  1. With four English teams left in this year's UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, it was pretty inevitable that a couple would meet in the last eight stage. After the draw pitted Spurs and Manchester City against one another, we began salivating. And we'll make sure that you don't miss out on a Tottenham vs Man City live stream - regardless of where in the world you are. All logic suggests Manchester City should be clear favorites entering into this Champions League football tie across the two legs. It's been a phenomenal season, with the chance of an unprecedented quadruple still on the cards as they continue to go toe-to-toe against Liverpool for the Premier League title. They've beaten Spurs the last three times the sides have met, and their attacking force that includes Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne is hard to resist. But their North London opponents have got a key new weapon in their arsenal (sorry to mention that curse word, Spurs fans) - namely the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The monumental new bowl and its state-of-the-art sound design could be an absolute game changer for the club and it will be absolutely roaring tonight. Can it provide the boost that Spurs need to take a Champions League first leg advantage up to Manchester next week. Make your predictions and settle in for what could be an unforgettable night of European football. In this guide, TechRadar will tell you everything you need to know about how to live stream Tottenham vs Man City. And you can do so from anywhere you are. 2. Huawei launched its flagship P30 Pro alongside the P30 Lite in India. The phone was first unveiled in the last week of March, where the regular P30 was also announced aside from the two. But Huawei decides to skip it for the Indian market just like last year. As the name suggests, the Huawei P30 Pro is the high-end flagship variant whereas the P30 Lite offers inferior hardware at a lower price tag. However, you will see some similarity in the design and looks of the phones. Similar to its predecessor, the P30 Pro boasts of a promising camera with a much-hyped 10X periscopic hybrid zoom. Moreover, it's quad camera setup comprises of 40MP “SuperSpectrum" sensor, a 20MP wide angle lens, an 8MP “SuperZoom” lens that allows 10X hybrid zoom and 50X digital zoom, and finally a ToF (time of flight) sensor. For the uninitiated, Hybrid Zoom is Huawei’s old camera tech that uses dual cameras to mix data from two cameras at different focal lengths in order to rebuild more details when zooming in. The P30 Pro’s SuperZoom essentially uses the periscope lens setup to offer 5X optical zoom and 10X hybrid zoom. On the display front, the P30 Pro has a 6.47-inch OLED panel with a tiny notch housing the 32MP front camera. There’s a new addition in the form of an optical in-display fingerprint sensor. This time the phone uses the acoustic display tech which uses the upper half of the screen as a loudspeaker in place of the earpiece. The Huawei P30 Pro is packed with premium features. To support these features, the phone uses Huawei’s in house Kirin 980 chipset with NPU, 8GB of RAM and optional 128GB/256GB/512GB of storage. The phone offers all the latest connectivity features, and also packs a 4200mAh battery with 40W fast charge support. Interestingly, Huawei has retained the reverse charging feature from the Mate 20 Pro on the P30 Pro. The phone comes with Android Pie with EMUI 9.1 on top. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/qaZcLHwj8psToc8CWHsSFN.jpg Image credit- TechRadar The cheaper Huawei P30 Lite comes with triple camera sensors, including a 24MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle shooter, and 2MP depth sensor. Unlike the Pro, it has a smaller 6.15-inch LCD display. The latest mid-range chipset, Kirin 710 powers it with either 4GB or 6GB RAM. The P30 Lite is more affordable, hence it misses out on a lot of P30 Pro features like in-display fingerprint sensor, acoustic display technology and reverse charging. It has a smaller 3340mAh battery with 18W fast charge. It runs on Android Pie with EMUI 9.1 skin on top. Huawei P30 Pro & Huawei P30 Lite: Price and AvailabilityThe Huawei P30 Pro will be available on Amazon.in starting April 15 at 12 AM for Prime members and April 16 at 12 AM for regular customers. Priced at INR 71,990, the device will be available in an 8GB RAM + 256 GB ROM variant. It will be available in Breathing Crystal and Aurora colors in India while the black may or may not be available at a later stage. The Huawei P30 Lite will be available on Amazon.in starting April 25 at 12 AM for Prime members and April 26 at 12 AM for regular customers. The HUAWEI P30 Lite will be available in two variants- INR 22,990 (6+128 GB variant) & INR 19990 (4+128 GB variant) and be available in two colors- Midnight black and Peacock blue. 3. Swashbuckling has come back in a big way with Rare's sandbox multiplayer pirate adventure, Sea of Thieves. Since first hitting Xbox One and PC in March 2018, the developer has been working on a host of post-launch patches and free DLC – with more staff working on the title now than in the run-up to its original release – and the seafaring title continues to attract more players by offering continual improvements and additional content to the game's community. According to Rare, within the game's first year, Sea of Thieves players collected and cashed in almost 750 million chests, skulls and items of cargo to amass a collective fortune of 642 billion gold. As an open-ended online service game, there's plenty more to come. To help you keep on top of what's new and what's coming up, we've put together this handy page which will be updated with all the latest announcements. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/fDrZGBpotK5E2MgszquHDS.jpg As we said in our full Sea of Thieves review: "Sea of Thieves is still in its early days, but I think it’s off to an extremely strong start. It’s clear that the developers are willing to listen to the players, and I expect we’ll see a great many interesting additions to the game in the coming months. "It’s worth saying, though, that the game will need these additions – your friends can only add so much variety to a Gold Hoarders' quest before everyone grows weary. As long as Rare is willing to add to this playground, I expect players will be happy to play in it. " Sea of Thieves review: check out our complete, in-depth verdict in our full reviewSea of Thieves update news and patch notesWhat's new? The Sea of Thieves Anniversary Update rolls out on April 30To celebrate Sea of Thieves' one year anniversary, Rare has announced it is rolling out the game's biggest content update to date. The Sea of Thieves Anniversary Update will add three key new features: The Arena, The Hunter's Call and Tall Tales. The Arena is a new PvP competitive game mode that sees crews going head-to-head to collect the most loot. Meanwhile, the Hunter's Call is a new Trading Company that gives you more ways to play and progress towards Pirate Legend. However, arguably the most exciting new feature is Tall Tales - a collection of story-rich quests that are played out in Sea of Thieves' shared world and can be fully experienced by yourself or with your crew. The first collection of Tall Tales will be the Shores of Gold. Check out the Anniversary Update trailer below: In addition, Rare is treating players to a host of celebratory rewards such as new Mercenary Voyages, a new Reaper's Run Voyage, Commendations and cosmetics. There's also a special Gilded Mercenary Voyage of Legends for Pirate Legends. Not enough for you? There's a bunch of special rewards for those who played during the first year such as Captain Bones' Original Pirate Cutlass. While any player who attained Pirate Legend status during the first year will receive a Golden Legendary Tankard, a Golden Legendary Hurdy-Gurdy, a Golden Legendary Blunderbuss and Golden Legendary ship customisations including a Sail, Hull and Figurehead. How to play Sea of ThievesSea of Thieves is now available on PC and Xbox One. It's possible to purchase the game outright, but you can also pick up an Xbox Game Pass subscription where the entire game is included. If you're not sure whether Sea of Thieves is for you, picking up a Game Pass trial for free and playing the game for a short time through it is a good way to find out. The game is not a port for PC or Xbox, it works equally on both and supports cross-play. While the console version has locked frame rates of 30fps, the PC version's are unlocked. Mouse, keyboard and controllers are all supported across console and PC. