  1. Howdy Ray,

     

    I use ETsnitch to view logs, but instead of using the ETconsole.log, try using the games_mp.log instead. I'm using ETsnitch v1.5.0 which I believe is the latest. Give that a shot if you haven't already.

  2. I also think this would be a great thing to have, but I can't even begin to imagine the time and cost to implement it. Also I distinctly remember having lag spikes on servers that had pbss enabled. I could tell every time a SS was taken just by the spikes on my lagometer.

     

    I think a good followup question would be, who would be willing to donate to keep a database server running full time to keep this viable.

     

    If this is doable at a reasonable cost of time and money, it would be a fantastic thing to have.

  3. Thanks for the detailed reply Gaosea. I'm not sure if perhaps you got me confused with someone else. We have never run enhanced mod with Silent. We're running ET 3.00, ver 0.6.7.

    3. I'm not sure what I should check. When I first started having this issue I tried using the sample mapvotecycle.cfg and just ended up keeping it and changing a few maps in the rotation from time to time. Right now I'm currently using the sample cfg that's provided with. It probably is a cfg issue that I've just overlooking but I haven't been able to find it. Here's what I'm using at the moment.

    Been having some issues for a bit that I've tried figuring out some alternative other than a complete reinstall. I figured I'd admit defeat and let some more knowledgable minds give it a shot. I'll try to make the issues as succint as possible.

     

    1. I have more than one userdb.db and userx.db i.e. userdb_v02.db, userdb_03.db etc.

     

    2. My aliases list will suddenly become corrupted.

     

    3. Upon restarting the server. The server will restart itself and then unless I manually exec the mapvotecycle.cfg afterwards, the mapvotecycle.cfg does not rotate to the next map in the cycle.

     

    So what do you think?

  5. I'd recommend checking out dedicated server hosting first. I've used gameservers.com in the past as both a redirect and a game host.They are decent for the most part but generally overpriced for what you get. I also had a period of time where the server I was on got constantly flooded and crapped out. Its one of the reasons why I switched over to dedicated hosting. They use better hardware and I've had very few issues.

    I was just going through my server cfg today and comparing it to the default silent.cfg to remove any unused cvars that may have been missed and noticed there were a few cvars in the distributed Silent.cfg that were missing and appear to still be in use.

     

    I figured there was a reason they weren't in there..but just in case here's what I came across.

  7. They do indeed have a file replaced in the silent 0.6.3.pk3

     

    They replaced the Silent watermark with one of their own as far as I can see. The voting also seemed to be having an issue. Quick question for you H20, are you using LUA or non-lua qagame.mp.i386 file? If you are using the LUA file, are you sure your using the correct version of LUA on startup? I've seen that cause some strange issues on NQ that were similar.

  8. I'm not even sure this is possible, but I thought it might be helpful to have either a client side or client adjustable command that could enable/disable the incognito mode.

     

    Some possible scenarios for this I can see being used would be if a suspected hacker enters, an admin could quietly remove his admin from the !list and rename using a name changer. This could also make it easier for admins to hide in plain sight while giving evidence if needed that they were indeed an admin.

     

    I can see some downsides for a command like this but I wanted to get more opinions on wether or not this would be feasible to do or if it was even a wanted option.

  9. I'm not sure what is the expected behaviour but the host game startup does work if the server dll is placed to the folder.

    I used to be able to host a local game by simply using whatever client files I had downloaded. It was an easy way for me to check mod soundpacks etc. I however had not done this in a long time because I use a dedicated test server for testing now. I was just wondering why this error kept occurring. I've verified that you are indeed correct. Inserting the qagame.dll into the mod folder will allow silent to locally host without a problem. Thanks for the help Gaoesa.

     

    I think the same goes to the other mods as well.

    You are correct..most other mods. However I can repeat the procedure with ETpub by using the client side only files. It appears to work just fine.

  10. It's not similar. That one is OS X issue when connecting to dedicated server.

     

    It looks like the cgame is not loaded. You say when startng from the menu. Could you please list the full procedure you use when you try it so we can try reproducing the issue.

    I only say a similar issue because it's giving the same error message.

     

    Here is the process I am using to start the host server.

    1. Click on et.exe shortcut from start menu

    2. From main menu screen, select mods tab

    3. Select Silent, click "Load Mod"

    4. With SIlent loaded, click "Host Game" tab

    5. From host game menu, I use these options

    Game Type: Single-Map Objective
    Max players: 20
    Auto-configure server (tried both yes and no, same results)
    Dedicated server: No
    Password: none
    

    6. Select "Start Server"

    7. Recieve error message.

     

     

     

    Have you copied serverfiles to your silent directory before starting a server?

    I have no, since I am not trying to setup a server but rather host a local game. I should probably make another install using a dedicated server side setup though.

  11. Howdy guys.

     

    I recently tried to setup a test server using Windows 7 and had something happen that I've never seen before. It's actually somewhat similar to what the guy in this thread is experiencing. This is only a test server for testing some models and soundpacks I've been working on and not being used as a dedicated server. Hence I'm execing et.exe and not etded.exe. I'm also executing the .exe as admin.

     

    I keep recieving this error.

    This only happens if I exec the Silentmod from the main menu. If I do a vanilla ET test server it works fine. If anyone has ideas for things to try I'm game to give it a shot.

  12. Making the second Jaymod from silEnT isn't a good idea IMO :(

    Dragon put it best. Jaymod is great for things like molitovs, gas mines etc. IMO this isn't what Silent is about, and so far I've been pretty happy with the results of it thus far.

     

    The PPSH and trip mines were awesome additions to give it it's own style and weapon selection, but I think adding to many weapons that reply less on skill and more on "spray and pray" will make Silent servers ones that not many will want to play. Then again I may be wrong.

  13. Audacity is very good as others have stated.

     

    Another free one and great for this particular purpose is Wavosaur. It's easy to convert batch files to the correct bit/hertz settings. It's also easy to edit tracks. There are several good, free programs like this, you just have to look a bit.

  14. Credit to my clan members T0welie and Swerve for showing me this. I believe this is a bug and should be easy to replicate, however I have provided a demo if anyone wants to view it.

     

    When in any class, on any team, switch to weapon bank 1 and throw all but your last knife.

    Now hold down your +attack2 key (usually Mouse2)

    Now while still holding +attack2, press your +attack key (usually Mouse1)

    You should now be unable to switch weapon banks until you die, which won't be very long in some instances. :lol:

     

    If someone else covered this bug, Please disregard.
