play Store appsMicrosoft drops Huawei laptops from its storeHowever, this only lasts until August 19 and it's unclear how Huawei will be able to gain the full license to work with US companies while the government considers it a threat to national security – and it hasn't seemed to lead to a rekindling of efforts from companies like Panasonic or Microsoft. So it seems, for now, that this is nothing more than a delay to a hugely difficult time for Huawei and in a few months the brand will no longer be able to offer access to crucial Google apps or gain access to vital technologies. The company has already seen growth slow in the month of April as the ban began to cast a shadow, but since then other brands have pulled out of relationships with Huawei, so it's expected that May offer even worse results. Moreover, Huawei ban has spread to its involvement in the Wi-Fi Alliance and SD Association. It has been suspended from both, so the company's ability to shape the future of these core technologies is in now question. In the face of all of these setbacks, Huawei's founder Ren Zhengfei maintained a positive outlook for the brand, stating: “We will certainly be able to continue serving our customers. Our mass production capacity is huge, and adding Huawei to the Entity List won't have a huge impact on us. We are making progress in bidding worldwide,” Ren said. What does the ban mean if I have a Huawei phone?Perhaps the most useful piece of information about current Huawei phones is Google's statement issued to TechRadar: “We are complying with the order and reviewing the implications. For users of our services, Google Play and the security protections from Google Play Protect will continue to function on existing Huawei devices,” a spokesperson told us. That's good news if you’ve just spent large amounts of money on a Huawei P30 Pro: as alluded to above, current devices from the Chinese brand will continue to get security updates and access to the Play Store for the foreseeable future, as Google has promised not to leave those out in the cold. The temporary lifting of the ban will also allow the brands to prepare better Android support for current and future models, meaning that Huawei will be able to do business as it has been for a little longer – so current customers will be able to benefit for longer. Google has since resumed its relationship with Huawei, to enable it to deliver benefits for longer. Huawei has also said to TechRadar that it will continue to do all it can to support all its phones currently out in the wild, and is looking at other implications of Google's decision. The company told us: “Huawei has made substantial contributions to the development and growth of Android around the world. As one of Android’s key global partners, we have worked closely with their open-source platform to develop an ecosystem that has benefited both users and the industry. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5fcM3pjSZd5vGc32fMkFZe.jpg The Honor sub-brand of Huawei is also subject to the same constraints. Image credit: TechRadar "Huawei will continue to provide security updates and after-sales services to all existing Huawei and Honor smartphone and tablet products, covering those that have been sold and that are still in stock globally.” Huawei Australia has echoed the sentiment, and also claiming that “those that are planning to buy a Huawei device in the near future” will not have to worry about the sanctions, according to Huawei Australia’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Jeremy Mitchell. We've asked for comment regarding the recent lifting of the ban, but Huawei declined to comment. Whether this will allow the flexible Mate X to launch with 'full fat' Android remains to be seen, but that's likely to be a huge target for the brand as it's spent enormous sums marketing that model since the unveiling in February and is keen to lock in its reputation as a technological leader. It looks like the bendable phone will, at least, be delayed though - the CEO of UK network EE said, during the launch of its 5G networks, that the brand had temporarily paused stocking the phone while it worked to understand the implications of the trade ban. UK retailer Dixons Carphone has followed suit, halting plans to bring the 5G handset to launch as planned while the UK gears up to enter the next phase of connectivity. So while the fact current models will be offered updates, it's unclear how long these will last for, and the fact networks are already getting jittery about the sanctions isn't going to make anything easier for Huawei. While most smartphone brands will only honor security updates for two to three years after launch of a new handset, one might expect this to be much shorter in the case of Huawei phones, given these new restrictions from Google. What about future Huawei phones?http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ZUTyKeFSRaMHyvC9gtZx5L.jpg Image credit: TechRadar The move from Google means it will no longer work with Huawei directly on issuing updates to its system, and won't give the company access to the Google Play Store. This is a potentially critical blow to the brand, which only recently spoke out about its plans to be the world's largest smartphone manufacturer. This means that if Huawei wants to keep using the Android operating system, it will need to use the Android Open Source Platform (AOSP), which is a free platform that any brand can use as an underlying foundation for its products. However, it along with the Google Play Store it won’t have access to the core Google apps like YouTube, Google Maps and Chrome – these are core elements of Google's business that it's not duty bound to make available to anyone. Without access to the Play Store, Huawei would be forced to work directly with developers to get them to create versions of their wares for its phones. This situation would be similar to that of Amazon’s Fire OS, which is based on AOSP but has its own app store, as the retail giant seeks to control the platform its Fire tablets and Echo devices run on. If Huawei does have to use AOSP, the consequences could be devastating, as access to a fully-stocked app store is crucial to the success of any modern smartphone – Nokia and Microsoft failed to make Windows Phones a viable alternative to Android and Apple’s iOS, even though both brands poured millions into developer tools and enticing the top app creators onto their platform. However, Huawei has claimed that it's been developing its own alternative to Android for nearly seven years, calling it a ‘Plan B’ that’s ready to go should it lose access to the services listed above - naming it the HongMeng OS, and claiming its alternative operating system will be launched either at the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020, and would work across “mobile phones, computers, tablets, TVs, cars and smart wearable devices.” In the latest statement to TechRadar, Huawei said: “We will continue to build a safe and sustainable software ecosystem, in order to provide the best experience for all users globally,” which sounds like it already wants to generate some positive hype around its alternative OS. However, Huawei also said it would rather continue working with brands like Google and Microsoft (whose Windows operating system runs on Huawei laptops) to offer the best experience - a sentiment it has since offered around all its suppliers, hinting strongly that it hopes to resume actions when this ban is lifted. Huawei is also claiming that it can still create smartphones and other equipment with the components it has stockpiled before the ban, as well as creating new partnerships around the world. The brand has continued to state it believes working with international partners remains the best course of action - although has confirmed it's looking at how to manage as much as possible within its own country. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/i3aChsQf5uh5SVACMnkMM.jpg The Google Play Store is a key part of attracting users. Image credit: TechRadar. ”Huawei has been working hard on developing its own AppGallery and other software assets in a similar manner to its work on chipset solutions.” Ben Woods, Chief of Research at CCS Insight, told TechRadar. ”There is little doubt these efforts are part of its desire to control its own destiny.” If Huawei loses access to the Google Play Store, it would take an enormous amount of investment to attract developers to create app options that would keep users of its smartphones happy – and you have to wonder whether the brand would feel it was worth continuing to make phones at all when faced with that kind of hurdle. The same would also apply to Honor, the sub-brand of Huawei phones, in the future. Honor might have tried to distance itself from its parent company, but it’s been confirmed that it will be subject to the same sanctions. However, the launch of that brand’s Honor 20 smartphone went ahead as planned and made no mention of the issues facing its parent company – so it’s clear that devices currently created and in the supply chain are still going to be supported in the Android ecosystem. Since the news of the Android suspension, more details have emerged about Huawei's plans for the App Gallery on the HongMeng OS: it's been reported that the brand is offering app developers access to Chinese users, as well as financial incentives to networks to add its app portal to phones. Developers would be able to simply and quickly tweak their Android apps to work on Huawei's platform, and theoretically have access to a huge Chinese user base - although it remains to be seen whether Huawei phones will continue to be sold in strong enough numbers worldwide for developers to update and maintain their apps. Is this ARM news truly damaging?A huge issue facing Huawei is that chip designer ARM isn't going to work with the brand for the short term. That may seem odd, as it's a Japanese-owned brand headquartered in the UK, but as its designs use US-based technology, there's a fear this could fall foul of the trade restrictions. If the Huawei ban means it can't use ARM reference designs in its chipsets, it would be incredibly difficult and costly for the brand to replace them - and it may prove to be impossible, which would cast further doubt over the future of Huawei's phone arm. A Huawei spokesperson told the BBC: "We value our close relationships with our partners, but recognize the pressure some of them are under, as a result of politically motivated decisions. "We are confident this regrettable situation can be resolved and our priority remains to continue to deliver world-class technology and products to our customers around the world.” The upcoming Kirin 985 chipset is not believed to be affected, which would mean Huawei might be able to release another cycle of smartphone before the ban truly causes issues, but partners and networks are already starting to react to the US' trade license suspension. However, the loss of ARM support might take a little longer to be felt than previously thought: Huawei has apparently been granted a permanent license over key ARM technology from a few months ago, after it saw potential trouble ahead. This would allow it to keep using these key chip designs for the foreseeable future in its phones, laptops and infrastructure equipment. What about other brands? What does this mean for the wider smartphone world?http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Z7v6mznWtH4NevbTfsAMj9.jpg Image credit: TechRadar While these sanctions don’t currently affect other brands, the message being sent is clear: global politics can have dramatic implications for the manufacturing and marketing of consumer devices that have become indispensable for billions of people. While there’s currently no issue with brands headquartered in other parts of the world, a similar sanction could see other smartphone manufacturers forced into a costly rethink. A few years ago Samsung seriously threatened a breakaway move from Google’s Android operating system, as it felt the search giant had too much control over the operating system on its Galaxy smartphones. It worked to develop the Tizen OS, which is still used on devices like Samsung's Galaxy smartwatches, triggering negotiations with Google about allowing more freedom for manufacturers. (It’s worth noting that while Samsung did release smartphones based on Tizen, they were budget models, and didn’t come anywhere close to the success of its Galaxy phone range). The big beneficiary here could be Apple – President Trump has long advocated for the brand to move its operations from China to the US, and exempted Apple from the trade tariffs imposed on China so that the brand wouldn’t have to raise its prices. Huawei has been a thorn in Apple’s side of late, with the rise of the Chinese brand seeing it usurp its Cupertino-based rival in the worldwide rankings and become a serious competitor in the premium smartphone space – and Trump clearly wants to see the US tech giant do more of its business back home. However, moving its operations from China would be incredibly costly for Apple, and it would still need to source many components from Asia to build future iPhones, so it’s unclear what the effect would be, both on the company and the US economy. The loss of Huawei as a major player in the global smartphone market could also have a wider impact on the smartphones other vendors are pushing out. The Chinese brand’s aggressive development of new technological capabilities has forced rivals to significantly improve their devices and push out new advancements of their own, and any diminution of its influence would likely slow the rate of development. Huawei’s smartphone camera prowess has arguably kickstarted a race to offer cameras that deliver ever-better sharpness, color and overall image quality in the last two years – the quality of the pictures it's possible to take on a premium phone has improved dramatically as the brand's P series has relentlessly pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. The company is also in a race with Samsung to bring out the first widely available foldable phone – and the Huawei Mate X’s mere existence surely forced the South Korean brand to speed up its development of a bending handset, meaning consumers will get access to the technology earlier (although Samsung probably would have rather waited to deliver the Galaxy Fold…). So is it all over for Huawei? There is a glimmer of hope for Huawei’s continued use of Android and the capabilities that offers. The recent ban lifting means there's a real chance that negotiations can be entered into with the US government, allowing the brand to prove itself 'safe' and move out from the middle of the trade war between China and the US. This is far from certain, but things certainly look a lot less bleak for the brand. Google has also confirmed that it's ‘reviewing’ the situation, and the implications of the US sanctions – it doesn’t want to limit the reach of its Android ecosystem, and US brands like Qualcomm are going to be severely impacted by the Huawei restrictions, so will likely lobby to have this decision re-examined. However, if Google is forced to cut Huawei off from future Android security updates and access to the Play Store, then it could not only make things difficult for Huawei, but may cause consumers to view any Chinese brand with suspicion – and given the proliferation and technological prowess of the latest phones coming out of that country, that would also have a huge impact on the industry. So while this move seems to only affect Huawei right now, it’s going to have a knock-on effect for the entire industry, and will most likely have implications for the next smartphone you buy – and it could also mean the rise of a new mobile operating system, and potentially a serious challenger to Android. What about laptops? Currently, Microsoft can't sayhttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/9ELVlkRzsvI

