Rumors of a new 32MP APS-C Canon DSLR have been rife lately, with many hoping the camera manufacturer would finally revive its aging – and very popular – EOS 7D line. After all, it’s been over four years since the 7D Mark II was launched. However, anyone hoping to see this popular line resurrected should probably prepare for disappointment as Canon Rumors is reporting that the 7D Mark II is the last of its kind. According to the report, Canon is ending the 7D series in favor of a mirrorless EOS R snapper, much like how the EOS RP takes over from where the full-frame 6D Mark II leaves off. Cause for concern or excitement?Canon Rumors has been informed that some “dealers and distributors are a bit worried about what Canon has in store for the replacement to the popular EOS 7D Mark II, as those buyers also buy lenses”. Canon Rumors also adds “there’s more to come with the RF mount that has yet to be revealed to the world,” so there's a strong possibility that Canon could already have a new APS-C crop sensor mirrorless camera in the pipeline to join the EOS M range. The rumored 32MP DSLR might then replace the three-year-old EOS 80D as the new Canon EOS 90D. This camera is believed to launch in August this year, with dual DIGIC 8 processors, 4K video capabilities, 10fps burst speed and dual SD card slots amongst its speculated specs. Best beginner DSRLsBest enthusiast DSLR cameras10 top mirrorless models to suit every budgetLimiting the DSLR choiceDespite launching the EOS R line, Canon has stated that it plans to continue supporting its DSLR range. In support of that statement, the company launched the Rebel SL3 / EOS 250D (called the EOS 200 Mark II in some markets) in April this year, but the mid-range and pro-level DSLRs haven’t seen a refresh since the 6D Mark II. However, there are whispers of an EOS 1D X Mark III launching in 2019 but, like all rumors, we’d suggest you take this news with a pinch of salt. Instead, there are many more rumors of high resolution mirrorless snappers being developed by Canon, including a 63MP full-frame EOS R body that could potentially replace the 50MP EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R professional-level cameras. With speculation rife about more mirrorless cameras incoming, Canon seems to be pushing its customer base towards the EOS R and M lines. For Canon DSLR users, though, that would mean spending money on a lens adapter to continue using their current lenses or investing heavily in a brand-new kit. How this change will go down with Canon’s DSLR fans remains to be seen. The 10 best DSLRs to buy in 2019http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/CZwjbj34nSI

Roughly a year ago, Google rolled out Confidential Mode for Gmail users as part of a big refresh to its web email system – an update that also included other new features such as Smart Compose and an overhauled, customizable interface. Now, Google has announced that its Confidential Mode will finally be rolling out to its G Suite business users starting from June 25, and when the option does land, it will be set to ‘on’ by default for both admins and end users. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/p356qdinW7cLeJycqr9w48.jpg The Confidential Mode icon as it appears for Gmail users. [image credit: TechRadar] Google is now rolling out Confidential Mode and Smart Compose for GmailConfidential Mode is an optional feature that allows users to send 'emails' with an expiration date, limiting the time that potentially sensitive information can be accessed by the recipient. This is done by creating a link to an external version of the email that's actually stored by Google. Emails of this nature aren’t able to be forwarded and their contents can’t be copied or downloaded, and for extra security, senders are able to request that the recipient enter a randomly-generated code sent to them via SMS. However, critics of the feature have pointed out that screenshots or photos of the computer's screen are simple ways to circumvent the measure, and that the promise of privacy may lull users into a false sense of security. There are also concerns raised by organisations such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation that the implementation of Confidential Mode lacks end-to-end encrypted and can, thus, be stored and accessed by Google itself. Here's how to switch to the new Gmail designhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/jDssmcJnreSZfCTkL3JSXf.jpg Here's how an admin can disable the feature ahead of the rollout. [image credit: Google] If you’re an admin and wish to disable this feature for your users ahead of its arrival, you can navigate to 'Apps > G Suite > Settings for Gmail > User settings' and select “Disable” rather than the “Enable when the feature is in general availability” option which is selected by default. For regular users of G Suite, unless your admin has disabled the mode, you’ll be able to send confidential emails like regular Gmail users – that's done by selecting the ‘clock and padlock’ icon in the lower left of the Compose window when sending an email. Gigabyte had plenty to show off over at Computex, including a blazing fast new solid-state drive (SSD), alongside new high-end motherboards and a number of interesting looking gaming monitors. Let’s start with that Aorus NVMe SSD, which is an M.2 model that uses PCIe 4.0 – a new, super-quick interface that is supported by the aforementioned new motherboards – more on those shortly – to push solid-state speeds to even greater heights. WD’s Black SN750 NVMe SSD seriously impressed us recentlyWe roundup all the best cheap SSD dealsDo the best hard drives even matter anymore? We are talking sequential read and write speeds of 5,000MB/s and 4,400MB/s respectively, which is incredibly fast, putting even something like Samsung’s recently unleashed 970 Evo Plus to shame (which achieves read/write performance of a claimed 3,500MB/s and 3,300MB/s via PCIe 3.0). Gigabyte has also equipped this SSD with a full-body copper heatsink for better cooling, with the added benefit that it makes the drive look pretty snazzy, too. The Aorus NVMe Gen4 SSD will come in three capacities – 500GB, 1TB and 2TB – although pricing hasn’t yet been mentioned. The SSD is apparently ready to roll, and will be arriving ‘soon’, although the manufacturer didn’t specify an exact launch date. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/G3hAuJXwozx6x9KiRCgha5.jpg Gigabyte’s top-of-the-line X570 Aorus Xtreme motherboard (Image credit: Gigabyte) Mother of all motherboards?Of course, those hugely impressive speeds are achieved thanks to the Aorus NVMe SSD’s use of PCIe 4.0, so you’ll also need a new motherboard that supports the tech such as one of Gigabyte’s X570 series, along with one of AMD’s incoming Ryzen 3000 processors. X570 is AMD’s new PCIe 4.0-toting chipset, and offers much faster performance for SSDs (and indeed graphics cards down the line). Gigabyte has further honed the design of its motherboards with these X570 products, the company claims, using low inductance, server-grade circuit boards, and 16-phase digital power with an advanced thermal design. In other words, the firm is aiming to please overclockers, and the top-end board, the X570 Aorus Xtreme, boasts goodies including a “thermal reactive armor design with fins-array heatsink [and a] NanoCarbon baseplate”, along with built-in Wi-Fi 6 (and Bluetooth 5), not to mention multi-zone LED lighting. Smart fan technology will also be on-board, which includes a sensor to measure noise levels, and allows the user to adjust things for quieter operation if needed. There will be seven different variations of X570 motherboards from Gigabyte in total, with a range of features and costs, moving down from the aforementioned flagship (although again, no pricing has been mentioned yet). It’s also worth noting that as well as the above SSD, Gigabyte was showing off an 8TB SSD with claimed sequential read speeds of up to 15,000MB/s – although technically this is actually four 2TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 drives (as seen above) slapped together in a RAID 0 array on the Aorus M.2 PCIe 4.0 riser card. So technically, it’s not a single SSD, but effectively four bolted together, and doubtless it will be (even more) eye-wateringly expensive; but it’s an interesting development nonetheless. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/6kjmXwavd5ps7J6ZwsJg8C.jpg The Aorus KD25F monitor is designed for shooters. (Image credit: Gigabyte) Tactical monitorsFinally, Gigabyte was keen to introduce what it’s billing as the world’s first ever tactical monitors, as opposed to just plain-old standard gaming monitors – the distinction being that tactical monitors help you to play better. How? The monitors include game assist features, including an "aim stabilizer," dashboard timers (for things like spawns), along with active noise cancelling and an OSD sidekick for conveniently and swiftly adjusting settings – such as for the mouse and keyboard – on-the-fly. The three displays are headed up by the Aorus KD25F, which is designed for first-person shooters and carries all the aforementioned features. It runs with a 24.5-inch TN screen that has a 0.5ms response time, along with a 240Hz refresh rate. The resolution is Full HD and the panel delivers 100% of the sRGB color spectrum, as well as supporting FreeSync and being G-Sync compatible. There’s also the Aorus CV27F, a curved monitor aimed at MOBA players, and the curved Aorus V27Q which is Black Equalizer 2.0 enabled, meaning it displays dark scenes with better clarity (helping you see better in the shadows in some games – and making movies look better for that matter). The V27Q is a curved (1500R) VA panel which supports FreeSync 2 HDR and has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440, with a 1ms response time and a 165Hz refresh rate. Hopefully some pricing and launch date information for these monitors will follow soon enough. Check out all of TechRadar's Computex 2019 coverage. We're live in Taipei to bring you all the breaking computing news and launches, plus hands-on reviews of everything from fresh laptops and desktops to powerful new components and wild overclocking demonstrations. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/CNek2fCLTGo

