Thing is with Amazon though, it’s not the most user friendly site to navigate. With many different sellers touting the same products all at different prices, it can be a challenge to track down the best deals. That’s why you should check in with TechRadar every day for the rest of the month as we’ll be listing all of the deals that we think are genuinely worth your attention. Amazon is sharing with us in advance all of its biggest deals. We can’t tell you what they are until they go live on the site (sorry), but we’ll certainly be shouting to the rafters each day for every deal we think is awesome! Top 5 Amazon Black Friday deals last year:http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/a153bfdbe66adb078a09dcae31b25d1c.jpg 1. Sony PlayStation 4 (Graded) Amazon was one of a few sites selling refurbished PS4's for £199 which at the time was the cheapest PS4 price ever. Amazon Fire TV Stick Many of Amazon's biggest discounts came on its own 'Fire' and 'Kindle' products. The Amazon Fire TV Stick was £24.99 last year, and it's well worth that price because it gives you access to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and loads of games and apps. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/WFKNx3fkRLoJFWBobNa2SV.jpg 3. Kindle Paperwhite Amazon's awesome ebook reader was reduced to just £79.99 last year - it's Amazon hardware, so it's beautifully made and works really well. If you have an old kindle an upgrade is always worthwhile. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/g5wSPj9Sj8vsKxHKR9oNiN.jpg 4. HD TV's galore One of Amazon's best Black Friday deals was a 42-inch 1080p LG LCD TV for just £295, this was 40% off and a really great TV. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Samsung's excellent flagship phone of last year was going SIM-free for £343.99 on Black Friday last year, a smashing phone even this year and sure to be discounted again - look out for S7 deals too. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/S1f5P21dtLY

Currys is arguably the best place to go for TV deals, and those made up the majority of things it was discounting last year. The classic coffee machine discounts are in effect too, so don't be buying any machinery in advance this year. Last year Currys even made sure that it avoided those problems of stock shortages, and people shouting at superstores by ramping up stock levels by 40%, which says a lot about the growth of Black Friday in the UK. Even so, don't miss out and make sure you check for deals early on the day - we'll be here to make that easier too. During the run-up to last year's sale Currys' Stuart Ramage said "We saw record-breaking sales last Black Friday so, for this year’s event we’ve worked hard to offer our biggest number of lowest-ever deals on a range of fantastic brands, starting today". This was clear from the claim that Currys made about increasing stock levels to meet demand. For customers this is a great time to snag a bargain, but it's also becoming a really important part of the retailer calendar too, which is why they are investing in promoting the event. This year you can expect even cheaper PS4 deals, and look out for bundle deals with games too. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/9RC94nADEiNKM8SdGkwgMQ.jpg 2. This year expect 4K TVs to get some price drops as 1080p screens are dying out. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/GoxShdq9wmndGh3BmBocG3.jpg 5. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Samsung's excellent flagship phone of last year was going SIM-free for £343.99 on Black Friday last year, a smashing phone even this year and sure to be discounted again - look out for S7 deals too. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/6vrmwlgfAe0

Currys is arguably the best place to go for TV deals, and those made up the majority of things it was discounting last year. The classic coffee machine discounts are in effect too, so don't be buying any machinery in advance this year. "This year Black Friday hits on November 25 - be there or be square" Last year Currys even made sure that it avoided those problems of stock shortages, and people shouting at superstores by ramping up stock levels by 40%, which says a lot about the growth of Black Friday in the UK. Even so, don't miss out and make sure you check for deals early on the day - we'll be here to make that easier too. What Currys did on Black Friday last year:During the run-up to last year's sale Currys' Stuart Ramage said "We saw record-breaking sales last Black Friday so, for this year’s event we’ve worked hard to offer our biggest number of lowest-ever deals on a range of fantastic brands, starting today". This was clear from the claim that Currys made about increasing stock levels to meet demand. For customers this is a great time to snag a bargain, but it's also becoming a really important part of the retailer calendar too, which is why they are investing in promoting the event. Samsung 60-inch 4K TV This home cinema telly was on sale for just £899 at Currys last Black Friday, another reminder of just how cheap tech is these days, but one of Samsung's HDR UHD TVs is a great buy at this price. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/fLjtQWocLrEakKfsh7Fhdn.jpg 3. iPad Pro 12.9 Currys also had a nice iPad Pro price drop last Black Friday, down to £799 - not the world's most enormous discount, but the iPad Pro is a great tablet and Apple discounts are rare. At the time it was the cheapest iPad Pro deal out there. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Aiys6hypj8MVtSGcm72qsM.jpg 4. Blenders! Because 2015 was the year of juice, Currys was selling the NINJA Nutri Ninja Slim QB3001 Blender for £39, which was half-price. This year you can certainly expect loads of deals on kitchen goods like blenders and bread makers. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/MK87um8JksQNmKtXWA6aqS.jpg 5. Dyson Animal Another great deal was the Dyson V6 Animal, a cable-free vacuum cleaner that was reduced to just £239 - over £100 off! Dysons are great but they're generally very pricey, which makes Black Friday the ideal time of year to buy one. Currys Black Friday deals to expect in 2016:1. TVs, all the TVs. Expect to see even more deals on those large ultra HD Samsung screens again as well as from all of the other big TV brands. If you're looking for 60-inch entertainment, Currys will have your back. 2. Apple might upgrade the iPad Pro soon, so perhaps more discounts on the two excellent tablets this year? The fact is that iPad sales have slowed dramatically of late so some discounting is almost inevitable to move stock. 3. This year's washing machines will likely see a discount. Keep an eye out for those from Samsung and LG, which offer big features at a low price. Always shop around, obviously, but Currys will be a good place to check first on these ite 4. Last year Currys had big PC and laptop discounts, so expect more of that this year - this is a great time to grab a bargain. 5. If you're put off by the high cost of a Dyson, then Black Friday might be the ideal event - keep an eye out for more low prices on cleaners. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/tFcqQhoMKbWvtS6irLzUU8.jpg Black Friday is now just three days away and the deals and promotions are hotting up on the Argos homepage as well as those of the other UK retailers. The Argos Black Friday sale went live on Saturday and similar to last year, Argos has gone a bit early with some great deals on toys and more. Argos is offering a 'buy now' promise to entice you to spend your money all week rather than just on Friday - telling its customers "our Black Friday event offers won't go lower on Black Friday at Argos, or we'll refund the difference". Black Friday deals Quick Links:Amazon Black FridayJohn Lewis Black FridayCurrys Black FridayArgos Black FridayTesco direct Black FridaySo you should feel fairly confident that the deals on offer here are strong enough to compete with those you'll find on Black Friday itself. If they're not, you'll get some cash back! The early forecast for the Argos deals is that most of the tech deals are not that strong - in fact over half of the ones we've checked are still more expensive than the current Amazon prices. We've included the ones we think are worth buying. The really strong deals appear to be on toys so if you want to pick up some toys for the small people in your life in time for Christmas, Argos is the place to be right now. Go straight to Argos toys deals There's also a great deal on the Google Chromecast which is down to just £20. We fully expect more items to be added to the Argos sale throughout the week and particularly on Black Friday itself so we'll keep updating this page with the best offers. "Last year Argos went live with its Black Friday deals one week early and was rewarded with record traffic" Well, it's likely to be things that have been available for a while, and might soon be superseded by newer products. Electronics are the cornerstone of Black Friday and with lots of lovely new TVs and similar being announced in January, November is a good time to start offering deals. It's also worth remembering that with Christmas coming Argos will want to make some room in those stores for new lines that will sell well in the festive period. Prepare yourself for good deals on the stuff that didn't sell over the summer. If you're keen on a paddling pool, Black Friday might be the perfect time to grab a cheap deal. Last year Argos did a really decent job with Black Friday too. It released its deals a week early, but promised the prices wouldn't go lower on the big day itself. It also backed that promise up by refunding any difference in price consumers did notice. What Argos did on Black Friday last year:Last year Argos did some pretty interesting deals on Black Friday - in fact it was going deals crazy for almost the whole of November and December. There's a good one that comes up every so often that reduces a Tassimo coffee machine down to almost nothing - it's usually a £70 discount on the list price. These coffee machines are excellent, and although they lock you into a proprietary T-Disc system, those are widely available and not too expensive. The company also cut the price of GoPros, refurbished iPhones and 70 quid off an iPad Air. This sort of stuff is ideal to hoard as presents for Christmas gifts. Top 5 Argos Black Friday deals last year:http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/UX5e6Xr8V5y5WjoX8D78fn.jpg 1. Sony PlayStation 4 The PlayStation 4 500GB with Uncharted bundle was £249.99 at Argos.co.uk on Black Friday last year. Right now that bundle will cost you £269.99 on Amazon, so you can see this was a rock solid deal you wouldn't be regretting nearly a year later. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7pB6yVjDXB3bSFabEw3u48.jpg 2. Nintendo 3DS On Black Friday last year Argos was selling the Nintendo 3DS handheld games console for £70 - the price of this handheld console has dropped again since then, so perhaps we'll see even better deals this year. It's a lot of fun for the money! http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/g5wSPj9Sj8vsKxHKR9oNiN.jpg 3. Philips 4K TV A fantastic Philips 55-inch 4K TV was reduced to £650 on Black Friday last year, which isn't so surprising now, but with 4K TV prices falling there's sure to be some amazing offers, and Philips TVs are excellent. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/uwkLXpcT6ARNqM4U8tcCyR.jpg 4. Apple iPhones Argos also sold refurbished iPhone 4S phones for just £99.95 in November last year, even then it was an older model but absolutely ideal for someone young or those who don't want the latest and greatest handset. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/qWFDAog7gnh8tmXzMGGDsk.jpg 5. GoPro The GoPro Hero 3+ was going for just £150 at Argos on Black Friday last year and these little cameras are in-demand and really excellent for outdoor activities. The Hero 3+ is not the latest model now but it's still a brilliant action cam. Argos Black Friday deals to expect in 2016:1. PS4 is going to be the hottest deal, that's our prediction. Why? Because there's a new PS4 coming, the Pro, which will mean interest in the older console will dwindle. If you're not interested in VR, grab a bargain on the original PS4. 2. Expect laptops to get the usual price slashing too. There were some nice deals last year and because PC tech moves so quickly there are sure to be some bargains. 3. It's a bit unimaginative. But there will be plenty of discounted TVs this year too. These days 4K is cheaper, but new tech like HDR TVs mean that older stuff doesn't sell as well - this means deep discounts. 4. Samsung phones should see a discount too - with the Note 7 recall the company will want to shift some S7s, so perhaps there will be some real price-drops. If not, keep an eye out for a cheap S6 Edge, one of the best phones ever. 5. Apple Watch - the first generation might get some sort of price drop for Black Friday, with the new model out it seems quite likely so do keep your eyes peeled. YouTube is a great resource for viewing videos, but at some point you might want to download them to a computer or mobile device. You might want to watch them offline, burn them to a DVD for archiving, or convert the audio to an MP3 for entertainment while driving. So what's the answer? Hunting down a YouTube conversion tool would be a good start, and luckily there are plenty around that won't cost you a penny - such is the magic of freeware. It's important to note that you should only download videos when you have the copyright owner's permission to do so. YouTube's terms of service explicitly prohibit unauthorised downloading. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/684e36528eca45e1971880b3630342db.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/b38d805e4cc9e734c0f16ee3f34e0d1b.jpg 1. aTube Catcherhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Z3NPEW36KgeQUzUqXReN6.png Download and convert videos to play on your PC, mobile device or console aTube Catcher is an appropriately named YouTube conversion tool that will catch any video downloads you throw its way before converting them to your chosen format. It supports AVI, FLV, MOV, WMV, MPG and MP4, in addition to less common formats such as PSP, which is used for Sony's handheld games console. The installation process is speedy, and once up and running you'll be presented with a colourful Windows 10-like grid that clearly presents the available options. From there you can dive straight into aTube Catcher's video conversion utility for converting to another file format, or convert the soundtrack to an MP3 for audio playback. Once you've chosen a format, drag in the files you want to convert and right-click 'Start' to set them going. You can prioritize certain clips to have them converted first, or simply leave it to work on the queued files from top to bottom. It’s available for a special launch price of £29.99/US$39.99 (about AU$55) until 24 November. Its launch comes hot on the heels of the release of Serif Affinity Photo for Windows as a public beta. The Photoshop-alike is available to download free – though bear in mind that there may still be a few rough edges. You can report any issues you discover on Serif’s beta forum. The third part of Serif’s creative trinity – Affinity Publisher – is due for release on Windows next year. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg The best free photo editor 2016Whatever your level of expertise, there's a free photo editor that will give you all the tools you need to make your pictures look amazing. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Z3NPEW36KgeQUzUqXReN6.png Media file formats are rather like measuring spaghetti or trying to insert a USB device: no matter what you do, you’re doing it wrong. If you’ve ever had a PNG when you needed a JPG, or wished for an MP4 when all you have is a WMV, Format Factory is the tool for you. Why you need itEverybody who uses media files needs a decent file converter, and Format Factory is particularly good for people using photos, music or video files. You can convert music files to or from MP3, WMA, OGG, AAC, WAV and more, video to or from MP4, 3GP, AVI, WMV, SWF and others, and convert images from or to JPG, BMP, PNG, TIF and even Google’s WebP format. You can rip music directly to an audio file, and rip unprotected DVDs to video. It’s particularly useful if you want to convert files to run on phones and other mobile devices, with support for 3GP and various other mobile video formats. This would all be for naught if the interface were confusing or complex, but it isn’t: Format Factory isn’t the prettiest, but it’s simple and straightforward. It’s a good tool to have in your programs folder. Download here: Format Factory http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/software-news/~4/GXv7kC9bE6g