Madden NFL is EA Sports’ long-running football franchise, and like clockwork, another one is headed our way with new features and improvements from last year’s game. Madden NFL 20 is almost certainly shipping later in 2019 with a few tweaks to the time-tested formula. Here’s what the new game might bring to the table after last year's much-loved entry in the series. Cut to the chaseWhat is it? The latest entry in EA Sports’ long-running football simulation seriesWhen can I play it? August 2 is the release date, but early access starts on July 31What can I play it on? Again, no official word from EA yet, but we would expect it to be playable on PS4, Xbox One and PCMadden NFL 20 release date and special editionsMadden NFL 20 will officially be released on August 2, 2019, and will retail for $59. Pre-ordering will grant buyers five Gold Team Fantasy Packs as well as their pick of one out of 32 Core Elite Players from your favorite NFL team. There will indeed be not one but two special editions. The first, Madden NFL 20 Superstar Edition, costs $79. For that extra cash, you get 12 Gold Team Fantasy Packs and one small Training Quicksell Pack in Madden Ultimate Team. Buyers also get early access to play the game on July 31, 2019, a full three days ahead of the standard launch date. The $99 Ultimate Superstar Edition of Madden NFL 20 starts players off with 15 Gold Team Fantasy Packs, one large Training Quicksell pack in Madden Ultimate Team, one Past and Present Elite Player Pack, one Madden Championship Series Pack in Madden Ultimate Team, and your choice of one unique Legend Superstar Ability for your created player in Face of the Franchise: QB1. Madden NFL 20 trailersMadden NFL 20 news and rumorsEA Sports has already revealed a lot of the new features coming to Madden NFL 20. Face of the Franchise: QB1 is the big new single-player mode: craft your player, pick their college, guide them through a draft and begin their big career. Thereafter, Madden’s new Scenario Engine generates personalized playable scenarios, events, and dynamic challenges, per the game's website. The regular Franchise mode is back, and features the return of Pro Bowl. The whole mode has been refined with new scenarios and tweaks all around, from ratings spread to player progression. There's also a new category for elite players: Superstars. 50 players in the game will fit the bill, and at certain points of play, they'll enter "the zone" and get bonus Superstar X-Factor abilities. These aren't ratings boosts or modifications, the game's site clarifies: "These are behaviors, characteristics, and situational outcomes, aspects of football, and it will be very clear to our players what impact they are having on the game by complimenting the player ratings, not modifying them." The popular Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) mode returns as well, and it's got a couple new features. Missions is a new feature that acts more like guidelines than a task-and-reward system. "Think of it as a roadmap to upgrading your squad with the items you want, with a clearly laid out path of how to earn those items or rewards," explains the game's website. In MUT, Solo challenges have been replaced by Ultimate Challenges, and the Superstar abilities and X-Factors are also supported. Only some chemistries have been brought over from Madden 19 to Madden 20, though new ones have been added. The mode will include player archetypes, a reorganization that clarifies player strengths with their roles on the field, and a return of House Rules. We're also curious how the game will change given this is the first in the series without creative director Max Dickson, who left six months before the release of Madden NFL 19. Madden 20 will be the third in the franchise running the Frostbite engine, and given the smoother action in last year’s entry with Real Player Motion, we're keeping an eye out for how this version has been tweaked. What we want to see from Madden NFL 20Madden NFL 20 for Nintendo Switch We’ve put this on our wish list for years, and we’re still hoping the next Madden game comes to the Nintendo’s fantastic hybrid console. EA has released a Switch version of the past couple FIFA games, and while they haven’t had the full list of features and modes that are present in their PS4 and Xbox One counterparts, owners of the Nintendo console did get to play a mostly intact port. We’re hoping Madden NFL players get to do the same. Longshot’s return Perhaps Madden 19’s next chapter of the single-player mode introduced in Madden 18, Longshot: Homecoming, was underwhelming. But it was still a favorite experience when it appeared two years ago, and we’re hoping EA Sports has course-corrected to tell better chapters in the stories of underdogs Cruz and Colt. Or maybe just start from scratch and give us a couple (or handful) of new characters to invest in. Alas, Face of the Franchise: QB1 seems like the single-player story/campaign mode that's set to take Longshot's spot, but as the internet wisdom goes, 'Why not both?' Project Atlas Okay, this is a bit greedy given EA only announced its cloud-based, stream-to-any-device service Project Atlas last October. But we’d love to see this Google Stadia-before-Stadia-was-announced service start showing up somewhere, somehow in Madden NFL 20. How could it help? All that compute could give players much more context to their plays. In a Medium blog post introducing Atlas and explaining AI applications, EA CTO Ken Moss explained it this way: “Imagine that you’re playing Madden, and you’ve just thrown your second interception of the game against the same cover 2 defense that caused the first turnover. Instead of the commentator simply stating that you threw a pick, the AI enables contextual, real-time commentary to reference the fact that you’re throwing to the sideline against a cover 2 defense and should have thrown against the weak zone over the middle to your tight end, who was open on the route. “This would certainly push the game into a greater level of contextual and experiential realism. The AI is working with your gameplay. It’s responding to your needs as a player.” Here's everything we're looking forward to at E3 2019http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/Pr30xEILyeY

Apple didn’t just improve the processors within its existing MacBook Pro models, but apparently the company has also improved the keyboards that these refreshed laptops offer, teardown site iFixit has learned. The new MacBook Pro has a high price, as have all MacBook Pro models before it. And, with a high price comes an expectation of high quality. But, for the last several years, Apple's MacBooks have had keyboard issues with missed and repeated key presses. They've been a result of the Butterfly keyboards used in MacBooks from the 12-inch version to the MacBook Pro. Apple has worked to address the issue in the past, making iterative changes to the butterfly keyboards, but the problems persisted. Apple even issue an apology over the keyboard failures many have experienced, and it went so far as extending its keyboard repair program to cover all MacBooks with Butterfly keyboards recently. That coverage includes the newest MacBook Pro models, but apparent changes made to the Butterfly keyboards within may help avoid a need to. Here's what we want in a MacBook Air 2019Get ready for Apple news at WWDC 2019These are the latest details and rumors about macOS 10.15What's different?Based on iFixit's findings, there's at least one change to the Butterfly keyboard. The previous version, which did have issues, used a different material in its switch covers. These are meant to keep debris away from the actual key switch that registers inputs. A Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy analysis revealed that the new switch cover is made out of nylon, while the old cover seemed to be mostly polyacetylene with aromatic urethane side groups. In addition, Apple may have made a change to the metal dome switch itself, but that hasn't been confirmed. The changes are presumably to address the issues that have affected earlier Butterfly keyboards. But, since Apple has already tried to sort out the problems in the past, we'll just have to wait and see if the latest Butterfly keyboard revision works out. We've contacted Apple for comment, and will update this story should we receive a response. The company behind WordPress.com and WooCommerce, Automattic has acquired the startup Prospress as it looks to expand its digital subscription offerings. The small startup made a name for itself by developing a recurring payment solution specifically designed for WooCommerce called WooCommerce subscriptions. By acquiring Prospress, Automattic will be able to charge its customers regularly through digital subscriptions to WooCommerce while controlling a larger part of the ecommerce stack. China