  1. YouTube has been at the center of a great deal of controversy recently, with videos aimed at children said to include messages encouraging self harm, and pedophile rings operating in the comments sections of supposedly ‘kid-friendly’ content. Unsurprisingly, this has caused a great deal of public backlash, along with many high-profile companies having pulled their advertisements from the platform, but today YouTube has promised a slew of changes that aim to remedy to the problem. YouTube bans 'harmful or dangerous' prank videosNo commentIn a post on YouTube’s Creator Blog, the video streaming service announced that it has begun removing the ability to comment on videos containing “young minors”, with “tens of millions” of videos already affected. “We will continue to identify videos at risk over the next few months,” YouTube stated. “We will be broadening this action to suspend comments on [...] videos featuring older minors that could be at risk of attracting predatory behavior”. While some select creators will still be able to retain comments on their videos, they will have to monitor their comments rigorously for nefarious comments, and “demonstrate a low risk of predatory behavior”. YouTube could disable downvotes to stop 'dislike mobs' spamming videosPrevention is the best cureOn top of the manual work YouTube has done in removing “hundreds of millions of comments”, it has also developed a new classifier with a broader scope that helps to automatically detect and remove twice as many comments that violate policy as was previously possible. To cap off the post, YouTube has declared that it has “terminated certain channels that attempt to endanger children in any way” and will continue to do so as they are discovered, in part with the help of users flagging posts. 2. Rumors of Apple’s augmented reality glasses have been whispering in the wind for a while now, and new details have recently emerged thanks to website Patently Apple unearthing a slurry of patents being granted to the Cupertino firm. After filing a patent for a catadioptric optical system – a series of lenses designed to project images into a user’s eyes – in early February this year, Apple has been granted 53 patents, covering its AR wearable, 3D mapping technology, and a more intelligent iPhone Home screen, amongst others, as discovered by Patently Apple. The latest patent filed by Apple, though, details how an augmented reality headset could be used alongside an iPhone or iPad. iPhone XR reviewAR is the future of smart toysAugmented reality explainedFeel the touchThe details in the patent describes how the AR glasses can be used to view “an augmented reality environment” with images from a computer overlaid on top. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5amESd5s6GNASJdQSh7VjT.png Image: Apple The patent also explains that viewers can then use a “touch-sensitive surface” to interact with that environment. This means that the wearable will potentially be able to communicate wirelessly with an iPhone, iPad, or a computer. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/A6Dqx57BA7R8FySBhN247e.png Image: Apple Another patent granted to the iPhone maker describes a "method for representing points of interest in a view of a real environment on a mobile device". Putting that in layman’s terms, it implies that certain indicators could be overlaid into an augmented reality scene, helping users locate items (for example, applying it to the company's Find My iPhone feature, or say, locating keys with a Bluetooth tracking tag) in a space. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/n5KDo7R7rBiwNMhQW5fpmj.jpg Image: Apple While this particular patent doesn’t mention the AR glasses, it does mention a “head-mounted display”, meaning Apple may still use this technology in its wearable. Of course, it's worth noting that all this is of course speculative: Apple applies for a huge number of patents, many of which don’t see the light of day after they’ve been granted. So whether these ideas will be implemented or not remains to be seen. According to CNET, Apple is hoping to release its AR glasses some time in 2020. 3. Samsung has officially unveiled its next flagship phone, the Galaxy S10, and it packs top-tier specs and cutting-edge features. As folks line up to buy the year’s first huge Android phone, they’ll have a choice to make: what color will you pick? There’s a plethora of hues to choose from, but as always, availability may vary depending on where you’re shopping. US consumers, for example, won’t be able to pick up the Galaxy S10 in the Prism Green or Canary Yellow colors. Of course, there’s no difference in performance between the colors - it’s just how you’d like your phone to look. Though people might be more impressed with two hues coming only to high-specced versions of the Galaxy S10 Plus, Ceramic White and Ceramic Black, so phone wonks in the know may give you a bit more respect. But there’s plenty of power to go around in the standard Galaxy S10 and its plethora of color choices. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5ymm8VBMLAfJnWdc7wnVBh.jpg Image credit: TechRadar Samsung Galaxy S10 in Prism BlackThe first Galaxy S10 color is Prism Black, your standard dark shade that looks more like a matte slate than, say, solid black. Expect this to be a popular choice, as always. Of course, since the phone has its signature glossy glass back, some shine and shimmer will make this more eye- and light-catching. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/49RDeawJaUrU6kZpdqLLyk.jpg Image credit: TechRadar Samsung Galaxy S10 in Prism BluePrism Blue is the demure color choice of the lot. Who doesn’t like blue? This hue isn’t bright, veering toward a darker, near-denim shade of the cool color. This is the hue for folks who want a bit more originality than standard black but aren’t ready for more. It also seems to be available in most markets. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5cH9ydBjU5KBBJdX4FG3D4.jpg Technically, the Samsung Galaxy S10e, but colors are identical across the line (Image credit: TechRadar) Samsung Galaxy S10 in Prism WhitePrism White is the outstanding member of the pack, with a pearlescent sheen that seems to reflect different colors depending on the angle it’s held. Combine that with the Galaxy S10 line’s glossy glass back and the color looks like it came from the inside of a mollusk. In other words, don’t expect plain, bright, flat white. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/9KAyd282QCeN5gEZYjurHE.jpg Image credit: Samsung Samsung Galaxy S10 in Flamingo PinkThe Galaxy S10’s razzy option this year is Flamingo Pink, which is a more vibrant pastel hue than Google Pixel 3’s Not Pink or any of Apple’s Rose Gold colors. This is bold without being bright, and it’s a nice signature look. At a press briefing, a Samsung rep noted that Flamingo Pink was the Pantone Color of the Year. While that sounds like marketing jabber, it’s a blessing to finally have phones move beyond the hues we’ve been settling for - your black, white, blue and gold standbys. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/DMz2tLPU2ap55zUteJA7bH.jpg This is a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, but colors are identical across the line (Image credit: TechRadar) Samsung Galaxy S10 in Prism GreenThe first international hue for the Galaxy S10 is a striking green. Like the blue hue, this one is darker and a bit deeper - more of an emerald than something you’d find on a rubber ball. Sadly, don’t expect this to come to the US. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7GtGwbVbwxqLGpqbtBb2EP.jpg This is a Samsung Galaxy S10e, but colors are identical across the S10 line (Image credit: TechRadar) Samsung Galaxy S10 in Canary Yellow The Galaxy S10’s yellow option is a surprisingly bright choice for a flagship. Canary Yellow is your standout bright option, looking for all the world like the yellow from a cartoon banana. Once again, US customers won’t be able to pick this one up. 4. While Amazon Prime Day is now a well-established annual bargain-hunting phenomenon in overseas markets, Australia has had just the one so far. That’s because Amazon entered the Australian e-commerce market late, arriving Down Under in December 2017 to an underwhelming response. Despite that, Amazon made every attempt to quickly improve its catalogue of products and has expanded its warehouse network by adding a second one in Sydney. With its Aussie ambitions growing, Amazon finally debuted Prime Day Down Under in 2018, offering some excellent bargains across every category to its Prime members. Read more: Is Amazon Prime worth it in Australia: Amazon’s subscription service explainedAmazon raised the price of its Prime subscriptions in the US by 18% last year, leaving Australia with one of the cheapest fees globally. With benefits including free expedited shipping, early access to Lightning deals, and free subscriptions to Prime Video and Prime Music, it’s well worth considering signing up for Amazon Prime even if it's not just for Prime Day 2019. For free, fast delivery and a host of other benefits, sign up for Amazon Prime nowAustralia wasn’t the only country to debut Prime Day in 2018 – Singapore, the Netherlands and Luxembourg joined the bandwagon as well – making it one of the most successful Prime Days in Amazon history. But was it worth all the hype, and will it do better in 2019? Let’s find out. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/LBFmeAiuq8YkfBa6uyz9jg.jpg Image credit: Amazon What is Amazon Prime Day?Amazon Prime Day began in the US in 2015 as a celebration of the company’s 20th anniversary, with more deals on offer than Black Friday at the time. Today, Prime Day is Amazon’s members-only sale held once a year, historically in July. While it began as a one-day sale, 2018 saw the offers last for 36 hours. To make the most of Prime Day you’ll need to get yourself an Amazon Prime membership which, in Australia, will set you back just $6.99 a month or $59 a year. Signing up for Prime means you’ll have free access to Amazon’s streaming services, including Prime Video, Prime Music and Twitch. Members also get free access to Prime Reading and Prime Photos for all their ebook and storage needs. Most importantly, a Prime membership gets you free shipping on domestic purchases, no matter the price of the product, and free delivery for international goods costing over $49 bought from the global section of Amazon’s Aussie storefront. How did Amazon perform on its first Australian Prime Day?According to statistics from Hitwise, Amazon got over over 3.2 million visits (on both the US and Australian sites) on Prime Day 2018, with Aussies preferring the US storefront despite a ban on shopping from overseas sites after new GST laws were passed. That ban, however, has been lifted, which could be good news for Australian shoppers this year. Data from Hitwise shows that Aussie shoppers searched for mobile phones and game consoles the most in the lead up to Prime Day 2018, with Amazon’s own Echo and Kindle products amongst the 10 most viewed items on Prime Day itself. The high volume of visits resulted in a nice number of sales for the e-commerce giant with a conversion rate of 7.77%, the highest rate that any top Australian retailer has reached. Prime Day 2018 earned Amazon a whopping US$1 billion in sales. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ec59465937c13562bd597d5220fbca91.jpg Image credit: Amazon Prime Day 2018: the best-sellers from last yearPrime Day 2018 saw Amazon sell over 100 million products around the world and over one million smart home devices – not just Amazon ones but Philips Hue lights, Hive thermostats and various manufacturers’ smart plugs. It was the biggest day ever for Echo devices, Fire tablets for kids, Kindle e-readers and Fire TV products. A lot of the products that went on sale globally aren’t available on the Australian storefront. According to Finder.com.au, Amazon Australia only had about a tenth of the deals offered to US customers and significantly fewer than those available to Canadian and UK members. Where the US typically offered 2,800 deals at any given time, the Australian version only had 340. On the upside, discounts were more generous. That said, Amazon is still relatively new in Australia, so we can hope it does better this year. And despite the low volume of deals available Down Under, Amazon did sell a whole load of gaming consoles, particularly the Nintendo Switch. The latest console from Nintendo had over 71,500 page views, followed by Sony’s PS4 Pro at over 31,000 views, according to Hitwise. In fact, the Lightning Deal on the Nintendo Switch was offered twice and both times saw the console sell out within seconds of the deal going live. Best deals from Prime Day 2018While the Nintendo Switch and the PS4 Pro were last year’s bestsellers, some of the discounts on other tech products were also rather significant. For example, the Xbox One S 1TB Minecraft Bundle was on sale for just $199, down from its usual $398 listed price. Bose’s very popular and excellent QuietComfort 35 II noise-cancelling headphones dropped down to a low of $329 a set, although it was even cheaper over the Black Friday sale period in 2018. Amazon’s own Echo devices saw significant price drops, with the original Amazon Echo smart speaker selling for just $109 over the Prime Day sale, while the Echo Dot dropped down to just $39 a pop. Even the basic Kindle ereader saw a great discount of $30, bringing the price down to a very affordable $79. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/fZJVNZvVrnCSs7uSrKmFD8.jpg Image credit: Nintendo What to expect from Prime Day 2019 in AustraliaAmazon has been expanding its catalogue ever since it arrived on Aussie shores, and we’re fully expecting the online marketplace to outdo the 2018 offers. First and foremost, though, expect to see Amazon’s own products to receive significant price drops. Prime Day 2019 would be a great time to nab yourself the 2018 range of Echo devices, including the All-new Echo Dot and Echo Plus. You’ll also find great offers on other smart home products, including the Philips Hue starter kits and bulbs, and also on robot vacuums like the iRobot Roomba 960. Expect the Amazon-owned, and rather expensive, Ring Video Doorbell 2 to receive a discount as well. With more TVs available on Amazon Australia now, we think Prime Day 2019 would be an ideal time to upgrade your home entertainment system, especially if you’re in the market for a good 4K smart telly. We saw premium headphones receive great discounts on Prime Day last year, as well as over the Black Friday shopping period, meaning you’ll definitely be able to snag a pair of Bose or Sony headphones for less. Amazon has also partnered with Samsung to offer Aussie customers an easy one-stop shop for all of the South Korean manufacturer’s products. We’re hoping that some of these, including the latest Galaxy S10 range of handsets, see a slash in prices on Prime Day this year. And avid readers are definitely going to be able to pick up a Kindle, even the premium Kindle Oasis, at a cheaper price. What does Prime Day mean for Black Friday and Cyber Monday?Amazon has historically prioritised Prime Day over Black Friday – according to Digitalcommerce360.com, 67% of the 2018 Prime Day deals available overseas were lower than comparable deals on the preceding Black Friday. In Australia, though, we saw some prices drop lower during the Black Friday sale period as compared to our first ever Prime Day. Perhaps Amazon was testing the waters, and we fully expect the company to outdo itself during both sales in 2019. But Prime Day is more important to the firm, and we’d expect its discounts to be deeper this year, especially on its own devices. Prime Day: why does it matter more to Amazon? There are some crucial differences between Prime Day and Black Friday. The first is that Prime Day is Amazon’s own day. It’s right there in the name which, of course, refers to Amazon’s Prime membership program and associated services. Amazon doesn’t own Black Friday, and that means ultimately it’s just another retailer shouting for attention – a massive retailer with a really loud voice. Black Friday is a sales event for the entire retail sector. With Prime Day as its own take on November sale period, it makes it much harder for rivals to muscle in on something that Amazon has effectively created from thin air. The second and more important difference is that Black Friday doesn’t create new spending. It just moves it slightly. As we’ve discovered in recent years, the money people spend over the Black Friday period is money they were probably going to spend anyway: all Black Friday really does is concentrates pre-Christmas shopping in the last week of November. Prime Day spending is different in two ways. First of all, people aren’t spending the money they’d already planned to spend on Christmas presents. And secondly, they’re buying mainly for themselves, not for others. There’s another key benefit for Amazon. Its global bestsellers on Prime Day weren’t just Amazon devices; they were Amazon devices that connect to Amazon services. Fire TVs, Kindle Fires, Echo devices, Alexa remotes. Each one of them connecting to Amazon Prime, and each one of them requiring a Prime membership to buy in the first place. So when Black Friday rolls around, Amazon will have a whole bunch of Prime members for whom shopping on Prime is the default, and who might want to enhance their Amazon-powered smart homes with Amazon-branded Black Friday deals. Prime Day means that for Amazon, Christmas now comes twice a year. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/3K_toS6gyY0