The Amazon Echo is great for quickly getting small bits of information, playing songs, or listening to the radio, but we’ve also found it’s a useful accompaniment for cooks since it allows you to quickly set a timer without having to touch your phone with your grubby hands. While this timer functionality has certainly been helpful, we can’t help but think that Alexa has more to offer as a cooking aide. Now, a new Skill developed by the cookery website All Recipes is about to deliver on this promise, and will be able to talk you through entire recipes without you ever having to take your phone out of your pocket. Skill poppingThe ‘skill’, which is what Amazon’s taken to calling apps made for its smart assistant, allows you to search for recipes based on ingredients or recipe title, and you can also filter recipes by cook time. You can have the skill text ingredients to your phone before you head out to the shop, and it will also offer you step-by-step instructions while you’re cooking, giving you the information you need without having to get your phone’s screen covered in flour (or meat, or water, or egg). However before you rush out and buy a bushel of Amazon Echo Dots, it seems that for now the skill is US-only. So far we haven’t been able to verify that the skill is available in the UK’s Alexa app, and all the recipes shown in the trailer appear to be American, with quantities given as volumes rather than weights for example. We’re hoping that the skill is successful enough for All Recipes to make it available worldwide in the future, but this raises an interesting question about how developers are able to monetize their Alexa skills. We have contacted Amazon for clarification on how developers are able to monetize their Alexa skills, and we’ve contacted All Recipes for more details on international availability of the skill. TVs were reduced too, although not as dramatically as some retailers and you could nab other things - like printers - cheap too. Best deal last year was on a Samsung Quantum Dot TV with an £880 discount - crikey! Top 5 Tesco Black Friday deals from 2015:http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yjFRXyfxbbBNk35Pj6cwe7.jpg 1. Big home cinema TVs The massive 60-inch LCD TV from Samsung got an equally massive price drop from £2300 to £1420 - a great TV and Quantum Dot TVs are superb for deep blacks and rich colour. Expect more deals like this on Black Friday this year! http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/RPr9SGth5kHjsWta6jkpoB.jpg 2. Sony PS4 bundle deals PS4 with CoD Black Ops III was £289 on Black Friday last year and you got FIFA 16 free - console bundle deals are always hot in Black Friday week and this year there are new consoles coming, so deals will be even better. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/P5mRnFgaefvCec8FDtCU3G.jpg 3. Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Amazon's brilliant Kindle Paperwhite was down to £79.99 at Tesco Direct on Black Friday last year, always a great christmas gift this one, and a great price. Kindles are great for reading especially when you are away from home. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/S8nKuLKhmY6tf4aoCDSr3K.jpg 4. Fitbit Charge The Fitbit Charge is one of the best and simplest fitness trackers out there, last year Tesco dropped to to just £49 a steal, make sure you run away with it fast. This year the Fitbit Charge 2 is selling well so you could expect some decent discounting. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/UKGBsjJCmyKaBFpHCQLvMP.jpg 5. Navitech Apple watch dock Apple Watch owners got £14 off a Navitech Apple Watch charging dock last year on Black Friday, a smashing deal at the time. Apple Watch accessories like straps are prime fodder for price drops during Black Friday. Tesco Black Friday deals to expect in 2016:1. As with a lot of retailers, expect a cheap deal on the PS4. The old model has been replaced with the Slim and Pro models, so stock will need to be cleared - bundles offer the best value and snag you a game or two. 2. Expect another round of deals on the Amazon Kindle, the company has updated them again so the old stock needs to go. 3. Last year's insane TV deal is likely to get another outing. Entry-level 4K TVs will cost meer hundreds, with high-end models coming in with massive discounts too. 4. It's reasonable to expect some of Tesco's summer toys for kids will get a massive price drop too - need a trampoline? This is likely the time to buy, and they're great even in the winter. Paddling pools less so. 5. New Apple Watch and iPhone mean there may be reductions on the older models, Tesco has its own mobile network, so deals are quite likely. How to find the best Tesco Black Friday deals:We'll take you through all the different Tesco options. If we hear about in-store deals, we'll post them. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/bnS3S478FMjKGC2hcaESb8.jpg John Lewis doesn't particularly like Black Friday. It would rather not have to discount products it would be selling anyway in the run up to Christmas. But guess what? Black Friday is Black Friday and that means you've got to be in it to win it! What's more, John Lewis has a famous policy of "never knowingly undersold" which means if one of its competitors - Amazon, Currys, Argos, Tesco etc - discounts a product it also sells, it will automatically match the price. John Lewis Black Friday quick linksJohn Lewis Black Friday homepageTechnology offersHome appliance offersGames consolesTV dealsAll offers at John LewisTablet and laptop offersHome cinema offersCamera offersThe extended warranties, reliability and customer service you get with John Lewis makes it an ideal place to shop at this time of year. And because Currys, Argos and Amazon have already launched their Black Friday sales, John Lewis is price matching in earnest. We're listing the best John Lewis Black Friday deals currently live on the site, and we'll be updating daily to point you towards the best bargains. The best John Lewis Black Friday deals 2016Samsung 60-inch TV: if you want an awesome and massive TV from a good brand but want to pay as little as possible, this one is a good option. It's HD rather than 4K but it's going for just £699 TV and soundbar bundles: save up to £375 when you buy a TV and a soundbar at the same time with prices from £674.95 Sony PS4: Get the PS4 Slim 1TB with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for £279.99 (price match) 4K Blu-ray: Get the Samsung UBD-K8500 4K UHD Blu-ray player for £329 and get three free Ultra HD Blu-ray movies We'll update this list once we've had more time to dig through the deals! What John Lewis did on Black Friday last year: One of the big deals last year was on an OLED TV. This is really worth looking into again this year, because OLEDs are stunning, but expensive. If you can snag one for a massive reduction, then we'd urge you to go for it. Also look out for good deals on laptops, tablets and computers - John Lewis is a smashing place to get computers and the like because of their generous warranty terms. Top 5 John Lewis Black Friday deals from 2015: http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/qyQaRbDizAN7sKwLbKPBoW.jpg 1. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 This is still Samsung's flagship Android tablet and ranks highly in our list of the best Android tablets. It was down £50 to £299 last year at John Lewis - that's now the standard price so we'll likely see an even better deal this year. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ozGCwjc9j3EqSb65kUbWo5.jpg 2. LG 65-inch OLED TV Those who covet OLED got a good deal last year - £1000 off, down to £2999. That was still expensive, but this is just about the best quality picture you can get on a TV and likely worth the money - if you have it. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/6ngReJcHihP6jKmcVnxHcC.jpg 3. Bose QC20 noise cancelling headphones These headphones are the darling of many tech reviewers for their amazing noise cancellation and sound quality, John Lewis knocked £110 off the price, down to £149.50. Look out for more deals like that this year. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/wAozv5MjAJ2fzYtouFwPGL.jpg 4. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Every version of the Surface Pro 3 was reduced to £929 with a two year warranty. This was a great machine then, and still is today. A good saving makes it even more attractive though today John Lewis only sells the Surface Pro 4. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ScSbWp6BXzFBfnWvh8NoMU.jpg 5. Withings Activité This wearable was reduced by 25% down to £240 - one of the truly beautiful and smart watches on the market. There have been a lot of smartwatch releases since then so expect a good variety of deals from John Lewis and others this year. John Lewis Black Friday deals to expect in 2016: 1. Perhaps the Surface Pro 4 will see a big discount in 2016 - if not, expect even better pricing on the Surface Pro 3. 2. Another big OLED deal? With LG's TVs winning plaudits for their picture quality it's worth trying to snag a bargain, but this isn't going to be cheap, even in the sale. 3. Expect another good deal on a coffee machine. If you're blessed with children then you also need the blessing of incredibly good espresso. 4. John Lewis is a popular destination for iPad and tablets, so there will likely be some discounts here, don't expect massive cuts on Apple hardware, but there will be savings. 5. Dyson - this was a huge area last year, so perhaps some more generous discounts in 2016 - plus there's a lot of margin on these items that can give generous price reductions. How to find the best RETAILER Black Friday deals:As with all the major retailers, we'll be keeping a close eye on what John Lewis has on offer during the Black Friday period this year. We'll do the hard work to find the deals that we think you'll love, so keep an eye on this page, and pop over to the others for Currys, Amazon and Argos. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/yiVdSsJvvME

http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Z3NPEW36KgeQUzUqXReN6.png There are stacks of open source programs for word processing and other office tasks, but what about the big daddy of computer publishing, the desktop publishing app? Say hello to Scribus, which has high-end features without the high-end price tag. Or any price tag, come to think of it. It works with XML and OpenDocument formats, Word, PDF and others, and it’s suitable for most languages other than Arabic and other, similar writing systems. That’s supported via third-party apps. Why you need itDTP is much more demanding than word processing or throwing together a quick flyer, and professional publishing needs much more powerful tools than a typical home-focused editing program offers. Scribus has been in constant development for 13 years and its powers include professional typesetting and colour management (but not Pantone colours due to licensing, although you can add Pantone yourself) as well as online publications such as interactive forms and PDFs. It’s an astonishingly powerful piece of software, with an interface that looks and feels like a program with an astonishingly high price tag. The only real niggle is that Scribus can’t open or save the files of other desktop publishing apps, so if you have a huge library of InDesign or Quark projects updating them could take some time. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/tFcqQhoMKbWvtS6irLzUU8.jpg The Argos Black Friday sale is now on! Just like last year, Argos has launched its Black Friday deals section on Saturday afternoon and TechRadar is listing all of the best offers. Again like last year, Argos is offering a 'buy now' promise - telling its customers "our Black Friday event offers won't go lower on Black Friday at Argos, or we'll refund the difference". So you should feel fairly confident that the deals on offer here are strong enough to compete with those you'll find on Black Friday itself. If they're not, you'll get some cash back! The early forecast for the Argos deals is that most of them are not that strong - in fact over half of the ones we've checked are still more expensive than the current Amazon prices. The ones we found to be cheaper at the time of writing we've listed below, along with links to the landing pages so you can dig a bit deeper yourself. We fully expect more items to be added to the Argos sale throughout the week and particularly on Black Friday itself so we'll keep updating this page with the best offers. The best Argos Black Friday deals 2016:On this page we're listing what we think look like the best Argos Black Friday deals. Obviously some of the deals are better than others