says that cash still has a place in an e-commerce world5 myths about WordPress, bustedAmazon hit badly by new India e-commerce rulesIn addition to WooCommerce subscriptions, Prospress has also developed several other online tools including a marketing automation tool to remind customers when they have abandoned their carts while shopping online and a tool to test an online store's checkout functionality before it goes live. Currently the company has 20 employees which gives you an idea of its size compared to Automattic which has 900 employees. Shopify, which directly competes with WooCommerce, doesn't provide subscriptions on its own and customers have to rely on third-party products like Bold or ReCharge. WooCommerce's head of payments Paul Maiorana explained in a press release how Prospress will help the company build out its subscription model, saying: "The eCommerce subscription market has grown by more than 100 percent a year over the past five years. While Microsoft’s game-streaming service isn’t ready for primetime yet, it’s further along than anyone thought: Project xCloud, which is currently being beta tested by Microsoft employees, can already stream 3,500 games from the cloud with another 1,900 games potentially titles on their way. Microsoft unveiled these and other key details today in a new blog on the Xbox Wire, and says even more details will be revealed soon. The key points in today’s post are that Microsoft has a number of games that are already compatible with the service from the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and original Xbox game library, and claims that any game published on the Xbox One could be xCloud-compatible without any extra work from developers. To stream these games to customers, Microsoft has deployed xCloud servers to data centers across 13 Azure regions – including North America, Europe and Asia – and says that it will continue to build more centers as development continues. Just as interestingly, Microsoft says developers like Capcom and Paradox are currently running tests on the servers, and has updated its developer kit to include cloud-specific APIs. In some examples provided by Microsoft, the new developer tools allow creators to make multiplayer matches in the cloud more seamless by moving all connections to the same server and enables games to scale font size depending on the screen you're using. xCloud vs Now vs StadiaNumerical data, believe it or not, is Microsoft's greatest weapon at this point. Its biggest rival, Google Stadia, has yet to announce any details about the streaming service, telling journalists that more details would be revealed soon. Knowing exactly how many games we can expect when the service launches (somewhere between 3,500 and 5,400) should give some credibility to Microsoft's new game-streaming service, as should the number and locations of Microsoft's Azure servers. That last bit of information is so powerful, in fact, that even longtime rival Sony has said it would partner with Microsoft on building game-streaming technology. The pair announced a partnership last week, and say that it's primarily based around the shared development of Azure cloud technology – something Sony could use in the next iteration of its PlayStation Now service. While details are still light right now about both Google Stadia and Project xCloud, we expect to hear more about both at E3 2019 or shortly after. Curious about Stadia? Despite the introduction of GDPR last year, new research has revealed that consumers are still in the dark when it comes to how their data is collected, stored and used. Mobile journey marketing company Ogury surveyed 287,571 consumers to better understand their attitudes towards marketing, advertising and data use to coincide with the one year anniversary of GDPR. Surprisingly just eight percent of those surveyed feel they have a better understanding of how companies use their data since the regulation was introduced. Overall consumer awareness of GDPR was also quite low with 59 percent of respondents in the UK saying their understanding was no better than before the law came into effect while a further 29 percent said they did not even know what the regulation was. Majority of companies still aren't GDPR-compliantFacebook data collection raises questions for mobile operatorsMicrosoft calls for US version of GDPROgury's CEO and co-founder Thomas Pasquet explained that businesses first need to understand what GDPR is before they can educate their customers, saying: “GDPR has not been taken seriously enough by organizations. These might be disheartening numbers for lawmakers and regulators, who will have no doubt hoped for a far greater level of understanding from the very consumers that GDPR is designed to protect. But marketers should similarly take heed of this admission by users that the message is not getting through in sufficient numbers. Businesses need to deeply understand what GDPR is and in turn educate consumers around the importance of data sharing; this level of consumer education will become increasingly important across the globe.” Explicit user consentThe study's findings also revealed that businesses have not properly instituted a requirement for explicit and informed user consent in regard to data collection. Even when a consent notice does appear on a website, 78 percent of users globally don't read these notices in their entirety. Reading and understanding are also two very different things and roughly half of consumers globally (52%) said that even when they do read consent notices, they still do not understand how their data is used. This was even higher in countries where GDPR has been implemented with 58 percent of European respondents unsure of how companies use their data. Ogury's survey also revealed that wen given an explicit choice, 71 percent of those surveyed would be prepared to share data from mobile apps and website usage. In fact, they would even be willing to share their contact details as an alternative to paying for access to apps and online content. This is everything you need to know about GDPRhttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/JfOk9f8QxxQ

I’ve been using mobile phones since the mid-nineties and have seen several companies impact the industry. Motorola and Nokia helped shape much of the earlier years of mobile phones with the latter introducing me to my first “smart” phone with the Communicator. Then came BlackBerry that pushed productivity on mobile phones with push email and instant messaging and I was using one all the way till the iPhone grew up. What BlackBerry did for productivity, the iPhone did for touchscreens and that has helped shape the last decade of mobile phones. While the iPhone has targeted the premium-end of the market, Android brought smartphone to the masses and the likes of HTC and Samsung allowed Android to compete against the iPhone with premium build quality and new features. Although I’ve mostly stuck with the iPhone as my primary phone over the last decade, I’ve always had an Android, BlackBerry or Windows phone as a backup. That being said there have been a few times when an Android phone became my primary phone. Phones such as the HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z5 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 have pushed mobile phones beyond what they were capable of and convinced me to use them as my primary device- at least for some period of time. There’s one more phone that did that last year and that was the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/cPLKK9NSQ6ZodLQVYaHSyV.jpg Image Credit: TechRadar My introduction to the Huawei brand was about five or six years back when Huawei set up office in the UAE. When I asked how does one pronounce the name of the company the answer was a very simple reminder about the company’s state with consumers back in day- to remember it as a company that sounded like “Who are we?” Although that stuck with me, the devices Huawei was making at that time certainly didn’t and had you asked me about their phones in 2013, I would have just shrugged them off as a brand that almost everyone would never ever hear about. Huawei certainly proved me wrong! The first time I actually took notice of their phone was with the Mate 9 In 2016. It was the right phone at the right time- a large screen device with impressive capabilities released just a bit after Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7. Things had gone terribly wrong for Samsung that year- when large screen phones started becoming the norm and Huawei, with the impressive Mate 9 happily stepped in. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/p4XumsayUzmBsz2jEk5qaY.jpg Image Credit: TechRadar From the Mate 9 to the latest P30 Pro, Huawei has proved itself to be on the forefront of mobile phone technology and has become the second largest phone maker in the world. It reached that level by improving its products at a rate faster than its competitors. With the move into foldable technology, Huawei was set to lead mobile phones into what could possibly become the next defining form factor for the industry. The only competitor Huawei had to the Mate X was the Samsung Galaxy Fold, another product that hasn’t started on the right foot. I have played with the Huawei Mate X and was very excited about using it as my primary phone. But I don’t know if that would be the case anymore and it would be a shame if all the hard work Huawei has put into this industry comes to an end because of politics. Cutting off access to Android and ARM can severely restrict a phone manufacturer and although Huawei is acting calm on the outside, I imagine there is a storm brewing inside the company. Against many odds, Huawei has risen to the top of the smartphone market in recent years and I doubt it would give up that position without putting up a good fight. Following a recent report that the Galaxy Note 10 may miss out on Samsung's highly anticipated 64MP phone-camera sensor, it's now looking like the South Korean electronics giant will debut its megapixel monster on a far less premium device. According to Korean site ET News, Samsung is planning to bring the world's first 64MP phone camera to the Samsung Galaxy A70S handset – an upcoming mid-range phone which will likely be an upgrade to the just-released Galaxy A70. Samsung Galaxy Note 10: what we want to seeSamsung apparently has a plan to fix the Samsung Galaxy FoldThat Samsung would choose a mid-range phone to debut its 64MP sensor is hardly surprising, though – Samsung CEO DJ Koh told CNBC last year that the company would "bring technology and differentiation points starting from the mid-end." If the report does prove accurate, Samsung's Galaxy A70S could snatch the megapixel crown from current reigning champ Sony, which in 2018 debuted the IMX586 smartphone sporting a massive 48MP snapper. ET News suggests the Samsung Galaxy A70S could launch during the second half of 2019, though there's currently no word on which specific territories the phone will be released in. Computex 2019 is right around the corner, and besides massive announcements like the expected release of AMD's Ryzen 3000 CPUs and Navi graphics cards, plenty of other companies have kit to show. MSI is one of them, as it has upgraded its small form-factor gaming PC, the MSI Trident X, with new internals from Nvidia and Intel. The new MSI Trident X Plus comes alongside upgraded models of two MSI laptops, the GE65 Raider and GT76 Titan. The new Trident model will feature Intel's 9th-Generation Core i9 processor (CPU) and Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics for the best gaming performance, and that's all going into a 10-liter case. MSI claims this makes the new Trident X Plus the smallest gaming desktop in the world powered by a 9th-Gen Core i9 processor. To keep all those components cool despite their close proximity, the Trident X Plus is designed with MSI's Silent Storm Cooling 3 technology, which separates the CPU, graphics and power supply to have their own distinct channels for airflow. The previous generation of the Trident X proved to be one of the best gaming PCs, so the new model could have a strong shot at ranking. We'll have a better idea of just that once MSI releases the pricing and availability information for this bad boy. Get the details on Intel's Coffee Lake RefreshCheck out our review of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080Here's our review of the MSI Trident Xhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/nuc75hMJ4e9CvwGWv5gGeG.png Other peripherals for pairingA gaming desktop is only as good as the peripherals you use it with, and MSI has a whole suite of them to pair with its latest computers. The company has new keyboards and mice coming, but we haven't found the company to offer the best gaming keyboards or best gaming mice in the past. However, it also has a few new monitors on offer, and an earlier MSI Optix monitor ranked among our best gaming monitors. MSI has a new Optix 4K monitor with a 31.5-inch, curved display. It's positioned as a small TV replacement with FreeSync and sub-10ms input lag. There's also the super-fast Oculus NXG25R monitor with a Full HD display that boasts a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.5ms response time. At the more premium end, MSI also has the new Optix MPG341CQR monitor with a wide, curved 3,440 x 1,440 display boasting a 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms of input lag for smooth gaming. It also has a 21:9 aspect ratio for a cinematic experience that's furthered along by support for HDR with HDR 400 (we presume this is VESA's DisplayHDR 400 certification). MSI is rounding out its offerings with two new series of PC cases as well. Again, pricing and availability information is not yet available, something we hope to glean from MSI while on the show floor in Taipei. Computex 2019 is almost here, and with it will come a couple of new gaming laptops from MSI bringing the latest in high performance silicon from Intel and Nvidia. MSI has unveiled the new hardware in a press release ahead of the show in Taipei, where both will be on display from May 28th to June 1. The new laptops are upgrades to existing lines, with the MSI GE65 Raider stepping up in the thin and light gaming laptop space, while the MSI GT76 Titan upgrades the previous GT75 Titan's parts. While MSI has selected these two new gaming laptops to highlight, it may have even more in store. It will also be showcasing major updates to its productivity-focused Prestige series. Get the details on Intel's Coffee Lake RefreshCheck out our review of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080Here's our review of the MSI GT75 Titanhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/d88YGqGB5QYReEVbEAGy8R.png It's what's on the inside that counts hereThe 17-inch MSI GT76 Titan is coming in hot, but MSI has a new cooling solution to tame the 8-core/16-thread Intel Core i9 processor inside – even as it overclocks to 5.0GHz. The MSI Cooler Boost Titan system will include 11 heat pipes and four fans for serious airflow that should keep the Intel Core i9 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics running smoothly no matter what game you're playing. Meanwhile, the MSI GE65 Raider is keeping things more discrete, with a svelte design compared to its larger sibling. But, it's still aimed at smooth gaming with a 9th-Gen Intel Core i9 processor, GeForce RTX graphics, and a 15-inch, 240Hz IPS display for fluid visuals. Unfortunately, MSI has not yet revealed pricing and availability details for either of these laptops. We hope to get more information on this during Computex while on the ground. We'll be keeping a lookout for these laptops when they launch, so we can test them and see how they fair against the best gaming laptops. Considering that the GT75 Titan is already ranked highly, their odds may be good. These are the best graphics cards to datehttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/ldvYBZQEm5s