Amazon Echo vs Google Home: which is the smart speaker for you?
sincity posted a topic in Technology
If you're in the market for a smart speaker, then you're going to have to weigh up the Amazon Echo vs Google Home question: how do you split two of the best devices out there? Well, hopefully we can help. As you would expect from two of the biggest names in tech, the Amazon Echo and the Google Home are both very polished smart speakers, and neither would look out of place in your home. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are both maturing and becoming more useful with every passing day too. Both the Amazon and Google smart speakers (and their assistants) let you get answers to questions, set timers and alarms, control smart home devices, and much, much more – all with spoken voice commands. The Amazon Echo and Google Home devices have a lot in common then, but they are also some key differences to talk about. You need to be aware of what you're getting before you part with any of your hard-earned cash. We know that the smart speaker is at the center of most smart homes: but is the Amazon Echo or the Google Home right for you? Let's dive in. After a smart speaker with a screen? See our Google Home Hub vs Amazon Echo Show comparisonAmazon Echo vs Google Home FAQ: quick questions answeredIs Alexa better than Google? That's a tough question because they're both similar and we find it difficult to pick between the two. Which one you decide to go with may well depend on which you personally prefer and what kind of products you're using than which is technically 'better'. Having said that, Alexa tends to be better when it comes to support for a wider range of devices, as well as better smart home integration. So if you have a lot of smart home devices already, Alexa might be your best bet. However, lots of users who have put the two devices head-to-head believe Google Assistant could be the smarter of the two. And, with Google's A.I. learning experience, it has the biggest potential for the future. Is there a monthly fee for Echo? No. You don't have to pay anything extra after you've purchased an Echo product. Although you do get some perks if you're an Amazon Prime member, like access to Amazon Music. Can Alexa drop in on Google Home? No. Alexa's Drop In feature only works with other Alexa-enabled devices. What's the difference between Echo and Google Home? As we've said above – very little right now. They're both very capable smart assistants that respond to voice commands and work well with many smart home devices. Read our full head-to-head below to get a better idea of the specifics. Amazon Echo: the different models comparedLet’s kick off with the smart speaker that started it all. Back in 2014, Amazon launched the Echo, and it's now up to its second generation model: standing 148 mm tall and sounding pretty decent for its price, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections supported, it's an impressive bit of kit. It also features that signature blue ring around the top telling you when it's heard the "Alexa" wake word. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/r2scUbni7Gq8GSqeMGYSMW.jpg The Amazon Echo Dot Perhaps the most popular Echo of all though, and one of our favorite smart home devices full stop, is the Echo Dot – that's likely because it’s the cheapest of the entire bunch and is about the same size as a hockey puck, making it a no-brainer for those who want to try smart home tech for the first time. Now in its third generation, the Echo Dot doesn't have the best audio quality in the range, so it's best suited for rooms where music playback won’t be its primary function. That said, you can pair it up with a Bluetooth speaker or another audio device using an AUX jack connection, making it a cost-effective upgrade you can make to any aging Hi-Fi system. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/uWDscK6nYobtkE2bfdLmfF.jpg The Amazon Echo Plus Then there's the pricier, 2nd-gen Echo Plus: slightly taller than the vanilla Amazon Echo, with improved sound and integrated smart home hub features – meaning it can be more tightly integrated with the various other bits of smart home kit you've got installed. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/BEzTmbQXuJVsmwUen3rKeQ.jpg The Amazon Echo Show And what about the newly upgraded Echo Show? It's essentially an Amazon Fire tablet with an Alexa-enabled speaker built in, so you can get Amazon Prime Video or the weather forecast up on screen as well as having responses read out to you. It's a perfect gadget for the kitchen (think recipes and video watching). Amazon has also recently launched a mini version of the Echo Show, called the Echo Show 5. With a 5.5-inch screen, it'd designed to sit on your bedside table whilst still being big enough to watch videos on. The other smart speaker in the Amazon Echo line to come with a screen is the Echo Spot, which you can think of as an upgraded Echo Dot – this Echo is perfect for a bedside table, with the ability to make video calls through its circular screen. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/UDQ24Ar5N2xWPbXESMUNck.jpg The Amazon Echo Spot All of these devices have access to the majority of Alexa's skills (think voice-controlled apps) available, though only the Plus can truly double up as a bridge for your smart home devices – while all Echo products can talk to things like smart bulbs and thermostats, it’s only the Plus that lets you do away with individual hubs for each additional gadget family. All the Amazon Echo smart speakers have a certain sense of style about them, as you can see from the pictures above – especially after the most recent 2018 refresh, with all that fabric and all those curves. For more details on each Amazon Echo device, check out the full reviews below: Amazon Echo reviewAmazon Echo Plus reviewAmazon Echo Dot reviewAmazon Echo Spot reviewAmazon Echo Show reviewAmazon Echo Show 5: everything you need to knowGoogle Home: each model comparedGoogle's smart speaker range is a little smaller than Amazon's, with four Google Home speakers to choose from, including the recently unveiled Google Home Hub – the only one of the range to feature a screen. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/fRtkY4M5UqEoiDVvXsq4Qd.jpg The Google Home Mini The smallest of the three is the Google Home Mini speaker. Like the Echo Dot, the speaker is puck shaped, if a little more pebble-like with softer edges, and has a top side covered in a fabric speaker mesh. You can pick up the Google Home Mini in a range of colors, with four flashing LED lights illustrating when it's listening to your commands and showing the volume level. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/acKySqa5piHKF9g6feVE3j.jpg The Google Home In the middle of the range taking on the Amazon Echo devices is the standard Google Home speaker, which looks considerably different to the Mini. It has the appearance of a small vase, with a two-tone color design (multiple shades are available here too) and a sloping top side that houses a touch control panel. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/59XdqLN2A3Pj7dDkmj6H6n.jpg The Google Home Max The Google Home Max, meanwhile, looks much more like a traditional loudspeaker, and is the largest of the bunch – it doesn't really have an equivalent Amazon Echo device either. It's boxy in design, closer aesthetically to the Google Home Mini (with the mesh speaker covering), and can stand in either a portrait or landscape orientation to suit the space you've got. While the vanilla Google Home is an acquired taste in terms of design, both the Mini and Max are subtly attractive, and should fit into any surroundings without much concern. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/fiwd7Hbk9bcRc2vGVYH9rc.jpg Google Home Hub There's also the Google Home Hub, unveiled in October 2018, which takes on the Amazon Echo Show directly. It can show videos, the weather, recipes, music artwork and so much more, but it doesn't have a camera – so video calling is out of the question. Most recently, Google released the Nest Hub Max, putting Google Assistant in a 10-inch smart display. It's the first product to come out under the converged brand name of Google and smart home security brand Nest. Like a larger version of the Google Home Hub, the Nest Hub Max is big-screen smart display for your home, with a front-facing camera for video calls and the facility to check on your home remotely. It's not out yet, but we're told the release date is set for July 15 in both the US and UK, while Australians should be able to get it "this winter" (between July and August 2019) according to Google. To find out more about each version of the Google Home, check out the full reviews below: Google Home reviewGoogle Home Max reviewGoogle Home Mini reviewGoogle Home Hub reviewHands on: Google Nest Hub Max reviewKeep in mind that, with both Alexa and Google Assistant, third-party speaker manufacturers are increasingly choosing to integrate the voice helpers into their own products. So, if there's an audio manufacturer you're particularly fond of, it may be worth holding out to see if it has any plans to join either of the smart ecosystems – at this point, it's highly likely that most all audio devices in the near future will come equipped with some sort of microphone and voice control system. Amazon Echo vs Google Home: smart featuresThe smart features of the Google Home and Amazon Echo lines are broadly similar – speak to them, and you’ll be able to do anything from playing back music, having general knowledge questions answered, controlling smart home gear, and setting alarms and timers... and that's just scratching the surface of the Amazon Echo vs Google Home debate. Both Google and Amazon are committed, long term, to improving their respective voice platforms, and each has done a good job so far of enticing third-party smart device manufacturers – from thermostat makers to smart lighting companies – to make their products compatible with each service. With a base level of commands available to each, with either a "hey Google" or "hey Alexa" wake command, control of the digital world is just a vibration of your vocal chords away. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/gJZQ5cgPuPiDmD5AE35CdF.jpg The Amazon Echo Plus Amazon Echo and Google Home speakers do take a slightly different approach to the way their abilities are accessed. Google Home's abilities are, by default, accessible to all – barring pairing up third-party smart home devices with your Google Home system, if you've made a request that the Google ecosystem can understand, it'l carry out the required response unprompted. Alexa, on the other hand, relies on the installation of skills – individual, app-like sets of related voice commands focussing on certain topics or abilities. Handled and activated through the Alexa app on smartphones, these can range from getting information on local transport times, or to activating voice-controlled games. There's no right or wrong approach really – Google's is simpler, but Alexa's encourages faster and broader development and support from third-parties. Amazon Echo vs Google Home: audioAs you'd expect from such a wildly varying range of shapes and sizes, you get very different sound performance across both ecosystems, let alone when comparing Amazon Echo against Google Home in general. Here's a broad breakdown of how they sound in relation to each other. If you can only afford the entry-level devices, and music remains a top priority for you, go for the Google Home Mini, which sounds a lot better than the Echo Dot. Unless you hook up a Dot to another speaker over Bluetooth or the 3.5mm jack, it's just too thin and harsh to fully enjoy. If you're looking for a small Echo speaker, your best best then is the Echo Spot, which despite its size offers a richer sound. The screen, however, massively increases its expense, so bear that in mind. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/p2Riax5k2EsxYUSqj5Arq7.jpg The Google Home Max As you move up the size scale, the Google Home is too bass-heavy to be truly enjoyable. It also has worse clarity than the latest generation of the Amazon Echo speaker and the Echo Plus. So, if you're limited to around $100/£100, the Amazon Echo may be the best choice from an audio perspective. With a slight premium in price, and the inclusion of Dolby processing, the Echo Plus sound is more dynamic than the standard Echo, as you'd hope. And, despite its looks, the Echo Show sounds better than the Echo Plus and Echo, though not so dramatically as to forgive it some of its other failings. If you're going for pure sonic superiority between the Echo and Google Home ranges however, opt for the Google Home Max. Its bass is well tuned, its mids and highs well defined, and its top volume levels loud without verging into highly distorted territory. Amazon Echo vs Google Home: priceThere's such a range of prices across the two speaker platforms that, in fairness, there’s something for every wallet size when it comes to the question of Amazon Echo vs Google Home. It's more about what you’re expecting to get from your smart speaker of choice: Amazon, offering the widest spread of options, hits both the most affordable and expensive price points between the two brands, with the Echo Dot at the lower end and the screen-packing Echo Show at the top. Google, on the other hand, sits somewhere in the middle. You can compare the latest pricing between the ranges below. Amazon Echo vs Google Home: verdictThere's no easy answer to the question of whether you should go for Amazon Echo or Google Home as your smart speakers of choice. Both lines are very accomplished and, so long as you temper your expectations in line with the amount of money you're going to spend on buying into one of the lines, all sound good enough for their respective price points. The choice really then comes down to the preference of ecosystem as opposed to the hardware. Are you heavily invested in Google's services? Then Google Home is probably for you, as the two areas are only going to become ever-more-closely linked. Google's natural language understanding is superior too, even if its voice implementation still needs some refinement. However, in terms of sheer value for money and the already vast reach of its collaborations and abilities, Amazon's Alexa devices seem the more sensible bet at this stage. It’s a close run race, with Google's powerful search capabilities potentially seeing it through in the long run. But there’s something to be said for Amazon’s more focussed approach – from our experience so far, Alexa currently feels like the more reliable assistant. But that could change. Either way, place your bets – you're unlikely to come away disappointed whether you opt for an Amazon Echo or a Google Home smart speaker. Torguard has filed a complaint against rival VPN provider NordVPN in the Middle District of Florida on Friday 24th. The papers filed allege that NordVPN has been guilty of a number of extremely serious malpractices. These allegations include a successful Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) on Black Friday, wrongfully obtaining and using TorGuard’s confidential and trade secret business information to blackmail the company and coercing a third party into silence. The accusations hinge on the purported ownership of control that Panama-based NordVPN has over a Canadian web hosting company called c-Seven Media Inc. These are the best antivirus solutions out there Check out the best free password managers We have also rounded up the best free VPN providers NordVPN issues explanationWe reached out to NordVPN to get their comments regarding the lawsuit. A spokesperson for NordVPN provided us with the following statement which is published verbatim below. “All accusations are entirely made up. TorGuard (although probably by mistake) even filed a lawsuit against some Canadian web design company which we never heard about. We received information that led us to finding TorGuard server configuration file available on the internet. We then noticed that one of their servers was left completely unprotected and publicly accessible for anyone. It contained private keys, scripts, and a number of other extremely sensitive information, which if misused, could have caused Torguard and their customers some serious harm. We disclosed the vulnerability to them with the best intentions. It is a normal practice and just the right thing to do, but they decided to file a lawsuit for blackmail. We didn't even want to make it public. We are very much looking forward to the following process. Also, now we have no choice but to take countermeasures.“ A blog on the NordVPN website goes into further details regarding Torguard’s accusations. Not surprisingly both parties provide entirely different sides of the story. The only thing that they do agree on is that there has been contact between the two companies but from there, their scenarios diverge. The countdown is nearly at zero for the 2019 UEFA Europa League final. Football's cross-London rivalry between Chelsea and Arsenal has arrived in Azerbaijan for today's It's a match that means a massive amount to these clubs, their supporters and ther managers and in this guide will tell you how you can watch every minute of the game with a Chelsea vs Arsenal live stream from absolutely anywhere in the world. While it's true that more of the football world's attention turns to the Champions League final to be played on the following Saturday, Europe's second competition should not be taken lightly. As well as that frankly gorgeous trophy, the prize at stake is a place in next year's Champions League. That's a huge incentive for Arsenal, who failed to make the top four in this year's Premier League. So a win in Baku for Unai Emery's men would salvage an otherwise flat first season in charge. It hasn't been completely devoid of positives - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal tally and connection with Alexandre Lacazette bodes well for the next campaign. A few smart summer signings (with the replacement of outgoing Aaron Ramsey a priority) and the good times may start flowing again at the Emirates. Despite finishing third in the league, it's been a similarly chequered season for Chelsea and boss Maurizio Sarri. He's been fighting the revolt of fans (and, it's rumoured, some players) and now has a transfer ban and the expected departure of Eden Hazard to contend with, too. Can the fleet-footed Belgian with support from the likes of Gonzalo Higuaín and Willian make this the perfect end to the season? It's certainly a tough one to call. We're not sure which side of London will hold that Europa League trophy in their cabinet for the next year. But to make sure that you don't miss a minute of on-pitch action, we've found the ways to watch a Chelsea vs Arsenal live stream. It's good news for some, as it's being shown absolutely FREE in some parts and available in pretty much every corner of the world - even including Emirates airline flights! Prepare now to get your Tottenham vs Liverpool live stream on Saturdayhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/VgyagGS9HpAEPUQtUJBfrg.