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/BML6MhUPRptV9it3erAuDS.jpg (Image credits: Rare Ltd.) 4. Healthcare organizations are one of the biggest consumers of emerging technologies. From simple desktop computers to sophisticated diagnostic equipment, technological innovation is the driving force behind the rapid advancement in health and patient care services. However, such deep penetration of technology in healthcare has been possible due to the computing devices becoming increasingly user-friendly. Or rather, users have learned to imbibe the latest in-trend technologies to leverage the gamut of possibilities that digitization has brought along with it. However, due to constant usage, computers deployed in medical facilities are always susceptible to organized cyber threats, unintentional configuration drifts, and mishandling of sensitive patient data. Prompt resolution of these issues is not possible each and every time, mainly because of the diversity of devices, number of staff members accessing each device and the size of the facility. Third of US data breaches happen in hospitalsArtificial intelligence driving intelligent hospitalsAmazon is bringing AI to help read medical recordsLegacy solutions for maintenance, management, and troubleshooting of medical computers are unable to match up to the rapid innovation and evolution in the healthcare sector. IT specialists responsible for the upkeep of medical computing devices are constantly looking out for advanced and scalable solutions to provide the expected service. In this regard, the reboot to restore technology has been gaining ground as the most effective and efficient solution for preserving the optimal working condition of each endpoint. Here are the five major problems that healthcare IT staff has to tackle 24/7, and how these can be tackled by leveraging the reboot to restore technology. Problem 1: configuration driftsComputing devices in healthcare organizations are accessed by staff members from disparate teams. These professionals have to make prompt decisions frequently to tackle medical situations, that include matters concerning life and death. This also includes changing system settings and performing diagnosis as and when required to deliver patient care services with the level of agility that is expected from them. Providing such flexibility for staff is necessary for the mission-critical environment like that of a healthcare facility. But protecting systems integrity from configuration drifts has become a fundamental challenge for IT personnel managing such facilities. Solution The reboot to restore technology addresses such challenges by locking the admin-defined system configuration and preventing staff activities from having any permanent effect on the predefined state. By redirecting the changes made during ongoing sessions to a temporary space, the technology preserves the baseline settings while ensuring the smooth continuation of desired functions. In case of a configuration drift, the unwanted changes can be discarded and the original system configuration can be restored immediately by simply rebooting the device. Problem 2: malfunction and performance declineComputers in medical centers are used 24*7 due to the very purpose of their mission-critical functioning. These devices are accessed by multiple people including doctors, nurses, support staff, office admins and even patients for various requirements. Countless files are created on a daily basis, most of which are often for one-time use, redundant, or unnecessary. Similarly, the use of web-based applications or downloading/installing of unauthorized files and programs fills the medical computers with automatically generated add-ons, cookies, extensions, plugins and so on. The excessive load of unwanted elements consumes additional system resources, thus clogging its processing capability and resulting in performance deterioration. Solution The reboot to restore technology serves as the one-stop solution for addressing computer malfunction and performance degradation caused due to the aforementioned reasons. If a system shows even minor signs of malfunction, or its performance dips by even a fraction, the staff member using it only needs to restart the device. The instant restoration functionality of this technology comes into play and wipes out the unwanted files and inputs while reloading the admin-defined system configuration. Hence, the optimal performance of the device is restored within the time required for it to reboot. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/s3fZSNQcPjVBeU4amrR2bc.jpg Image Credit: Pixabay Problem 3: malwareMalware is getting increasingly sophisticated with each passing year, and their primary targets are organizations that contain the most sensitive data. As healthcare facilities leverage cloud and other advanced technologies, the threat of malware infiltration due to unwanted system changes is common. IT personnel at medical institutes face the paradoxical challenge of preventing the malicious programs from affecting the desired state of systems without imposing restrictions on usage. Solution With the reboot to restore technology in place, baseline state of healthcare devices remain unaffected even if accidental or unauthorized changes occur, irrespective of how advanced and harmful they are. The technology provides impenetrable protection to the admin-set configuration. When an infected device is restarted, the malware or virus is completely eradicated and the baseline state is rolled back. Problem 4: downtimeA survey of healthcare information systems (HCIS) by Ponemon Institute revealed that medical institutes face 2.7 total system outages on average over a period of two years, which is the highest when compared to other sectors. The same survey also revealed that healthcare facilities suffer the second-longest downtime as each incident renders a system unavailable for more than a couple of hours. At a more granular level, individual systems (endpoints or servers) experience more than one outage instance every year. The figures effectively draw the picture of system downtime in the healthcare sector and the critical need to fix it. Solution The instant system restoration capability of the reboot to restore technology virtually reduces downtime to zero. From minor glitches to complete system failure, issues of any magnitude can be resolved with just a restart. As long as the issue is not originating from hardware, the reboot to restore technology can resolve an issue in approximately the same time taken for a device restart. Since the technology empowers end users by minimizing dependence on traditional troubleshooting methods with lengthy execution process, the only period for which devices remain unavailable is the reboot time. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xEpQMeDSc3ZZSpTUd8CyLD.jpg Image Credit: Pexels Problem 5: overloaded IT teamsStaff strength of healthcare facilities ranges from hundreds to thousands, depending on their scope of service. However, irrespective of the size of the medical center, its IT team comprises only a handful of technology specialists. Expecting a few people to monitor hundreds of endpoints and actively resolve issues as and when they occur is unrealistic, which manifests in the form of problems stated above. Solution The reboot to restore technology significantly reduces the load on IT professionals managing a healthcare center. The technology makes every staff member capable of troubleshooting even unprecedented issues as they only have to restart the device to restore its pristine state. Manual intervention is required only in case of hardware failure or as part of the organization’s protocol. This allows technology experts to focus on more critical concerns rather than just troubleshooting for the most part of the day. The five problems stated above, and the relevant capabilities of the reboot to restore technology, aptly underscore why healthcare institutes should leverage this innovation for maintaining their medical computers. Reboot to restore software solutions are, therefore, rapidly expanding their customer base in the healthcare sector. More importantly, these software solutions come along with myriad additional features that assist healthcare IT staff in managing the entire infrastructure more effectively and efficiently. 