Dolby and Universal Music Group announced today that the pair will release ‘thousands of songs’ from the music label in the Dolby Atmos Music format. The new, remastered versions of these songs will include “a diverse list of artists across a wide range of genres, from hip-hop, pop, and rock through jazz and classical music”. In an email to TechRadar, a Dolby representative explicitly mentioned “What’s Goin On” by Marvin Gaye, “7th heaven” by Beck, “Drive” by R.E.M. and “Mama said Knock You Out” by LL Cool J. Dolby Atmos, for those who might not be familiar with the technology, is like super-powered surround sound that doesn’t just use two-channels (stereo), five-channels (surround) or seven-channels of audio, but rather any number of channels that the audio editor chooses. Each channel, in this case, can be an instrument or sound effect, layering the effects to create a 360-degree sound sphere. According to Michael Frey, UMG’s President of Operations, the reasoning behind the remastering is to allow artists to “share their music directly as intended and created in the studio. Dolby Atmos Music gives artists the power and creative freedom to express their story like never before.” The Dolby representative we spoke to didn’t give the exact timing of when the songs would be available to listen to, but said that the companies will have more information about the partnership soon. Information on AMD Navi graphics cards keeps leaking out, and this time the specs for the AMD RX 3080 have been spotted online ahead of Computex 2019. This leak comes via renowned leaker KOMACHI, and while the tweet was deleted, it was spotted by Wccftech. Despite the remarkably similar name, it doesn't look like the AMD Navi RX 3080 will go up against something like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080. How will AMD Navi compete with Nvidia Turing? Will AMD Navi mirror AMD Ryzen 2nd Generation's success? We'll show you how to build a PCInstead, with its rumored 2,560 stream processors and 8GB of VRAM on a 256-bit bus, it looks like it will take on RTX 2070 instead – something that recent leaks back up. We've heard for a while now that the first round of AMD Navi graphics cards – known simply as 'Navi 10' – would occupy the mid-range, rather than competing with Nvidia's flagship RTX 2080 Ti. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/SN8YYQvsgknKMRLgqumdz3.jpg Image Credit: AMD It's all coming together, nowBecause Computex 2019 is right around the corner, there's been a wave of speculation and leaks about AMD Navi, and it's all starting to come together. We already know that the next-generation mid-range graphics cards from Team Red are coming in Q3 2019, and it's rumored that Nvidia is gearing up to compete. It hasn't been confirmed to appear at Computex, but just a couple days ago we heard a rumor that these new GPUs would be on sale by July 7. Add that to all the leaked benchmarks, and we're pretty confident that at least some of the rumors are true. And, if Nvidia's recent 'Super' tease is any indication, Team Green is getting ready for something big to drop. It's going to be interesting to see if these rumored new AMD Navi GPUs are going to be able to compete in the mid-range, as that's where the real AMD vs Nvidia smackdown typically occurs. The flagships of the world get the headlines, but the mid-range is where people usually spend their cash. We just want to see if AMD can provide better value for the money at that $499 price tag with the Navi RX 3080 than Nvidia offers with the RTX 2070. But at least we don't have to wait too much longer until Computex 2019 to learn fact from fiction. Huawei expects the US ban will not lead to negative growth or harm the development of its 5G industry despite reporting weaker revenues in April. “Our growth will slow down, though not by as much as everyone imagines. In the first quarter of this year, our revenue grew 39% over the same period last year. This rate decreased to 25% in April, and may continue decreasing towards the end of this year,” Ren Zhengfei, Huawei founder, said in a statement. Last week’s White House order is expected to disrupt Huawei’s global business by limiting access to components and software, after a 90-day grace period runs out on August 19. Google's Huawei Android suspension: what it means for you“Our company will not end up with an extreme supply shortage...Even if there is an insufficient supply from our partners, we will face no problems. This is because we can manufacture all the high-end chips we need ourselves,” Ren said. Mo Jia, research analyst at Canalys, said that Huawei has stocked more components prior to the executive order and, “in the short term,Huawei still has sufficient components, however, if Huawei failed to change the situation, it’s a matter of time that the production of its 5G equipment would be impacted,” he said. According to industry reports, Huawei buys more than $11 billion in goods and services from US companies each year. The Chinese player will have to get government approval to buy parts or technology from US suppliers. Huawei in a strong position to move aheadRen reiterated that the company is in a strong position to move ahead despite recent political actions in the US. Moreover, he said that most of the companies that provide consulting services to Huawei are based in the US, including dozens of companies like IBM and Accenture. “The US is a country ruled by law. US companies must abide by the laws, and so must the real economy. Our close relationships with US companies are the result of several decades of effort on both sides. These relationships won't be destroyed by a piece of paper from the US government,” he added. As long as these companies can obtain approval from Washington, Ren said that Huawei will continue to buy in large volumes from them. “It may be the case that they cannot obtain approval quickly. We have ways to go through this transition period. Once approval is granted, we will maintain our normal trade with these US companies and work together to build an information society for humanity. We don't want to work alone,” he said. “I don't know exactly what [those US] politicians are thinking. I think we should not be the target of US-led campaigns just because we are ahead of the US.” The Huawei founder said that Europe will not follow in the footsteps of the US, and the majority of US companies are communicating closely with us. “We will certainly be able to continue serving our customers. Our mass production capacity is huge, and adding Huawei to the Entity List won't have a huge impact on us. We are making progress in bidding worldwide,” Ren said. When the Amazon Prime Day deals roll into town in July, it's a no-brainer that the Amazon Echo Dot will get a big discount like it does every year. The thing is, it'll be nowhere near as good as this one - and it ends at 9am tomorrow. This is a UK-only deal, but we've rounded up the latest top deals in the US over on our Memorial Day sales page. UK readers, be sure to check out the Bank Holiday sales this weekend too. We're expecting Prime Day to bring the Echo Dot down to £29.99 as per usual, or £24.99 at the very best if Google aggressively price cuts the Google Home Mini as the search giant can't help but wind Amazon up any chance it gets with its line of rival smart speakers. Act fast though, and you can get an Amazon Echo Dot bundled in with a month of Amazon Music Unlimited's (it's like Spotify) family plan for just £15.98. That's £14.99 for Amazon Music and a mere 99p for the Echo Dot smart speaker on top. That's insanely good as you're saving £49 off the RRP. So yes, the catch to getting this super cheap price is having to sign up for another service and making sure you pay for a month's access after any free trial period ends. But considering it only costs £14.99 and you can cancel it straight away once you've paid for a month, that's a stunning offer. Amazon will then send you a discount code which you can use to discount an Echo Dot down to just 99p. You might not want to cancel the excellent music streaming service though, especially as it works so well with Alexa smart speakers like the Echo Dot with you being able to simply request songs, artists and albums with voice commands. The family plan allows you to share access to over 50 million songs on six accounts to be played on smart speakers, mobiles, laptops, Fire TV devices and more. In today’s age of instant gratification, consumers are used to getting what they want, when they want. Every interaction we have with a brand is expected to be quick, seamless and personalised for our convenience. Despite this, the average Briton can spend up to 235 days waiting in a service queue or line over the course of a lifetime. Whilst clichés would suggest the British are content with queueing, this could