  5. While all carriers have been excited about 5G networks, AT&T went a bit overboard by rebranding its advanced 4G tech (delivering ‘5G-equivalent speeds’ via millimeter wave) as the misleading “5GE” (for 5G Evolution), which led Sprint to sue AT&T. In any case, the latter carrier does have plans to implement true sub-6 GHz 5G across its network this year – so what phones will you be able to use on it? Per a press release, AT&T planned to roll out 5G in 12 smaller cities by the end of 2018: Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C. Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Fla., Louisville, Ky., Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Raleigh, N.C., San Antonio and Waco, Texas. In the first half of 2019, the carrier expects to expand this to nine cities in large markets: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose, Calif. Two more cities, Minneapolis and Chicago, have been added to this year’s list. By early 2020, the company hopes to reach nationwide 5G coverage in North America. While AT&T has been pretty quiet about which phones will work on its 5G networks – and when those networks will go live, exactly – but here are your options when they do. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/26U42Tth2LjMB6a9GXneAV.png Samsung Galaxy Fold (probably)Shortly after introducing the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the phonemaker announced it would launch on two carriers in Q2 2019: T-Mobile and AT&T. That’s a serious feather in AT&T’s cap for customers who want to get in on one of the first foldable phones on the market, which has a release date of April 26 in the US and May 3 in Europe - assumedly, they’ll be available then on AT&T. But, there's a twist: the first model to hit the market will be the 4G LTE version. Samsung hasn't announced when the 5G version will launch. It could also come to AT&T, given the carrier's commitment to the non-5G predecessor, but we'll have to wait and see. Network possibilities aside, the Galaxy Fold is big, powerful, and pricey, expecting to retail for $1,980 (€2,000, about £1,492, AU$2,789). Clamped shut in phone mode, the device has a modest yet functional 4.6-inch screen for you to fiddle with (and very thick bezel to the phone’s edges, but hey, the format is new). Unfold the device completely and its inside display stretches to a QHD+ 7.3-inch screen. Unsurprisingly for a Samsung device, the Galaxy Fold sports a Snapdragon 855 chip, but the rest of its specs far outpace most of the Galaxy S10 flagship line announced at the same time. Who knows how much the foldable really needs the 12GB of RAM to function, but its 512GB of storage is certainly welcome. The Galaxy Fold also outpaces all other flagships with an unprecedented (and extreme) six cameras: one above the 4.6-inch screen that usable when it’s folded into “phone mode,” two front-facing cameras poking out above the unfolded 7.3-inch ‘innie’ screen, and the same triple rear cameras (12MP wide, 16MP ultra-wide, 12MP telephoto) appearing on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/PqDgMdkiPA7rrHBhP8NbhF.png Samsung Galaxy S10 5G (probably) At the end of 2018, AT&T announced that its 5G network would support not one, but two unspecified Samsung devices. The second is very likely the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G – especially since all the other major carriers will have it, too. If AT&T is indeed planning to carry the Galaxy S10 5G, it will have a monster phone to peddle. The smartphone will pack everything its coming-sooner siblings have...and more. Its Snapdragon 855 chipset will be the fastest on the market, paired with a huge 6.7-inch AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It will also have the same trio of rear lenses (12MP wide, 16MP ultra-wide and 12MP telephoto) as the S10 and S10 Plus, as well as a time of flight sensor to measure depth. Want depth-sensing selfies? There’s a TOF sensor on the front, too. How much will it cost? We don’t know yet, but given the S10 Plus starts at $999 / £899 (about AU$1,398) with lower RAM and storage, the 5G version is expected to be priced higher. But the phone doesn't have a release date, and AT&T hasn't confirmed it will support the phone anyway, so stay tuned. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ccbDFhV9DBgXHP58Vofkn7.jpg Image credit: AT&T Netgear Nighthawk 5G Mobile hub AT&T first boasted it achieved millimeter wave 5G mobile with the Netgear Nighthawk 5G Mobile hotspot back in October. While this isn’t a phone, the mobile hub will be an AT&T-exclusive for users to hook up to on the go. The Nighthawk 5G Mobile packs the impressive Snapdragon 855 and will reportedly retail for $499. Customers will be able to pick up a 5G data plan giving 15GB for $70/month, according to Ars Technica. AT&T hasn’t announced when it the device will be available, but prior coverage asserted it’s coming sometime in spring 2019. 6. A new report suggests Disney is considering an investment in Hulu, the US-only streaming TV and movie service. If the report is correct and the investment materializes, it could allow Disney CEO Bob Iger to follow through on his plan to roll out the streaming service out to the rest of the world. But, before you cancel your Netflix subscription, a few things need to happen – starting with any proof of the report of Disney buying AT&T’s stake in Hulu being true. Hulu would look mighty nice on the new Samsung Q90 QLED TVLooking for cheap streaming deals? Sling TV starts at just $15 per monthHere are the biggest audio trends in 2019Right now, AT&T and its subsidiary Warner Media own around 10% of the streaming service, but Variety broke the news that it is looking to sell that to the House of Mouse for a potentially large sum of money (around $930 million). That money would theoretically help pay down AT&T’s reportedly staggering business debt of around $183 billion (£138 billion, AU$258 billion) – and, more importantly, give Disney a sizable 40% stake in Hulu. (Disney already owns 30% of the service.) On its own, that wouldn’t give Disney enough leverage to control the future of Hulu. But add in the additional 30% ownership share Disney will own after it acquires 21st Century Fox, and Disney could feasibly own 70% of the streaming service. Disney could own Hulu, so what? This is where things get interesting. During an investment call held in November, Disney CEO Bob Iger was asked about its investment in Hulu, particularly what he would do after the sale of 21st Century Fox was approved. Iger’s response included making larger investments on the content side and a potential global expansion for the streaming service. “After the deal closes and after we have the 60% ownership, we’ll meet with the Hulu management team and the board, and discuss what the opportunities are in terms of both global growth and investing more in content,” Iger said. “But that’s something that we have to do after the deal closes.” While it’s hard to predict exactly what Disney will do when it finally owns a majority stake in Hulu - and how that might work in tandem with or against its own streaming service – it seems very likely that a global rollout could be in the works. Don’t forget about Disney’s other new streaming service, Disney+http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/s0iAxPcx25M
  7. During MWC 2019, Huawei announced not one, but two fresh laptops for 2019: a refresh of the Huawei MateBook X Pro and the brand-new Huawei MateBook 14. However, looking at the two laptops’ spec sheets, they’re nearly identical – save for some key differences. Naturally, these differences lead to some even more important differences: price. Depending on what you’re looking for from a luxury laptop, you could either get shortchanged by some missing features or end up severely overspending. While all of the pricing we have available at the time of writing is in Euros, we expect these general differences in pricing between models to largely translate across regions. So, here’s a primer for both the brand-new Huawei MateBook 14 and refreshed MateBook X Pro for 2019. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xUbJHqn7Fkvt8LWHMWUv6S.jpg The Huawei MateBook X Pro's keyboard webcam. Design Luckily, this is likely to the be the easiest part of this decision, as both laptops are nearly identical in shape, size, look and feel. Both laptops come in your choice of “Mystic Silver” or “Space Gray” colors, and both feature aluminum shells. However, while the MateBook X Pro is built from a single piece of aluminum for each half of the chassis, the MateBook 14’s base is split between aluminum on the keyboard deck and a less-premium material for the base plate. Similarly, the touchpad on the MateBook X Pro is comprised of glass, whereas the MateBook 14 touchpad is smoothed plastic. Luckily, both versions of the laptop feature Huawei’s fingerprint power button. It should be obvious that the MateBook 14 is the thicker and heavier of the two laptops, sitting at 3.37 pounds (1.53kg) and 0.63 inches (15.9mm). The MateBook X Pro, being Huawei’s utmost premium laptop, comes in at just 2.93 pounds (1.33kg) and 0.57 inches (14.6mm). However, as you will soon learn, those differences will be all but negligible once you see what’s inside these two laptops. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yZw4RnhuYeawtN2mpHJVDn.jpg The Huawei MateBook 14 in Mystic Silver. Display Looking at them side-by-side, you might have trouble telling the difference between these two laptops’ displays. After all, both are in a 3:2 aspect ratio, have super-thin bezels and offer touch controls (at the high end, in the MateBook 14’s case). But, there are unique facets to both, some that will affect your purchase decision. The Huawei MateBook 14 uses a strictly 14-inch display with a 2K (2,160 x 1,440) resolution that amounts to 185 pixels per inch (ppi). The screen puts out up to 300 nits of brightness, sports a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and produces 100% of the sRGB color gamut. Meanwhile, the MateBook X Pro’s display remains largely unchanged year-over-year, being a 13.9-inch panel with a ‘3K’ (3,000 x 2,000) resolution amounting to 260 ppi. All around, this is a better display than the MateBook 14 screen, with a deeper 1,500:1 contrast ratio and higher brightness rating of 450 nits while matching the color gamut. It’s obviously clear which display is best here, but keep in mind exactly what you’re getting out of those improved visuals – and whether you even need them. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/NHx6HTJ2MCQ2RpGfpkhBKS.jpg The Huawei MateBook X Pro's smartphone connectivity features at work. Performance and battery life This is where things get interesting because, between all of the available configurations for either model, these laptops will ultimately offer about the same level of performance. That’s because you can configure either laptop with the exact same parts inside. Both laptops start with the 8th-generation Intel Core i5-8265U processor, 8GB of memory and the Nvidia GeForce MX250 graphics processor, while the MateBook 14 and MateBook X Pro start with 256GB and 512GB of SSD space, respectively. From there, either laptop can be upgraded to house the Core i7-8565U processor and up to 16GB of memory. Beyond this, only the MateBook X Pro can be upgraded to as much as 1TB of storage. So, it will be safe to expect similar levels of performance from both laptops. In fact, unless Huawei used a higher-wattage version of the MX250 in the MateBook X Pro, the extra pixels in its display will almost certainly introduce additional overhead and reduce the GPU’s effectiveness. It’s important to note, however, that the MateBook X Pro will be able to make more use of these components in one important way: connectivity. The MateBook 14 has one USB-C 3.1 port, one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port and an HDMI port. These all help make the MateBook 14 ultimately compatible and versatile, but don’t tap into the laptop’s power as much as the MateBook X Pro’s ports can. This is because of Thunderbolt 3, currently the fastest kind of USB-C port with data transfer rates of up to 40Gbps. Depending on the kind of user you are, that speed could come in awful handy. Otherwise, your experience using a similarly configured MateBook 14 and MateBook X Pro will likely be largely the same, save for niceties such as screen sharpness and how quickly you can throw large files onto a flash drive. However, know that the MateBook 14 is rated for 14 hours of battery life under general use, while the MateBook X Pro can achieve just 12 in comparison. Given that both laptops have the same battery capacity, this is easily chalked up to the increased pixel density of the MateBook X Pro display. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xoiuyfAzJsWoZsJnHXRF8n.jpg A view of the MateBook 14's Type-A USB ports. Price While we only have European Union pricing to go off of, these prices are plenty telling as to how they’ll be positioned worldwide. (Unless configurations change drastically, which is highly unlikely.) Here’s how all of the configurations break down at a basic level: Huawei MateBook 14 ((i5/ 8GB RAM/ 256GB SSD/ MX250): €1,199 Huawei MateBook 14 (i7/ 16GB RAM/ 512GB SSD/ MX250/ Touch): €1,499 Huawei MateBook X Pro (i5/ 8GB RAM/ 512GB SSD/ MX250/ Touch): €1,599 Huawei MateBook X Pro (i7/ 16GB RAM/ 1TB SSD/ MX250/ Touch): €1,999 If you look closely, you’ll notice that you can get functionally the same laptop in the MateBook 14 as the MateBook X Pro for a whopping €400 less. Likewise, you can get a majority of the souped-up MateBook X Pro’s improvements within the MateBook 14 – touchscreen included. Of course, you’re missing out on Thunderbolt 3 connectivity and a massively sharp screen in either case. But, you’re also gaining up to two hours of battery life, should you go with the MateBook 14. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ydZhHYQChL7Qs9MhTYcS7S.jpg The Huawei MateBook X Pro Takeaway At first, it’s easy to see the extreme similarities in Huawei’s two new laptops to be perhaps uninspired and cynical. After all, certain companies known for all-aluminum products are also known for intentionally confusing their customers into buying things they don’t need. But, here, Huawei is allowing customers to save money on features or niceties they don’t need or even want on their computer to get the same power that its highest-end laptop provides. So, if you don’t find yourself making much use of Thunderbolt 3 ports or gobs of SSD space, or don’t need quite that sharp of a screen, then save yourself a ton of money with the MateBook 14 and have largely the same experience. If you need any of those features that badly, then it’s going to cost you. 8. With over 1,000 games on the Nintendo Switch, there can be a daunting amount of titles to choose from - and often more than your poor wallet can handle. So where better to start than with some free games. But, with just over 25 games that are actually free to play on the Switch, there’s considerably less garbage to sift through compared to say the smartphone market. Indeed, many either have pretty pristine production values or won't insidiously ask you to cough up cash every other minute, and we daresay a few stand out as some of the best games on the system, period. Who says the best things in life aren’t free? From battle royales to MOBAs to a surprise RPG, we’ve rounded up a list of the best free Nintendo Switch games you can play right now. Fortnitehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/M23Xiv5WEFnUu27RAESRcD.jpg Image credit: Epic Games The biggest gaming phenomenon in the world, Fortnite needs no introduction. This battle royale sees 100 players dropping onto an island where you'll to fight to the death alone, in pairs, groups or in an epic 50 vs 50. Its vibrant, wacky personality makes it a great fit for Switch, while all the hidden challenges and building mechanics make it more than just a game about running around killing people. While forking out for a Battle Pass nets you the coolest cosmetics and silly dances, each new season of free content is constantly reshaping the island and bringing fresh surprises. Even better, its new Creative mode is also free. Warframehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zYy6MKLm9pCxTiafSBRRqR.jpg Image credit: Digital Extremes A super-fast and slick PvE game whether you’re playing solo or with friends, Warframe is one of those Switch ports that looked almost impossible. Indeed, the port was handled by Panic Button, the studio behind the miraculous ports of Doom, Wolfenstein 2 and Rocket League for Nintendo’s hybrid. There may be some visual downgrades from its PC counterpart, but its locked 30fps frame rate still ensures your titular space ninjas are swift in combat whether you’re using melee weapons or guns (motion controls are also supported for aiming). Most importantly you’re getting all the content and updates that this game has seen on all other platforms in the six years it’s existed. Arena of Valorhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/JgT44TX68v72ZjpdWmUjfF.jpg Image credit: Timi Studio Group Arena of Valor is an arcadey take on the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) genre, but also an example of how a game originally made for mobile can shine on Switch, with huge visual improvements and controls intuitively mapped to sticks and buttons. You can play from 1v1 to the full traditional 5v5 battles that include the MOBA staple of fighting your way through a three-lane map in an effort to get past the opposing team’s towers and destroy their core. However, unlike other free-to-play MOBAs like DOTA2, you only get to play with a limited number of free heroes on weekly rotation, so if you want to experiment with all the available classes and unique abilities, you’re either going to have to play a lot or pay real money to unlock them. Paladinshttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/pGmVurp9XewAUt9p9hFrt6.jpg Image credit: Hi-Rez Studios Despite initially launching on Switch with the paid Founder’s Pack, the free version of Paladins is just as worth looking into. The next best thing to Overwatch, it’s a hero shooter you can play in first or third-person, supporting motion controls, and unlike Fortnite or Warframe, it actually runs at a smooth 60fps. It’ll take a lot of play time to unlock all 40 playable champions, though it’s at least good to know that everything can be accessed eventually just by playing the game. But even if you’re just dropping in to casually play matches, you’ll still get a chance to experiment with the roster as its champions are also available on a free weekly rotation. Pokémon Questhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/eGQ4jaPnmAXB8Ai2kxb2wB.jpg Image credit: Game Freak Your favorite Pokémon get the Minecraft treatment in this relaxing game where you explore an island befriending cuboid versions of the adorable critters. For some, it might be too relaxing, especially as you can opt to just have the game running in auto-play during the very simplistic battles. Since arriving on Switch last year, its appeal may have waned in light of the Let’s Go games. Nonetheless, it’s still an enjoyable distraction that’s surprisingly generous with its freemium systems, while the island is made of 12 different areas that can keep you exploring for some time. It just might be better to enjoy in the background while you’re catching up on Netflix. Brawlhallahttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/v2g29F3tdvfKFskCsK6kHL.jpg Image credit: Blue Mammoth Games Yes, Brawlhalla may be an unabashed Smash clone, but it’s also one that you can play for free, and the only entry in this list that you can gather some mates around to play together. As a platform fighter, the principles of damaging your opponents until they’re weak enough to be knocked off the stage remain intact, as is the simple and accessible control scheme. For a clone, Brawlhalla has its own personality thanks its vibrant Saturday morning cartoon art style. And if it kind of reminds you of Rayman, then you’ll be pleased to know you can actually play as Rayman too! While you can either grind or pay up to unlock its 40+ character roster, Brawlhalla generously provides eight free characters on rotation. Galak-Z: Variant Shttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/PZVgcy2bbMBpbGaK8cmdUZ.jpg Image credit: 17-Bit An anime-inspired sci-fi shooter that began life on PS4 and PC, Galak-Z: Variant S is both a sequel and an overhaul of the original’s roguelike mechanics, adapted instead into a freemium experience. Piloting both a mech and a fighter jet, you’re on the search for rare upgrades while taking on genuinely tough enemies and hazardous environments. The freemium system means you can expect timers for just about everything from decrypting relics to repairing your ship when you lose all your health unless you fast-track them with some premium currency. But if you can patiently play it in short bursts, there’s a lot Galak-Z has to offer. Deltarune: Chapter 1http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/uxAN7EQ7hHmbeffbYt5uYM.jpg Image credit: Toby Fox From Undertale creator Toby Fox comes the mysterious Deltarune. Technically, it’s only the first chapter and is being released as a free work-in-progress demo, while future episodes will cost money. We’re going to make an exception with this 'demo' because a) these episodes could be years from happening, and this is a pretty meaty first taste, lasting as long as some of the best indie games out there. While it’ll naturally benefit players who have already played and finished Undertale, on its own it’s still a fascinating and charming old-school turn-based RPG. Like its predecessor, it employs an innovative twist to its battle system, which is party-based this time round. Tetris 99http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/safG5MzqZhJhNjtwcQsKNK.jpg Image credit: Nintendo OK, so Tetris 99 is only available to paying members of the Switch Online Service. But you know what, we’re going to make another exception because it’s just brilliant! Tetris, but battle royale, might sound like an early April Fools joke, however, the classic drop puzzler works absolute wonders when played against 98 other players. Your rivals will appear in miniaturized forms around your screen in real-time, as you frantically drop blocks and clear as many lines as you can to send garbage blocks to your opponents, all while the game speed and a remixed Tetris theme get faster. Tetris 99 is a beautiful subversion of what a battle royale and a Tetris game can be, and for those hooked to crack the final 10 and win, get ready to learn about back-to-backs, T-spins and tumble down a rabbit hole of competitive Tetris pro strats. During an interview with Dengeki Online, Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed development is underway for Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC. Nomura revealed that the post-launch content will include Critical Mode – an increased difficulty mode for hardened fans – and story expansions which aim to fill in some plot holes that may have some players a bit confused. While the priority is to introduce free updates, premium DLC will be introduced later. "I think that free DLC will be issued in the form of additional updates from what I can do, but pay DLC is planning to put out several elements at once as a batch," Nomura told Dengeki Online. "As a result, I am pleased that it will take some time to produce a fee-based DLC, but as soon as possible within the year as soon as possible, I would like the team to undertake the next work." Let's hope this premium DLC means more Disney-inspired worlds to explore... Kingdom Hearts 3 is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. 10. It's been a long time coming, and shrouded almost in as much secrecy as the film franchise's finale itself, but we finally now know when we'll see our first proper glimpse of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The new game by Apex Legends developers Respawn will be showed off an April 13 as part of the annual Star Wars Celebration event in Chicago. Star wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be showcased as part of a panel chat at the convention, which suggests we could get some meaty details beyond a mere trailer for the game. That'd be ace, considering we're not far from the game's anticipated release date of "late 2019". Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order toys are comingHow modders are keeping Star Wars Galaxies aliveStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order detailsWithout even platform information to share yet (though PC, Xbox One and PS4 releases would be safe bets), there's little yet to know about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. So far though we've been told that the game's story will center around “a Padawan who survived Order 66,” set “in the time after the fall of the Jedi Order.” For the Star Wars nuts among you, Order 66 will be very familiar – it's the one decreed by the evil Emperor Palpatine that saw the Jedi wiped out by rogue Clone Troopers towards the end of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. So you can be sure that the mood will be sombre, and the Jedi (or what's left of them) will be on the back foot. Also set to be announced at the event is update details for MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, news on the progress of Star Wars TV show The Mandalorian, and most likely our first glimpse at Star Wars: Episode IX. Well the process becomes even more difficult for marketing and creative teams who now have to waste valuable time and resources searching for the information they need to complete their project. To help address this disconnect, the work management platform Asana has launched a new solution designed to make it easier for teams to manage their entire marketing and design process from start to finish. TechRadar Pro spoke with the company’s CMO Dave King to learn more about Asana for Marketing and Creative Teams as well as its upcoming plans. 12. For a second there it looked like Google Home was gearing up to partner with one of its major rivals in home audio and music streaming: Apple Music. An iOS user noticed that Apple Music had joined the ranks of compatible music streaming services listed on the Google Home app, alongside Spotify, Deezer, Pandora, YouTube Music – and naturally, Google Play. Google Home reviewCheck out the best smart speakers of 2019Apple Music vs Spotify: which streaming service beats the rest? The Apple Music integration didn't seem to be functional yet, but the fact it was appearing on the iOS app suggested the launch was imminent. However, we now have official word from Google about whether Apple Music is really coming to Google Home – and it's probably not happening. As reported by Bloomberg, Google blamed the appearance of Apple's music service on the Google Home iOS app as a bug, caused by confusion with the Google Assistant AI – which does work with Apple Music (say through a smartphone) though not through the Google Home speaker itself. Firing on all cylindersWhile the likes of Google and Apple tend to prioritize their own music services on their respective smart speakers, manufacturers seem increasingly willing to play ball with their rivals. Apple has specifically been fighting a slump in sales for its own HomePod smart speaker, and also brought Apple Music to Amazon Echo devices late last year. We're not ruling out some sort of Google Home integration down the line, as the fact that the bug existed shows just how closely these services work already. For now though, you'll have to make do with other streaming services for playing music through your Google Home. 13. Hold on to your lightsabers: there's a new Star Wars game in development, and it's called Jedi: Fallen Order. The reveal came in a surprisingly low-key fashion during EA's conference at E3 2018, during an off-the-cuff interview with Vince Zambella, co-founder of Respawn Entertainment (of Titanfall fame). EA said it 'made mistakes' with Star Wars Battlefront 2While fans of the galactic franchise have seen official tie-ins in the form of Star Wars Battlefront I and II, the new entry seems to be taking a different tack, possibly focusing on a single-player experience more in line with 2008's The Force Unleashed – but we have all the concrete news and wild speculation you could want below. [Update: Star Wars Jed: Fallen Order is going to be revealed in full at the annual Star Wars Celebration event on April 13, 2019. That's ahead of a "late 2019" release date, meaning we're finally going to get to see what exactly this new Star Wars game is all about soon.] Cut to the chaseWhat is it? A new single-player Star Wars game from the creators of TitanfallWhat can I play it on? It's all but certain we'll see it on PS4, Xbox One, and PCWhen can I play it? Autumn/Fall 2019Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order release dateEA has confirmed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will release in Fall 2019 (so between mid September and December), just in time for Christmas. Star Wars Battlefront I and II were both released on November 17, in 2015 and 2017 respectively, so it's likely Fallen Order will fall on the same date (or in November anyway). Given the two-year windows between each game, though, this may mean a third Battlefront game is a long way off. We do now know however when we'll be getting our first proper look at Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. That'll be at the 2019 Star Wars Celebration convention, with Respawn Entertainment being part of a panel that will discuss the game in detail on April 13 2019. Expect trailers, gameplay details and much more. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/HsAugisBh47Vq7huNUuQ67.jpg Star Wars: Battlefront II. (Image credit: EA) Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order trailersAt the time of writing, there's no trailer, or even any concept art to go on. When there is one, it's likely to be at EA's official Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order webpage – but feel free to stare at the site and drool in the meantime. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order news and rumorsStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order toys Disney has announced that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order merchandise will become available in October 2019 suggesting, not only that the game will release around that time, but that the company expects it to be a title (or series) with a long life-span within Star Wars fandom. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order release window "In addition to Apex Legends, another team at Respawn is set to deliver Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order this fall," EA CEO Andrew Wilson revealed during a quarterly earnings call (via Seeking Alpha). "This game's development is led by the former director of the God of War series, with a team of veterans from some of the industry's biggest action-adventure games. Development is well underway "It’s very far along in development, and having spent time with it recently myself, it plays spectacularly well," EA CEO Andrew Wilson revealed during a quarterly earnings call (via Seeking Alpha). "This game truly captures the fantasy of becoming a Jedi, and we will have a lot more to share soon." We will start seeing more soon "You'll start to see in the next few months glimpses of the Star Wars game and I think you'll be blown away by what you see," said EA CFO Blake Jorgensen during a quarterly earnings call (via Seeking Alpha). "We've played 20 plus minutes of it last week and it is exceptional in terms of its like level of polish depth and what living inside of the Star Wars world is a Jedi and I think people will be blown away by." A Padawan called Cal? According to rumored information from a Star Wars marketing day (which obviously made its way to Reddit) the story will take place roughly five years after Revenge of the Sith and will follow surviving Padawan Cal (via GamesRadar). This rumor also states that one of the game's main plot points will revolve around Cal's mentor figure - a woman named Ceres. It's set after Revenge of the Sith We don't know the specific time in which the game is set, but we've heard that it will take place at some point between Episodes 3 and 4, after the end of Revenge of the Sith but before Luke Skywalker's appearance in A New Hope. This places it after the Galactic Empire hunted the 10,000-strong Jedi Order practically to extinction, leaving only a small fraction of Jedi alive (aka Order 66). With the promise that the game will be set 'in the dark times', it sounds like our Jedi protagonist may be more the hunted than the hunter. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/pmowM5FVDrqGHBbdzLoeQm.jpg Star Wars: Battlefront II. (Image credit: EA) You'll play as a young padawan EA's official webpage for Fallen Order specifies you'll play "a surviving Padawan", technically meaning a Jedi apprentice rather than a fully-fledged master of the Force. Given the dearth of living mentors left to train you, it's possible Obi-Wan Kenobi or Yoda – or some less high-profile Jedi, like Quinlan Vos – will appear in a supporting role. The single-player mode comes first Respawn co-founder Vince Zambella tweeted about the upcoming game, describing it as an 'SP' (single-player) story. While a multiplayer component seems likely, given both Respawn's strengths in the area and EA's focus on online play, it sounds like the primary focus this time could be on a well-delivered single-player experience. I find your lack of faith disturbing It's been a bit of a fallow year for Star Wars, with Star Wars: A Solo Story struggling in cinemas and the negative player response to EA Dice's Star Wars: Battlefront 2 – largely in reaction to its prevalent use of microtransactions – still in recent memory. Jedi: Fallen Order has been handed to a different studio, albeit one that's still a subsidiary of EA. But Respawn has garnered a lot of respect as the studio behind Titanfall and Titanfall 2, two critically acclaimed sci-fi action games that pit players against each other in giant mechanized suits, and which both came with strong single-player and multiplayer offerings. So, while we haven't heard much about Fallen Order so far, it looks like the game is in safe hands. 14. If you want the best in action cameras, you'll struggle to find anything to match the GoPro Hero 7 Black. And today we've found a deal that provides some essential accessories to help provide the best recording experience. The most up-to-date camera of all the GoPro's main improvement over the also really rather brilliant GoPro Hero 6 Black is the enhanced image stabilisation technology. And given the intense nature of most GoPro activities, you most definitely want that. The voice-activated controls are also much improved this time and if you're wanting to show of your skills in real time, you can now live stream with the GoPro Hero 7 Black. As we've seen over on our GoPro prices and deals guide though, the best in new technology doesn't come cheap. Today's offer, directly from the GoPro, certainly goes in the right direction though by providing a selection of free bonus content. Every option provides exceptional value given those accessories cost £49.99 when sold separately and you're looking at around £7-£10 for the memory card depending what brand you pick up elsewhere. So how does that compare to the cheapest standalone price for a GoPro Hero 7 Black action camera? We've shopped around and found it at John Lewis for just £342 instead of £379.99. So yes, that's £38 cheaper, but if you can see yourself getting some use from one of the bundled accessories with the offer at GoPro, then that's clearly the best value option for you given you're getting a £50 item (plus the memory card) for the extra spend. Just want the camera and happy to pick up a memory card yourself? Then the John Lewis deal is the best for you today. Still not sure? Check out our 5-star GoPro Hero 7 Black review to find out why we think this the best in the business. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/hmhed1MMkHU
  15. You may remember Macaulay Culkin as the cute kid who played Kevin McAllister in Home Alone, but it's been three decades since Kevin first starting assaulting burglars trying to break into his home, and Culkin is all grown up. Kind of. It turns out Macaulay Culkin is a huge fan of the ToeJam & Earl series, so much so that he is an executive producer on the upcoming sequel ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove, being funded on Kickstarter. Yes, Macaulay Culkin is officially a videogame producer. The first ToeJam & Earl game launched on the Sega Genesis in 1991, proving a cult hit despite low initial sales. While sequels came again to the Genesis and later the first Xbox console, it's been nearly two decades since the last title in the series. Game Boy Advance: why it's the best way to play classic Nintendo titlesSega Mega Drive/Genesis at 30: the console that made gaming coolBest roguelike games: a beginner's guide to the die-a-lot genreBack in the grooveHow did that happen? Well, Culkin has been pretty open about his love of the ToeJam & Earl series. During a Reddit AMA he revealed that ToeJam & Earl is his favorite series ever (he plays the 1991 Sega Genesis ToeJam & Earl daily apparently), he included the duo in a parody March Madness Mega Bracket as a favorite to win, and even tweeted that he’d rather play it than watch the 2018 Oscars (see below). All this fanboying eventually caught the attention of HumaNature, the studio developing ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove, who invited Culkin to its headquarters to check out an early build of the game. It seems Culkin enjoyed it, as he is now an executive producer on the upcoming sequel. "I'm honored to be producing the new ToeJam & Earl because it is literally my favorite video game of all time," Culkin said in a press release. "Plus, Greg Johnson is the tits!" ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove is releasing for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch on March 1, 2019. Although Now TV and Amazon Prime have a great selection of movies and TV, Netflix is still our firm favourite because it's constantly being updated with such a great mix of series both old and new. February on Netflix sees the launch of a brand new series fronted by OITNB's Natasha Lyyone, Russian Doll, Netflix's first ever dating show, Dating Around, and the release of The Umbrella Academy, an Ellen Page-fronted series based on the comic books by My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way. Netflix has also confirmed that the season three of Stranger Things will arrive on July 4 2019. January on Netflix saw the launch of whip-smart new comedy Sex Education, as well as as the fifth season of popular comedy, Grace and Frankie. The end of the month also saw the final installment of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt hitting our screens, too. In other Netflix news, the streaming platform has now amassed an enormous 139 million subscribers, more than the populations of Tokyo, Delhi, Shanghai, Sao Paolo, and Mumbai combined. There are a few different plans you can choose from in the UK, depending on whether you want to watch in SD, HD, or Ultra HD (4K), and how many separate devices you want to watch on. The current pricing is as follows: Basic– £5.99 per month – With the cheapest membership option, you can watch one one screen at a time in Standard Definition, and download videos to one mobile device. Standard – £7.99 per month – This membership allows you to watch in HD on two screens at a time and download videos to two mobile devices. Premium – £9.99 per month – The most expensive subscription allows you to watch in HD and Ultra HD on four screens at a time, and download videos to four mobile devices. Netflix says that "High Definition (HD) and Ultra High Definition (Ultra HD) availability subject to your internet service and device capabilities and not all content [is] available in HD or Ultra HD." How can I get a free Netflix account? Netflix offers new customers a free month of the service as a trial period – simply choose a membership type and payment plan and your first month will be free. At the end of this period, if you choose to continue watching Netflix, you'll be charged one "low monthly fee" regardless of how much you used the service and on how many devices you watched videos on. Netflix will send you a reminder towards the end of your trial period – if you want to cancel your membership, you can do so at any time during this period and you won't be charged. Can I watch live TV on Netflix? No – you can only watch films and TV series from Netflix's rather extensive library. If you want to watch live TV in the UK, you can try services like Sky's Now TV, BBC iPlayer, or ITV Hub. Is Amazon Prime better than Netflix? The answer to that question really depends on the shows and movies you want to watch. Check out our roundup of the best Amazon Prime Video TV Shows for an idea of what you can watch on Amazon Prime. You can also read our Amazon Prime review for more information on what the service offers. Do you get Netflix free with Sky Q? Mantleray claims that a new series of pills he's created can solve all kinds of mental illness and heartbreak, but there's something much deeper and more sinister going on too. Seasons on Netflix: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/HRrsTB4SDJYrNLJJtNXVrj.jpg Image credit: Netflix Bojack HorsemanYes, Bojack Horseman is hilarious. Yes, it’s the best thing Will Arnett has done since Arrested Development. And, yes, it should be the next thing you watch if you are into anthropomorphic comedy about a once great TV star who has fallen on hard times. It’s all of that but it’s also a pretty accurate portrayal of depression and should be celebrated as such. For those who are worried it may be too dark for them, fear not - there's loads of slapstick humor, word play, and stunning animation to keep everything balanced. Seasons on Netflix: 5 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/jNfN6afK5WQ3VXSYYZcdAE.jpg Image credit: Netflix The CrownIs The Crown Netflix's crowning glory? It could be, as a sumptuous look at one of the world's most famous families: the Royal family. Charting the early years of the relationship between the Queen (Claire Foy) and Prince Philip (former Doctor Who Matt Smith), the show was written by Peter Morgan and, at £100 million, is one of the most expensive TV series ever made. Which means there's enough pomp and ceremony to keep those pining for a Downton Abbey replacement happy. The second season is now on Netflix and is a nice improvement on the first series - it's also the last that stars the current cast, with Olivia Coleman and Helena Bonham Carter slated to appear as the Queen and Princess Margaret respectively in the next couple on seasons. Seasons on Netflix: 2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vvALjMvCCweFSFh2NF5CVb.jpg Image credit: Netflix Orange is the New BlackOrange Is The New Black is back for its sixth season and is a show that consistently one of the best to watch, with its superb tale of life in a women's prison. It's so popular that it is now the most watched series on Netflix - although the makers have announced that the show's next season will be its last. The show has returned for a sixth season and things are looking pretty bleak for the inmates of Litchfield Penitentiary. Tensions and issues with the US prison system brought to the fore. While the comedy is still there, it's slathered with a fair bit of drama and darkness. Seasons on Netflix: 6 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/8QPPyaLUfikNyE3sTcDTbj.jpg Image credit: Netflix GLOWThe long-awaited second season of the female wrestling comedy GLOW is finally here. The Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling have returned and this time they’ve been commissioned for a full series of their trashy, hot-pink, hairspray-fuelled wrestling show led by their coked-up director (played by Marc Maron). The fantastic second season could potentially even outshine the first for its refreshing female-fronted cast and writers, and its brilliant balancing act between empowerment and exploitation. It’s a must-watch. Seasons on Netflix: 2 The best upcoming TV shows and movies on NetflixBest drama series on Netflixhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/gQQfKzuFLQ4SKcCFKnHQKU.jpg Image credit: Sony Pictures Television Breaking BadBreaking Bad is must-watch TV and one of the reasons Netflix has risen to the popularity it has. Before Breaking Bad, Netflix was seen as a fairly decent streaming service. After it got the rights to show the final season of Breaking Bad in the UK, Netflix propelled itself to superstardom. Not bad for a show that’s ostensibly about a high-school teacher with cancer who goes on to sell meth to pay for his hospital bills. It goes without saying, if you haven’t yet spent time with Walter White and Jesse - do so now! But, be warned, the show is as addictive as the stuff Walter is peddling. Seasons on Netflix: 5 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/RGgPbEa67pMAbqKAhHrAKV.jpg Image credit: BBC SherlockThis contemporary BBC remake of the Arthur Conan Doyle classic is dark, funny, and intricately written, and it's brought Victorian sleuth Sherlock Holmes bang up to date for the modern age. With stellar performances from Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Holmes and Dr Watson respectively, this BBC adaptation is an absolute must-watch. Storylines packed with intrigue and nail-biting tension are offset by moments of genuine humor, so even the scaredy-cats in the family will find something to love about this series. Seasons on Netflix: 4 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/NjYBjVULU6DhvJJNkfccJ5.jpg Image credit: Channel 4 / Clerkenwell Films The End of the F***ing WorldAdapted from the comic book of the same name (mins the ***), The End Of The F***ing World is f***ing brilliant. It tells the tale of two teenagers on a journey; both are