so we're picking through them in order to surface the best offers. Argos Black Friday quick links:Argos' best dealsTechnology dealsToys dealsHome dealsHealth and Beauty dealsGifts and Gadgets dealsAll the deals you've seen on TVElectronicsSee all electronics deals in the Argos Black Friday sale Android phone: Pick up the awesome LG G4 smartphone for £50 cheaper than anywhere else - it's down to £249.95 Android phone: Get the Sony Xperia E5 smartphone for less than £100 - it's down to just £99.95 which is an awesome price! Android tablet: Argos is selling the Bush Spira 10-inch Android tablet for a £70 discount. It comes in silver and with 32GB storage and it's down to just £79.99 Cheap 4K TV: If you're after a cheap 4K TV, Argos has discounted two options from Hitachi. It has a 48-inch model going for just £349.99 and a 55-inch version on sale for £449.99. Obviously these TV's aren't going to be leaders in picture quality but you can't argue with those prices. HP laptop bundle: Pick up this red HP 15-ay020na laptop with a laptop bag, a mouse and a copy of McAfee for £269.99. It's going for the same price on Amazon at the moment - but without the extra bits thrown in. Windows phone: Pick up the Microsoft Lumia 550 smartphone which has been reduced to £49.99 Soundbar: need a super cheap soundbar to make your TV sound a bit better? How to find the best Argos Black Friday deals: To locate all of the best Argos Black Friday deals this year, stay right here on TechRadar. We've got you covered for the very best deals. We are quite literally scouring the net to get you the lowest prices on everything we think you might want. We'll be using this page to keep you updated so do a bookmark (are bookmarks still a thing?) and keep checking back as Black Friday approaches. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/zr6TJPy42yI

The way companies present and market themselves has changed radically over the last few years. With more consumers using internet-connected devices, digital marketing has become a crucial area of business management. Any modern business that wants to get messages out to customers successfully can’t afford to neglect the power of technology. Traditional methods like printing and distributing leaflets have become almost obsolete. These are the best free email clients of 2016There’s so much more you can achieve by sending company brand and product information through email. Not only can you do this at the relevant points in time – to coincide with things like sales and discounts – but you benefit from the fact that so many people have email accounts. According to the Radicati Group, there are something like 2.5 billion email users around the world these days, up from 1.9 billion in 2009. This number is expected to grow to 2.9 billion by 2019. There’s obviously a lot of potential here, but to succeed, you’ll need the right email marketing software. And that’s exactly why we’ve highlighted the best offerings here. We discuss whether your business should only allow encrypted emailhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vJzrrW86VWJWafWacWAjfZ.jpg Bronto is one of the best email marketing software packages out there, providing you with easy-to-use commerce marketing automation for your business needs. It’s targeted specifically at retail companies, integrating specialist services such as Magento and Netsuite. Using the system, you can manage a database of customer email addresses and send personalised campaigns to target specific customers at the right time. So if you’re running a sale on baby clothes, then you can target customers who have just had children or have bought baby items in the past. The software is aimed at medium-sized and enterprise organisations, and it’s already used by major retailers like Trek and Lucky Brand. You can sign up for Bronto herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oTBeBfuUuMNuDUtsd6u8ZZ.jpg CommuniGator is another well-respected company that offers email marketing and automation software for small and medium-sized businesses. The firm’s Gator Express tool lets you put together an email campaign within a matter of minutes, and you don’t need to have any coding or design skills. It offers a suite packed with expert-designed templates to ensure you have a campaign that looks good, plus there’s a drag-and-drop editor, so you can easily add different elements based on the type of campaign you’re working on. Every email is designed to be well-presented on mobile devices, and you have the option to send emails to a specific audience or customer group. You can sign up for Gator Express herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/t3B4AjxUFG2YWMj3hE3bXZ.jpg Even if you haven’t used email marketing software before, you’ve more than likely heard of MailChimp. Launched in 2001, it’s a veteran and leader in this arena, allowing users to create and send professional marketing emails to a database of customers. Like many other products, there’s a built-in designer that offers a selection of templates which can be edited to your tastes. You can add elements like clickable text, graphics and logos, and there’s also the option of designing your own email from scratch if you have the requisite coding skills. MailChimp does well on the integration front, too, especially for online retailers. You’re able to link the system up to services such as Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento to send targeted product campaigns. Once you’ve unleashed your campaign, you can analyse its performance via the report feature. The software is free-to-use, although there are premium business packages which you'll need to purchase. You can sign up for MailChimp herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3q8vBMH5WeVaNfgji9FGgZ.jpg Mapp Digital, which was created by BlueHornet Networks and TeraData, provides companies of all sizes with a package of tools for online marketers, covering crucial areas