not be further from the truth and in reality, today’s queueing culture is actually having a detrimental effect on a business’ bottom line. Customers that are made to wait for a long period of time are less likely to repeat their business with a company, which could have dire financial implications. In fact, the average person in the UK is now unwilling to wait more than six minutes for a service and two-thirds of shoppers (69 per cent) have decided not to buy an item because of the size of the queue in-store. The race is on to offer a unique experience tailored to the individual consumer that encourages them to buy more products and services, whilst strengthening customer loyalty and creating a greater sense of brand solidarity. At the centre of this lies the checkout and how a customer service operation manages this most important of interactions in the customer journey. Google has a plan to help you spend less time queueingBarclays combines bPay and Pingit contactless servicesThe evolution of digital innovation and customer experienceBusiness mobility will be keyMost queues or long wait times are a result of manual processes and outdated legacy systems that often use traditional payment systems, contributing to a slower service. But because of the Amazon effect, consumers now expect an enhanced experience around the clock. Businesses must act fast to take advantage of technology such as digital signage, tablet scanners, mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) and self-checkout terminals to remain competitive. The goal should be to make the bricks of the business intelligent by adapting them to new customer behaviours and the key to success does not lie in expanding the business but to utlise the technology available. By investing in staff, businesses can create a mobile workforce that will not only improve the experience for consumers but could also convert potential ‘window shoppers’ into loyal customers. This next generation of salespeople combines characteristics of the personable manner of the good old sales advisor with in-depth knowledge of how to fulfill the needs of today’s tech savvy consumers. For example, a tablet empowers a shop assistant with all the information they need to do their job, providing access to the shopping history of registered customers, as well as enabling the assistant to immediately check stock levels and availabilities. As new technologies rapidly enter the market, there is a correlating increase in the number of channels through which businesses interact with customers, adding to the complexity and cost of those interactions. It is therefore more important than ever to recognise how a mobility strategy can help to anticipate customer needs, tailor business processes to better serve customers, and improve the efficiency of a business. Creating an omnichannel customer experience By implementing a dedicated mobility strategy across both online and offline operations, unnecessary queueing will become a thing of the past in retail. By streamlining the value chain and creating an omnichannel customer experience, workers will be empowered to multi-task more effectively, and ultimately provide a higher level of customer service. Alongside this, vast amounts of data are created by consumers as they shop through these multiple channels. Technologies that can interpret this information and provide real-time, data-driven insights are invaluable to businesses that want to improve their interactions with customers. This data also has a key role to play in automating time-consuming processes and providing a more personalised shopping experience that consumers are demanding. For customers, easy-to-use self-service tools such as contactless payment and automated ordering services not only have a tremendously positive impact on customer satisfaction, but ultimately a business’ bottom line. In fact, according to our own research, 67 per cent of shoppers are more likely to shop at a store that integrates technology and over two-thirds believe retailers that utilise more technology enable a faster shopping experience. These business mobility technologies have the power to combine people, processes and technology to not just manage mobile devices, but also derive true business value from the digital age. For businesses that put customer service at the heart of their operation, understanding consumer behaviour will be critical and delivering solutions that reduce friction throughout the customer journey. Whilst a business mobility strategy can be complex to implement, effective execution can have a direct impact on both customer satisfaction and retention, putting brands miles ahead of the competition. The race to bring 5G to the UK is coming to a head – EE announced it will switch on its network on May 30, beating the competition to the punch. But now we've heard Vodafone will actually launch its first exclusive 5G phone before that, making the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G the first 5G phone you can buy in the UK. In a statement, Vodafone confirmed it will offer the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G from today, and it'll also sell the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G – there's no release date for this latter phone at the time of writing, but the Galaxy will be available on EE from June 7, so it could be a roughly similar date. These are all the 5G phones we're expecting to seeThere's a good chance we'll see a 5G Samsung Galaxy Note 10Check out our Xiaomi Mi 9 reviewThe Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G isn't going to be quite like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 4G phone as, according to Vodafone, the 5G phone has a 24MP and 2MP dual rear camera array, whereas the 4G handset has two 12MP rear snappers. Showing the differencesWe've contacted Xiaomi to find out if there are any differences between the phones, and will update this article when we get a response. Vodafone is presenting the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G as its 'affordable' 5G handset, as it's a far more mid-range device than the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, but with an upfront price of £99.99 and costing £50 per month for even the most affordable contract, it's not exactly a cheap phone. If you buy the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G phone today you won't be able to connect it to 5G networks yet - which is something of an issue when you're paying that much more - but it'll still run on 4G, and you'll get an early glimpse at what the future of phones holds. The first 5G phone in Europe was unexpected – here's what that means for youhttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/AVlKVj6xrJ0

Google Duplex – the AI-powered service that can call restaurants to place a booking on your behalf – remains heavily reliant on human beings. The free service from Google is available to iPhone and Android users, and the idea – if not the technology – is a simple one. Rather than calling a restaurant yourself to book a table, Google Duplex will make the call for you, using artificial intelligence to hold a conversation with the person in charge of reservations. Except in a quarter of cases, it's a human rather than AI that is placing the call. What is Google Duplex?Digital assistants: Siri vs Google vs AlexaWhat is AI? Everything you need to knowThe finding comes courtesy of the New York Times which discovered that in a surprising high number of cases, the realistic-sounding human on the other end of the phone really was human rather than the Google assistant. Google Duplex has been available for around a year now, starting off as a limited release for some Android users before expanding to a wider range of handsets including iPhones. To many, the idea of a robo-calling system being used to place bookings seemed a little too good (or too futuristic) be true, and for a percentage of calls, this is the case. The New York Times' investigation into Google Duplex led to a confirmation from Google that for around 25 percent of Google Duplex calls, it was a human who initiated them rather than an AI system. On top of this, a further 15 percent of calls which were started by the AI system required intervention from a human. Too good to