loners on the run but one of them just happens to be a bit of a psychopath. It's funny, but brutal TV. It's British and co-funded by Channel 4 and there's a fantastic edge to everything in it - and it's perfectly bite-sized, too at just under 20 minutes an episode. It's so good, it's destined to get a second season. The first ends so perfectly, though, it's actually a real shame that this will happen. Seasons on Netflix: 1 (and it needs to stay that way) http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7FCBi8m3wLvCcRLthYdmzG.jpg Image credit: Lionsgate Television Mad MenOn the face of it, Mad Men is about advertising execs - lead by the ever-conflicted Don Draper - in the Sixties but it's much much more. Each episode lingers, taking time to tell its tale, but it's worth the wait. Superb television that you can get caught up in. Seasons on Netflix: 7 Best comedy series on Netflixhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/8jg8TqR6MxpcKF7BQn3isV.jpg Image credit: Netflix Sex EducationThis British comedy series sees socially awkward sixth-former Otis (who lives with his sex therapist mother) team up with the smart and rebellious Maeve, to create a sex clinic for the school's sexually frustrated students. It's equally funny as it is heartfelt, and offers a frank and uncensored view of teen sexuality and the social quagmire that is sixth-form education. Don't be put off by the Americanisation of this high school comedy that's apparently set in a seemingly quaint British village – the temporal and physical ambiguity is what gives this fantastic series part of its charm. Seasons on Netflix: 1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/9GKyS46AQ3YkRyRe9KokaA.jpg Image credit: NBC / Fremulon The Good PlaceComedy is in a good place right now and, funnily enough, The Good Place is a perfect example of that. Starring Ted Danson and Kristen Bell, this off-the-wall comedy focuses on a recently deceased woman who is sent to a heaven-like utopia called the Good Place completely by accident. In order to stay there she goes to any lengths to hide what a terrible person she was when living. Season 1 and 2 have already aired in the UK through Netflix, with new season 3 episodes being added each week in line with their US release. A great cast, clever writing and an original concept make this a must-watch. Seasons on Netflix: 3 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/nyqztH4X9xPfa8MBsYBTBe.jpg Image credit: Objective Productions / Channel 4 Peep ShowAll nine seasons of Peep Show are now on Netflix - and if you haven't seen the show, then you are in for a treat. Charting the rather mundane lives of two flatmates Jez (Robert Webb) and Mark (David Mitchell), the show is a wry look at adults trying and failing to be adults. All shot in first person - hence the name - Peep Show doesn't shirk from sex, drugs and political incorrectness but it does it all in such a brilliantly British way, that you don't mind at all when you are watching some of the most awkward TV moments, including one of the characters serving up a dead dog for dinner. Don't ask, just watch. Seasons on Netflix: 9 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FvGm725auxCTLnHfdu82DC.jpg Image credit: FX It's Always Sunny in PhiladelphiaInitially made on a shoe-string budget, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia first season had a cult following, but low viewing figures meant it was destined to be a one-series wonder. Thankfully, everything changed when Season 2 was eventually green-lit, thanks to some big-time star power. Danny De Vito joined for a 10-episode run that was extended because he loved it so much. He's still in the show that's now in its 13th season, bringing with him huge viewing figures. The antics of Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Mac (Rob McElhenney, the show's creator), Charlie (Charlie Kelly) and Sweet Dee (Kaitlin Olson) won't be for everyone - at its darkest the show's 'comedy' themes range from nazism to drug abuse - but stick with it and this deliciously depraved classic will reward you. Its 13th season has finally arrived on Netflix, and we're happy to say, it's just as funny as the previous 12. Seasons on Netflix: 13 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/M73eXVfTXoip6JteqQVkY7.jpg Image credit: Netflix Arrested DevelopmentArrested Development is one of the best comedies ever made. So it made sense that Netflix would want to resurrect it for a fifth season. The fourth season was funny, but it wasn’t perfect - primarily because most of the cast were too busy to get into the same room. But the first half fifth season brings back some of that Bluth magic, which is full of in-jokes, jokes that run for entire seasons and more, well, jokes, this is essential TV. Netflix has now confirmed that the second half of season 5 will continue on March 15. Seasons on Netflix: 5 (sort of) http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/CaDKycFwvTjFhTtTfh5VRc.jpg Image credit: Fox Brooklyn Nine-NineFollowing the brilliant but immature NYPD detective Jake Peralta, this Golden Globe-winning series is a laugh-a-minute, with plenty of deadpan jokes, physical comedy, and crackpot characters. Although there are five series, you can only find four on Netflix right now - but don't worry, with around 20 episodes per season Brooklyn Nine-Nine is still totally bingeable. Seasons on Netflix: 4 Best sci-fi / fantasy series on Netflixhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/JMCriHcGZSegy52MXivDD3.jpg Image credit: Netflix Stranger ThingsWhen it comes to TV and movies, the '80s is the nostalgia decade of the moment. Whether it's Jeff Nichols' Midnight Special that plays like a Steven Spielberg film, if Spielberg still made films like he did in the Eighties, or The Goldbergs and Red Oaks mining the decade for laughs, filmmakers can't get enough of the shell suits and Sony Walkmans. Stranger Things is another brilliant homage to this era. Leaning heavily on Spielberg, John Carpenter and Stephen King - so much King - the story revolves around a small town, a group of friends, a missing person and a dodgy science lab. Writing anything else would give away the myriad twists in a show that is full of brilliant creepy fun. The second season continues the brilliance of the first and you’ll be pleased to read that the quality has not diminished. In fact everything’s been ramped up - the horror is more horrific, the homages more on the nose and the creatures are, well, you’ll have to find out for yourself but you will not be disappointed. Marling is a blind woman who comes back after disappearing for many years. Her sight is restored and she has a tale to tell. Although there are eight episodes they vary wildly in length - from 70 minutes to 30 minutes. The whole thing has been made to make you feel uneasy and it does a great job of that. Set before the exploits of the Starship Enterprise, the show is filled with Roddenberry characters. But while the original series had shades of light this is a much darker look at space exploration. Sonequa Martin-Green is great as the first officer who has a past intrinsically linked to Star Trek characters of the past - we can't wait to see where this series goes. Comprising six episodes of varying (almost feature) length, Charlie Brooker has concocted another dose of dystopian satire that riffs off everything from Star Trek to, well, schlock-horror The Driller Killer. Before Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker was best known for his snarky looky at the news in Weekly Wipe and his fantastic, caustic look at 'meeja' types in London’s Shoreditch. Now the show has given him superstar status. For good reason, it’s fantastic TV with each episode taking on a different dystopia topic, mostly framed around technology going very long. The third season was commissioned by Netflix and is in 4K, with most of the episodes being feature length. [update: A new Black Mirror movie is here! Rick and MortyRick and Morty has enjoyed an almost obsessive cult following since its release in 2013, and with three seasons on Netflix, there's a lot to catch up on if you haven't seen it yet. The series follows the crazy inter-dimensional adventures of mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his timid grandson Morty, as they navigate both the multiverse and fraught family relationships. Part of it's wide appeal is creator Dan Harmon's masterful combination of side-splitting humor with sometimes devastating emotional depth, meaning Rick and Morty is a series you will unlikely be able to stop watching once you start. A little like an even more adult version of The Simpsons, the series is all about 70's nostalgia, with musical, costume, and cultural throwbacks interspersed with Frank's profane rants at his misbehaving children and long suffering wife Sue. Full to the brim with laugh-out-loud moments, the series is just as heartwarming as it is hilarious - and it's back for a brilliant third season. On top of the pressures on the field, students face problems in the classroom where class absences and the fear failing hit harder than a defensive lineman. 17. All prices are exclusive of VAT When you're looking for the best business broadband service, the one you choose is about more than just price. You need fast, reliable internet, with expert support when it matters most. But when it comes to the price, it's easy to be taken in by promises of market leading tariffs and discounted deals. That's where TechRadar comes in. So that you don't have to waste your time (and, therefore, your money) searching high and low for the cheapest plans, we've put in the hard yards to track down the cheapest business broadband deals in the UK today. Our comparison chart features some of the most attractive business broadband packages currently available, with our choice of the best at the very top of the chat. With different options depending on whether you want the very fastest fibre optic broadband speeds, or simply the least impact to your bottom line. You can use the filters to narrow down the best broadband for your business. Best broadband for your businessWith businesses chasing every customer online, it's vital for your company to have a broadband service that can deliver the performance you need today, and handle your needs in the future. Choosing a broadband service for your business may seem like child's play, with these services becoming almost a commodity. However, it is critical to carefully consider the service in use, since this can have a massive impact on performance, and ultimately on the profitability of your company. Claire Sadler, head of marketing at BT Broadband's business division, advises: "Traditionally business-grade services are slightly more expensive, but that's because they include things such as greater levels of support - both during and outside of normal office hours and guaranteed fix times - as well as more consistent speeds where business traffic gets priority at peak times. ADSL vs fibre broadband: we explain the difference"One other area to look at is whether it includes a free Wi-Fi connection outside of the office, which can enable staff to work effectively wherever they are - whether that's on a laptop, tablet or smartphone." For business users of broadband services the service level agreement (SLA) is all-important, because the SLA governs how the broadband service will be supported. Richard Phillips, managing director of CUP Classic Cars, says: "As with anything these days, you need to do your homework and know what you need. "Choose a reputable supplier that really understands your requirements and works with your business needs, so they can give you advice on the best service for you. You have to be comfortable with your supplier and know that problems are going to be resolved quickly should anything go wrong." Need for more than just speedBuying broadband services is more complex than simply choosing the fastest speed. Business broadband services also mean data management, backup and recovery, and of course email. Look closely at any services on your shortlist and ensure that they are not consumer grade, and are built with business users in mind. Cost of course is a clear driver here but the devil is in the detail, as Andrew Ferguson, editor at thinkbroadband.com, says: "A good business connection should come with clear information on what speeds you can expect. So while cheap services will use the classic 'up to' marketing phrase, those services aimed at the business sector should talk about things like committed rate and burst speed. Do not be afraid to ask for explanation, though be wary of sales staff who trot out the line 'our consumer services are 50:1 contention and business is 20:1'... this sales person's patter is eight years out of date." No discussion of business broadband would be complete without considering the impact that the cloud is now having. Small business users can clearly see the advantages that cloud-based services can offer. What is also vital is the connection that is available to the cloud, which is where a reliable, fast and robust broadband connection becomes essential. David Barker, technical director of 4D Data Centres, says: "SMBs need to make a decision on what their immediate requirements are to meet the business's needs. Usually for a first connection this is a small office or sole trader, so a basic business ADSL line will suffice. But, if you are looking to grow your staff quickly or if you're planning on using cloud services for your day-to-day activities, then you might want to look at a faster connection such as fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) or even a leased line which can offer speeds from 10Mbps to 1Gbps and is usually able to scale the speed as your business grows." Top tips for business broadband buyersTo ensure your business chooses the right broadband service for its needs, use the checklist below to help you define your needs, and then locate a broadband supplier that can become a trusted business partner: 1. Perform a data audit Before choosing a broadband service, look at how your business uses the data it is creating, storing and analysing. This will give you a benchmark to use that will ensure the broadband service has the capacity to handle these data loads. Is your LAN or WAN set up to handle high speed broadband? 2. Connect to the backbone Your internet service provider (ISP) can be connected to the internet in one of three ways. These are referred to as tiers 1, 2 and 3. Look for a host that has a tier 1 connection, since this means they have their own portion of the internet that they control. These are the most expensive, but the most reliable. 3. Look for better bandwidth The speed and efficiency of your website depends on how much data your server can send and receive. This is the bandwidth. Look for a hosting service that has bandwidth utilisation of below 50% to avoid bottlenecks. 4. Study service level agreements (SLAs) Any hosting service worth their salt should offer you one of these. Look closely at every clause so you don't get any nasty surprises. Most items should be open for negotiation. 5. Seek cloud optimisation As small businesses increasingly use cloud-based services, look for a broadband supplier that is set up to manage a hybrid cloud storage approach to data management, so your small business can use on-site servers and cloud services together. 6. Embrace data services As more businesses embrace the cloud and the flexibility that this offers for teleconferencing, VPNs (Virtual Private Network), VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and support so you can bring your own device (BYOD), choosing the right broadband service is more important than ever. Phillips adds: "Don't think in the short term. Technology is changing so rapidly and now enables businesses to do all sorts of things that were unimaginable even five years ago - the internet is at the heart of that change. There is a wide range of options, but as with all things you need to buy the best you can afford, as you'll soon grow into the capacity, whether or not you think you currently need it." http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/4isDRJ9nDSU

