When Nintendo released the first Super Mario Maker title on its Wii U console in 2015, it became an instant classic due to its star feature – allowing players to design their own levels for Mario to traverse and to play those created by others. The result was a wide swathe of levels designed by everyone from amateur players to truly obsessed fans, creating speedrun stages, crazy survival-based gauntlets, and even complex Rube Goldberg machinations. It seems that the success has carried to its Nintendo Switch sequel, with the company’s American division tweeting its thanks to players for creating and uploading over 2 million courses for Super Mario Maker 2 in less than two weeks after release. Super Mario Maker 2While the addition of a dedicated Story Mode and assistance settings to the franchise makes for a more accessible game overall, the ability to play user-made courses and create your own has once again stolen the show. Even well-known game developers are getting in on the action, such as Matt Thorson, who is responsible for the critically-acclaimed twitch platformer Celeste. Thorson has made at least five stages at the time of writing – his Maker ID is JVY-3W4-11H, for those interested. How to make a Super Mario Maker level that's actually funWith such a tremendous volume of custom courses available for the game, it’s fair to assume that plenty of the resulting courses are… average at best. Thankfully, though, you can sort these levels by popularity and quickly see where you should focus your efforts. If you’re wondering whether or not you should pick up the game for yourself, check out our in-depth Super Mario Maker 2 review, but it’s worth noting that you’ll need to also get yourself a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to make use of all the course sharing features. The wait for Nvidia’s next-generation Turing graphics cards was excruciating. However, the latest and greatest GPU architecture have powered our graphics needs for quite sometime now, and we must say that the sheer power of Nvidia Turing was definitely worth the long wait. Now that we finally have Turing-powered Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080, RTX 2070 and RTX 2060 cards in our hands, we know they’re the best graphics cards for the games we’ll be playing for the next few years. And, that’s without factoring in Nvidia’s Super RTX cards, which are also out now. Nvidia Turing will be behind some creative work too, thanks to the recently introduced Nvidia Titan RTX. Nvidia Turing is all about the real time ray tracing, taking this long-awaited graphics technology to the mainstream. This brings about a graphical revolution in the way the best PC games are rendered. And, judging by high-profile games like Metro Exodus and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, that revolution has begun – especially considering you can enable ray tracing on non-RTX cards (to the tune of a major performance hit). Of course, there are Nvidia Turing cards out there for people that don’t need the unique RTX tech. Nvidia released the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, GeForce GTX 1660 and GeForce GTX 1650 for that purpose. They’re not quite as powerful as their ray tracing cousins, but they’re significantly more affordable. Additionally, Nvidia officially announced its mobile Turing graphics processors, along with a ton of laptops equipped with them. Cut to the chaseWhat is it? Nvidia’s latest graphics card architectureWhen is it out? Out since September 20What will it cost? $599 (£569, AU$899) - $10,000 (£7,830, AU$13,751)http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/iB7PcRkKvLKeknD3F3tusC.jpg Image Credit: Nvidia Nvidia Turing release dateAll of the currently-announced Nvidia Turing GPUs are now out in the wild – from the GTX 1660 and 1660 Ti to the RTX Super cards, RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super. Well, that is, except for the RTX 2080 Super, which doesn’t come out until the 23rd. Thankfully, the RTX-series cards are readily available now after some initial limited availability. Additionally, thanks to the release of the newer cards, you’ll likely find more than a few older models on sale every day. At CES 2019, we didn’t just finally get an RTX 2060 announcement, but also over 40 gaming laptops sporting the mobile version of Nvidia RTX graphics. These days, the best gaming laptops, alongside the ones we saw at CES 2019 like the Alienware Area 51m, are all packing the latest Nvidia Turing graphics. And, we’re sure that they’ll be packing the Super RTX cards in no time. If you were looking for a graphics card that you won’t have to take out a personal loan to afford, the affordable GeForce RTX 2060 Super and GeForce RTX 2070 Super recently hit the streets on July 9 to compete with the AMD Navi cards, which were released on July 7. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/35hRhD5oKnkFEDftVJY2RM.jpg Image Credit: TechRadar Nvidia Turing priceAlthough the Nvidia Turing series started with the Quadro RTX GPUs, we're far more interested in the graphics cards available for consumers. If you wanted to check out these enterprise-leaning parts head on here. Otherwise, these were how much these announced consumer cards cost when they were first released: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti: $1,199 (£1,099, AU$1,899) Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super: $699 (about £560, AU$1099)Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080: $799 (£749, AU$1,199) Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super: $499 (about £395, AU$720)Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070: $599 (£569, AU$899) Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super: $399 (about £315, AU$580)Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060: $349 (£329, AU$599)Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti: $279 (£259, AU$469) Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660: $219 (£219, AU$389)Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650: $149 (about £115, AU$210)Overall, the prices for Nvidia's newest graphics cards seem to have risen with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti taking the place of Nvidia’s past Titan cards. This shift up can sadly be seen across the entire lineup. That’s without mentioning the prices on the store for the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080, which were a bit higher than what Nvidia CEO and founder Jensen Huang revealed at the Nvidia Geforce Celebration at Gamescom 2018 – at the time of writing. For instance, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti was initially revealed at $999, but that price is rarely reflected outside of some occasional discounts like Amazon Prime Day. Then there’s the GTX Turing cards. These are led by the $279 (£259, AU$469) GTX 1660 Ti, and provide phenomenal value at the low end. The most recent of these cards, the GTX 1650 is priced at $149 (about £115, AU$210), and is positioned to compete with the AMD Radeon RX 570. The great news is that Nvidia has taken points from AMD, rolling the Super versions of its RTX 2060, RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 at a much more accessible price point, offering better price-to-performance value. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/rx4WetTFcGhgHmhHasCCpL.jpg Image Credit: TechRadar Nvidia Turing specsThe headline feature of Nvidia Turing is the inclusion of ray-tracing tech, which can render more realistic visuals and lighting in real time without having to fall back on programming tricks. These specialized RTX cores basically calculate how light and sound travel in a 3D environment at a rate of up to 10 GigaRays on the RTX 2080 Ti. These specialized cores also allow Nvidia Turing-based graphics cards to process ray tracing up to 25 times faster than Pascal. When these RTX Cores aren’t in use for processing ray tracing, they’ll essentially switch off, ceasing to draw any power. In addition to these RTX cores, the Turing Architecture also features Tensor Cores, like the ones found in Volta. These specialized cores enable artificial intelligence and neural networking so that Turing cards get better at rendering over time – something previously exclusive to supercomputers. With the ability to deliver 500 trillion Tensor operations a second, this technology accelerates deep learning training and inferencing. This allows Nvidia to offer Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), which could be a version of super sampling that won’t bring your computer to its knees. Even for games that don’t support this new DLSS tech, these AI-fueled cores should deliver traditional anti-aliasing much more efficiently – up to eight times. As with Volta, Nvidia Turing is adopting GDDR6 memory – up to 11GB in the RTX 2080 Ti, which can clock in at up to 14Gbps, quite the leap over the Pascal-powered Nvidia Titan Xp that clocked in at 11.4Gbps. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is an absolute behemoth of a GPU. With 4,352 CUDA cores, 11GB of GDDR6 VRAM with a 352-bit memory bus and 18 billion transistors, it’s capable of 4K Ultra gaming at high refresh rates for years to come. It’s no wonder it comes with such a high price tag. The more mainstream RTX 2080 and RTX 2070, as well as the RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super, are also quite impressive and absolutely destroy the previous generation of GPUs. The former will feature 2,944 CUDA cores, 8GB of GDDR6 memory and clocks in at a 1.5GHz base frequency. The 2070, though is be a bit weaker, coming with 2,304 CUDA cores 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM and clocked at a 1,410Mhz base frequency. And, while the RTX 2060 is basically just a cut-down RTX 2070, with the same TU106 GPU, but with 1,920 CUDA cores, 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM and a boost clock of 1,680 MHz, it’s still a formidable graphics card. Nvidia has also launched some non-RTX cards, starting with the GTX 1660 Ti. This entry-level card features 1,536 CUDA cores, 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM at 12Gbps, and a base clock of 1,500 MHz. It’s slower than the RTX 2060, but it’s a substantial upgrade over the GTX 1060 it replaces. Team Green’s second non-RTX GPU, the GTX 1660 features 1,480 CUDA cores, 6GB of GDDR5 video memory and a reference boost clock of 1,785MHz. It might not sound mighty on paper, but between its low price and fantastic 1080p gaming performance, it’s currently the absolutely best entry-level graphics card you can buy. A third non-RTX GPU has been released, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650. This low-end GPU features the TU117 GPU, clocked at 1,485GHz with a boost of 1,665GHz. This budget card features 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM with 128GB/s of memory bandwidth on a 128-bit bus. Nvidia Turing Performance As long as you have the high-end specs to back them up, the new Turing RTX cards are able to perform much faster than their Pascal equivalents, and will be able to push it even further once DLSS or deep learning super sampling is more widespread. Plus, due to the AA improvements in the Tensor cores, we’re seeing about a 20-40% increase in games that don't support DLSS. In our benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 2080 outperforms the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti by about 11% and the Nvidia GTX 1080 by a more impressive 32% in Middle Earth: Shadow of War in 4K. This performance difference is even more massive when you look at the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. It’s not only 20% faster than the RTX 2080 in the same title, but beats out the last-generation 1080 Ti by a massive 30%, destroying the GTX 1080 with a 45% performance delta. The Nvidia RTX 2070 is less impressive so while it does absolutely wipe the floor with the GTX 1070, it is essentially neck in neck with the GTX 1080 – barely hitting a 10% performance increase at 4K in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. At its price point, we were hoping for more, especially after seeing the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti’s impressive performances. On the other hand, we’re very impressed with the two Super RTX cards’ price-to-performance ratio. This is especially true for the RTX 2070 Super, which offers a much better performance than the RTX 2070 at $100 cheaper. With boosted specs, the RTX 2060 Super will easily handle 1440p gaming with ray tracing enabled, rivaling the RTX 2070’s performance. The RTX 2070, on the other hand, definitely outperforms the RTX 2070 and in certain cases breaches RTX 2080 territory. The RTX 2060 is obviously the weakest of the bunch, but you shouldn’t dismiss it outright. The mid-range Nvidia Turing card far outclasses the GTX 1060, but what’s more surprising is that it surpasses the GTX 1070 Ti – for a lower asking price. We were able to get 90 fps in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p, whereas the 1070 Ti lagged behind at 86 fps. That’s not a huge difference, but the 2060 is $100 cheaper at launch. In traditional games, there’s no question that Nvidia Turing marks a total upgrade from Pascal. And, over time as drivers mature and users get ready to start overclocking their Turing cards, the difference is only going to grow. That’s not to mention the inclusion of incoming DLSS and ray tracing in games, which should only increase the Nvidia Turing performance gap. When it comes to ray tracing, there was only one title that supported it at the time of writing: Battlefield V. And, in that title, the Nvidia Turing cards use a hybrid rendering technique – combining both traditional rasterization and ray tracing in order to produce playable frame rates. Nvidia utilizes “Bounding Volume Hierarchy,” or BVH to track large portions of the scene being rendered for whether or not a ray is being bounced. The RTX cores will then dig deeper into these large rendering zones until it finds the polygon that’s getting hit by the light ray. This method impacts performance far less than tracking each ray live, but it’s still very demanding. In our own testing, you’ll be stuck at 1080p if you’re looking for smooth gameplay with ray tracing turned on. However, with Nvidia’s latest RTX drivers, it’s claiming to increase performance by up to 50% for ray tracing. We’ll be sure to test this and report back, but we have to wait for the new Battlefield V patch to do it. As for the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, you can expect much better performance than the GTX 1060 for less money – up to 56% faster in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p in our testing. That makes the 1660 Ti a beast when it comes to value. Meanwhile, this the latest in AMD Vegahttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/hks8lCQnnzA

Update: Dr. Mario World for iOS and Android has launched a day early, and we have already played through a lot of the 200 levels. Here's how to download the game and what we think of it so far in a hands-on review. Like bad medicine, we've been served a lot of mediocre puzzle games on mobile in recent years – mostly an endless parade of poor Candy Crush clones. Good news: Nintendo is trying to put a change that by calling in its head doctor. Dr. Mario World for iOS and Android has brought its nearly 30-year-old brand of color-matching, virus-defeating puzzle gameplay to everyone July 9 (a day early), and we got to test the new game ahead of its official release date. Live right now: Early Amazon Prime Day 2019 deals in the USDownload it for iOS: Dr. Mario World for iPhone and iPadDownload it for Android: Dr. Mario World for AndroidOur first surprise was how Nintendo is changing up the dosage from its 1990 original to adapt to today's smartphones. It makes sense: the colorful capsules are now 'tossed' upward into the playing field. Why the change? That makes it a lot easier to fling in these pills while holding on to modern phones, which have such big and tall touchscreens that they're typically gripped at the bottom. There's also a lot more variety to the gameplay and several new doctors on staff – all of them familiar faces in the Mario universe. Another big change: Dr. Mario World is free, but there are monetization options for continuing to play and obtaining extra doctors and power-ups, which we'll explain. Here's what you need to know before you get addicted to Dr. Mario World and bump to its classic 'Fever' and 'Chill' music remixes. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/QmxcwtbMAP7Jxm6mDXeg5H.jpg Image credit: Nintendo Dr. Mario World release date and priceThe Dr. Mario World release date ended up being Tuesday, July 9, even though it was scheduled for Wednesday , July 10. It's now available for both iOS and Android. Nintendo is launching the game in nearly 60 countries. The Dr. Mario World price? Free. Nintendo has inserted monetization options into this game, though. You can either earn in-game coins or spend real money on diamonds. Both are designed to be spent to keep playing levels when you run out of 'hearts' (your play-limiting energy), to recruit new doctors, and to gain special power-ups. The core Dr. Mario World gameplay involves using as few capsules as possible to rid the playing field of colorful viruses. Running out of capsules triggers a game over and that's when you'll either have to wait to jump back into the solo game – or spend coins or diamonds to get back in right away. Good news: playing multiplayer games never has a wait attached to it, so you don't really need to spend coins or diamonds to continue playing in PvP match-ups. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zgiXzhRBWtht7BhFqPfV5H.jpg Image credit: Nintendo Dr. Mario World trailerThere have been two Dr. Mario World trailers released so far from Nintendo, one going over the core concept of the game, and the other the multiplayer gameplay. The first trailer is nearly three-and-a-half-minutes long and explores how the game is played. There's almost as much depth to the Dr. Mario World multiplayer trailer, which you can watch below. You can send lines of viruses over to your opponent by filling up an attack meter. There's a handy mini playing field on the right side of the screen to keep track of how your opponent is doing. Dr. Mario World charactersMario isn't the only doctor in the house – he has to attend to his plumbing duties some times, you know. You always have Peach, Luigi, Bowser and even Yoshi on hand, among others. On-boarding a new doctor or assistant requires either 4,000 coins or 40 diamonds. Each Dr. Mario World comes with special attributes to help you solve puzzles, too. Here are all the available doctors so far: http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/pyBLqHYHBLiDR7Wmbpzo5H.jpg Image credit: Nintendo Dr. MarioDr. PeachDr. BowserDr. Bowser Jr.Dr. LuigiDr. ToadDr. ToadetteDr. YoshiDr. LudwigDr. WendyThere are even more assistants that can be called in – and you can use two at a time. They offer smaller perks, like increasing your score by 1%, or a 10% chance of getting extra capsules at the start of a stage. And yet the gameplay has to remain easy to pick up and play in spurts. The core concept in Dr. Mario World counts your usage of two-colored capsules and encourages you to use as few as possible, but there's a lot more to it than that. Yes, you can think of the gameplay as closer to Candy Crush, but one of the knocks to the many Dr. Mario sequels over the years has been it didn't advance the formula enough. Of the 200 stages at launch, we found several variations to the gameplay. Sometimes matching Koopa shells colors triggered a satisfying row-clearing effect, other times frozen viruses need to be color-matched twice (once to break the ice and another to eliminate them). You'll also find viruses in jail which need to be freed by eliminating a keyhole first, and classic-looking bombs that take out every virus around it. There's a lot more nuance to Dr. Mario World than the NES original in 1990s and the parade of capsules moves up the playing field, not down. Both changes are a direct result of today's smartphone environment and, thankfully, don't break the gameplay flow we know and love. They only enhance it. Dr. Mario World achieved this, at least during our 20-minute play sessions, and we were digging the "Fever" and "Chill" remixed music while eliminating viruses. It's Nintendo's best mobile addiction yet – and it's available today. You could play Dr. Mario on any phone, but if you want to go for gusto, check our list of the best smartphones for gaminghttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/M1OXVyqd22o

With smartphones continuing to eat away at the consumer end of the camera market, it probably won't come as a surprise to many that things have been tough for the big photography players in recent years. But a recent report from Japanese business publication Nikkei highlights just how each of the big players fared last year - and while they've shuffled around a bit of their market share, overall sales have markedly dropped. Camera rumors 2019: the biggest and best camera rumors aroundHere are the 10 best cameras you can buy right nowCanon vs Nikon: which camera should you buy?Digicame Info has highlighted a report in Japanese business publication Nikkei that states that 20.29m Digital Stills Camera (DSC) units were shipped last year, which represents a 22% decrease on 2017. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/XEQZSpq2GjESDSL32RTkG8.jpg Image credit: CIPA Canon emerged as the victor here, with its 40.5% share of the market representing a 3.5% increase on its 2017 numbers. Rival Nikon saw its share contract by 2.7% to 19.1% overall, while Sony's 17.7% share dropped by 0.7% from where it was in 2017. Fujifilm and Olympus may have much smaller shares than the above brands, but a 1.3% increase helped Fujifilm to increase its portion to 5.1% while Olympus's share crept up by a teeny 0.1% to 2.8% overall. Between them, these five manufacturers hold 85.2% of the market share, with the remainder split between Panasonic, Ricoh Imaging and others. As concerning as it is to see that unit shipments dropped by so much last year, it's arguably more worrying that this trend appears set to continue throughout 2019. Figures provided up until May of this year show a consecutive year-on-year decline in shipments of interchangeable-lens cameras for every month so far (below), despite the fact that the past twelve months have welcomed a number of new models in fresh mirrorless systems. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/WXWyP7ZmiZhkWuC68svQ2N.jpg Image credit: CIPA These include Canon's EOS R and Nikon Z6 and Z7 cameras, through to the more recent Panasonic S1R and S1 series models, in addition to fresh cameras from Fujifilm, Olympus and others. We'll have to wait some time before we know whether the rest of the year pans out the same way, but, at least right now, it's not looking too rosy. Apple has revealed a surprise refresh, updating the 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, while giving the latter a price cut – and entirely dropping the 12-inch MacBook from its laptop line-up. The refreshed MacBook Air now has True Tone technology added to the Retina display, which automatically adjusts the color temperature for a more natural and comfortable viewing experience. MacBook Air keyboard flaws keep popping upHow to reset a MacBook ProThese are the very best laptops of 2019The other big move is lowering the price of the entry-level MacBook Air to £1,099 ($1,099, AU$1,699, AED 4,699) – with college students getting the notebook at an even cheaper price, Apple promises. As for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, the entry-level model sticks with the same price tag in this case at £1,299 ($1,299, AU$1,999, AED 5,539), although it will again be available more cheaply for students. However, that entry-level machine gets a considerable boost with the introduction of an 8th-generation Intel Core i5 quad-core processor (1.4GHz, with boost to 3.9GHz), which Apple claims makes it twice as powerful compared to its predecessor. The other major changes are the introduction of the Touch Bar and Touch ID, meaning that all the MacBook Pro models now have the Touch Bar (the base offering didn’t before). Plus, the 13-inch MacBook Pro gets the True Tone Retina display and Apple’s T2 security chip, to boot. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/g26qyLwNp6Q5kasuUsGVff.jpg Apple's refreshed MacBook Pro 13-inch (Image credit: Apple) Beats incorporatedStudents will also be pleased to hear that the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro will be part of Apple’s Back to School promotion (which begins today), so not only do you get the aforementioned money knocked off, but you also receive a pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones bundled. So, the MacBook Air definitely just became more tempting for students, and indeed for everyone given that Apple’s asking price has been reduced by £100 or $100 for all-comers. One of our complaints regarding last year’s MacBook Air was the way it considerably bumped up the asking price on the entry-level, and at least the new £1,099 or $1,099 (AU$1,699) price point looks more palatable. As we mentioned at the outset, if you look on the Apple website now, the only laptops offered are the revamped MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, with the 12-inch MacBook doing a vanishing act. A recent rumor suggested that Apple would refresh the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro along with the launch of macOS Catalina later this year, but it appears the company couldn’t wait. You've probably heard of Garmin, which is why you've come to this list of the best Garmin watches. You might not know that for 30 years the brand has been making devices for the automotive, aviation and marine industries, but it's now getting notable success in fitness. There are loads of Garmin watches to choose from. Most serious runners are decked out in something from this brand, thanks to ease of use, decent prices and - most importantly - accurate and powerful tracking. Garmin also has one of the widest portfolios, from the budget Forerunner 10 to the expensive-but-powerful Fenix 5 Plus range, and its devices are among the best running watches you can buy right now. Garmin has also been finding success as a smartwatch maker too, and with stellar battery life and on-wrist notifications, some of those listed here are a genuine Apple Watch 4 alternative. There are new devices such as the Forerunner 245 and Forerunner 945, but we've yet to include these devices in the list until we get to review them. You may want to check this list back on Amazon Prime Day (that's July 15) where we're likely to see some discounts to some of the products you see below We know it can be tricky working out which is right for you, so here's our list of all the top Garmin watches out at the moment, and which ones offer the right specs for you - making sure you don't waste money on the wrong device for you or miss out on a better watch if only you'd spent a little more. Best smartwatch: the top wearables you can buy todayNote: The following watches are ranked from cheapest to most expensive according to RRP at time of writing - prices may vary over time. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/cLM5f7VdRLxk4Hh6F3pPY5.jpg Image Credit: Garmin You won’t find a cheaper heart rate tracking device in the Garmin range, so this is an option for those on a budget who want to use a heart rate strap to check their pulse while jogging. It’s perhaps fair to say that the Garmin Forerunner 15 is not the most aesthetically pleasing watch in the world (or even in the Garmin range), and it is often criticized for its flimsy build and basic screen, but then this is still a relatively affordable watch that you’re not buying for its looks. As with all Garmin watches, the Forerunner 15 enables the user to sync their data with Garmin Connect, opening up a whole other level of analysis and sharing. Coupled with the heart rate monitoring and activity tracking, this makes the Forerunner 15 a good value option for those looking for a slightly more advanced unit, without a hefty price tag. Read our full Garmin Forerunner 15 review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/PAnFbYLLN8Ahhdeco75tGC.jpg Image Credit: Garmin Despite being at a comparable price-point to the Forerunner 15, the Forerunner 25 takes things up a technical notch, courtesy of its Bluetooth and smartwatch capabilities. As a running watch, it boasts a very similar list of features and metrics to the less advanced watches above, but the addition of Bluetooth pairing makes the Forerunner 25 an appealing upgrade. The Forerunner 25 boasts a larger screen than the Forerunner 15, yet it is also more slimline and, frankly, a nicer-looking watch. While the running functionality is still relatively basic when looked at in the context of the entire Garmin range, you do get a reasonable selection of metrics (distance, pace, heart rate, calories), along with activity tracking. The key selling point of this watch, though, has to be the ability to instantly upload your data onto Garmin Connect via Bluetooth – a feature which elevates the Forerunner 25 above its similarly-priced family members, which need to be connected by USB. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Qg3jGe4Go99CZP4eENjvHZ.jpg Image Credit: Garmin The new Garmin Forerunner 30 is a replacement - oddly - for the device that's above it in the list - the Forerunner 35 is actually older. This new model offers similar features - in fact, very similar indeed. The screen, weight, size and strap are all the same, and its main extra feature is that it offers cycling auto-detection. In our review of the Forerunner 30, we said it was "a pared-back run tracker that packs in some serious features" and gave it four stars out of five. If you can find it for the less money than the Forerunner 30 - the watch coming up next in this list - we'd recommend picking up the Forerunner 35 instead. Read our full Garmin Forerunner 30 review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FgCzErR7vY4tV7e9pNs24Z.jpg Image Credit: Garmin Jumping up another price bracket now, and we’re faced with the Forerunner 35, a more fashion-conscious mid-range unit that's packing some powerful functions. The most obvious difference between the 35 and all of the watches detailed above is the introduction of Garmin’s Elevate technology, which enables heart rate monitoring at the wrist. This addition means you don’t have to go to the trouble of donning a chest strap before every run, and it also enables the unit to measure your heart rate throughout the day, building up a detailed profile. While this is clearly of benefit, the wrist-based heart rate monitoring is not without its faults, particularly when it comes to tracking heart rate during interval sessions. When compared to the heart rate readings of a traditional chest-mounted monitor, the wrist-based version is a little slow to react to rapid rises and falls in heart rate, although it performs well on steadier runs. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/SzBBNcFcXQuwz88iHaNUga.jpg Image Credit: Garmin Then there's the Forerunner 45, which is a reworked version of the Forerunner 35 and was released in the first half of 2019. There are a few additional wellness features that make the Forerunner 45 stand out compared to the other devices you've read about above. It comes with everything you'd expect in terms of a heart rate sensor, sleep tracking and a variety of smartwatch features, but the highlight here may be the new Body Battery functionality. This is a metric that Garmin debuted on the Vivofit 4 and combines stats such as stress, heart rate variability and your general activity data to work out your overall energy levels so you can find the optimum time to train and ensure you're not pushing yourself too hard. Overall, the Forerunner 45 isn't the most capable watch on this list but considering it isn't as expensive as some of the devices coming up on this list you may want to go for it. Read the full Garmin Forerunner 45 review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/qcwig8ehyfQam8vHhArqbi.jpg Image Credit: Garmin The Forerunner 230 was part of Garmin’s triple launch towards the end of 2015, when the 230, 235 and 630 were all announced to the running world. The 230 is the cheapest and least advanced of the trio, by virtue of it not having a built-in heart rate monitor, but it does have smartwatch capabilities and a very respectable battery life. The 230 also includes some interesting post-run metrics, such as VO2 max calculation and Training Effect. The watch will give you a VO2 max value at the end of a run (if it has changed) and the Training Effect data can help you understand how much of an impact a given run has had on your body (this is massively oversimplifying a much more intelligent feature). For those runners who are partial to a bit of two-wheeled action, the 230 helpfully includes a cycling mode, and the unit can be paired with ANT+ speed and cadence sensors as well. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/yXCLEdSCQ7gibY5Lg6doU9.jpg Image Credit: Garmin The Garmin Forerunner 235 is very similar to the 230, which it was launched alongside at the back end of 2015. The 235 builds on the 230, though, in that it features Garmin’s Elevate technology. As has been mentioned above, this wrist-based innovation is not without its pitfalls, but it does account for the difference in price between the 230 and 235. The 235 offers music controls and audio announcements (if you don’t mind bringing your phone along for the run) and you’re also able to pick up smart notifications for calls, messages and social media updates. This impressive list of functions, coupled with the stylish appearance of the 235, makes it a formidable package that is tough to beat - and it's constantly getting discounted at the moment. Read the full Garmin Forerunner 235 review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/CP83nM8LCWEVzVGo2uLAni.jpg Image Credit: Garmin The versatile Garmin Vivoactive range offers super-detailed activity tracking capabilities complete with powerful GPS and heart rate sensors that make it suitable for everyday runners who also like to track general activity. The third edition, the Vivoactive 3, includes the new Garmin Pay contactless payments platform (UK launch pending) and access to loads of apps (Uber, Accuweather, etc.) and watch faces via the Connect IQ store, not to mention plenty of smartwatch connectivity. There are 15 preloaded sport apps and the 5ATM water resistance makes it a perfect swimming companion. With a 13-hour GPS battery life, it also offers far greater longevity than the Forerunner series, and the stainless steel bezels make it one of the more attractive fitness-themed smartwatches out there. Read the Garmin Vivoactive 3 review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/JcVeHcP3HV8FLesAf5NYkC.jpg Image Credit: Garmin The third watch that was first introduced to the market in Garmin’s three-pronged 2015 launch is still one of the most exciting the company has produced. Commanding the biggest price tag of the three, it also boasts the most varied array of features, despite not having heart rate at the wrist. This advanced smartwatch lays claim to helping runners track just about every metric they can possibly imagine. As well as the VO2 max function discussed above, the Garmin Forerunner 630 will estimate your Lactate Threshold, stress levels and ‘Performance Condition’ (which gives an insight into how much energy your muscles have left while running), while advanced running dynamics such as ground contact time, balance, stride length and vertical ratio offer a whole new dimension of tracking and analysis. There really is plenty for the data nerds to get their teeth into with this one – plus, it looks better on your wrist than models from previous years. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/66c01812fe731aa428729769dc9a60e1.jpg Image Credit: Garmin A really great running watch that will entice those that like using buttons over the touchscreen of the Forerunner 630, the 735XT is a great watch for those that want to push into the world of triathlons. It doesn't have the battery life of the Forerunner 630, but very similar stylings and we're loving the blue frost colouring that adorns one of the versions. It's also got a wrist-based heart rate monitor too, so you've got access to your pulse without a chest strap. It's skill is in the variety of activities it can track - with smart notifications built in, it's a quality watch for the triathlete. Read our full Garmin Forerunner 735XT review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ATcQdeHaN4X62wLwWFbFNn.jpg Image Credit: Garmin In an overdue move, the Garmin Forerunner 645 Music finally lets you add tunes to your running with its latest model. The first running watch out of the Gamin stable in 2018 has room for 500 songs, either through offline playlist transfer or downloads, meaning you can leave the phone at home. The main draw here is the stylish design, where the stainless steel bezel make this the most attractive (and lightweight) Garmin to strap to your wrist. It's also a very capable multi-sport model too, with only the lack of open-water swimming and triathlon mode missing. However, we're not fans of this watch, and would go as far to say it's one of the weakest on the list, thanks to there not being an option to sync music from a streaming source. It was supposed to allow you to do this from Deezer or iHeartRadio but that's not materialized yet. The battery life is also a bit short - it's fine when running, but as a connected device, it could be a lot better. The 935, which isn't that much more expensive, does nearly everything the 645 can (minus music playback) and wipes the floor with it in terms of battery performance. Read our full Garmin Forerunner 645 Music review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/R2ATkFuGGvXVNs6H4p2tJ8.jpg Image Credit: Garmin Looking for a sleek watch that can, well, track pretty much anything? The Garmin Forerunner 935 is one of the best out there in terms of not only the sports it can track, but how it tracks them. There's a barometric altimeter, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer and thermometer in there - meaning you'll get all the information you can from your activity. Like most of the watches here, you can upload easily to Strava and that'll include the heart rate data even without a strap, thanks to that being built into the watch with Garmin's Elevate tech. In short, this is one of our favorite fitness watches... a great buy if you can afford the extra outlay for the battery life if nothing else. Read our full Garmin Forerunner 935 review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/DeuzfRf3BySEXmapVnFSyi.jpg Image Credit: Garmin The Fenix 5 is almost identical to the Forerunner 935, but comes in a larger, more robust frame with greater colors and the same multisport functionality. It can track everything with all the same sensors, has smart notifications and the same GPS accuracy - in short, this is the watch for you if you want to be equally as adept at climbing mountains as looking great at work. Plus there's the Garmin Fenix 5S and Fenix 5X that come with slightly better features than you get on the basic Fenix 5 product. Read our Garmin Fenix 5 review http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/H3XF3BCez8dhKEumHk8zWL.jpg Image Credit: Garmin Then there's the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus. This comes with storage so you can listen to music, Garmin Pay and fully routable color topo maps that make it a solid upgrade of the original Fenix 5. The price is still high, but if you're looking for a running watch at the top of its game; this is probably it. The battery life isn't as good as we'd hoped for, but it's solid enough to last most of your adventures. There's also the Garmin Fenix 5S Plus and Garmin Fenix 5X Plus to choose from too, with the latter of the two devices being the most feature rich Garmin watch you can buy right now. Read our full Garmin Fenix 5 Plus review What's next? Rumors of a Garmin Fenix 6 series have been building, and we may see the company introduce it in the future. So who's going to have their name inscribed on the