A step in the right direction

For some strange reason XP save isn't working and I'm not clear as to how to go about including sounds/hitsounds/body.wav within the .cfg file, I have the files already in a pk3 but I don't know how to tell the server to use them and how to have clients download them automatically...

 

Take a look at my startup line and config:

If the neither XP or admin levels get saved, it could be because the database files are not written. Could you check please what the server log says regarding the database when the map starts and ends?

For the save period 'set g_XPSaveMaxAge_xp 2o'  this refers to 2 months.

s - seconds

m - minutes

d - days

o - months

y - years

 

I think the period you are using is abit ott as 9999999999999 days is something like 27 billion years give or take.

Maybe change it to something more sensible. I don't know if there is a max time for this data to be stored maybe Gaoesa could answer that.

 

As for the sound issue. Make sure the pk3 file is in the correct location, the silent folder.

If not done so check out this link http://mygamingtalk....p/Silent_Sounds and check that the file names are spelt correctly and that you have not used capital letters in the folder or file names inside your pk3 file.

The pk3 file should get downloaded automatically from your server. but make sure the server has been restarted after uploading the pk3 file.

 

NOTE

 

Just re read your post and if the text there is right you have an 's' on the end of sound which should not be there.

Now I just gotta figure out how to get the custom vsays working and this server is finished being setup!!!!

What you're wanting to do is create a [COMMAND] in your shrubbot file, like this:

[command] 
command = mycustomsound
exec    = playsound sound/misc/mycustomsound.wav
desc    =  
levels  = 1 2 3 4

Then use !mycustomsound  to execute it.

 

This assumes that your PK3 file has the sound in the relative folder shown in the example.

Having a look at your pK3 file, it is rather large.   20MB is a huge download for players, but it looks like you have a ton of WAV and some custom skins/menus etc..  I was concerned that you had the entire silent mod in there, which would be a no-no :).    Be sure that your WAV files are the proper format, as far as I know they have to all be MONO not Stereo.

It is possible, you create a new menu in the 'vsay' list with number 9 or 0...DRi has it on their server, deathrowinmates.net

That's possible. Once upon a time we had appx 60 vsays like that but people get bored with it pretty soon and players like stock ET experience.

 

But off course you can add it, it's doable.

It doesn't work through UI, haven't tested it though via rcon.  I'm still a bit of a novice at this!  How would I do it through rcon?  Maybe you can /connect badmotherfuckers.net and help me out?  I didn't see any error message though!  Thanks for the quick response too!

 

Just checked /rcon and I don't see any option to test whether or not I have appropriately used proper filestructures within my custom pk3 files.  Tried testing /vsay FTFuckYou blah but nothing happened at all! =(

 

 

OH i see you said /rcon <pass> playsound i will try this now!

Also how do I setup (and in which directory) some kind of shrubbot file for admin declarations?

 

This server is boss when those things are accomplished.  I think I've come a long way figuring things out so far!