The carrier hasn’t released any specifics on its plans aside from noting its 5G Ultra Wideband Network, as Verizon is calling it in press materials, will reach 30 US cities in 2019. Obviously, you’ll need a phone that works with Verizon’s unspecified network. More specifically, you’ll need a phone with the right specs (new processors and modems) to hook up to 5G networks at all. Here are the phones Verizon has already announced will be usable on its own 5G network. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/qsCEf6afzpQSpuKuGpKNfG.jpg Image Credit: TechRadar Moto Z3 (with 5G Moto Mod)The Moto Z3 is technically Verizon’s first 5G-capable phone, but only because Motorola planned long in advance to introduce a Moto Mod deliberately designed to connect the handset to a 5G networks. The caveat: you can’t buy the mod just yet (not that Verizon's advanced network ready anyway), but when the accessory becomes available in the first half of 2019, you’ll be able pick it up on Motorola’s website here (and likely in Verizon stores). The Moto Z3 isn’t nearly as flashy as the other phones on this list, but it will be far more affordable, which gives Verizon an advantage over other carriers that are only backing the top 5G flagships. We don’t just mean “mid-range” affordable, either: the Moto Z3 launched last fall costing $480 (about £370, AU$650), and is doubtless a bit cheaper on the market by now. Even if the 5G Moto Mod has a stiff price tag, both will still be half or even a third as cheap as the other 5G-capable phones working on these carrier networks. Of course, don’t expect high performance at that price. The Moto Z3 packs a Snapdragon 835 - the top Android chip of 2017 - and starts at 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage (you can opt for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for a price bump). Its 6-inch AMOLED display is fine, if an unremarkable 2,160 x 1,080 (FHD+). Its main 12MP f/2.0 rear shooter is supplemented with a 12MP monochrome lens for low-light, while the front-facing camera is an 8MP f/2.0 for selfies. Add in a 3,000mAh battery and you have a decent phone with classy, glossy glass front and back...though you’ll conceivably need to keep the 5G mod attached to its rear at all times to access Verizon’s advanced network. Still, it’s a compromise that should work well for folks who want hyper-fast 5G speeds, but don’t want to drop $1,000 or more to get it. And like other mods, the 5G Moto Mod will work with other Motorola phones - though it’s only confirmed to work with the Moto Z2 for now (compatible at some point after the Z3, per the product’s page). http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/PqDgMdkiPA7rrHBhP8NbhF.png Image Credit: Samsung Samsung Galaxy S10 5G Verizon will be getting the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the big, powerful 5G-compatible version of the Galaxy S10 flagship line. The phone is top-of-the-line, with impressive specs and a huge screen. It’s also expected to be pretty pricey. While we don’t have an official cost yet, the S10 Plus starts at $999 / £899 (about AU$1,398) and the 5G version outclasses it in most dimensions, so we’re expecting an even higher price tag. The phone has a massive 6.7-inch AMOLED display, packs a Snapdragon 855 chipset and comes with 256GB storage and 8GB of RAM. Like the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus, the 5G variant has a trio of rear lenses (12MP wide, 16MP ultrawide and 12MP telephoto) along with a time of flight sensor to measure depth. It’s even got one of these TOF sensors on the front to augment selfies. The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G will become available to Verizon customers in the first half of 2019. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/bcuNnegTc3fWyjrzRefn6X.jpg LG V50 ThinQ 5G LG V50 ThinQ 5GAt MWC 2019, Verizon announced a third phone will be usable on its 5G network this summer: the LG V50 ThinQ 5G. Verizon isn’t the only carrier that will support LG’s new flagship, and given the vague timelines all carriers are proposing, it’s unclear if, say, Verizon will be getting the V50 later than Sprint, which claims it’s getting the phone “in the coming months.” In any case, the V50 is similar in size and appearance to last year’s V40 (down to the same 6.4-inch OLED screen), but with a few key differences. It packs the latest Snapdragon 855 processor, as expected from a 2019 flagship. But it also has two new changes: a bigger 4,000mAh battery and a vapor chamber to keep the phone powered and cool, respectively, during long media binge sessions. We still don’t know how much the V50 5G will cost, but given its predecessor was priced at $900 (around £690 / AU$1260) for launch last fall, we expect the new 5G version to be around or a bit higher than that. 19. Best Turntables Buying Guide: Welcome to TechRadar's round-up of the best turntables (also known as record players) you can buy in 2019. Whether you've got lots of old records collecting dust in the attic, or you're a keen member of the vinyl revival movement, turntables can be a fantastic investment. While the idea of a turntable might call images of the '60s and '70s to mind, you'll find that most modern turntables are pretty well-equipped with the latest tech – i.e. Bluetooth built-in or USB output that allows output records straight to your PC, meaning you can listen to your vinyls anywhere. One downside it that, as a result of all of these new products and tricky naming conventions, the market for the best turntables can be more confusing than a college cover band (we're looking in your direction AB/CD), but stick with us and we’ll find the best turntable for you. To start, we'll walk you through all the little details that go into choosing the best turntable for your listening needs and budget. Do you want to go on the high end with a belt drive? Or how about a more user-friendly direct drive turntable? What about phono preamps? Do you need one? All of these questions will be answered right here, so don’t worry, you’ll be absorbed in all of your favorite albums before you know it. [update: Recently we got a chance to test out the next evolution in the world of turntables - the Cambridge Audio Alva TT - a wireless player with aptX HD built-in. It will arrive in the UK and US starting in April of this year. In the meantime, don't miss our full Cambridge Audio Alva TT review.] What is a good turntable to buy?On of the most vital components to look for when you’re shopping for the best turntable is how well damped it is. Damping is essentially the method by which manufacturers combat vibrations – whether internal or external. They do this through the use of different motor configurations, and through the use of various components. Most of the time, belt-driven turntables are going to be a lot quieter and offer higher fidelity than their direct drive brethren – as direct drive turntables have a motor that is directly connected to the platter. However, there are some great direct drive turntables out there, so don’t write them off quite yet. Your own personal needs are important too, though, so don’t forget about them. If you’re just starting out, you probably don’t need to be fooling around with a complex turntable with an adjustable vertical tracking angle, anti-skate and azimuth. Do you want to rip your vinyl to your digital library? If so, look for a turntable with a USB output and reliable software to get the job done. What's the best turntable?http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/tSQEMjLH8ZFeobFG77iUwJ.jpg The Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB is the best introductory turntable for aspiring vinyl enthusiasts. Out of the box, it features the ability to play 33 ⅓, 45 and 78 RPM, this means there will never be an album you can’t play. There’s also a built-in phono preamp so you never have to worry about finding one on your own. New record collectors will love the easy setup and features while more vetted users will love the option to dial in the vertical tracking angle, tracking force and easily replaceable headshell. Sure, it looks like a Technics SL-1200 ripoff but at a fraction of the price, it’s entirely worth it. The AT-LP120-USB also comes with a USB output that allows you to record your record collection if you want. To put it simply, this deck strikes the perfect balance of ease of use for beginners while still including some more advanced features for you to grow into. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U6D3ofXKriRQ8SrHtFkjL4.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yXZv9Qrbs7479sT2UV2QpF.jpg If you’re not looking to drop a fortune on the best turntable in the world and don’t necessarily care about squeezing every last drop of fidelity from your LPs, the Audio-Technica AT-LP60 is a perfect starting point. It’s portable, can play most vinyl and is by far the most inexpensive turntable we have on this list. It’s also totally automatic, meaning it’ll queue a record and return the arm to resting position without requiring a manual lever. The only caveat with a turntable this cheap is that it won’t grow with you as your vinyl collection expands. The built-in phono preamp means you’re stuck with it, however you can replace the needle once it wears out. While there are cheaper, poorly engineered turntables on the market, it’s not worth it, as you risk damaging your precious records with poorly aligned and improperly weighted tonearms. Vinyl is expensive so we recommend the AT-LP60 for beginners just looking to get started. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U6D3ofXKriRQ8SrHtFkjL4.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/uom2yGtUAziRbbvMrfQEWL.jpg The Denon DP-300F is a gorgeous turntable that sounds just as good as it looks. The included DSN-85 cartridge isn’t the most accurate but it nevertheless manages to make your music sound airy and reasonably detailed, especially for it’s price. You’ll need to spend a lot more cash to hear more detail. While the DP-300F lacks the USB outputs of some of the turntables listed here, it’s still a great starting turntable for anyone who doesn’t want to manually queue their albums or have a habit of falling asleep while listening to music. The Denon’s automatic start/stop feature means your needle won’t be worn down at the end of the record as the arm immediately returns when an album is done. Build quality is decent for an all-plastic turntable, but its buttons feel cheap – a minor problem but shouldn't be a deal-breaker for you. If the Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB doesn’t fit your aesthetic, consider the Denon DP-300F instead. Read the full review: Denon DP-300F http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U6D3ofXKriRQ8SrHtFkjL4.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/jijriHh8UGLz8iCSgGU9gQ.jpg The Fluance RT81 is an excellent starter turntable for the enthusiast. It’s simple to set up and use for newbies but you can switch out the cartridge to squeeze out more performance later on. Newbies also won’t have to worry about getting a separate phono preamp, as one is built in. However, you can turn it off if you want to use a better external preamp. The only downside is that Fluance’s advertised “auto-off” feature simply turns off the platter, preventing excessive needle wear but you’ll still have to return the arm to its resting place yourself. You’ll also have to manually queue records, which isn’t a deal breaker by any means but is something to consider for those looking for a fully automatic turntable. The Denon DP-300F is a great choice for those looking for a fully automated record listening experience. Read the full review: Fluance RT81 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U6D3ofXKriRQ8SrHtFkjL4.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FjMji3MwGQYBBTttEdhPzU.jpg From here on out things start to get a little bit more ‘real’: The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon is in the runnings to be the best entry-level hi-fi turntables you can buy. While vinyl newcomers may cringe at the price, the Debut Carbon is really an incredible bargain. For the money, you get an very well made deck that’s damped properly for fantastic sound quality. The carbon fiber tonearm is lightweight and stiff, and is usually reserved for turntables costing much more. The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon is for the budding enthusiast that’s committed to the record collecting hobby and because of that commitment, it doesn’t feature niceties like an auto-returning tonearm, buttons for changing speed or an included phono preamp. Newbies may be turned off by the manual changing of the belt position to change speeds and the lack of an included preamp. However, if you want to extract more detail and resolution from your records than the cheaper options on this list, or if you want to get started on the path of being a true vinyl collector, the Debut Carbon is probably your best bet. Read the full review: Pro-Ject Debut Carbon http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U6D3ofXKriRQ8SrHtFkjL4.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/CrjfkEFBPBGuE3UDppzd8Z.jpg There’s a lot of debate whether the Rega Planar 1 or the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon is the best entry-level hi-fi turntable. It’s a close match and there are no clear winners, each providing an excellent starting place for audiophiles on a budget. While the Rega may lack the fancy carbon tone arm of the Pro-Ject, the Planar 1 still sounds excellent and is well damped with its phenolic resin platter. And for newbies, the Rega Planar 1 is still easy to setup, though you’ll have to provide your own phono preamp. Ultimately, the Rega Planar 1 just sounds so good that it’s hard to fault it too much. Vocals are revealing and you can hear the texture from instruments like the violin. The included Rega Carbon cartridge isn’t anything special but manages to be a great match for the turntable. It’s a tough choice between the Planar 1 and the Debut Carbon but you can’t go wrong with either. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U6D3ofXKriRQ8SrHtFkjL4.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/L66MYp7kq5oAz9CMs33krc.jpg The Marantz TT-15S1 costs a serious bit of change, but you’re actually getting a killer bargain. The Clearaudio Virtuoso included with the turntable is $1000 when purchased separately. Additionally, you get a killer tonearm and gorgeous turntable at a price that’s definitely an investment, but not unreasonable. So what does the Marantz TT-15S1 get you over the competition? Attention to detail. Just about every part of the turntable has been poured over to be the best it can be for the price. The fit and finish are excellent and it’s a pleasure to handle the high-quality components. This is a turntable you’ll find yourself admiring its visual and audible qualities. Newbies should not get this turntable as it requires more knowledge to set up properly than the entry-level turntables on this list. But if you’re ready to take your record collecting and listening to the next level, the Marantz TT-15S1 is the perfect place to start. Read the full review: Marantz TT-15S1 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U6D3ofXKriRQ8SrHtFkjL4.