be true? While these are hardly damning statistics for Google, it shows that Duplex still has some way to go before it can be considered self-sustaining. When Google announced Duplex last year, it was described as "an AI system for accomplishing real-world tasks over the phone" and Google conceded that the system was to be "constrain[ed] to closed domains, which are narrow enough to explore extensively". It added: "Duplex can only carry out natural conversations after being deeply trained in such domains. It cannot carry out general conversations." This is precisely why the system is only being used, at the moment, for restaurant reservations. There are, in theory, a limited number of queries and responses that could arise in a booking scenario, making it easier for an automated system to deal with. But the findings of the New York Times show that even in this relatively limited environment, there is some way to go. Google plans to expand the capabilities of Duplex into other areas. It has talked about making reservations at hairdressers, and at its Google I/O developer conference earlier this month, the company talked about expanding it from smartphones and onto the web. CEO Sundar Pichai has suggested using the system to make a car rental reservation, or booking movie tickets, as well as helping people to fill in online forms. Work in progressThe revelation that so many calls currently require human interaction could be seen as an indication that Google Duplex is failing, but it is more complicated than that. As an AI-driven system, Duplex is learning, evolving and improving all the time, so its success rate should naturally start to improve. But there is also another side to consider: the human receiving the call from Duplex. While very human-sounding, Duplex-initiated calls are identified as such, and those answering the call will learn over time how best to interact with the system to improve efficiency and success rates. With every update, Windows 10 gains a lot of new features, but Microsoft also gives the elbow to some functionality, and highlights features which will no longer be developed. So, the list of features being ditched with the freshly launched May 2019 Update has just been published by Microsoft, and the good news is that in terms of what’s being removed, it’s nothing that you will likely shed any tears over. How to defrag Windows 10Google kills Windows 10 on ChromebooksHow to install the Windows 10 May 2019 UpdateFirstly, support for XDDM-based remote display drivers is set to be removed in a future release, Microsoft notes, adding: “Independent Software Vendors that use XDDM-based remote display driver should plan a migration to the WDDM driver model.” And secondly, the desktop messaging app is losing the sync feature which allowed it to sync text messages received from Windows Mobile devices, keeping a copy of them on the PC desktop. Of course, Microsoft’s mobile OS is dead in the water and reaches end-of-life in December 2019, so it’s not surprising that this particular piece of functionality isn’t important to the company any more. Windows To Going, going… gone!As for the features which are no longer under active development, these include the roaming of Taskbar settings (where it’s positioned, whether it auto-hides, and so forth), and Microsoft advises that this capability will be disabled in a future release. Windows To Go – which allows you to boot up a workspace from a USB drive – will also no longer be developed, and the Print 3D app is being replaced by 3D Builder (which you can snag from the Microsoft Store). Finally, when it comes to Wi-Fi networks using outdated WEP security, or TKIP encryption (used in WPA – as opposed to WPA2 or WPA3), Windows 10 will now issue a warning when you connect, and in the future, connecting to these networks will be blocked completely. Microsoft rightly doesn’t consider them secure enough anymore. These are the best laptops of 2019Via Softpedia http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/hTdT-rkBgLw

The best Intel processor is a fine way to get a sweet new gaming PC up and running if you're looking to choose among the best processors to buy. And, while the debate between AMD and Intel is always raging, we went ahead and gathered up the best Intel processors, tested them and created this list. For years, Intel processors have been some of the best for gaming thanks to their high IPC (instructions per clock) performance, paired with high clock speeds. And, while that’s still true, you’ll find Intel processors in more than just a gaming rig. Intel Basin Falls Refresh processors rule the HEDT (high-end desktop) space, with high-performance processors (at an equally high cost) that are perfect for serious creatives and professionals. And, even if you’re on a budget, something like the Intel Pentium G4560 is perfect for making a bang-for-your-buck build. So, no matter what kind of CPU you’re looking for, Intel has you covered. And, we went ahead and gathered up all the best Intel processors right here, along with our exclusive price comparison tools, so you can spend less time shopping, and more time building. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/dm45bQFTkZNJTjn2KHYBPV.jpg Image Credit: Intel Intel Core i7 processors have always been the go-to for anyone looking for the best Intel processors. They traditionally deliver excellent performance, without breaking into the high prices of HEDT chips. The Intel Core i7-9700K continues in this tradition, but without the hyper-threading that defined earlier generations. Instead, the focus is on delivering high clock speeds – the 9700K boosts up to 4.9GHz right out of the box. This makes the Intel Core i7-9700K the best Intel processor for most people, as most everyday tasks won’t require more than eight threads. Read our hands-on review: Intel Core i7-9700K http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/HBZwEvexbTXerCc8PsNu58.jpg Image Credit: Intel While there are certainly plenty of games that take advantage of multi-threaded processors these days (looking at you, Battlefield V), PC gaming is still mostly a single-threaded world. And, that’s why something like the Intel Core i5-9600K makes for such a great processor for gaming. Single-threaded performance is out of this world, which should help make high frame rate gaming feasible. The best part? This Intel processor is affordable, so you can spend more money on one of the best graphics cards. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3RgXY2EyVyKSo5AfKbZGgj.jpg Image Credit: Intel If you’re building a home theater PC, shelling out for a beefy Intel Core processor doesn’t make much sense – playing HD video doesn’t take a lot of horsepower. But, that’s where the Intel Pentium G4560 shines. For less than a hundred bucks, you can get decent performance that, while not the best for gaming or productivity work, is more than enough to watch some movies. Plus, the Intel Pentium G4560 has integrated graphics, so you don’t need to shell out for a new graphics card. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/P3nnjfPCEmPF8X4fV2bJi9.jpg Image Credit: Intel If you’re looking for the best performance you can get out of a mainstream Intel Core processor, you’re going to want to take a look at the Intel Core i9-9900K. This thing is packed with 8-cores, 16-threads and boosts up to 5.0GHz right out of the box. Whether you’re playing the best PC games or balancing 20 different spreadsheets, the Intel Core i9-9900K is the best Intel processor when you need raw horsepower. Just be aware that all this raw power comes with a high price tag. Read our full review: Intel Core i9-9900K http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ay5Zjb4tPfsTH8KCmXdcqd.jpg Image Credit: Intel If you looked at that price and felt your jaw drop, there’s a reason why: the Intel Core i9-9980XE is an extremely expensive processor. However, for that price you’re getting 18 cores and 36 threads that can power through virtually any creative or professional workload without breaking a sweat. At the end of the day, the Intel Core i9-9980XE is one of those products where if you need to ask the price, it’s probably not for you. But, if it is for you, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better Intel processor.