Wimbledon 2019 trophies by the end of Sunday? We're down to only eight options on both side of the draw, with all the usual names (Williams, Halep, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic) still in contention. So get out the strawberries and cream and watch all the action with a Wimbledon live stream...no matter where in the world you are. This is the 133rd Wimbledon Championships and there have been plenty of talking points already at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Despite homegrown hero Andy Murray not being fit enough to play in the singles this year, he is playing doubles and is forming a formidable team with the awesome Serena Williams. Last year saw Novak Djokovic win the gentlemen's singles title and Angelique Kerber take the ladies' singles title. Since then Djokovic has won the Australian Open while Rafael Nadal took victory at the French Open. This year's hot favourite to take the silverware home from Wimbledon is Djokovic with Roger Federer and Nadal closely following. The women's favourite is Serena Williams followed by Simona Halep - but the raucous British support will be hoping that Johanna Konta can bring home the ladies' title for the first time in over 40 years. You can live stream Wimbledon 2019 tennis using the guide below so read on to find out how to get your lawn tennis fix from anywhere in the world. Not so much luck if you're across the Atlantic - sorry US tennis fans. But if you don't have easy access to watch Wimbledon when away from your country and want to catch all of that geo-blocked domestic coverage, then you can still watch it by downloading and installing a VPN. That way you can login to a server back in your country and then watch as if you were sat in the British Isles. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/B9XNGCRYNHKJzN5zVfTMje.jpg How to live stream Wimbledon 2019 in the UK for freeLive stream Wimbledon for FREE at Wimbledon.com and YouTubeWimbledon.com is globally live streaming action and that goes for Wimbledon's YouTube channel, too, so handy if you want to watch via an app on your mobile phone or tablet. The trouble is, assuming Wimbledon 2019 is the same as last year, it doesn't have the rights to show the big action from the show courts - that becomes a particular problem if you're only interested in the top seeds and as the fortnight reaches its climax. There's long been a 35mm f/1.8-shaped hole in Sony's FE lens line up. But now finally, after plenty of speculation that it was about to do so, Sony has confirmed the optic's existence. The FE 35mm F/1.8 is designed for Sony's full-frame Alpha models, which include the A7 III and A7R III. And with a weight of 280g, it's also said to be the lightest lens of its kind. Sony Alpha A7S III: everything we know so farBest mirrorless camera 2019: 10 top modelsWhat else is coming? Camera rumors 2019Built around 11 elements spread across 9 groups, the lens includes a single aspherical element to help combat spherical aberration and distortion. It arrives with a dust- and moisture-resistant build together with a useful close focusing distance of 22cm, as well as a nine-bladed diaphragm for smooth bokeh. Sony claims the optic delivers outstanding corner-to-corner image quality, as well as quiet autofocus from its linear motor. Unusually for an optic of this sort, it's also been fashioned with a focus-hold button, in addition to its focus mode switch. While intended for users of full-frame bodies, the optic can also be partnered with APS-C-format cameras such as the A6400, whereupon it delivers an effective focal length of 52.5mm. Sony APS-C camera owners do, however, already have the E 35mm F1.8 OSS lens designed for their cameras as an option. The new arrival brings Sony's lens lineup to 52 offerings, with 34 of these producing an image circle wide enough to match full-frame sensors. It comes just weeks after the company announced the Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS and FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lenses. The lens will be available from August, with an asking price of $750 in the US and £630 in the UK (around AU$1,080). That's not exactly cheap, but it is at least on a par with other 35mm f/1.8 lenses released for other full-frame mirrorless systems. Pricing for Australia is still to be confirmed. The owner of the Marriott hotel chain is set to face a £99m fine following a data breach that left thousand of customer details exposed. The fine from the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) comes after the personal data of approximately 339 million guest records globally were breachedd following a cyberattack. The breach was referred to the ICO by Marriott in November 2018 as around 30 million of those customers affected were residents of 31 countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) - and seven million related to UK residents, meaning it fell under GDPR legislation. What is GDPR? Everything you need to knowBritish Airways hit with £138m data breach fine500 million Marriott customers affected by data breachFinedThe breach dates back to 2014, when Starwood hotels group was hit by an attack on its systems. Starwood was acquired by Marriott in 2016, but customer data continued to be leaked until the breach was discovered in 2018. The ICO said that Marriott had fully co-operated in investigating the breach, and has since upped its security protections, but its investigation found that the company "failed to undertake sufficient due diligence when it bought Starwood and should also have done more to secure its systems." "The GDPR makes it clear that organisations must be accountable for the personal data they hold," Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham said. "This can include carrying out proper due diligence when making a corporate acquisition, and putting in place proper accountability measures to assess not only what personal data has been acquired, but also how it is protected." “Personal data has a real value so organisations have a legal duty to ensure its security, just like they would do with any other asset. If that doesn’t happen, we will not hesitate to take strong action when necessary to protect the rights of the public.” http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7nFUScNqssCqAANmZefPDm.jpg (Image credit: Shutterstock.com) The news comes hours after British Airways was hit with a £138m fine following a data breach earlier this year which saw around half a million customer accounts being compromised. “We knew GDPR had teeth. Now we can see how bad it can bite," Ilias Chantzos, Symantec's senior director government affairs EMEA commented. "Yesterday’s £183m and today’s £99m fines have solidified GDPR as a very serious piece of legislation, and one that is putting an organisation’s cyber security challenges and budget into an entirely new context. Make no mistake, the EU devised GDPR and regulation such as the NIS Directive to improve the standard of cyber putting crucial requirements in place to protect consumers, organisations and our critical infrastructure.” The best antivirus of 2019http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/siAkUvmfri4

