Management TheSilencerPL Posted January 14, 2012 Management Share Posted January 14, 2012 The define in the script file is not recognized by the server lib, so it looks like it is not loaded. Please find similar lines to the following ones in the console: 28310 files in pk3 files Sys_LoadDll(/usr/local/games/enemy-territory//silEnT/qagame.mp.i386.so)... ok Sys_LoadDll(qagame) found **vmMain** at 0xb51c001b Sys_LoadDll(qagame) succeeded! ------- Game Initialization ------- gamename: silEnT and check if the location of the qagame.mp.i386.so is the one from silent mod installation dir. This is of course for linux version. Which system do you run it on?
=EMP=Avery13
I run on windows 7.
phantasm
I get this same exact error if I start a home server from a computer running Windows 7. I have to run it from XP (yeah XP I know) if I want to run a local silent mod server. I didn't have the problem from a hosted server running Windows though. Not sure what version the host was running (it was hosted by ems so Hellreturn would know). I didn't report it because I thought it must have been something unique to Windows 7, like a user account permission error preventing it from accessing the needed pk3 or qagame file containing the PPSH animation file. Hope this could get looked at. Thanks.
Management gaoesa Posted January 14, 2012 Management Share Posted January 14, 2012 I'm using Windows 7. This is only an installation issue, not a bug. Moving to proper section.
phantasm
I tried it again just now after disabling the UAC (msconfig -> tools -> change UAC settings -> launch). I still got the same error. So it is not a user permission thing after all. I am using Win 7 Home Premium on my laptop when I get this error. My old XP computers can host a non-dedictated silent server with no problems though. @Avery what version of Win 7 are you running? You are aware that they don't have a windows 7 for dedicated "real" servers? Probably Windows Server 2008 actually.
=EMP=Avery13
I believe it is just the Home Windows 7 version. Either way... it is making me mad that I can't switch it.
phantasm
I believe it is just the Home Windows 7 version. Either way... it is making me mad that I can't switch it. So your host is running on a desktop in his home? I was confused about why you needed to run on Win 7 now I think I see what's going on. You could just run your server from your own house then, and use linux instead. Debian is probably the best version of linux for running stable servers, and it is free. Ubuntu is more for end-users. You might need more bandwidth though to host a big server, but you could run 10-20 players from home with a decent modern high-speed connection with good upload (not just download). =EMP=Avery13
No, the server is being hosted through gaming deluxe in England. I don't have a dedicated server. Litterally the only thing I have control of is the configs and what not. It's just like if I were running a server through gameservers. phantasm
No, the server is being hosted through gaming deluxe in England. I don't have a dedicated server. Litterally the only thing I have control of is the configs and what not. It's just like if I were running a server through gameservers. Well I'm not sure what is going on then. For me I only see this bug when I attempted to run a non-dedicated silent mod server on my laptop at home using Win7. So it is non-issue for me unless I am playing around with maps or pk3 files. I wouldn't attempt to host a game from Win7 anyway. A professional gaming host should be using a server OS not Win7. Maybe you could try again and post the logs so the developers here can see it. =EMP=Avery13
I actually had that set. I made sure it was in my command line. And even executed my silent config as well. Question, should I back up my jaymod files and have gaming deluxe uninstall the jaymod stuff and install silent mod? They should be able to get it working I would think. I actually think I had to ask them to do the jaymod stuff too.. Why did I not think about that?
JvIasterMind
That was the exact same error that I was getting when I tried to install silEnT on Windows Server 2003 (64-bit). I worked with the server host for hours trying to figure out what was wrong. The issue had something to do with Windows being unable to load one of the 32-bit dll files included with silent. It seems that the newer Windows have better compatibility libraries for 32-bit applications. We ended up having to relocate our installation to a server running Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) to get it to work. Through my testing, I had no issues running a silEnT server on either Windows 7 Professional 64-bit or Debian Linux 64-bit.