5. Virgin Media could open up its cable network to its rivals for the first time, creating significant competition for Openreach in the wholesale market. Cable broadband in the UK has long been positioned as a premium product due to its speed advantage over the copper and fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) services available from providers, such as BT, Sky and TalkTalk, that use the Openreach network. The company is testing 8Gbps broadband in Cambridgeshire for example. Virgin Media trials 8Gbps broadbandVirgin Media is the UK's most complained about networkHow to switch broadband providerVirgin Media wholesaleHowever, Openreach’s ongoing plans to build fibre to the premise (FTTP) have led Virgin Media’s parent company Liberty Global to conduct a review, according to The Daily Telegraph. FTTP will erode Virgin Media’s speed advantage and its key differentiator. The newspaper says Liberty is debating whether it makes more sense to move into wholesale – a market that offers lower margins but also presents an opportunity for greater market share. Broadband providers would welcome the extra competition and although Openreach’s coverage is far greater than that of Virgin Media, the £3 billion ‘Project Lightning’ project will see the cable network reach 17 million properties. Sky is reported to be interested in a wholesale agreement. But the move could threaten Virgin Media’s core business, especially since rivals would be able to offer cheaper cable services. One suggestion is that Virgin could limit wholesale access to the ‘Project Lightning’ areas of the network, especially since expansion has been focussed in parts of the UK already served by Openreach. That would protect Virgin’s core subscription base while also offering competition in Openreach areas. In February it was reported that Virgin Media was considering a takeover bid for Hull-based telco KCOM. 8. AMD is still well and truly dominating Intel in the processor world, selling more than twice as many chips as its rival according to one retailer. The latest stats from German retailer Mindfactory, for the month of March, pegged AMD as selling 69% of all CPUs, meaning Intel only held a 31% market share. This is a familiar story by now, as if you rewind six months to the retailer’s September 2018 figures, AMD held almost two-thirds (65%) of the market. And that has increased slightly since, with AMD at 69% in November, shifting 16,000 units compared to Intel which managed just under 8,000 sales. Intel’s Gen11 looks to be an integrated graphics powerhouseIntel’s first mainstream octa-core processor is a beastAMD vs Intel: which processors are better? In these most recent March statistics, AMD sold around 13,000 units compared to Intel’s 6,000, opening up the gulf even further. Of course, we can’t judge the overall market based on sales figures from one single retailer, but it does give us a fair idea of the lay of the land, and we can also take the historical perspective into account. In recent times, Intel’s sales have remained relatively flat at Mindfactory, whereas AMD has picked up huge momentum, selling twice as many CPUs in November 2018 as it did in November 2017. As Wccftech, which highlighted the figures, points out, this is now the third quarter in a row in which AMD has outsold Intel’s chips, making the former’s domination of the market pretty clear-cut (at least from this relatively limited perspective). Gremlins in Intel’s worksAMD has clearly been buoyed by its competitively priced Ryzen processors, and equally, Intel has been held back by production difficulties with its latest silicon – particularly stock shortages of more affordable CPUs (with its manufacturing issues, Intel has chosen to focus more on high-end models, as they carry more of a profit margin). Which was the best-selling processor of all at Mindfactory? That would be the Ryzen 5 2600 six-core CPU, the 2600X spin of which is our pick for best mid-range processor currently. Intel’s top-selling chip was the mighty Core i9-9900K, believe it or not, despite its cost, which reinforces what we were saying earlier about the firm’s shortage of low-end CPUs. Therefore it’s not particularly surprising to hear that if you compare revenue rather than unit sales, AMD is only just in the lead, accounting for 54% of the money flowing into the German retailer’s coffers. So Intel is barely behind in terms of profit rather than pure numbers of CPUs shifted. We’ve picked out the best laptops of 2019http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/WpqhI642h3c
  9. The Lexus Design Award is a big deal. You can tell that as the six finalists who, gathered in a trendy warehouse space at the epicenter of Milan Design Week, talk eagerly about their innovations. The ‘super six’ as we’ll call them have been whittled down from a total of 1,548 worldwide entries from no less than 65 countries. And, on the day the press got to give them a grilling about their inventions, the handful of finalist’s were also due to find out who was going to win the 2019 Lexus Design Award just a few hours later. To be honest, all six of the finalists are winners. Just to get this far in a competition that has grown in stature since it was first launch back in 2013 is a huge boost for these innovators. Inventing things is one thing, but getting them to market is incredibly difficult, particularly when you’re often doing it under your own steam. They all seem unanimous is stating that the support from Lexus has been invaluable. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/GyrxySsAMzJhK5P2DgvprK.jpg Algorithmic Lace merges traditional craft with modern innovation (Image credit: Rob Clymo) However, what adds another level of excitement to the 2019 Lexus Design Award showcase is the diversity that’s on offer. There’s the groundbreaking Algorithmic Lace bra, and Arenophile, which seeks to find a new purpose for desert sand. Flood mitigation housing project Baluto is clever, while Green Blast Jet Energy, which harnesses wasted jet engine energy to produce power, seems really promising too. Hydrus, meanwhile, seeks to minimize the effects of offshore oil spills whilst Solgami is an origami-inspired blind system for windows that can generate electricity and improve illumination. It’s a real mixed bag. And, perhaps surprisingly for a competition started by a car manufacturer, there isn’t much here to do with the automotive industry. In an exercise that looked more like a speed dating event than a chance to talk to inventors about their ideas, TechRadar got to work our way around the warehouse space talking to most of the creators. Meet the inventorsWe kicked off by meeting Lisa Marks, from the USA. Her idea? That Algorithmic Lace bra. This, in essence, is a bespoke bra made specifically for women who have undergone a mastectomy. It’s been custom crafted, she tells us, using a new technique involving algorithmic patterning to make three-dimensional lace. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/EZV2SqV8PefpzwU645J6CC.jpg Lisa Marks's Algorithmic Lace bra, designed for women who have underdone a mastectomy (Image credit: Rob Clymo) The idea is quirky, but undeniably clever. What’s most intriguing about the story is that Lisa, an industrial designer, has managed to blend craft research with algorithmic design in the first place. Her thinking suggests a real community-based mentality; she wants to promote sustainable methods to help craft communities. Creating lace by hand and combining it with tech seems a bit strange, but it all starts to make sense as she elaborates on the concept. The idea is so impressive it ends up bagging Lisa the 2019 Lexus Design Award a hour or so later. The good vibes continued as we moved on to Ben Berwick, an affable Australian who’s developed Solgami. This fascinating invention uses origami geometry to give apartment residents a closer connection to their external environment. It’s basically a neat twist on the window blind, which helps to both illuminate poorly lit urban spaces more efficiently as well as generating electricity. It seems to be one of those ideas that, you think, must surely have been done already. Except it hasn’t. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/paGPSNpr7tPfTL7EnMscPM.jpg Solgami is an origami-inspired window blind that generates energy and helps light gloomy spaces (Image credit: Rob Clymo) Given the amount of windows that exist around the globe, the invention has the potential to be huge. Berwick developed the concept initially while he was doing a Master’s degree in engineering at the University of Tokyo. It is, however, an invention that could be rolled out anywhere. Ben cites hospitals as the perfect place where he could take the idea next. We also met Dmitriy Balashov, a Russian entrant who specialises in industrial design. His idea is equally impressive when you consider the potential. Green Blast Jet Energy is an innovation that makes it possible to harvest the otherwise wasted energy of aircraft as they take off. Considering major airport hubs around the world have jets taking off as frequently as every minute it seems like this invention has serious potential too. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FJ7L2gbuhPCtUG7sx9tZhj.jpg Green Blast Jet Energy, designed by Dmitriy Balashov, harvests waste energy from jet aircraft at takeoff (Image credit: Rob Clymo) Of course, in a way having the idea is the easy bit. Jumping through the many logistical loops and making an invention commercially viable is something else entirely. It’s an issue that LDA judge John Maeda thinks is perhaps the biggest part of the challenge. Before he became a technologist, Maeda started out in venture capital, so he knows a thing or two about finance. Raising it for unorthodox ventures isn’t easy he explains over a coffee. But, being in a competition like this certainly helps open a few doors along the way. That’s something winner Lisa Marks will find a little bit easier having taken that prestigious first prize. “Lexus doesn’t have to do this,” she said as she accepted her award. “They could be a successful brand without it. But it shows their commitment to design and to a better world.” The 2019 Lexus US 200 seems to have no blind spots, and here's whyhttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/YwQEx3pemro
  10. Call centres have a bad reputation among customers, but it doesn't have to be that way. There's no such thing as an average day in a call centre. For starters, no two customer queries are the same. This makes resolving complaints and improving customer satisfaction an ongoing challenge – and the key to success is how organisations invest in overcoming this challenge. Google is bringing AI to the call centreThis call center AI system will match you with your perfect customer service rep5 best practices to improve CSP call center supportWhen good is no longer good enoughThe call centre might not be at the core of a business, but it will always have a major impact on the firm’s overall success. A negative call centre experience can affect a company's brand reputation, its customer retention and its bottom line. Customer expectations have never been higher; we’re a nation of consumers who are more likely to complain if a service doesn’t meet the high quality that has come to be expected. The best call centres aim for more than ‘satisfactory’; they are looking to provide exceptional customer experience. Unfortunately, for companies and customers alike, high-quality experiences are the exception, despite six in ten organisations seeing customer experience as a key point of difference between them and their competitors. The problem is that companies are failing to act on their own aims. While 92% of companies cite their customer experience as a top priority, more than half of call centre customers rate their experiences from "very poor" to just "okay". http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/uNTfaX8CyxnNwRctXLmbo5.jpg Image Credit: Plantronics Why change has to be more than skin deepAs shown above, a well-run call centre can make a big difference to both a business and its customers. So, how do companies go about achieving the high-quality interactions they need? How do they improve their existing customer experience? It's tempting to start with the frontline staff as they're the people who actually engage with the customers. However, this ignores the underlying problems with how the company works. Any analysis carried out by the leaders on the actions of their staff has to spark real change throughout the business. If not, what's the point? Another problem is assuming that call centre workers have the right tools for the job in the first place. If the case complaints management system is not fit for purpose, there's no chance of even the best employees being able to deliver high-quality customer experience. Bringing the conversation together Many call centres struggle with their customer experience because they still work in the past. They still operate on a business model built around a time when voice calls were almost the only way to contact a company. Today, tech-savvy people who communicate in different ways dominate the workforce (and customer base). Customers now expect to have access to companies via many different channels (including social media), while employees expect to use systems that facilitate (and link) these multi-channel conversations. Customers can have more than one interaction with a company's call centre – often with many agents and sometimes across more than one channel. If the call centre team can't bring individual interactions together then customers could become frustrated, which could in turn threaten your brand reputation. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ZsCHHCR7cb9c3R2nwxeB7Q.jpg Image Credit: Pixabay Even the right tools might not do the job Many companies believe their call centres have the right tools and systems in place to support their teams, but there's no guarantee of actually making the most of this. How can they be sure their people have access to the right information at the right time (while also restricting sensitive data)? How do they know that their customers are happy with their experiences? How do they know reports are creating insights that make the business more competitive? The answer to this is that companies can never do too much when it comes to checking their processes and assuring quality. Focusing on QA in a call centre is vital. It reveals where teams can improve and gives leaders an accurate overview of how the business is operating. Effectively, it tells companies everything they need to know. Quality is the assurance customers need The benefits of effective QA are clear. Accurate information and transparent processes improve loyalty among both customers and employees, which becomes easier to achieve because QA encourages businesses to become more data-driven. It reduces the instances of mishandled interactions and provides useful insight to avoid a recurrence. Similarly, the real-time nature of QA information means companies can spot costly mistakes before they have an impact, with employees also being more likely to buy into the process, knowing it is has a clear framework based on up-to-date metrics. Even better is the fact that QA works alongside existing case management solutions. Rather than requiring a costly replacement, QA improves both the use and analysis of the systems in place, allowing companies to take a step back and gain a clearer picture of how their call centre works (or doesn't, in the worst-case scenario). http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xZTAWqzsmn38eGB9KEXMTK.jpg Image Credit: Shutterstock Assuring a high-quality customer experienceThere’s little doubt that QA will have an immediate effect on a business. While the long-term plan would be to completely reshape the way the company works, leaders and employees alike will most definitely notice results straightaway. They'll soon see the difference it has on customer interactions and, eventually, they'll see the positive impact it has on brand reputation. The changes don't have to end there, though. With responsive, insightful tools, companies will have the ability to go even further, changing existing call centre practices and even the entire business culture to provide the best customer service. The key is to create a call centre experience that exceeds customer needs; a business that keeps its goal in mind will undoubtedly find it easier to achieve, with the difference being between knowing exactly how to improve customer satisfaction and having almost no idea at all. So, what's the plan for your business? Do you want to learn from your mistakes and create a better customer experience, or would you prefer to stay in the dark about your performance? The choice is yours... 