such as email, social, mobile push and web marketing. With email marketing in mind, Mapp offers an easy-to-use dashboard that lets companies design and execute successful campaigns. The emphasis is on ensuring emails are customer-centric, with plenty of regard for brand image and generating meaningful results from audiences. More than 3,000 companies are using the software, including big firms like Puma, PepsiCo, KFC, Thomas Cook, Xerox, Lloyds Bank, TSB and more. However, it’s just launched a new easy-to-use, web-based app that lets you quickly upload, edit, publish and share assets. Editor offers businesses a way to find images and graphics for highly visual email campaigns, and there’s certainly no shortage of pics to choose from. The database recently surpassed 100 million images, covering a diverse range of categories. Shutterstock Editor offers professionally designed templates, and lets you search for high-quality images, edit photos and illustrations using a range of tools, personalise designs by uploading a logo, and publish your creations on social media. You can sign up for Shutterstock Editor herehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/nm7vAshzs4xFhVD7QZPMgZ.jpg Campaign Monitor is a web-based platform, like many of the other offerings listed here, and it sports a professional-grade email builder that lets you create fully branded and personalised messages for customers. All emails are tailored to work well on a variety of different screen sizes and resolutions. Once you’ve created a campaign, you’re able to send it to a list of subscribers automatically, or schedule it to go out at a set time. For example, if you have a Black Friday sale, you can schedule a campaign to go out in the early hours so customers are informed of certain deals with the maximum notice. There’s handy list management facilities here, too, letting you manage all your customer emails and arrange them into target segments. The service is extremely popular, with over two million users from 200,000 businesses worldwide. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Z3NPEW36KgeQUzUqXReN6.png Speccy is another tool from Piriform, whose CCleaner system cleaning utility we’ve raved about for years. It’s a system information tool for Windows, and when you first run it it tells you about your PC in exhaustive detail - so for example it doesn’t just tell you what CPU you have and how fast it is, but also how hot it’s running and what architecture it uses. And that’s just the summary. Speccy offers much more than that. Open up the CPU section and you’ll see details of core and bus speeds, cache size, clock multipliers and anything else you might conceivably want to know. Why you need itThey say that knowledge is power, and there’s certainly lots of knowledge here. One of Speccy’s most useful features is its ability to read your hard disk’s SMART data, which can give you early warning of a hard disk failure. But all the information here is interesting, especially if you want to run benchmarks to see how your system compares with PCs running similar hardware. The app is compatible with Windows from Windows XP to Windows 10 and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, but Windows RT isn’t supported. Top 5 Currys Black Friday deals from 2015:http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/VfS5rZKWwaNgdY3GqZnvDL.jpg 1. HP 15-ac151sa 15.6-inch This decent laptop was going for just £200 at Currys last Black Friday - if you're old like us then you'll remember when laptops cost thousands - great deal on a nicely specified machine that comes with Windows 10 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/6R2pzwi9hMvNeLSk9q8eka.jpg 2. Hear the word 'torrent' and you probably think of piracy, but the technology can be used perfectly legally to share open source, public domain and copyright-free movies, software, books, music, podcasts and much more. It's also gaining traction as a legitimate way for artists to distribute their work; companies including Blizzard Entertainment and CCP Games have chosen to use torrents to distribute content legally. The key benefit of using torrents is that the file you want can be downloaded from several locations at the same time, speeding things up dramatically. If you want to download in this way, you'll need a torrent client. Here, we'll show you how to use one of the best: uTorrent (also known as µTorrent). http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/rkq56wHwYyVAcdY5HtwrcD.jpg uTorrent is free to download and use. The installer contains some potentially unwanted software, so read each step carefully and uncheck the box beside anything you don't want1. Get uTorrenthttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Z3NPEW36KgeQUzUqXReN6.png The first thing you'll need to do is to grab uTorrent, which is completely free to download and use. Double-click the executable file to start the installation and click 'Next' on the following two screens. Click 'I agree' after reading the license agreement, then click 'Next'. You should leave the option to create a firewall rule checked, then decide whether to have uTorrent run at startup before clicking 'Next'. uTorrent's installer include adware, so click 'Decline offer' to avoid installing it, and repeat for any other offers that appear. Click 'Finish' to complete the process. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/tF5xpLVW4hadkxrrdSxSdD.jpg 2. Find a sourceNow you need to find a source of torrents. There are lots of legal options, such as The Internet Archive, where you'll find an extensive collection of music, software, TV shows, movies, books and more, all available free and legally. For this tutorial, we're going to see what Charlie Chaplin movies are available from the Charlie Chaplin Festival collection. On the page for the movie, you'll see a 'Torrent' link. Click this and download the .torrent file. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/tspemKwWgLBWPDX5aJebdD.jpg You don't have to download all the files in a torrent; pick and choose the ones you want and decide where they should be saved3. Select your filesTorrent files are tiny, so it will be downloaded almost instantly. Double click it and uTorrent will open showing you the files that are associated with the torrent. You'll usually want to download all of them, but can also untick the box next to any files you're not interested in. Use the option to the left of the window to choose where the files should be saved, add a label if you feel this would be helpful, and then click the 'OK' button. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XTQoHpYbh7TRMsiwKzZxgD.jpg uTorrent presents you with a wealth of information about the files it's downloading, including - crucially - the time remaining until each one is complete4. Check the statsSwitch to the main uTorrent interface and select the 'Torrents' section on the left of the program window to see details of all the torrents currently downloaded. You can ignore most of the information here, but it's handy to keep an eye on the speed of a download and the estimate of how long it will take to complete. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hi9cqwSh7oFazdFYCkVPdD.jpg Magnet links are an extremely easy way to download torrents - just click one and uTorrent opens5. Understand magnet linksAs well as using torrent files as described above, you'll also encounter magnet links. These work in very much the same way, but cut out the extra step of having to download an extra file to start downloading a movie or other content. Magnet links can be used to download any type of file, but here we're using one to download the open source OpenOffice suite. The beauty of magnet links is that they're so simple to use; just click the link and uTorrent will open up ready to start the download. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/JqB3qgzRSFdTFdYKesZCdD.jpg With uTorrent, it's easy to prioritize downloads. Just use the arrow buttons to rearrange them6. Prioritize downloadsIf you're downloading two or more torrents at the same time, you may want to decide which is downloaded first. The quickest way to do this is to switch to the main uTorrent window, select the torrent you want to prioritize in the right-hand side of the window, and click the up arrow (repeatedly if necessary) to move it up the list. Conversely, you can use the down arrow button to move a particular download down the list. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/EskTCegxuf4MFmTFnKhAgD.jpg If you want to keep using your internet connection for other tasks while you're using uTorrent, you'll want to manage the bandwidth allocation7. Limit bandwidth usageTo prevent your downloads from slowing down other web browsing too much, you can place a limit on download speeds. Double-click a torrent you're downloading in the right-hand side of uTorrent and the Torrent Properties dialog will appear. Here you can adjust the maximum upload rate and maximum download rate to your desired speed in KBps. Note that if you leave the values at the default setting of 0, all available bandwidth will be used. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XpjytZKadYHuY5Kqsnopd7.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/eKKnGZwHpHHifzGxBarCdD.jpg Seeding the torrent lets other people download parts of it from you, sharing the burden8. Seed the fileUsing torrents to download files is a form of peer-to-peer (or P2P) networking, which means that everyone downloading particular files shares the burden of responsibility. Once a download is complete, it's good etiquette to leave the torrent running so other can continue to download from you. This is known as seeding. When you've done this for a while, you can remove the torrent or magnet link from uTorrent by right-clicking the entry in the list to the right of the program window and selecting 'Remove and delete .torrent'. You can enjoy your downloaded file while you're seeding, so there's no need to wait to watch that video you've been waiting so eagerly to see!. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/software-news/~4/CNHCBgUY2H4

AT&T and Amazon are teaming up to make the Amazon Echo even smarter than it already is thanks to a new skill that will allow the smart home hub to send texts via Alexa, the hardware’s built in artificial intelligence. The feature will be available starting on Friday, but you’ll need to enable it by downloading the AT&T Send Message skill. According to AT&T’s website, the service is only for AT&T subscribers and will be limited to sending texts to people on a predetermined set of numbers which you provide. That means, while it’d be great to have your whole phone book in there – and Facebook contacts while we’re at it – Alexa will only be able to remember 10 numbers to start. “Amazon Echo is ahead of the curve in terms of voice recognition technology and functionality,” said Jeff Bradley, Senior Vice President of AT&T's Device and Network Services Marketing in a statement. “In the tradition of NumberSync, another solution that was introduced at AT&T first, the Send Message Skill gives our customers another easy and convenient way to communicate.” While Bradley is quick to sing Alexa's praises, remember that this is still an AI, after all and is bound to make a mistake while texting. (There's an interesting note at the bottom of AT&T's page that reiterates that fact: "Content of texts sent by AT&T are determined by Alexa’s reading of your voice commands.") While this is obviously good for both AT&T subscribers and Amazon Echo owners, there's not really a silver lining here for anyone who just purchased the brand-new Google Home – texting via AT&T sounds like it's going to be Alexa-exclusive for a while, meaning Google Home buyers might have to send texts the old fashioned way until Google brings its Voice service to its new hub.