With a next-generation PlayStation just around the corner, we can't help but think about the games we may see on the upcoming PS5. Will see some new IPs? Maybe the return of some beloved PlayStation classics? Sony has had huge success with its PS4 exclusives, particularly post-apocalyptic RPG Horizon Zero Dawn. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best-selling games on the PS4, selling over 10 million copies and cementing itself as a must-have title. So it would make perfect sense for Guerrilla Games to develop a sequel, right? It seems that is exactly what's happening. While neither Sony nor Guerrilla Games have announced a Horizon Zero Dawn 2 is in the works, one of the game's voice actors spilled the beans earlier this year and essentially confirmed a sequel is on the way. We've gathered together all the rumors and news surrounding Horizon Zero Dawn 2 for your perusal right here. Horizon Zero Dawn 2 release datehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/oqgU9K3n4Sz8Je3QA2reBi.png Image credit: Guerrilla Games Considering neither Sony nor Guerrilla Games has confirmed Horizon Zero Dawn 2 is in the works, it's hard to pin down when we'll actually see the sequel. What we do know for sure is it's probably not anytime soon. However, we're expecting Horizon Zero Dawn 2 to either be a next-generation or cross-generation PlayStation title, which means we can expect to see it release on the PS5 (maybe even as a launch title). If that's the case, and Horizon Zero Dawn 2 is a next-gen release, then we probably won't see it until after the PlayStation 5 releases – or alongside it. Tech reporter Takahishi Mochizuki revealed details of a transcribed conversation during a Sony earnings call in April, which specified that "no next-gen PlayStation [would] launch over next 12 months." That means we won't be seeing the console before mid-2020 – meaning we probably won't be seeing Horizon Zero Dawn 2 before then either and making late 2020 the most likely release window. However, it's entirely possible that the sequel will release on PS4 sooner than that and then be a cross-generation title, with a PS5 version releasing at a later date. But, we think this is unlikely. Horizon Zero Dawn 2 news and rumors http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/3VhkMECjVZJ8csnLjc7csG.jpg Image credit: Guerrilla Games Loose lips sink ships Voice actor Janina Gavankar, who was behind the voice of Tatai in The Frozen Wilds DLC for Horizon Zero Dawn, let it slip that Guerrilla Games is working on the next game in the series. In a video clip, taken during a Star Wars convention earlier this year, Gavankar says to a fan "wait 'til you see the sequel" and tells her "you're gonna die" when the Horizon Zero Dawn 2 finally gets its big reveal. This is the closest thing we've got to confirmation that a sequel is in the works. A sequel makes sense The original Horizon Zero Dawn has sold 10 million copies and is the most popular new franchise ever to launch on the PS4 - so it's almost certain that Guerrilla Games will release a sequel. PlayStation exclusive Between the success of Horizon Zero Dawn and Aloy becoming a mascot of the PlayStation brand, we don't think Sony will be letting go of its exclusivity deal with Guerrilla Games. So we can expect a sequel to arrive on Sony consoles only - whether that's the PS4, PS4 Pro or PS5 currently remains to be seen. Horizon Zero Dawn 2: what we want to seehttp://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/cnWAkhxY93ftXBs37Q6QTo.jpg Image credit: Guerrilla Games Bring Aloy back Though the end of Horizon Zero Dawn kind of wrapped Aloy's story up in a neat little bow, we would still like her to remain the protagonist. Luckily, it looks like she might. Speaking to GamesRadar in 2018, managing director of Guerrilla Games, Hermen Hulst, suggested that Aloy's story isn't quite finished yet. “She’s really uncovered some of the main mysteries in the world, but how do you feel when you finish the story?" Hulst said. "Are there questions that come up that you want to relive and answer for Aloy? It was not difficult for us to build the Frozen Wilds and tell that story through Aloy. The environments and the world that we’ve put together easily raise more questions.” New environments and tribes to uncover We've seen grasslands, mountains and tundra, but we're hoping the sequel will take us somewhere new entirely – perhaps somewhere with desert dunes or long-lost cities. It would be great to see more of Horizon's post apocalyptic world and uncover some more history. In addition, we want to see more tribes with varying cultures and beliefs. More DLC Horizon Zero Dawn's: Frozen Wilds DLC added a hefty amount of content to the game post-launch, bringing players back by further fleshing out Horizon's world and characters. It's early days but we're hoping Guerrilla Games has DLC planned for the sequel that will shake things up. UAE telcos Etisalat and du have launched 5G networks and Huawei is one of the first manufacturers to make use of this cutting edge technology with the release of the Mate 20 X (5G) edition. The benefits of 5G include low latency and incredibly fast speeds. How fast? Check the video below comparing 4G and 5G speeds in the UAE tested on the HUAWEI Mate 20 X (5G). As with any new technology, 5G roll-out will be in multiple phases with changing standards and you don’t want to get stuck with a 5G phone that will not evolve. The HUAWEI Mate 20 X (5G) is the first commercial 5G smartphone from Huawei and features the Balong 5000 chip that is the world’s first 7nm 5G multi-mode terminal chip and we’re here to tell you why that is important. Non-standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA) 5G networksAt the moment, telecom operators have adopted two mainstream network architectures for the rollout of 5G - Non-standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA). The first wave 5G networks will be classed as Non-Standalone (NSA) which means that network operators will be using their existing 4G cell towers and infrastructure with 5G radios to provide a 5G signal. However moving forward there will be a switch to the 5G Standalone (SA) network which is the ultimate true 5G solution. The advantage of Standalone (SA) is simplification and improved efficiency, and this migration will be unnoticeable to users. Huawei Mate 20 X (5G) supports all the standardsThe Huawei Mate 20 X (5G) is the world’s first 5G smartphone that works on both SA (Standalone) and NSA (Non-Standalone) network architecture. If you purchase a phone that only supports the current (NSA), then your phone will not work when (SA) 5G networks are introduced. Also, for anyone who travels, it is essential to get a phone that supports both network architectures so you’re not left without network connectivity during important business travels. The HUAWEI Mate 20 X (5G) is also the world’s first Dual-SIM 5G smartphone that supports Dual-SIM features (5G SIM+4G SIM). With its dual-card design that supports 4G and 5G dual-SIM cards, the HUAWEI Mate 20 X (5G) will let you stay connected to any network while traveling or accessing roaming services. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/9R22MkM4sgErwHH6YvYgVQ.jpg Efficiency to power your 5G connectivityWith a 7nm 5G baseband chip as well as the chipset, the HUAWEI Mate 20 X (5G) is super-efficient with power consumption. The phone's innovative use of graphene and liquid cooling technology further enhances thermal performance. Users will not need to worry about heating issues with the phone, even when playing large-scale 3D games over a 5G network. 5G will introduce high fidelity media, game streaming, and social and productivity app functionalities, and thus a need for more power. Huawei Mate 20 X (5G) delivers exceptional battery life, AI smart power management systems, high-capacity batteries, and super-fast charging and cooling capabilities. It houses a 4200mAh (typical value) high-density battery that powers the device’s high performance levels. Additionally, this is supported by the 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge, a fast charging solution certified by TÜV Rheinland, an authoritative and independent international organization that provides product safety assessment and certification services. The HUAWEI Mate 20 X (5G) is the king of 5G phonesIf you’re looking to pick up a 5G-enabled phone, you should only consider one that is compatible with all existing networking standards as well as the upcoming standards that have been announced for global 5G networks. The HUAWEI Mate 20 X 5G is currently the only phone* that supports all officially announced 5G standards along with 4G and dual SIM connectivity making it not only an ideal 5G phone but the king of 5G phones. *Claim based on comparison with all 5G smartphones currently announced on or before 4th July 2019.” http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/7PtOwJhRnZA