11. We've heard rumors that the Honor 20 will be available as early as the end of April, and it looks like it won't be alone, if a report that's claimed to provide in-depth information on the Honor 20 Lite is anything to go by. The report, by WinFuture, appears to be a huge information dump about the smaller sibling to the Honor 20, including its display size and camera setup. According to WinFuture, the phone will have a three-camera rear setup consisting of 24MP main, 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP depth-sensing cameras, which will be joined by a 32MP front-facing camera. These specs sound similar to the Huawei P30 with its 40MP main, 16MP ultra-wide and 8MP telephoto rear cameras and 32MP front snapper, which makes sense since phones from both Honor and its parent company Huawei use the same Leica camera tech. Could the iPhone 11 have three rear cameras? What will we see in the OnePlus 7?These are our picks for the best camera phonesOne strange feature of the phone, if the report is accurate, is the fact that it's got a microUSB port for charging its 3,400mAh battery and connecting to devices – that's rather old-school in 2019, and would make the handset feel a little dated. Lastly WinFuture claims the phone will have a Kirin 710 chipset, which we also expect to see in the Huawei P30 Lite, and run with 4GB RAM, which is a fairly standard amount, but its 128GB internal memory should be plenty for most users. While we can't say for sure if the report is accurate, it does back up what we'd expect to see in the device, as Honor phones usually re-use features seen on Huawei flagships. For now Honor can't tell us when the Honor 20, as well as the Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20 Lite, will release, but we don't expect it's too far off, so stay tuned to TechRadar for all the latest phones news. 12. Openreach’s fibre to the premise (FTTP) network is now available to more than 1.2 million homes and businesses. BT-owned Openreach is embarking on a major build of FTTP, with ambitions to reach 10 million premises by the middle of the next decade. It has pledged to expand the scope of this rollout if the investment conditions are right. The rollout is supported by the government, which wants 15 million properties to be connected to fibre by 2025 and wants nationwide coverage to be completed by 2033. It would then consider switching off the UK’s copper infrastructure. Openreach recruits more fibre engineersEE to launch 5G in 2019What is 5G? Everything you need to knowOpenreach FTTPOpenreach CEO Clive Selley said the company is on track to reach its initial target of three million homes and businesses by the end of 2020. In total, it is connected more than 14,000 properties every week. “Since the launch of our build programme last year we’ve made huge progress – honing our skills, tools and techniques, driving our costs down and helping our engineers to go ever further, faster and more efficiently,” he said. “Last month we announced plans for Salisbury to become the first entire city in the country to have access to our FTTP network – in what is expected to be the fastest city-wide network build in the UK. “But it’s not all about being a fast builder, we’re also keen to encourage fast adoption. We recently launched a consultation with industry to decide how and when we upgrade customers to this new future-proofed digital network “None of this would be possible without our engineering workforce – which is why it is fantastic to see so many new people wanting to join the country’s largest team of telecoms experts working to expand, upgrade, maintain and install services over Openreach’s national broadband network.” The next stage of rollout will focus on Northern Ireland, with Armagh, Bangor, Ballymena, Greater Belfast, Coleraine, Derry-Londonderry, Enniskillen, Lisburn, Larne, Newry and Newtownards all earmarked for coverage. This brings the total number of ultrafast locations up to 38. Here are the best BT broadband deals for April 2019http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/C8gQRrtQoT0
  13. The best 4K monitors were the golden ideal of computing for a while, but these days, pretty much everyone can get on the UHD computing train. This is great news, because there is so much content designed for ultra high definition displays, from the best PC games to operating systems. And, just like any other monitor, the best 4K monitors are designed to provide users with a beautifully immersive – or productive – experience. With the new wave of affordable 4K monitors recently hitting the market, considerably cheaper than 4K TVs, they’re naturally all the rage right now. If you’re one of the many currently in the market for a 4K monitor to meet your PC gaming needs while still keeping within budget, we’re here to help you find the right one. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ecLW9Y9SxZj9FVoaKv6WfP.jpg Image Credit: LG When you’re looking for the best 4K monitor, you want to find something that’s affordable, but also has fantastic picture quality. It’s a balance that’s pretty rare, but the LG 27UD88-W hits it out of the park. Not only does this panel cover 99% of the sRGB color space, but it does so with an insane contrast ratio and a response time to display the best PC games as they should be seen. The best part? It does all this while maintaining a reasonable price tag. If you have the horsepower to drive the LG 27UD88-W, you should pick it up. Read the full review: LG 27UD88-W http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/EMymLK9k6oPemyX5wX2Vjk.jpg As both 4K panels and HDR technology become more ubiquitous, we’re starting to see more affordable monitors take on the market, and the Philips Brilliance 328P does just that. This 4K monitor combines a 4K VA panel with decent HDR performance at a price point that won’t force you to break open the piggy bank. Its brightness doesn’t quite reach its lofty HDR 600 rating, but at this price, it’s hard to complain. The Philips Brilliance 328P really is one of the best 4K monitors out there. With its sharpness, vivid colors, and ultra high resolution, it delivers excellent image quality for an affordable price no less. It also affords a range of features that rival its more expensive competitors. One such feature is its ergonomic stand for adjustable height and a screen you can pivot to your heart’s content. There’s also its 60Hz refresh rate as well as its gamut of ports. P2715Q is a strong contender for professionals and gamers alike. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/DDYeTBhBWcEjxUzJAzJ5kH.jpg Image Credit: BenQ If you’re looking for one of the best 4K monitors for everyday computing and productivity, you don’t want to buy into all the fancy frills that most modern monitors boast – you’re going to want to consider the BenQ PD2700U. This monitor doesn’t feature fancy Quantum Dot tech, or Adaptive Sync, it doesn’t even have USB-C input! But, what the PD2700U does have is pixels and lots of them. It’s not cheap, but it’s color accurate, has plenty of desktop real estate and will fit in any office. Its Ultra-Slim Aluminum monitor, for example, is hailed for its sleek, ultra-thin bezel design and ultra-wide viewing angles at 178°. This monitor isn’t particularly feature-rich – there are no built-in speakers, for example – but its IPS panel allows for extremely sharp image, FreeSync tech reduces screen tearing and Monoprice’s Pixel Perfect Guarantee gives it vibrant color performance. Plus, with two DisplayPorts and two HDMI ports, there’s plenty of connectivity on offer. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/wnko9AbghVjfEniEMfFLpc.jpg Image Credit: Asus While 4K monitors are becoming more and more common, even without particularly powerful hardware, we still run into the kind of monitor that changes everything. The Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ is one of these. Asus has managed to craft a 4K gaming monitor with HDR and the kind of color support you see in professional displays – and render that all at 144Hz with G-Sync no less. There are only a few monitors out there that packs as many features as this Asus screen, and that’s why it’s one of the best 4K monitors. It is not without quirks: the screen brightness could be higher, the red on black trim is an acquired taste, and it has no built-in speakers. On the other hand, you get amazing picture quality, quick response time, accurate color performance, multiple ports, and a versatile stand for multiple viewing angle options. Its most notable feature is AMD FreeSync to prevent tearing and ensure that your games are running smoothly. Of course, the picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture modes are also helpful because who doesn’t multitask nowadays. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/TnnXYJNk7xwRemp8cRhQMo.jpg Image Credit: AOC Though IPS monitors offer better viewing angles and color reproduction, a TN monitor is better for competitive gaming with much faster response time, higher refresh rates, and affordability. This is how AOC’s U2879VF has a 1ms response time and a refresh rate of 144Hz all for a low, low price. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows however. If you can forgive the restricted viewing angles, the occasional flickering at 144Hz, the absence of a USB port, and the ho-hum color performance, this AMD FreeSync-enabled monitor is for you. Not only is it a 27-inch 4K monitor with HDR, but it also has a refresh rate of a whopping 144 Hz. If you have the horsepower, you can play games in 4K competitively without losing an edge to the person playing in 1080p. But, as you may expect from a spec sheet like this, it’s very expensive – but if you need the tech, it’s definitely there. Unfortunately this bigger than life screen might also be darker around the edges and a sluggish refresh rage. However, this 4K monitor’s other features will more than make up for its flaws. The screen split software, for one, allows for a range of screen configurations. This, coupled with its four HDMI inputs, a DisplayPort 1.2a port, and a USC-C port, will let you effortlessly run multiple devices at once. 14. Technology is playing an increasingly important role in our lives: from facial recognition systems in policing, to algorithms for job recruitment, to virtual assistants in our homes. As technology becomes ever-more interwoven with our daily lives, technology companies must ensure that their work is for the human good. This awareness is reaching the upper ranks in Silicon Valley. When Chris Cox recently departed Facebook, he wrote: “Social media's history is not yet written, and its effects are not neutral. It is tied up in the richness and complexity of social life. As its builders we must endeavor to understand its impact—all the good, and all the bad—and take up the daily work of bending it towards the positive, and towards the good. This is our greatest responsibility.” Technological disruption: let’s not forget empathyA holistic approach to technology: how SMBs can continue to innovateMozilla: To have a healthy society, you need a healthy infrastructureDespite Cox’s claims that Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook have been contemplating the social impacts of technology for more than a decade, we need only take a cursory glance at the mounting investigations about the ways in which our personal data has been sold and used to know that whatever work Facebook and other big technology companies have been doing to bend technology toward the positive have fallen critically short. It is an important step that Facebook is calling to understand the social impacts of its technologies—but these can’t just be empty words. We need serious, sustained research on how technology is shaping society—in the United States and around the world. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ZsvAFBw78rxMCRSd4vUYSX.jpg Image Credit: Pixabay Science, technology and society studiesTechnology is not neutral, as Cox correctly identifies. Technology and society are deeply connected and influence each other in profound and lasting ways. Yet, we know very little about the on-the-ground social impacts of new technologies. A December 2018 report from Elsevier found that despite the urgent imperative to develop ethical artificial intelligence technologies, little research is being done on the topic. The report cites this critical gap in knowledge as “one of the most pressing questions” in the field. These findings confirm what we as social scientists have known for a long time: we simply are not studying the ethical implications and social impacts of new technologies. The good news is that there is an entire scholarly field that has been thinking through these issues for nearly 50 years: science, technology, and society studies—abbreviated to STS. Scholars of STS come from fields including anthropology, history, and political science. STS investigates a wide range of issues including social media, big data, technological surveillance, medical technologies, and climate politics. Academic STS offers a nuanced understanding of these complex topics. The bad news is that STS insights are largely locked in the ivory tower. This needs to change. We need rigorous research on the social impacts of technology. We need this research to be available to a wide variety of stakeholders so it can be used to create better technology and to understand how the technologies we already have are shaping our lives. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/r6FqCwFX3owwSBoVvkrEuL.jpg Image Credit: Pixabay Bending technology toward the positiveIf we are truly committed to bending technology toward the positive we need to do the following three things. 1. STS scholars must publish, present, and teach in public forums As Cathy O’Neil has said in no uncertain terms, “academics have been asleep at the wheel.” We must have a voice in one of the most important conversations of our times: how new technologies are shaping our world. Scholars of STS have a crucial role to play to educate the public, lawmakers, journalists, and technology leaders about our research on the nuanced and complex relationship between technology and society. 2. Technology thought leaders and makers must become literate in the social impacts of technologies Sadly, Silicon Valley regularly demonstrates an alarming lack of comprehension about the social effects of its technologies. This was on clear display when Mark Zuckerberg promised Congress purely technological fixes for social problems—don’t worry, AI will fix hate speech and fake news. Likewise, when Cox declares the need to understand the impacts of social media but Facebook fails to offer any concrete plan to monitor its social effects, we see a dangerous blind spot. 3. We need independent, expert evaluation and monitoring of the social impacts of technology Independent, because we cannot rely on technology companies to evaluate the effects of their own technologies. Expert, because we need highly-trained social scientists to do this work. Although “ethnography” has become a catch-phrase in technology and design circles, it takes years of education and training to carry out the kind of robust, systematic empirical research we need. Social scientists must be dedicated to the crucial endeavor of understanding the impacts of technology on society. As the president of MIT has said, “Humanity faces urgent challenges—challenges whose solutions depend on marrying advanced technical and scientific capabilities with a deep understanding of the world's political, cultural, and economic complexities.” Technology is shaping society, and it is our responsibility to make sure we are shaping it for the human good. 15. GCHQ has suggested that mobile operators could be banned from using Huawei equipment in and around Westminster due to concerns about the company’s software engineering practices. All four major UK operators use Huawei’s radio equipment in their networks, but its use is subject to monitoring by a dedicated organisation set up by the National Cybersecurity Centre (NCSC). The Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Centre (HCSEC) Oversight Board’s most recent report found "significant technical issues in Huawei's engineering processes" and that the company's approach to software development brings "significantly increased risk to UK operators". What is 5G? Everything you need to knowHuawei details 5G base station and modem chipsUS has 'no evidence' for claimsSecurity concernsHuawei