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/B9XNGCRYNHKJzN5zVfTMje.jpg Live stream the Europa League final for free in the UKHow to live stream Chelsea vs Arsenal from outside your countryThe Premier League is so big now that a Chelsea vs Arsenal encounter is going to be of interest to a whole international crowd - check out how to watch the Europa League final if you live in US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India below. While the free BT Sport Europa League final live stream is only accessible within the UK - if you're abroad for this one then you'll be told that you're not allowed to watch. That's really disappointing if you happen to be on holiday or away for business this week. That said, there is still a way to get around the geo-block - and it's really simple to do. You need to download and install a VPN, which will then allow you to alter your IP address to one in the UK. MediaTek has announced a 5G processor at Computex in Taiwan that it hopes will allow it to challenge Qualcomm’s supremacy in the premium smartphone market. The new 7nm System-on-a-Chip (SoC) is based on Arm’s Cortex-A77 CPU and Mali-G77 GPU designs and includes MediaTek’s own 5G modem and AI processing unit (APU) technology. It claims to give smartphones a significant performance boost, with theoretical support for 4.7Gbps download and 2.5Gbps speeds. MediaTek 5GApple holds modem discussions with MediaTekWhat is 5G? Everything you need to know5G: How will businesses benefit? The chip supports Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G infrastructure, but crucially, it only supports sub-6GHz spectrum. While the first European 5G networks, including those in the UK, will use these frequencies, Verizon and AT&T are among those using much higher millimetre-wave (mmWave) bandwidth. This could limit its appeal in some markets. However, MediaTek is confident that the platform will gain traction and expects the first commercial devices to be powered by the chip in the first quarter of 2020. “Everything about this chip is designed for the first wave of flagship 5G devices. The leading-edge technology in this chipset makes it the most powerful 5G SoC announced to date and puts MediaTek at the forefront of 5G SoC design,” said MediaTek President Joe Chen. “MediaTek will power rollouts of 5G premium level devices.” Qualcomm technology – whether its modems or processors - power the overwhelming majority of flagship smartphones, while Samsung and Huawei are working on their own components. This has left MediaTek to compete for business in the mid-range segments of the smartphone market and for other areas of electronics, such as connected speakers. It was revealed during the now-concluded legal battle between Apple and Qualcomm that the former had held discussions with MediaTek over a possible modem supply but these did not amount to anything. What are the main challenges to the rollout of 5G in the UK today? There are many challenges to the rollout of 5G in the UK, both Technical, Financial and Political. Consumer demand for data and UK Plc’s ambitions for coverage against a backdrop of falling ARPU at the MNO level makes investment decisions critical, the cost of spectrum and the conditions attached play an important role in creating the environment for encouraging the deployment of infrastructure, particularly in the rural areas which may not have a viable commercial business case to support the investment by the operator. Access to the spectrum and property assets are a challenge. Recent efforts to legislate on the latter to give greater certainty to time and costs of deployment in the short term have had the opposite effect. How best to enable the use of both private investment capital and targeted public funds to relieve some of the burden from the MNO’s should be reviewed to create the conditions necessary to support the large-scale investment required for the widespread deployment of 5G. From a technical and practical perspective, the complexity of the site, size of antenna, compliment of equipment, and the existing and surrounding infrastructure etc has a significant bearing on the actual site solution, in the case of 5G this could be as an addition to an existing site or a brand new site. Early and consistent engagement with landlords by experts with knowledge of the market and locality as well as end to end process will be key, eg designing sites with the optimum planning and deployment solution, and managing all stakeholders from inception through to integration in to the network. What was the origin of your partnership with Huawei?WHP has been in the wireless infrastructure market in the UK since 1988, working with operators to deploy and upgrade their networks. Over the last ten years Huawei’s growth as an equipment vendor has been prolific, as Huawei became more embedded in the UK and demand was growing for their services they were looking for high quality companies who could partner with them and provide multiple services in volume to support their growth as they replaced legacy equipment and deployed 4G. WHP with a wealth of experience with MNO’s had recently undergone an MBO and had implemented a strategic growth plan which included supplying end to end services to an increased customer base. This naturally led to our initial discussions from which we found that we shared some similar attitudes around not only growth and ambition but willingness to challenge norms, innovation and to improve efficiency and quality, so it was really those shared values, ambitions and good timing which enabled us to embark on that journey for both WHP & Huawei. How does the infrastructure for 5G need to be different to that required for previous iterations of mobile networks?5G will see the first truly multi-layered networks requiring a more variable site solution than in previous iterations, as well as a larger compliment of equipment on each site. The macro layer needs to be quite seriously upgraded and densified. This needs to be augmented with a layer of small cells to add capacity and fluidity. In-building also will come in to its own as venues, locations and office complexes will compete and differentiate on connectivity. Each site will require robust physical engineering and potentially more specialist / bespoke solutions. In recent times physical assets have become smaller and implementation more nimble, however, the new technologies have equipment that is heavier e.g. MIMO antenna and this means more robust engineering and structures needed. Complex design. Each and every site has a complex design these days either through location to achieve coverage of a specific area or due to the type of installation e.g. multiple operators, multiple technologies and as a consequence each site needs more design input sign-off, interfacing checking etc. What are the likely costs associated with upgraded infrastructure to prepare for 5G?The costs will be significant as upgrading the infrastructure in some cases will be more expensive than the original site due to swapping towers for more heavy duty infrastructure to cope with the new additional equipment. The restrictions imposed on putting this in place in terms of network downtime whilst working on a live network also make it much more difficult than building new infrastructure from scratch for instance. The key to success and minimising costs is dimensioning early and giving stakeholders visibility of a stable programme. This allows a stable high quality resources deployed in a planned manner with efficient utilisation, minimising downtime and abortive effort. How long do you think it will take for us to really reap the benefits of 5G?We would anticipate 5G will take 7-10 years to build out fully, however with 5G capable handsets shipping this year and 5G network roll out underway we will see some initial benefits much sooner, the clamour for self driving or autonomous vehicles and smart motorways would suggest that consumers will be able to access some of that functionality in certain areas within the next two years. The use of social media and apps will drive the take up in usage and real time critical applications once the network is established in the main urban areas. Within 5 years we would expect tO see major benefits as the mobile experience converges with the widespread FTTP network and users are able to utilise contiguous connectivity. What will be the biggest change that 5G will bring about?Everything and everyone connected in real time all the time. We envisage the network revolution / evolution will enable the whole future of technologies to be fulfilled. For example, the ground breaking initiatives are: 5G will enable individuals, businesses and communities, it will be a pre-requisite for social inclusion going forwards and transform the way we interact. How would you describe the relationship with Huawei, and what does each side bring to it?Our relationship with Huawei has developed since 2014 and it has been a challenging and successful period for both company’s. Overall it has been a good experience, we value our relationship and what we have achieved together, we share similar values and ambition and are positioned to have more mutual success in the future. We see Huawei bringing world class expert technology, innovation, drive, support and boundless energy to the programmes. We believe WHP brings deep knowledge and expertise in our service area, experience, broad resources, can-do attitude, high ethics, unrivalled experience, challenge, innovation, value and commercial fairness. What benefits will 5G bring to business – do you have any use cases you could share? There are many benefits that businesses will gain from the greater and faster connectivity facilitated by 5G, that could include realtime monitoring of exercise / calorie intake from an interactive personal training plan at the simple end. To a real time monitoring and intervention situation for intensive care at critical times enabling the efficiency of expert care coupled with AI across a wider number of people than is currently possible. In general communication and therefore information and action will be able to be delivered quicker, interactively and in a mobile environment, it is difficult to think of a business that would not benefit from this capability. One of the main design changes on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 could be the cameras, with the latest leak suggesting that the rear snappers will move from a horizontal to a vertical arrangement. That claim is based on images found on Weibo (a Chinese social network) and shared by @UniverseIce (a reputable leaker), showing a sketch of a horizontal triple-lens camera block, and another of the camera positioned on the rear of a phone. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 oddly isn’t mentioned by name, but @UniverseIce does include a picture of Leonardo da Vinci, and as ‘da Vinci’ is believed to be the phone’s code name this is almost certainly talking about the Note 10. The iPhone 11 is also landing later this yearWe're already dreaming of the Galaxy S11The Note 10 could join the ranks of 5G phonesThe image showing the rear of the phone also doesn’t show a fingerprint scanner. Now, it lacks detail, so this might just not have been included in the sketch, but it could well mean that the scanner will be built into the screen instead. That’s a change we’d expect, given that the Samsung Galaxy S10 range has that. We’d take the camera changes shown here with a pinch of salt, especially since both the Galaxy Note 9 and the S10 range have horizontally aligned lenses, but this isn’t the first time we’ve heard that they could be vertical on the Note 10. And that’s not the only likely camera change. It’s also likely that the phone will have a punch-hole selfie camera along the lines of the Galaxy S10 range. But oddly it might just have a single-lens one according to another tweet from @UniverseIce, even though the Galaxy S10 Plus has a dual-lens one. We’ll probably find out for sure in August, as that’s when Samsung is likely to launch the Note 10. As a general rule, the more exotic the lens the pricier it gets, and so the greater the scope for third parties to undercut the big players with affordable alternatives. The Kipon 14mm f/2.8 appears to be the latest addition to this category. The company states on its website that it's designed for APS-C-format bodies, although the only confirmed fitting so far is for Fujifilm's X mount. The lens offers an effective focal length of 18mm when used with compatible Fujifilm bodies like the Fujifilm X-T30 and X-T3, and its wide maximum aperture of f/2.8 should give it enough appeal for handheld applications, such as street and documentary photography. It can have its aperture stopped down to f/22 for those who need maximum depth of field, although the minimum focusing distance is unclear, as the product page states that it can focus down to both 10cm and 15cm away from the subject. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/UEchTkNi6YoSuePQfgWqmC.jpg Image credit: Kipon Few other details have been made available as yet, but it appears the lens won't arrive with its own focusing motor, meaning focus will be limited to manual-only operation. The barrel looks to be crafted from metal, and has both a manual aperture ring and a thread around its front for conventional screw-in filters. It's not clear whether the lens will arrive in fittings for other APS-C cameras, such as Sony's E-mount models like the A6400 or Canon's EOS M series offerings like the EOS M50, although it looks set to be available from September. Pricing hasn't been disclosed yet either, although it will no doubt be more affordable than autofocus-enabled offerings. With 50 million tons of electronic waste generated each year, and much of that not recycled, it's little wonder that tech brands and consumers alike are growing increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of their gadgets. But one Finnish design company may have found the solution. Researchers at Aivan have created a prototype pair of headphones made entirely from fungus and other biodegradable materials. Read our roundup of the best headphonesThe best over-ear headphonesLooking for something more techy? Check out the best wireless headphonesAccording to Engadget, the Korvaa headphones feature a headband that's "3D-printed with bioplastic made from yeast-produced lactic acid", while the padding on the earcups is made from, "a foaming protein produced by fungus, and plant cellulose", one of a group of proteins known as hydrophobins. Also made from fungus is the faux-leather finish on the earcups, while the mesh over the speakers is derived from a "biosynthetic spider silk produced by microbes". http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/QE6EERr9pUEPaGHawnfTLY.jpg Image credit: Aivan A growing trendPresented at the SingularityU Nordic summit in Helsinki, the headphones are, for now, just a prototype, and they don't contain any of the necessary electronic components to enable them to transmit audio. So, while we can't expect mold-made headphones to flood the market anytime soon, these fungal cans do demonstrate what may be possible in the near future. Plus, environmentally-friendly audio tech is already growing in popularity. With big tech companies like Apple pledging to use recycled materials in their manufacturing process, it feels as though the tech world is starting to take the environment seriously. Does that mean the upcoming Apple AirPods 2 will be made from fungus? Probably not, but we have seen other brands using unconventional materials in their manufacturing process already. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/MfSAiRrHJmnoUgmhSQ8K76.jpg The Tri-Art Audio S-Series TA-0.5 turntable (Image credit: TechRadar) At the Bristol Hi-Fi Show earlier this year, we saw the Tri-Art Audio S-Series TA-0.5 turntable, which is made from bamboo soaked in hemp and bees wax. Tri-Art says its use of the material isn't just eco-friendly, but it also makes your records sound great, explaining on its website that bamboo is "very stiff, for excellent rigidity with the ability to dampen vibration". Elsewhere, CES 2019 saw House of Marley launch its first smart speaker, which is also made out of natural and recycled materials. In 2017, the value per Bitcoin reached over €20,000 (£17,324) - a climax in the hype surrounding the cryptocurrency. However, confidence has been lacking for the price to remain stable. To date, online currencies are more speculation than real means of payment as concerns around security are being raised. An establishment is only possible if users believe in the value’s sustainability, and this applies to every means of payment. In no industry is the subjective perception of security as important as in the field of finance. Both private users and large customers are increasingly handling transactions online, so the fear of digital innovation isn’t what stop them from adopting this type of currency. It’s security they really care about, or rather their data’s security. The financial sector has acknowledged this and, must above all focus on security to appease the apprehensions some might have. Blockchain is considered safe to this day, yet speculation is causing such great uncertainty that cryptocurrencies have not yet developed into serious competition for established currencies. IT decision-makers should therefore always keep in mind the importance of the users' sense of security in their industry. As part of their digital transformation, many financial organisations have implemented several security tools and also have their own security teams. Kaspersky launches free CyberTrace threat intelligence toolKeeping ahead of the curve: understanding threat intelligencePermission to intrude: hiring hackers to bolster cyber defencesThese are necessary to comply with legal requirements. After all, almost all other sectors depend on the financial sector. Of course, it is also about the security of customers and partners’ data. Therefore, it is not surprising that this industry has taken a pioneering role over the years. While some organisations already have their own Security Operations Centres (SOCs) to respond to potential threats and identify Indicators of Compromise (IoCs), they should think about other ways to optimise their organisation’s cybersecurity. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/bVn8x8PNJcBejBZdnxJWyY.jpg Image credit: Shutterstock From information to intelligenceThe SANS Institute recently investigated the latest developments in security and revealed that companies are increasingly taking advantage of Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI). The findings show a development that goes beyond the expertise of IOC and gives a new perspective of Threat Intelligence. It is well known that public sources such as the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), security vendors and open source communities publish reports and threat feeds on current threats. At the same time, security tools such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) or firewalls also collect information that can be used to combat threats and create a situational picture. In addition, there are industry-specific Information Sharing and Analysis Centres (ISACs) that organisations can participate in. The number and quality of both information sources and IoCs continues to grow and is currently the most important resource for an effective cyber-defence. However, the trend is moving towards Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), meaning a better understanding of how the attackers want to penetrate victims' networks. Instead of focusing only on the evidence of attacks, IT teams should work to stay one step ahead of the criminals by anticipating their next steps: leveraging cyber threat intelligence. Thus, it is necessary to step away from the manual evaluation of individual fragments to the building of strategic knowledge about the danger landscape and the extent of the threats for the own systems. Without support, the analysis of IoCs is extremely time-consuming. Indeed, IT teams in the financial sector can sometimes find themselves having to compare and check data from different sources manually. In this situation, there’s no agreement on the activities between the individual teams, the work become inefficient and information silos start to emerge. At the same time the number of attacks continues to increase, and the growing networking infrastructures are also more complex. When IT departments do not have an overview of their own security situation, there is no basis for creating trust - the basic but crucial quality that we mentioned earlier. CTI works at this point: SANS notes that after deploying an appropriate platform, 81 percent see their defence and detection capabilities as improved. It involves partial or complete automation to turn the available information into actionable intelligence and use it in your own organisation. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/NLTVNcPgigYaYdYR3znnPg.jpg Image credit: Pixabay Building your own threat library in practiceIt takes a variety of tools and processes to set up your own cyber threat intelligence platform. However, most financial companies already have the most important components for implementation. Often internal data sources already exist: SIEM solutions or threat information from security providers whose solution is used (IDS, Firewall, End Point Security). As mentioned, government agencies and open source offerings also have reports and analysis. In addition, information from industry associations and their own analyses of network traffic can be incorporated. The challenging final step is building a cross-platform. The SANS speaks of a collection management platform (CMF), which is characterised mainly by building a local threat database, in which all data from external and internal sources are stored in a central location. In addition, information should then be automatically aggregated, normalised and de-duplicated, as well as relevance and priority for the own company be checked by means of a scoring system. The Threat Library serves as a "single source of truth" for all teams and systems within a company. In terms of personnel, there are many departments that should be considered: in addition to SOCs and incident response teams, IT operations and security teams can also coordinate their actions with one another via a CTI platform. Of course, the departments are very differently positioned, especially in the financial area. This is why there are also own teams for compliance and audits, but also for the management of vulnerabilities. Moreover, service providers also took on such tasks. Depending on the size and budget of an organisation, service providers play an important role. However, SANS experts are increasingly recommending partnerships and cooperation rather than considering outsourcing altogether. Proper management of the threat situation is essential, since the cyber threats are already an integral part of everyday life in the area of finance, and organisations must prepare themselves for further attacks. The question then arises as to whether and how strongly your own company is affected. Understanding the treat situationThe Threat Intelligence Platform figures speak for themselves: survey respondents recognise the greatest benefits in improving their security operations, threat detection and attacks, and blocking. Coordinating the use of CTI proved to be of particular value to 90 percent of users stating that it has improved the visibility of threats in their own network environment. Additionally, in almost all cases, the accuracy and speed of eliminating noise improved. These are all areas that directly affect the user experience. Banking and payment in the digital world are particularly dependent on customers' trust and subjective sense of security. Therefore, players in the industry need to have a clear understanding of the overall threat situation and their individual threat situation in order to respond properly at all times. Huawei has called for a speedy end to the conflict between itself and the US government. The firm's legal chief has said adding Huawei to a blocked "entity list" sets a "dangerous precedent", with other companies now potentially at risk of similar bans if they upset the US. Speaking at a press conference in Shenzhen, Song Liuping, Huawei's chief legal officer, said that blacklisting its equipment would have a hugely damaging effect on the wider technology industry as a whole, with billions of consumers around the world potentially affected. "This decision threatens to harm our customers in over 170 countries, including more than three billion consumers who use Huawei products and services around the world," he noted. "By preventing American companies from doing business with Huawei, the government will directly harm more than 1,200 US companies. This will affect tens of thousands of American jobs." Foreign VPN providers could come under fire after Huawei US banHuawei ban: the global fallout explainedHuawei security slammed by UK government reportBlockedHuawei has been under a US embargo for several months now following fears that its technology could be used to help Chinese state surveillance - a claim it strenuously denies. The two bodies have been engaged in a war of words for several months as the Trump administration looks to crack down on the Chinese firm - with Huawei blocked from US government agency use under the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act earlier this year. Huawei filed a lawsuit against this block back in March, questioning the constitutionality of the law, and is now hoping the case can be thrown out in order to avoid a lengthy trial. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vHdvWTgFUsVq7r73rVPPh6.jpg (Image credit: Shutterstock) Song added that using cybersecurity as an excuse to blacklist Huawei would have no effect on global safety, instead just offering a "false sense of security." "Politicians in the U.S. are using the strength of an entire nation to come after a private company," Song said. "They are using every tool they have, including legislative, administrative, and diplomatic channels. They want to put us out of business. This is not normal. Almost never seen in history. "The U.S. government has provided no evidence to show that Huawei is a security threat. There is no gun, no smoke. Only speculation." "Today it's telecoms and Huawei. So far, so good for most of the favorites at the 2019 French Open tennis at Roland-Garros. So far, the seeds have generally been safe and you can enjoy every swipe, swing and smash using a 2019 French Open live stream from anywhere you are, using this very guide. Reigning men's champion Rafael Nadal is known for his dominance on clay courts. That's probably why he has managed to secure the record for most French Open titles claimed, ever. If he wins the 2019 French Open that will be a mind-blowing twelfth title. But there could be a rusty spanner in the works for Nadal, namely veteran champion Roger Federer who is returning to the French Open for the first time since 2015 and has begun well. A slightly more sprightly Novak Djokovic is also aiming for victory and shouldn't be taken lightly having won here himself three years ago. On the women's side of the event, it's favourite and clay court specialist Romanian Simona Halep who wants to grab the championship title once again, having won the 2018 French Open. She was world number one until this January when Naomi Osaka nabbed that honour. Kiki Bertens and Serena Williams follow in the order as favorites for this year leaving a superb line-up for what should be a spectacular tournament. Sounds like we're in for a fantastic selection of tennis action. And here's how you can live stream all the French Open 2019 tennis excitement from wherever you are in the world. If you can’t justify upgrading to a OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro you won’t necessarily have to miss out on all their new features, as OnePlus has revealed that a large number of them are coming to the OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5. All of these phones are set to get Zen Mode – a feature which stops you using the phone for anything other than phone calls and photos for 20 minutes. They’re also all going to get Screen Recorder, so you can capture whatever’s happening on your phone’s screen. FNATIC Mode is in the pipeline for all of these handsets too. Finally, there’s DC dimming, which is designed to reduce screen flickering at lower brightness. However, initially OnePlus plans to launch this feature in an open beta for the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6, before evaluating if and when the OnePlus 5T/5 will get it. There’s no exact date for when these features will arrive, but OnePlus says they’ll start coming in the “near future”, so you might not have to wait long. In fact, Zen Mode and Screen Recorder are already available in open beta for the OnePlus 6 and 6T, so those will probably be the first finished updates. You can also already get unofficial versions of those two features on certain OnePlus phones, but for most people we’d suggest waiting for the official, finished release. Update [29/5]: Following earlier rumors of an S1S model and a teaser campaign from Panasonic, it seems the new camera may now be called the Panasonic S1H – at least according to L Mount rumors. There are mounting rumors of a video-focused S-series camera from Panasonic, possibly called the Panasonic S1H, and we may get confirmation as early as this week. L-mount Rumors, which comments on news and speculation on all things L-mount, claims that a highly reliable source has informed the site that Panasonic will "definitely" be announcing a new L-mount camera on May 31, something its recent teaser campaign appeared to confirm. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/wKtGcPuctyYUnQkXz8t7qC.jpg The company currently offers the S1R (left) and S1 (right) in its new S line of cameras, along with three lenses. Image credit: Panasonic The site goes on to state that the camera has a full-frame sensor, like the existing two S-series models, and that it's built like a tank (also very much like those two models). A more recent update stated that the model will record 6K24p video and 4K60p video, the former not currently available across Panasonic's G-series and S-series models. Other specs include 10bit 4:2:2 footage captured internally to 30p, together with 60p output through the HDMI port and Log shooting. The body is also apparently slightly larger than the S1 and S1R to provide better heat dissipation. Best mirrorless camera 2019: 10 top models to suit every budgetRead our in-depth Panasonic S1R reviewFind out what 10 things to look out for on your next mirrorless cameraSuch a move would mirror the company's Micro Four Thirds G-series line, in that it built the foundations with stills-focused cameras before branching out into more video-focused GH offerings. As we found in our reviews of the S1 and S1R models, both capture high-quality 4K video footage, but they remain behind models like the GH5 and GH5S in terms of overall video functionality. What we expect to seeAssuming the model will offer 6K rather than 8K video, the sensor inside the new model is likely to have a lower resolution than the 47MP sensor inside the S1R. Should the model record 8K footage, however, it will need to have a sensor closer to 36MP. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/WdoqJf6Dy7ntvARn84hwb6.jpg The sensor inside the S1R offers 47.3MP (effective) – the highest yet for a full-frame mirrorless camera – although the new model is likely to have a less densely populated sensor. Image credit: Panasonic Neither the S1 nor the S1R have Log shooting as standard, this being an optional paid-for update. This was the same approach as the previous video-centric GH5, so it wouldn't be safe to assume Panasonic would include this here – although this is what the rumors suggest. Of course, nothing has been confirmed from Panasonic as of yet, and it may well turn out to be something other than a new camera. Some have speculated it may simply be a video-centric lens or firmware update to an exciting GH model, although a GH6 update to the GHS5 / GHS5 camera would certainly be very welcome too. The nature of refunds on digital marketplaces has been an ongoing area of contention for some time now, as their global availability has lead them to, on occasion, come up against the local law of certain countries. Today, Sony has been accused by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) of breaching the country’s laws by offering its PlayStation Store customers misleading information regarding refunds. Valve has copped a $3 million fine for breaching Australia’s consumer lawsHere’s Valve’s official statement after its Australian refund-rights lossSpecifically, Australian Consumer Law dictates that “consumers have the right to a refund, repair or replacement if a product is faulty because it is not of acceptable quality, is not fit for purpose or does not match descriptions made by the businesses, depending on the seriousness of the fault”. Sony, however, allegedly told its Australian PlayStation Store customers that wanted a refund for a faulty game in late 2017 that it didn’t have to offer a refund for games that had been downloaded, or for digital products that had been purchased more than 14 days ago. Furthermore, the tech giant apparently told its customers that no refund would be issued unless the game developer themselves told the individual consumer the game was faulty, and that refunds could only be given in PlayStation Store credit rather than money (another breach of Australian Consumer Law). PlayStation ditches download codes at physical storesPlayStation Now reviewSony isn’t the first to be faced with potential penalties due to Australia’s tough consumer laws. The ACCC fined Valve AU$3 million in April, 2018 for almost exactly the same issue in relation to its Steam marketplace, the popular PC gaming storefront. The Steam lawsuit took roughly four years of legal battle – from initial accusations to the fine being handed out – and, at the time, was viewed as a significant precedent in the success of local consumer laws over internationally sold goods and services. It’s unlikely that Sony’s case will be resolved much more swiftly than that of Valve’s, but given the precedent, the process may at least be somewhat sped up. Fujifilm’s mantra of “never stop” is being reflected by a tweet the Japanese manufacturer's Instax team posted just days after the launch of the GFX 100. The tweet teases the announcement of a brand-new instant camera on June 12. No details of the camera have been officially released bar one – the upcoming Instax will feature an LCD screen, making it “perfect for the new age”, according to Fujifilm. The company claims that this instant camera will usher in a “new era” of Instax snappers that boast “very special features”. Exactly what those features are is as yet unknown, but rumors of an Instax Mini LiPlay have been unearthed. Canon adds two new Zoemini instant cameras to its line-upShould you buy an Instax Mini camera?Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 reviewLet’s LiPlayIn April, Nokishita leaked the manual of a camera called the Instax Mini LiPlay. It showed off a hybrid instant camera with printing capabilities and an integrated rear LCD display. According to the manual, photos taken on the Mini LiPlay get saved to the camera’s internal memory or on a microSD card. These can then be selected for printing on the LiPlay on Instax Mini instant film. This wouldn’t be the first time an Instax camera boasts live view – the Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 and the Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic have a small built-in screens. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3KQKSUtDdBMr6G7VTHdKFA.png Image: Fujifilm [via Nokishita] To stand apart from the crowd, the LiPlay’s manual reveals that it has the ability to record audio via a dedicated Sound button located on the front of the camera. The audio clip is converted into a QR code which is printed onto the photo. The audio can then be played when the code is scanned using the associated LiPlay smartphone app (which is currently not available on either Apple’s App Store on the Google Play Store). The LiPlay app, according to the leaked manual, can also be used to trigger the shutter remotely or make minor edits to the image prior to printing. Images reveal that the LiPlay has three shortcut buttons on the left edge of the camera that allow users to choose a frame for the images, but a neat trick up the camera’s sleeve is the ability to assign custom templates to these buttons. If these features are real, it would make the upcoming Instax a truly innovative instant camera and we can’t wait to see what the big reveal will bring on June 12. Whether you're looking for a fun camera for the family or want to try something a little different, there's a wide choice of instant cameras out there. Here's our pick of the best models you can buy right now. Digital cameras have killed analogue photography off right? Well, that may the case in most areas, but analogue is fighting back with instant cameras. Whether it’s nostalgia creeping back or the unique aesthetic they provide, instant cameras and their distinct prints are seeing a huge renaissance - even with the dominance of the smartphone, you can’t beat having a print in your hand. So, whether you’re looking for a fun instant camera to bring out at parties, or wanting to get a bit more creative with your photography, then you’ll want one of these cracking instant cameras. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg Best instant cameras in 2019http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xfG7M2yMk5EptYcmXTrfUF.jpg If you're looking for a cheap and easy to use instant camera, you're not going to go that wrong with the Instax Mini 9 from Fujifilm. It may lack the more sophisticated controls that pricier models enjoy, but that's half its charm. With little input required to produce decent credit card-sized instant prints, anyone in can use it. Great fun at parties, the little mirror on the front of the camera means it's easy to get an instant selfie. Little wonder its one of the best-selling cameras available right now Read more: Should I buy a Fujifilm Instax Minihttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/DtF2sJ5u7i3remNRsrn9h7.jpg A little more advanced than the Instax Mini 9, the Instax Mini 70 offers a few more features, but is still a cost-effective way to get into instant photography. The only thing you need to be careful of is that you don’t obscure the flash with your finger when you’re taking shots vertically. Everything else is taken care of – focusing, exposure and flash are all fully automatic. The inability to control the flash manually can be a bit of an annoyance – you’d need the more expensive Instax Mini 90 for that – but you do get a selfie mode and even a tiny selfie mirror on the front. We really liked the Instax Mini 70 as a simple party accessory. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/WeUyfnNvJkzD645JK8UzdQ.jpg With the famous brand now under the ownership of the group of instant film enthusiasts who stepped in to continue producing Polaroid film once the brand collapsed, the OneStep 2 is the first camera in this new era. Embracing a retro design inspired by the original OneStep from the 1970's, the new camera is just as easy to use. Producing large, square instant prints (it uses Polaroid I-Type film), it does mean you'll be paying quite a bit more per print compared to its Instax rivals. If you're happy to pay for that luxury, then you'll love the OneStep 2. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/aRMiAQw3ggrTGXjgfhSDB6.jpg It’s chunky and solid, and although it’s made of plastic, it’s good plastic. It comes in a choice of mint, orange and white, and takes regular Fujifilm Instax Mini film packs, although Leica supplies its own film packs too, which produce a warm white frame around each picture. You compose shots using the small direct-vision viewfinder in the top left corner on the back of the camera. It’s not very big, but it’s usable enough. For an instant camera, the Sofort offers a lot of control, with Macro, Bulb, Self timer, Party & People, Sport & Action, Double Exposure and Selfie modes – in addition to fully automatic operation. You can also turn the flash on and off. The Sofort is expensive compared to the Fujifilm Instax Mini 70, despite using the same size of film. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/obRhuEPQzz4GrxazfKgem5.jpg Big hardly covers it. The Instax Wide 300 is the size of an old-fashioned medium-format rangefinder camera, even a small folding field camera. It’s because it uses instax wide film packs rather than the regular instax mini. The Instax 300 wide might look big and clumsy but it’s light, and the generous grip makes it easy to hold and use. You power up with a spring-loaded switch around the shutter release, which extends the 95mm lens. The instax wide format is much larger than a digital sensor, so this equates to a moderate wide-angle lens. For a big camera, though, the Instax Wide 300 has a tiny viewfinder. It takes practice even to get your eye lined up with the eyepiece. Otherwise, it’s simple to use and delivers very good results. Where the regular instax mini format produces small photo ‘tokens’, these are more like proper photographs. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U2SCaz5gZ2ykuoCsx2vTC6.jpg Resembling a cross between a plastic pyramid and a spaceship from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the Impossible I-1 features lights around the lens to form a ‘ring flash’ for softer portrait lighting, while it even comes with a free I-1 app for your smartphone. You can use this as a remote trigger, a noise trigger and a self-timer. The app also allows double exposures, light painting, and aperture and shutter speed adjustment – and it works as a photo scanner too. This makes the I-1 an excellent tool for experiments in instant photography, but too cumbersome for informal party shots. The shape doesn’t help – this is a bulky camera to carry around. The battery in our sample lost its power far too quickly as well: the battery was flat practically every time we went to use the camera. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/tXF6G3HVL8GFdc8nv9f4YQ.jpg Unlike the original instax SQUARE model, namely the analog/digital hybrid SQUARE SQ10, the SQ6 has a different idea in mind. Shaped like the Instagram logo and very much targeted at the kind of younger user who shares their creations on the platform, the camera runs on a pair of CR2 batteries and spits out 6.2x6.2cm prints, with the selfie mirror integrated into the front of the camera allowing for more effortless self captures. Fujifilm even throws in orange, purple and green flash filters to allow for an instant injection of colour into images, and as the body is nowhere near as cumbersome as some of the other options here, it ends up being as convenient to carry as it is fun to use. Read our in-depth Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 reviewhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/8yir84nDUREBS4iDpr2igQ.jpg Arguably one of the more handsome options here, the Automat is one of many recent cameras that began life as a Kickstarter campaign. It comes in a particularly broad range of finishes and conveniently captures images on Fujifilm’s widely available instax Mini film, but the thing that sets it apart from its contemporaries is its ability to be used with close-up, wide and fisheye lenses (that can be bought with the camera), in addition to the default optic. Further control includes unlimited multiple exposures and a bulb option, and while it’s a shame it doesn’t have a self timer this is hardly a deal-breaker. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oyYK5qmxghsTkZPPmJ3DbK.jpg 4 films to choose from1. Instax Mini The most common instant film format, producing pictures measuring just 62 x 46mm. 2. Polaroid I-Type Designed for use in the Impossible I-1and OneStep 2, I-Type film packs don’t have batteries built in. 4. Polaroid 600 Film designed for Polaroid 600-type cameras. The Apple WWDC 2019 keynote date is Monday, June 3, which is less than a week from today, and we're predicting what to expect from Apple CEO Tim Cook. In short? A lot of software updates. WWDC 2019 stands for Worldwide Developer's Conference 2019, so it typically speaks to app developers by offering first access to new tools to come immediately. It also offers iPhone and iPad consumers a first look at the company's digital offerings to come later in the year, and that's exciting, too. The hype mid-year Apple machine will begin with iOS 13 beta, which has so far only been rumored through a series of leaks. We'll also likely see macOS 10.15, watchOS 6, and tvOS 13 update for the first time at the McEnery Convention Center venue. Apple confirmed the WWDC 2019 time and date back in March, and also gave us a preview of its expanding subscription strategy on March 25 by announcing Apple Arcade and Apple TV Plus. We may finally see the Apple Arcade price and release date information that was missing two months ago. Will new hardware grace the WWDC 2019 keynote stage? The Apple event series has been hit or missing for tangible product announcements. Two years ago, we saw the HomePod and iMac Pro for the first time, as well as new iPads and MacBook Pros. Last year? No hardware whatsoever at WWDC. Apple saved the iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 12.9 for October. Ready for our Apple WWDC 2019 what to expect guide? Let's start out by explaining the date and time so you don't miss it. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vv5BihfDf2Zxgm5WtTDgJB.jpg 1. iOS 13 at Apple WWDC 2019The iOS 13 beta is poised to be the chief news story out Apple's WWDC 2019 keynote simply because it affects every iPhone and iPad user in the world. We fully expect Apple software engineering chief Craig Federighi to talk up the fact that iOS 13 is going to be faster than last year's update. To make the speed increase percentage even more Apple-dramatic, we may see Federighi cite the overall speed increase since iOS 11 (as iOS 12 offered a speed increase, too). iOS 13 is going to launch the long-rumored Dark Mode, according to the latest leaks. It'll turn your white-and-light-gray UI backgrounds into black-and-dark-gray colors that are infinitely easier on the eyes at night. Reminders, Health, iMessage, Screen Time Books, and Find My (a combination of Find My iPhone and Find My Friends) will be tweaked in iOS 13, says Bloomberg. Important for iPad users, we're allegedly going to see a native functionality using the iPad as a secondary display (akin to Duet and Luna Display), a revamped home screen design, stackable app windows for easier multi-tasking and maybe even mouse support. Apple is trying to make the iPad running iOS 13 more like a computer. We have a full list of changes, a rumored device compatibility list, the expected beta release date schedule in our iOS 13 explainer page. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/wE2Gp7xQZQW2APmjjyUEiV.png 2. macOS 10.15We loved macOS 10.14 (aka Mojave) for finally introducing system-wide Dark Mode and additional creative tools, but we haven't heard much at all about macOS 10.15 – which doesn't even have a cool nature-themed codename yet (in keeping with recent releases, it will likely reference a California biome). We don't know much about what's officially coming, but macOS 10.15 could include iOS features like Siri Shortcuts (and potentially the Shortcuts app), Screen Time, improved Apple ID management and special iMessage effects. We've also seen rumors that iTunes will be split into four different apps: Music, Books, TV, and Podcasts. There's also the possibility that macOS 10.15 enables Mac users to link up their iPads as secondary displays. On the other hand, it's also possible that we'll only see incremental improvements, as happened with the move from 10.13 Sierra to 10.14 High Sierra. If that's the case, perhaps we'll see that minimal upgrade in the name – Dry Mojave, maybe? Apple ruffled feathers when it raised minimum system requirements for macOS Mojave and locked out older machines, so we don't expect those thresholds to change this time around. To be specific: we expect anything newer than a 2015 MacBook, mid-2012 MacBook Pro, any late 2012 MacBook Air/Mac mini/iMac, late 2013 Mac Pro or 2017 iMac Pro to be able to run the next macOS. Assuming Apple runs its usual schedule, it will introduce macOS 10.15 and release it in late September. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/SVctRMtqDqag6jCKNhnSvf.jpg 3. watchOS 6We haven't heard anything about watchOS 6, but we're assuming that update will be announced at WWDC 2019 for owners of the newer Apple Watches. Perhaps it will be the long-awaited sleep tracker feature (Apple did buy sleep tracking company Beddit two years ago), though that's rumored to be coming to Apple's wearables in 2020. But sources told Bloomberg that Apple plans to sever its wearable's close dependency on iPhone by adding an App Store directly to Watch (and ergo, watchOS). This opens the door to third-party developers (finally!) but Apple reportedly also plans to toss in some basic apps that have been on iOS for years, liek Calculator, Voice Memos, and the ability to send Animoji and Memoji stickers. There will also be two new health apps: one called 'Dose' to monitor pill reminders and the other 'Cycles' to track menstrual cycles. watchOS 6 will almost certainly be compatible with the latest Apple Watch 4 and previous Apple Watch 3, while support for Apple Watch 2 is likely. We don't have high hopes for the original Apple Watch, however, as it stopped getting updates with watchOS 4. We expect Apple to follow precedent and launch a watchOS 6 beta shortly after WWDC 2019, then release a final public version in September. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/JpsKykSuiPaqo2FLi2kXrg.png 4. tvOS 13If you thought we hadn't heard much about Apple's other probable software updates, we know even less about tvOS 13, which we expect to be announced at WWDC 2019. But Apple TV devices will certainly support the company's new streaming services. Apple TV Plus will have exclusive shows from big names like Oprah, Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston and M. Night Shyamalan, and is expected to launch in later 2019. That's around when Apple Arcade is set to launch, which will have a host of games you can play across iOS, macOS and tvOS devices. At last year's WWDC, Apple mentioned very little about the then-upcoming tvOS 12, which brought Dolby Atmos overhead surround sound, Dolby Vision HDR standard and zero sign-on that auto-filled passwords from your home Wi-Fi network (for US users, at least). We don't know about any features coming with the supposed tvOS 13, but if it follows precedent, it will arrive in mid-September. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FhHbTFaK7RC3sea2PGUqZA.jpg 5. Mac Pro...and moreApple is reportedly considering introducing a new version of the Mac Pro, according to Bloomberg. While we didn't get any details of how the desktop machine might be revamped, but there's plenty to update, given the second and last generation Mac Pro came out in 2013. This fits last year's news that Apple was aiming for a 2019 release of a wholly revisioned Mac Pro, per a lengthy TechCrunch report. Gone is the 'trash can' design, as the company is allegedly considering a ground-up revision. Apple is also preparing its own brand of external monitor (going by the codename J290) that will pack HDR support, per Bloomberg. Other rumors suggest a 31.6-inch 6K screen with mini-LED backlighting, according to Pocket Lint. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/jfbXmKQr5Co