=EMP=Avery13
Hi Ive tried to install it but its coming up with errors the server may need a full reinstall to work with it. Regards,w00derDirectorGamingDeluxe Ltd. I gave them permission to do a fresh install on the server, but they didn't do it anyways.. lol. Anyone have suggestions on what to do? I really need silent mod on my server, but if it is not going to work, then it must not be worth it. I am hoping this issue gets fixed for the future so that everyone has easy compatibility, because that is what it is lacking now. I have never been able to upload silent mod on my own without help... and by help.. I mean the host had to do it for me.. and that took him a while to figure out. What I am thinking of doing right now is reinstalling my server for a second time and putting everything where it goes. Is there a better step-by-step instruction on how to install it other than what is in the README file? That really doesn't explain much other than how to upgrade your server from an older version. Management gaoesa Posted January 17, 2012 Management Share Posted January 17, 2012 silEnT 0.2.0 and above supports Windows and Linux servers. Quick Install for silEnT version 0.2.0 and above, All Platforms================================================================ 1. Backup old etmain and silent folders if you have them but do not delete etmain folder.2. Unzip the silent.zip found from inside the silent-x.x.x.zip.3. Upload the contents inside the silent.zip to the root of the ET installation. Next to etded.4. Start your server with command line "etded +set dedicated 2 +set fs_game silent +exec silent.cfg". After your server is running============================= Add your rcon password to the command line like this "+set rconpassword ",or change the name of the silent.cfg in etmain folder to something unguessable and edityour rcon password there. Also, visit http://mygamingtalk.com/forums/ to get more help from silEnT developers and other admins. Found in the file named install. You can skip the step 1 if you do fresh install. For the compatibility with windows we can do nothing. It is completely a Microsoft issue if any.
Management gaoesa Posted January 17, 2012 Management Share Posted January 17, 2012 We have confirmed information that dedicated servers run without problems on Windows 2003 and 2008 64 bit servers and Windows 7 64 bit version.

=EMP=Avery13
Reinstalled the server, and added the silent mod EXACTLY how it says in the install document. Command like looks like this:+set dedicated 2 +set net_ip "109.70.148.61" +set net_port "27930" +set sv_maxclients "18" +set fs_game silent +exec silent.cfg Haven't touched the silent.cfg yet. Just wanted to make sure things worked before I edited it. Still not picking up anything on the server. It continues to say it is Timing Out on me. This is what the consolelog gives me: execing objectivecycle.cfg g_gametype will be changed upon restarting. ------ Server Initialization ------ Server: oasis Hunk_Clear: reset the hunk ok ================ MAIN log ================ 268408 MAIN memory in 80 blocks 266808 MAIN memory overhead ================ SMALL log ================ 27708 SMALL memory in 742 blocks 12868 SMALL memory overhead Current search path: c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\silent\silent-0.5.0.pk3 (417 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444/silent c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\tc_base.pk3 (63 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\sw_goldrush_te.pk3 (48 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\sw_fueldump_b3.pk3 (150 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\sw_battery.pk3 (32 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\supplydepot2.pk3 (46 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\supply.pk3 (44 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\sp_delivery_te.pk3 (51 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\reactor_final.pk3 (115 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\pak2.pk3 (22 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\pak1.pk3 (10 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\pak0.pk3 (3725 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\mp_bin.pk3 (6 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\frostbite.pk3 (99 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\et_ice.pk3 (61 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\et_beach.pk3 (177 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\bremen_b2.pk3 (82 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\braundorf_b4.pk3 (51 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444\etmain\adlernest.pk3 (113 files) c:\xxgames\JUSTINB\GameServers\TC05856670112237421444444/etmain handle 1: etconsole.log ---------------------- 10624 files in pk3 files ------- Game Initialization ------- gamename: etmain gamedate: Mar 10 2005 ------------------------------------------------------------ InitGame: \g_maxlivesRespawnPenalty\0\voteFlags\0\g_balancedteams\0\g_maxGameClients\0\g_covertopsChargeTime\30000\g_soldierChargeTime\20000\g_LTChargeTime\40000\g_engineerChargeTime\30000\g_medicChargeTime\45000\g_bluelimbotime\30000\g_redlimbotime\30000\gamename\etmain\g_heavyWeaponRestriction\100\g_gametype\2\g_antilag\1\g_voteFlags\0\g_alliedmaxlives\0\g_axismaxlives\0\g_minGameClients\0\g_needpass\0\g_maxlives\0\g_friendlyFire\1\sv_allowAnonymous\0\sv_floodProtect\1\sv_maxPing\0\sv_minPing\0\sv_maxRate\45000\sv_minguidage\0\sv_punkbuster\0\sv_hostname\ETHost\sv_privateClients\0\mapname\oasis\protocol\84\timelimit\0\version\ET 2.60b win-x86 May 8 2006\sv_maxclients\1 Gametype changed, clearing session data. That is not a possible combination. Usual problem is with the Lua module being misplaced. However, you indeed should use up to date server software. Provided that 2008 is up to date as now it is the year 2012.