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/8NkcXZDSsgALEaGZeLZ2ig.jpg If the Clearaudio Concept and Marantz TT-15S1 seem familiar, that’s because the Marantz was built by Clearaudio to Marantz’s specifications. This means everything about the excellent build quality of the Marantz carries over to the Clearaudio Concept (i.e. this is a turntable that is as gorgeous as it sounds). One small but notable difference between the Marantz and the Clearaudio is the ability to play 78 rpm records. While most people will never come across 78s, it’s nice to know that the Clearaudio Concept is capable of playing them. The Concept also has a handy speed dial on the plinth, meaning you don’t have to swap the belt position manually. As for negatives, the Clearaudio Concept has no notable flaws. Yes, it’s expensive but you’re still getting a bargain in this price range. The included Clearaudio Concept moving-coil cartridge costs $1,000 by itself. Yep! Read the review: Clearaudio Concept http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U6D3ofXKriRQ8SrHtFkjL4.jpg http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/i8gWyR28VajgzCC6Mhncsk.jpg The Sony PS-HX500 is a great entry-level turntable for those just getting started with record collecting. Its standout feature is its ability to record Hi-Res audio from its USB output in 96kHz/24bit resolution. This is an excellent feature for those looking to digitize their records. In terms of sound quality, the Sony PS-HX500 sound spacious and provides good detail. However, the included needle sounds a bit harsh and sibilant at times and lacks the resolution of more expensive cartridges. While some may like the minimalist design of the Sony, it’s utterly forgettable and its plastic build leaves a lot to be desired. Handling the turntable on a daily basis leaves us wanting more premium materials that don’t rattle. Want to listen to digital music instead? 20. A new report has laid out a digital roadmap that could catalyze up to a £57bn productivity payout for UK SMEs over five years. The UK government's Making Tax Digital initiative (MTD), to digitize VAT in April of this year, will lead to annual benefit of £6.9bn or £46bn over five years in net gains in turnover and growth for the UK economy. Volterra Partners' report titled, The Productivity Payout: UK Small Businesses and the Digital Economy, provides the first of its kind economic model built on predicted behaviors of small business owners as a result of social and financial drivers. Meet the common enemy of accountancy bodies: CybercrimeXero - it’s time for accountancy to break out of the dark agesGet your finances in order with the best free accounting softwareAccording to the report, once businesses integrate technology to become MTD compliant, a 'digital snowball' effect is likely to occur as they experience spill-over benefits that will drive increases in SMEs' levels of productivity. Impact of MTD on SMEsWhile there are huge gains to be made from the adoption of digitization of traditional business practices, research from QuickBooks has revealed that one in five SMEs are still unaware of MTD and its associated impact. The impact for each type of small business in the UK is substantial with MTD delivering a spill-over increase in productivity regardless of a company's size. For sole traders, the predicted average net gain in annual revenue is £1,900 while a traditonal small business with 10-49 employees can expect to see an average increase of £18,000 to their top line growth. VP and UK Country Manager at Intuit QuickBooks, Chris Evans offered further insight on the report's findings, saying: “Now is the time for small businesses to embrace digital with unabated optimism. Today’s report highlights that a digital-led approach will be transformational for small businesses, who are the backbone of the UK economy. For those businesses, the transition to digital will not be without stumbling blocks. However, it presents a huge opportunity to streamline operations, drive efficiencies and simplify tax. It will enhance cashflow management and allow them to get paid faster and access capital to grow, powering prosperity across the UK.” We've also highlighted the best accounting softwarehttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/pcXYRnPU2LY
  21. Welcome to our list of the best business projectors in 2019. On this page you'll find the top business projectors that will help you make the most of your presentations, either in the office or out on the road. If you regularly make presentations, or you need to show your PC or laptop screen with an audience, then this list will help. The best business projectors will produce large projections with bright and vibrant colors that will help your presentations and meetings really pop and keep your audience engaged. For this list of the best business projectors of 2019 we’ve selected a wide range of projectors, from compact devices that are easy to travel with, to full-featured business projectors that feature a broader range of ports and high-end image fidelity. As well as listing the best business projectors, we also have our very own price comparison tool that will help you find the best prices as well. Best home cinema projectorsBuying one of the best business projectors will mean looking for different features than buying a projector for entertainment, so high resolutions and millions of inputs aren’t going to be quite as important as they would otherwise be. Unfortunately, plenty of offices often cheap out in when buying business projectors, or don't put in enough research, which leads to headaches for years to come. Don't make this mistakes: review our favorite options for your office's projector unit. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Fo6G7dRBvRdReUzX8ojP7.jpg Sure, we've reviewed some portable projectors, and many in this roundup qualify as portable, but the Philips PicoPix PPX4010 is impressively small. So small, that you wonder what use case demands it be that small, aside from it being able to easily fit into a your briefcase, or even a jacket pocket. Philips has created a projector so small it could be used to surprise unsuspecting co-workers who were blissfully unaware that a meeting was in their future. Selling for an affordable price, it features an easy setup and is able to project content only drawing power via USB. Unlike Philips older PicoPix mini projectors (some of which have appeared on this very list), the Philips PicoPix PPX4010 has a 100 lumens brighness, which means it doesn't have to be used in pitch black conditions to see, though it's still not as bright as full-size projectors. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/8AJdDzCDVSvBe5aufqT6km.jpg If your meetings are rarely in the same location, you're going to want a no-nonsense projector that's easy to carry. For that, we can recommend the Epson EB-S04. Weighing in at 2.4kg (5.3 pounds), and measuring 297‎ x 234 x 77mm, it also comes with a carry case included, which makes this a great business projector for people often out on the road. It supports connecting via USB, WiFi, VGA, HDMI, or the mobile MHL. Not only is it easy to move around with, it's extremely easy to use, so much so that booting and choosing your input source only took a mere 34 seconds in our testing. This is all with an intensely strong lamp, which maxes out at 3000 lumens. It is ideal for those who need a simple, portable projector for anything except for streaming video – we experienced quality issues there, with output being either grainy or stuttering. So it's not the best projector for watching films on, but as a business projector, it's excellent. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/8goUQ8EAMyRig39VPUsLA5.jpg If you're a small-to-medium-sized business, and need a projector for holding presentations in small rooms, then the ViewSonic PA503S is a brilliant choice. While its 800 x 600 SVGA resolution falls short of full HD, it's enough to display vibrant images, reports and spreadsheets on a wall or projection screen. It's got plenty of inputs, is easy to use, and is nice and bright as well. It also comes with a SuperEco mode that dims the brightness by up to 70%. This makes it more energy efficient (and therefore cheaper to run), while also prolonging the life of the bulb. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ab98f559ef146f57d9aeedf5f69f8f53.jpg The ML750e by Optoma may not be the smallest projector we're talking about here, but it's a lot more powerful than the pocket-sized PicoPix from Phillips. It weighs in at an ultraportable 380g with a small footprint that makes this easy to carry around. The differences in size between this and the PicoPix are negligible for the power you get in return: a 700 Lumens lamp that lets you present in rooms that aren't completely darkened. Not only is it port-rich with one MHL-ready HDMI input, a USB 2.0 slot for thumbdrives, a universal I/O slot, and a microSD card slot, but the ML550 handled our 90-inch test screen with impressive results, and peaked at a 60-inch-or-so size. Much like the ViewSonic PLED-W800, though, the ML750e had us grumbling because you need to buy a dongle for Wi-Fi access. which felt as arcane at the time of this projector's release as it does today. And in another moment that felt anachronistic, there is no way to work with the projector via a smartphone or tablet. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/eFGMHrssYx3LffuMSMdvVd.jpg Usually when you choose a portable business projector you have to make a few sacrifices in order to have such a small device – but that's not the case with the Epson EB-S41. Epson has an excellent reputation with business projectors, and it has brought much of its expertise to the EB-S41. Its 3,300 lumen brightness is much brighter than many other portable projectors, and means you have more flexibility when setting up the EB-S31 in environments where there is still ambient light. The EB-S41 is small and light enough to carry around with you on business trips, but it also has a very large projection size – up to 300 inches – which makes this an incredibly versatile portable business projector. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/eedf41452804e0840fd4691ae4c98234.jpg The LG Minibeam PH550G is a brilliant business projector for people who often work on the road thanks to its compact size. It's also wireless as well, allowing you to connect a smartphone or tablet to it, and showcase your presentations or media quickly and easily. This is great for impromptu meetings, and despite its small stature, it offers brilliant image and sound quality. If you're after a business projector that will wow audiences in huge keynote addresses, then this isn't the projector for you – it's relatively dim and lack resolution – but for presentations when out on the road, this is easily one of the best. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/60e40ec6c1fbd2956a7e94f502597505.jpg If you're looking for the jack of most-trades option, Epson's EB-X11 is a good place to start. The EB-X11 fits into the middle of the pack, with enough features to make most take it seriously. Measuring just 295 x 228 x 77mm (W x D x H) and weighing 2.3kg, the EB-X11 is easy to move between conference rooms, or even buildings. One feature we were particularly keen on is the lens cover that instantly shuts off the lamp and speakers. The lamp inside the EB-X11 is more adaptable than some because of its relatively high brightness rating of 2600 lumens. Unfortunately it comes with a handful of flaws. The machine only projects to the 4:3 aspect ratio, and when you're showing photos (likely with black bars above and below, thanks to that ratio) you're not going to see the sharpest reproduction thanks to the projector's low resolution. Unlike other projectors we've talked about in this round-up, the USB slot on the EB-X11 can only handle photos, and the machine has no Wi-Fi options. If all of those red flags aren't enough to dissuade you, and poor audio quality wouldn't either, then still consider the EB-X11. Read our Epson EB-X11 reviewhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/gTMZSJbcRDnSw4L4QXkFfG.jpg The Asus ZenBeam E1 is a beautifully designed pocket projector that's small and light enough to carry around with you if you often make presentations on the road. Despite its small size, it can project images up to 120 inches in size, and it has a built-in 6,000mAh battery that can power the projector for up to 5 hours, which makes it rather flexible, as you don't have to worry about finding a plug socket to power the device. In a rather nice touch, the projector can also double as a power bank for other mobile devices. The Asus ZenBeam E1 isn't the most powerful portable projector, but its versatility, ease of setup and eye catching design gives it a place on our list of best business projectors. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/e0389f6bdb182be95d7e2ff6a8e7de05.jpg Although it's less expensive than other ViewSonic models mentioned here, the ViewSonic PLED-W800 still performs well. It earns its price tag thanks to its ultra-portability, weighing in at 830g and measuring 175 x 138 x 51.5mm (W x D x H). With a lamp that can reach up to 800 lumens, you can still run a presentation in whatever room you can bring it to, provided you can shade the windows and lower the lighting. It comes with an SD Card slot, a USB slot, an MHL-ready HDMI input (for connecting DVD/Blu-ray players and also smartphones/tablets) and a VGA input for laptops. Much like other portable projectors we talk about here, just because you can pass video through this unit doesn't mean you should. For its price, though, making you pay even more for an optional Wi-Fi dongle (ViewSonic recommends its PJ-WPD-200, which brings Miracast and DLNA compatibility) feels like you're getting nickel and dimed. If presenting Microsoft Office documents is a large part of your practice, and it probably is, the PLED-W800 should stand out thanks to native support for presenting Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files directly from a USB stick or SD card. Read our Viewsonic PLED-W800 reviewhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yHaaSDteYobqmFu5mbtitb.jpg If you really want to wow at presentations, or turn a whole wall into an interactive whiteboard for brainstorming sessions, then the Epson BrightLink 685Wi is definitely worth considering. It's an interactive projector that allows people to draw, write and modify the items it projects onto a screen. It comes with a range of software to help you create these impressive projections, and can wirelessly connect to a huge range of devices. The Epson BrightLink 685Wi certainly isn't cheap, but it's a decent investment if you're looking for a business projector that can be used in a large number of innovative ways. 22. They may not be in vogue anymore, but if you’re looking for the best scanner to buy in 2019, you've come to the right place. Sure, all-in-one printers that offer scanning features offer a worthwhile alternative to standard scanners for home users, but if you work in a business that relies on fast, high quality scanning, then you're still going to want to buy the best standalone scanner. To help you with this important purchase, we've collected together five of the best scanners you can buy in 2019, and each device on this list is ideal for both personal and business use. These devices cover a wide range of use cases and will transform how users handle their document management processes. At the same time, our price comparison tool will compare prices from a number of online retailers to make sure you get the very best deals when buying a new scanner. That means you can take full advantage of all the deals online. If you’re in the market for one of the best scanners for your office or home, any of the scanners we’ve gathered up in this list will make sure you have a dependable and great-performing device. Also check out our list of the 10 best office apps for Androidhttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/14499a95c7284150a5ac072ec7eb4f20.jpg Document scanners are all about being able to process large amounts of documents in a trustworthy, seamless and intuitive fashion, and being able to integrate the information collected in existing document management systems. You're almost certainly looking at a sheet-fed scanner rather than a flatbed one, and there are plenty of models on the market to fit most needs including, at the very high-end, devices that can scan A3 sheets and perform 30,000 scans per day. The Panasonic KV-S1027C represents an ideal middle ground in that it's fairly affordable but delivers the sort of performance you'd expect from a more expensive model. It scans up to 45 pages per minute, has a USB 3.0 port and can scan anything from embossed ID cards to passports. Add in a 100-sheet ADF, integrated ISIS/WIA/TWAIN drivers and a three-year warranty as standard and you have a pretty compelling offering. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ec2b08254b86122289e6b275d3e81c09.jpg Flatbed scanners are the only way to go should you want a versatile unit to scan photos at high resolution, and the Canoscan 9000F Mark II ticks all the right boxes. It might be three-years-old but like the scanner market in general, there hasn't been a lot of meaningful innovation in this particular arena. The 9000F offers a scanning resolution of up to 9600x9600 dpi for film/slides and a quarter of that for photo and documents, all at 48-bit. It can handle negatives and filmstrips thanks to a built-in adaptor. It doesn't require warm-up time and can also scan straight to a number of cloud-based services. It might be a tad bigger than its cousins (many of which would be using CMOS rather than CCD technology) but features like FARE (Film Automatic Retouching and Enhancement) will more than make up for that. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/02aeed71836f166b4395a955774cd221.jpg The most important feature in a network scanner is the presence of an Ethernet port. Many high-end document scanners will have one by default since they're expected to service more than one person. The better models will offer a fast scanning speed coupled with integrated drivers, high daily duty cycles, the ability to scan to multiple destinations and a decent size document sheet feeder. The Epson Workforce DS-860N offers all this and more – there's a five-year warranty as default, and the ability to scan oversized folded documents (e.g. A3). It can scan at up to 65 pages per minute at a resolution of up to 600 dpi, with a daily duty cycle of 6,000 sheets. Two other smart features include colour enhance or colour dropout which either highlights or removes a particular colour from the scanned document. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ccdf25d60e500939b7853ef27f47570f.jpg SMBs must be flexible, and the same is true for the office equipment they use, which is why the ideal scanner for a small business may well be one that combines scanning, printing and, more often than not, faxing. Purists might not agree, but a single unit that can handle all these essential business functions is often a better option than having dedicated devices, especially if you are a one-man-band or a small team. The HP Officejet 7612 is near that sweet spot: it copies, scans and faxes, has an Ethernet port and offers Wi-Fi, scans up to A3 size (and to several destinations) and doesn't cost the Earth. Users will love the fact that it supports both Mac and Linux, and that it sports a large touchscreen control panel. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3d1105c37e8c5db96bf08627960c2fb8.jpg A portable scanner is all about compromises – you swap the convenience of having a large flatbed area for mobility. The best models will do duplex scanning (the ability to scan both sides of a sheet), scan more than one page at a time, offer macOS and Windows compatibility and a decent software package. Optionally, they can be battery-powered, offer Wi-Fi and the ability to scan to the cloud. The ADW-1600W from Brother fits the bill in terms of cramming features in – despite its diminutive size, this device sports an LCD touchscreen, a 20-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), and can scan up to 18 pages per minute. It also comes with built-in TWAIN and ISIS drivers, a USB port and Wi-Fi connectivity. Surprisingly, it even supports Linux and has a clever slot allowing you to scan plastic IDs. Their comfortable design means they can be worn for long periods of time while working thanks to the memory foam construction of the earpads. Read the full review: Philips Fidelio X2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/d39889d326fc6682a15be4f43d2db7a4.jpg Bose has finally brought its fantastic noise-cancelling technology to a pair of wireless headphones, and it's done so without any of the traditional drawbacks of wireless headphones – they sound great, and their battery life is long enough for even the longest video meeting. Going wireless with your business headphones means you have less clutter on your desk, freeing you up for more important things when on an important call. At $349.95 (£289.95) the QC35s sit firmly at the premium end of the spectrum, but if you want the best noise-cancelling headphones available right now then you can't get any better. Read the full review: Bose QuietComfort 35 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/noAyovDeZGDABLSPQKoLHE.jpg The Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 offer insane battery life, great sound quality and good active noise cancellation for the business man or woman in your life. They may not offer the best noise cancellation – especially compared to the Bose QuietComfort 35s or the Fidelio NC1 – but at only $200 (£230, AU$250) it’s hard to think of a better travel headphone for the price. Ultimately, with the BackBeat Pro 2, you’re getting a travel headphone with incredible battery life, supreme comfort, the ability to pair two device as one and, most importantly, good sound quality for the cost. Read our full review: Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/89c4c0a1210fe9ac0b4401f8c63c451c.jpg These no-holds-barred wireless headphones are oozing with positive qualities, but for many, they're almost prohibitively expensive. However, if you're an audio lover that can spare the expense, do not hesitate on this comfortable, hard-working set of headphones that will likely last for years. Read the full review: Sennheiser Momentum Wireless http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/b9c75dc11e5cf0aae771819202207164.jpg If you'd rather some in-ear earphones for your business dealings, then the RHA T10i is the first set you should consider for one simple reason: the sound quality is incredible, thanks to the snug seal created when the headphones are stuck in your ear. Plus the bass is also robust for such small earphones. The RHA T10i look slick with a metal finish around the drivers and around the cable as well. They also come with several replacement tips if the defaults don't fit your ear canal. They're more expensive than other earbuds on the list, but there's good reason they feautre at the top of our business earphones selection. Of them all, however, our current favorites are the Shure SE215s – they're not the top-tier performers from the audio company, but we think they offer the best performance-to-price ratio of any of Shure's headsets. Sure, the headphones look great in their futuristic-looking translucent, space grey color, but the best bit is that you can snag the Shure SE215s for ~$100. Read the full review: Shure SE215 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/fa14e2cc2fe3560c9099cf90608623df.jpg Life is full of trade-offs, and it's the same with the Bose QuietControl 30s. On the plus side you get a level of noise cancellation that’s on a par with the brand's over-ear headphones, but the compromise here is on sound quality, which is simply not as good as that of other in-ear or over-ear headphones we’ve tried. However, if you're going to be using these on video or voice calls in a noisy office, then these are definitely worth considering. Read the full review: Bose QuietControl 30 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/9tojFZn3Y4fRWujx2xjJqb.jpg The V-Moda Forza offer a lot – they sound good, are built to last, and have an innovative modular design that we really like is like nothing we’ve seen before on an earbud. The Forza, therefore, are perfect for anyone who wants headphones that can do it all, from working out to taking these with you on the morning commute to the office. Sure, they're not the most balanced sounding or highest resolution, but the water resistance and modular design of the Forza make them a pretty compelling option. 24. Welcome to our list of the best portable laptop battery chargers and power banks , where we look at the easy and portable ways to charge your laptop in 2019. When looking for the best portable laptop battery charger, you want something that stores enough charge to top up - or completely replenish - your laptop's battery when it's critically low. The best laptop battery charger should mean you're never having to frantically search for a power socket when working while travelling. You won’t have to worry about getting stranded in the middle of nowhere when you buy one of the best portable laptop chargers. With these convenient devices, you can make sure you can always get your work done – no matter where you are. You might also want to peruse our list of best business laptopshttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XsgXYfZgc9xd4LoXe2GarQ.jpg With the Mophie Powerstation AC, high power output is the name of the game. This portable laptop battery charger is able to power a 15-inch MacBook Pro. Meanwhile, the USB-C port is rated at 30W with a USB-PD label, meaning its one of the few batteries capable of fast charging an iPhone X or iPhone 8. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Q7jdjPczKPTqE3fCeyPYLj.jpg If you have a newer laptop, and find yourself running out of juice throughout the day, the Omni 20 USB-C might be for you. Not only does it have an insanely high capacity, but it also allows charging of multiple USB-C devices simultaneously. So, if you’re working and you need to charge your Nintendo Switch and a mobile device, you go for it. Plus, the Omni 20 also serves as a USB hub, clearing out some extra storage space in your bag. This product is only available in the US and UK at the time of this writing. Australian readers: check out a fine alternative in the Mophie Powerstation AC http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/CA6eVgjo78HBPdnwYSJPg5.jpg The PowerAdd Pilot Pro2 doesn’t just come with 10 connectors that cover most of the laptops on the market today, but it’s backed by a two-year warranty. That means you can use the 23MAh/85Wh capacity without worry. The Pilot Pro2 is also light enough to carry around wherever you go, coming in under 560g. The only thing that holds it back is that it doesn’t have any USB-C connectors, so if you have a modern Ultrabook or MacBook, you may want to go elsewhere, otherwise you’ll have to carry a separate power supply to keep the battery charger backed up. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U4Fby5y9LptkM2ep9pwTa5.jpg As technology marches forward, new laptops need less power to function. This is especially ture for high-end laptops like the MacBook Pro, HP Elite x2, Huawei Matebook Pro X or the Dell XPS 13. For all of these devices, and more, USB-C is king – the RAVPower uses this revolutionary connector to deliver up to 30W of power, which should be plenty for the best Ultrabooks. You can recharge it using a 30W wall charger that can also be used to power compatible laptops – very handy, indeed. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3nArueapV8ccSFbyrHUKb5.jpg The MaxOak MacBook Charger is a perfect example of a laptop battery charger that goes the extra mile to make sure that it matches the expectations of its audience. This portable laptop charger has all the hallmarks of an Apple device, without the logo – but that’s what those Apple stickers are for – with a matching brushed aluminum finish. It’s the second most capacious portable laptop battery charger on this list, but its huge amount of juice comes with a catch – it carries so much power that at least one airline has outright banned it, so bear that in mind if you plan to use this charger while traveling. It’s also pretty heavy at almost 1kg and will cater to most MacBooks, but nothing else. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/uUdTGJkTySURe3xauMfjX5.jpg This is the only charger in this list that targets Microsoft’s popular Surface range by offering the appropriate DC output voltage (12V and 15V). It comes with a generous five ports, four of which allow you to charge other 5V devices (that includes anything from other power banks to tablets and smartphones). What’s especially interesting about the Qi-infinity Upgraded Powerbank is the addition of fast-charging through Qualcomm’s Qi tech. You’ll be able to charge the new MacBook as well, but no traditional laptops that rely on a 19V DC output. Just keep in mind that its capacity of 35Ah may not be allowed on some airlines, similar to the MaxOak devices above and below. This product is only available in the US at the time of this writing. UK and australian readers, check out a fine alternative in the RAVPower RP-PB058 http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/9KJm4t8T39wrTfWp5Hhac5.jpg The K2 is the world’s second highest mountain and it is fitting – to some extent – that MaxOak named this battery after that lofty peak. After all, at 50Ah, this is the biggest battery on our list and one that is also the heaviest of the lot. It supports laptops up to 60W (3A, 20V) as well as fast-charging. Note that it takes up to eight hours to charge the battery and that can only be achieved via a proprietary charger. Sadly, it doesn’t carry a USB Type-C connector – which makes it useless for newer laptops – and you won’t be able to lug it around on the plane (as with the previous two peripherals, the massive capacity here may mean it’s banned on some flights). http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/RBYwLYSvWmhp5SCB8J9Aj5.jpg Sandberg's Powerbank is neither the cheapest nor the most powerful around. However, it does come with a couple of features that make it a rather enticing option. It outputs to a number of voltages (12V, 16V, 19V and 20V), automatically choosing the right one depending on the device which is connected. There are also two USB ports, and they’re hardwired to output 5V. You’ll also get 12 different charge tips, but if you have one of the best Ultrabooks that need a USB Type-C port for charging, you’ll be out of luck. It also features a premium brushed aluminum finish, with bright blue LED status lights that clearly indicate the amount of juice left, or how close the battery is to being charged. This product is only available in the UK and Australia at the time of this writing. US readers, check out a fine alternative in the MaxOak K2. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/U4SifGsHGBwWK7LMYKUea5.jpg If you are looking for a versatile laptop charger, then do consider this RavPower offering. It is by far the most expensive model on our list, but this Reddot award winner carries a feature that no one has replicated till now. It has an AC output that can deliver up to 100W of power – yes, this could even power a TV if needed. Note that you will probably need an adaptor (there’s one bundled) because the power bank can only accommodate two-prong plugs. You will be able to take it on a commercial flight, but you will not be able to recharge it via USB. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/emFrvSuqJvB5szGYmTVZb5.jpg Dell sells the Power Companion with various battery capacities. It is more compact than the RAVPower models, and the unit looks like a Dell power brick that charges your laptop. When you're at your desk, you can daisy-chain to recharge the Power Companion and your Dell laptop by connecting your Dell charging brick to the Power Companion, and then connecting it to your notebook. Dell's Power Companion is a far sleeker battery pack if your office relies on Dell Inspiron, Latitude, XPS or Venue laptops and tablets, with the added benefit that it has extra USB ports should you need them. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/gySUU-yQ0tw