has acknowledged the report and has pledged to invest $2 billion to remedy the concerns – a commitment reiterated to by the head of the company’s carrier business Ryan Ding. However, GCHQ’s Dr Ian Levy told the BBC' Panorama programme that the organisation was unconvinced. "The security in Huawei is like nothing else - it's engineering like it's back in the year 2000 - it's very, very shoddy,” he is quoted as saying ahead of the programme airing later tonight. “We've seen nothing to give us any confidence that the transformation programme is going to do what they say it's going to do." Several countries are scrutinising the use of Huawei equipment in their telecommunications infrastructure amid concerns it could be a threat to national security. Chief among these are the US which believes the company’s alleged links to the Chinese government mean there is a significant risk of backdoors that could be used to facilitate state-sponsored espionage. Huawei has repeatedly denied the allegations, claiming the US has absolutely no evidence to support them. Despite this, Washington has urged its allies to ditch Huawei from their communications infrastructure. In the UK, all four operators are Huawei customers but only use the company’s kit in their radio networks – not the core. Espionage fearsThe Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is set to publish a review of the UK’s telecoms infrastructure next month. Any move to exclude Huawei from the UK market would be met with resistance from operators who fear costs would rise and innovation would decrease, but it is now thought that limits on the use of Huawei kit would be the most extreme outcome. In practice, operators would be restricted to using equipment from the company across half of their infrastructure. The suggestion is that such a compromise would allow officials to manage any perceived risk while ensuring “diversity of supply.” This would be a far more palatable outcome to operators, who oppose any outright ban, as they use a mixture of Huawei, Nokia and Ericsson equipment in their networks. A report from industry body Mobile UK has suggested that any ban could delay the rollout of 5G deployment by up to two years and cost the UK economy £6.8 billion. Levy said that despite GCHQ’s concerns about Huawei’s engineering, it did not think that backdoors were a likely risk and that communications carried across the network were encrypted independently of the network. Huawei response“The 2019 [Oversight Board (OB)] report details some concerns about Huawei's software engineering capabilities,” a Huawei spokesperson told TechRadar Pro. “We understand these concerns and take them very seriously. “The issues identified in the OB report provide vital input for the ongoing transformation of our software engineering capabilities. In November last year Huawei's Board of Directors issued a resolution to carry out a companywide transformation programme aimed at enhancing our software engineering capabilities, with an initial budget of US$2bn. “A high-level plan for the programme has been developed and we will continue to work with UK operators and the NCSC during its implementation to meet the requirements created as cloud, digitization, and software-defined everything become more prevalent. To ensure the ongoing security of global telecom networks, the industry, regulators, and governments need to work together on higher common standards for cyber security assurance and evaluation.” Here are the best deals for Huawei mobile phones in April 2019http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/SMdwi6nXQtE

That still doesn’t guarantee that we’ll see the Samsung Galaxy A90 there, but it’s now looking very likely. In any case, the Samsung Galaxy A90 is likely to be the most high-end and exciting model to launch. Rumors point to it having a camera that both pops up and rotates, so one camera setup can work for both sides of the phone and there’s no need for a bezel, notch or punch-hole at the top of the screen. And this doesn’t sound like it will be a single-lens affair, with rumors also talking of a triple-lens setup, including a 48MP main lens, an 8MP secondary one and a ToF (time-of-flight) depth sensor. The Galaxy A90 might also have a 6.7-inch Full HD+ screen and a 3,700mAh battery, so it could make for an interesting alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S10 or Galaxy S10e. We’ll be reporting live from the April 10 event and will bring you all the news and announcements as they happen. This created Hewlett Packard Enterprise which would handle the company’s enterprise infrastructure and services while HP Inc. was tasked with producing consumer devices such as laptops, desktops and printers. 19. A fresh leak has given us an idea of the sort of performance we might expect from Intel’s Core i7-9750H laptop-targeted processor, as well as the notebook spin on Nvidia’s allegedly imminent GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. This comes from @momomo_us on Twitter (a source of a number of previous leaks), who did some digging and unearthed promotional material for a supposedly incoming gaming laptop from MSI, which uses both the aforementioned components. On the processor front, the leaked figures highlight an undetermined benchmark from MSI which shows that the Core i7-9750H is around 28% faster than the i7-8750H it replaces – plus it’s roughly twice as quick as the i7-7700HQ. Here are the latest rumors on Nvidia’s Turing graphics cardsWe’ve highlighted all the best gaming laptops of 2019We have also chosen the best processorsIn other words, it’s a bit of a notebook speed demon, with a near-30% jump being an impressive upgrade compared to its predecessor. That said, we must firstly bear in mind that this is only a purported leak, and also, there’s the fact that we don’t know what benchmark MSI used here. Pixel shifterWith the graphics card, which is Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1650 that we’ve been hearing so much about recently – rumored to be launching later this month – we do at least know that the benchmark is 3DMark 11, and it shows the mobile GPU hitting a score of 11,294. That compares to a result of 7,979 for the GTX 1050, so a quick bit of maths indicates that the GTX 1650 will be a very tidy 41% faster. The GTX 1050 Ti scored 9,114, and so the GTX 1650 will (allegedly) be around 24% faster. Again, that’s impressively nippy, and MSI’s promo bumph also shows that the GTX 1650 has 4GB of video memory and a base clock of 1,395MHz, reinforcing previous speculation that those specs are on the money. Furthermore, some gaming frame rates are also quoted, including the laptop (and therefore the GTX 1650) hitting 98 frames per second (fps) in Fortnite, 75 fps in GTA V, and 65 fps in PUBG, presumably at Full HD resolution (as that’s the spec of the 15.6-inch IPS display). The MSI laptop which the leaked details pertain to is the GL63 for 2019, the top-spec model of which will have the aforementioned CPU and GPU, backed with 16GB of system memory and a 512GB NVMe SSD. The lesser variant keeps all the above, but switches the processor for a Core i5-9300H. 20. When it comes to legal software, it is no surprise that firms typically opt for solutions which offer maximum compliance and longevity for their practice. Finding a piece of software which meets a firm’s individual needs and those of their clients can therefore be both time-consuming and tedious. The research involved, time taken and the pressure of choosing the right system can often seem like a daunting task - particularly in a time where new legal technologies are emerging regularly across the sector. That said, the appetite to invest in technology is clear to see, with a 2018 report by HSBC indicating that 87% of firms believe it will help to boost revenue by enabling enhanced service offerings to their clients. However, the legal software market today is now also going through a period of change and consolidation with many providers now looking to larger organisations for the resources needed to rewrite their solutions with modern technology. In years gone by, suppliers in the 1 to 200-user firm market tended to be owner-managed businesses. Firms looking to purchase from them bought into the ethos of the company, the service and the people, safe in the knowledge that if they needed assistance or if there was a problem, the Managing Director (MD) of the supplier company (and in most cases the owner) was a phone call away. Four steps to make MTD work for youBusting common myths about Making Tax DigitalMTD: It's not too late to make the right choiceToday’s landscape is very different, with a good number of these MD-owned businesses having been bought up by larger venture capitalist backed businesses seeking to consolidate the market and drive new product development with greater access to new technology. Yet, this focus on innovative, ‘go-forward’ products has created inevitable risks for the existing products already in use across many firms. While these older products may still be supported by their suppliers in the short term, many won’t receive the active development required to keep pace with the changes in profession and may well even be ‘end-of-lifed’ in the future. Ultimately, this means that users risk either not being totally compliant or will have to employ work-arounds to make them both function and remain compliant. As 2019 gets underway, more change is fast-approaching for many legal businesses and these movements are turning up the pressure on law firms to digitise in order to adhere to industry regulations. A great and pressing example of this is the HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) scheme, which launched this year and is set to make fundamental changes to the way the tax system works. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/WrtNPFGaymT5sXxHriLB7g.jpg Image Credit: Shutterstock Making Tax DigitalThe first stage of the initiative, which took effect on 1st April 2019 will require firms to record and report their VAT transactions digitally. Currently, VAT registered firms can submit their VAT returns online by manually entering the figures that would have previously been recorded on the old-style paper forms. MTD significantly changes this by now requiring firms to have suitable software in place that can record all VAT transactions and then submit the data to the HMRC via a new Application Programming Interface (API). Keeping paper only records will no longer be acceptable, every VAT registered firm will need to maintain their accounts digitally. From now on, not only will companies need software that is capable of recording all of their transactions digitally, this software will also need to be capable of communicating directly with the HMRC’s systems. As the current online VAT return submission system will cease to function come April, it is essential that all VAT registered companies have HMRC API compatible software by this time. The requirement to maintain digital accounting records means that the details of each transaction must be stored in some kind of electronic ledger system. Obviously, almost every firm will have been running accounting software for many years, so this requirement is not particularly onerous. However, even firms that only use Excel to recording their accounts will still have to purchase software that integrates with Excel to allow the VAT return submission and continue working in this way. It is therefore vital that law firms are checking the status of their systems and that their chosen software has the controls in place to maintain an efficient and compliant operation. As the industry continues to be impacted by new regulations, firms that don’t ask questions of their existing software provider could be leaving themselves open to risks of falling short of legal requirements or incurring higher fees. These risks are particularly high in cases where their current legal software products are no longer receiving the updates required for users to remain compliant, as the industry continues to digitise and regulations change. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/cCB9yTise4XrmdeAoKnej.jpg Image Credit: Pexels Staying compliant in 2019Amidst the almost certain possibility of both further changes to the likes of MTD in the future and the continuing digitisation of the industry, many legal software suppliers will unsurprisingly invest heavily into developing their ‘go-forward’ products in order to meet these demands. The end result of this can be that the software products that law firms invested in are no longer supported, and in many cases are ‘end of lifed’ or ‘sunsetted’. This will of course have repercussions on its users and will potentially push them to make a number of unwilling changes. For example, the impact on a law firm could be that their existing supplier requests that they change to an alternative system, which could come at a large expense to the business. Should they chose not to, remaining with their existing system could mean that they simply will not be compliant from the moment any new legislations come into force. In addition, many law firms may not have considered the potential time it takes to implement and migrate to a new software solution. Data migration takes considerable time and resources to make sure it’s done right. This can leave many Firms caught out should this process be left too close to regulatory deadline or if the transition is not complete before their current system ceases entirely and is no longer available for use or supported by its provider. This could have a number of consequences – such as forcing them to accept a high renewal or large migration fee to remain with the current supplier, or even sign a lengthy agreement on a software that they are not fully satisfied with. With a chance of increased costs and non-compliance looming in these circumstances, law firms must now check their existing software’s status and make clear decisions over their software soon if they are to adhere to new industry regulations and remain cost effective as soon as any issues arise. Today, firms which make active precautions, such as contacting their suppliers to enquire about the state of their purchased software or seeking advice from legal IT experts will help their managers to make early decisions about the best course of action when faced with the risks of potentially outdated or non-compliant products. Taking these steps now could help firms to reap the full benefits of software suppliers which provide fast migration with full support and expertise, meeting the demands of an increasingly digital sector and preparing them for other industry regulations on the horizon both in 2019 and in the future. 21. The Garmin Forerunner 735XT did fantastically well in our review with it scoring 4.5 stars, and today you can get it for dirt cheap if you buy it through Amazon. As part of the retailer's big spring sale, the Forerunner 735XT is down to the lowest price we've seen at £169.99. Originally on sale for £299.99 we've often seen the price drop to around £229, so considering this is around £60 less it's quite a substantial discount on top of what we've already seen it drop to. You've got the choice of black or mint, and if you have Amazon Prime you'll be able to get it delivered as soon as April 9. You'll have to act quickly though as this is an Amazon Lightning deal so it's set to end at midnight on April 8, and it may end early if it sells out. If you're looking to buy it, click on the deal just below: Our selection of the best Garmin dealshttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/OR2TpbjMM8k

We're super excited to see the Kindle Paperwhite price come crashing down, especially as it's the all-new waterproof version which we think is the best value ereader on the planet right now. So as you can imagine, we like it even more thanks to a £20 discount. That's the best price it's been this year, it was a further £10 cheaper around Black Friday, but we don't expect that deal to come back around until Amazon Prime Day 2019 in the summer at the earliest. Unlike the previous cheapest Kindle, it will now include a backlit screen, just like the fancier Paperwhite and Oasis models. It's £10 more expensive than the older one's RRP too. The screen resolution is still pretty low at just 167ppi compared to the Paperwhite's far clearer 300ppi. This model is out in a few days' time for £69.99, but we'd seriously recommend going with this Paperwhite deal instead thanks to the better screen, slicker design, double storage and waterproofing. And don't forget, a waterproof ereader isn't just safer for reading in the bath, but we feel safer with it when travelling. Especially if you've ever been betrayed by a leaky drinks bottle in your bag!