Since the first use of advanced software in asset-intensive industries such as utilities, airports, ports, road, rail and mining more than four decades ago, manufacturers have been on a journey to transform their businesses and create added value for stakeholders. Today, a fresh generation of technologies, fueled by advances in artificial intelligence based on machine learning, is opening up new opportunities to reassess the upper bounds of operational excellence across these sectors. To stay one step ahead of the pack, businesses not only need to understand the complexities of machine learning but also be prepared to act on it and take advantage. After all, the latest machine learning solutions can determine weeks in advance if and when assets are likely to degrade or fail, distinguishing between normal and abnormal equipment and process behavior by recognizing complex data patterns and uncovering the precise signatures of degradation and failure. Anomaly detection“They can alert operators and even prescribe solutions to avoid the impending failure, or at least mitigate the consequences. The software constructs are autonomous and self-learning. They demonstrate a capability known as unsupervised machine learning, a specific method of learning patterns of performance or behavior using clustering techniques,” said Mike Brooks, Senior Director at Massachusetts-based asset optimization software company AspenTech. Moreover, he said that it can be used to understand ‘normal’ operational behavior, based on signals from sensors on and around machines, and once the behavioral patterns are learned, analysis of new data can help detect deviations from the norm, called anomalies, highlighting mechanical issues and process changes that affect specific pieces of equipment. However, he said the downside is that anomaly detection based on unsupervised learning may be fraught with errors and always requires human intervention. “It is good at detecting correlations but less effective at working out causation. Unaided machine learning may find correlations that can be complete nonsense, such as the meaningless but the true correlation between reduced highway deaths in the US and the number of tonnes of lemons the country imports from Mexico,” he said. Correlation is not the same as causationWhen unsupervised machine learning detects an anomaly, Brooks said the change in behavior patterns could be just a new operating mode, or it could be an impending failure. A human must take a look at the machine and decide which of the options is correct, he said, but such manual intervention can then help machine learning learn and adapt, effectively ensuring that moving forward it always provides analysis the business can trust. After all, he added that correlation is not the same as causation, so machine learning needs human guidance to learn properly. For example, he said that voice recognition technologies use machine learning, but cannot learn without help. The technology assessments need to be highly-stewarded by humans, who intercept unresolved phrases and apply translations to assist learning techniques. Human involvement needed Similarly, Brooks said that credit card fraud detection needs help to learn to recognize spending behavior. The credit card company might ask “Are you attempting to purchase an air ticket in Paris?” The credit card issuer uses machine learning to understand your normal spending patterns and now recognizes an abnormal event. “A simple input of yes or no characterizes the detected anomaly and ensures that the technology learns to recognize any future spending as normal or fraud,” he said. Brooks said that supervised machine learning, similarly, needs human involvement to work effectively and it requires an individual to declare an event and the time and date it occurred. Then, he said the technology must learn the signature of the precise patterns that lead to that event, which in the asset-intensive industries could, for example, be a machine failure due to an exact cause such as bearing failure. “The technology learns and calibrates the precise degradation and failure pattern and then tests new incoming data streams to find exact pattern recurrences, to then alert well before the failure occurs, allowing the action to avoid the failure or provide time to arrange a timely repair before major damage occurs. The results are much lower maintenance costs and more up-time producing valuable products,” he said. Bright prospectsMorris also urged business owners who run the day-to-day operations of the company across asset-intensive industries to start taking advantage of the many benefits that machine learning can already bring in terms of running their facilities more efficiently and optimizing asset performance. In today’s crowded marketplaces, he said there is a window of opportunity to use machine learning to predict asset performance, drive business advantage and develop a competitive edge. “Unsupervised machine learning can take businesses part of the way by helping to identify anomalies in an asset or plant performance, but organisations must be aware that to perform at optimum levels, machine learning needs human guidance and intelligence. It still needs guide-rails to find and solve the right problems,” he said. Asset-intensive businesses need to act on this understanding now, he said and added that those that do will be best placed to take advantage of the new era of machine learning and ensure that by measuring actual patterns of asset behavior and extracting real insight and automatically developing foresight, they can optimize asset performance across their entire operations. Spotify Lite for Android is now official, launching today across 36 countries. The lightweight version of Spotify's main app weighs in at only 10MB, and is designed primarily for users with smartphones running Android 4.3 and higher. The app has been in testing for a while now, and its launch marks an important move for Spotify. Other lightweight versions of regular apps - such as Facebook - are primarily designed to run on older, slower handsets, which don't always have the muscle to run the full version, either due to older specifications or outdated software. Spotify Lite still works like the regular app, and allows both free and premium users to search for and stream music, but with a few features that are essential to the Lite app. For one, users will be able to control the amount of data the app uses, so those on smaller data plans don't run out. The app will notify users when this limit is reached, so there's no worry of the app eating up your precious data plan in the background. Users will also be able to clear the app's cache with a single tap, which is ideal for phones with limited amounts of free storage. At the moment the company has no formal plans to bring the app to iOS, but Android users can download the app now from the Google Play store. Canon's PowerShot G5 X found a lot of love among enthusiasts wanting a DSLR-like shooting experience inside a far more compact form, but the company has now updated the model with a second-generation follow-up – and it's a fair bit different. We've already spent some time with the new camera, so check out our hands-on Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II review. The PowerShot G5 X Mark II is the first Canon camera of its kind to have a pop-up EVF inside a compact body. This is released via a catch to its side, and needs to be pulled back before being used, a setup that apes the likes of the Sony RX100 Mark III, RX100 Mark IV and RX100 Mark V models. Best Canon camera 2019: 10 quality optionsCanon vs Nikon: Which should you buy?Sensor sizes explained: what you need to knowThe viewfinder itself is a 0.39-inch type EVF with a 2.36 million-dot resolution and an option to boost its refresh rate to a 120fps with the Smoothness Priority mode. It also has a 20mm eye point and promises no blackout, and it's joined by a 3-inch, 1.04 million-dot touchscreen that can be adjusted to face the front. The sensor, processing engine and lens have all changed too. The sensor is a 20.1MP stacked CMOS design, while the processor is the familiar DIGIC 8 engine that has featured in the likes of the EOS M50 and EOS RP mirrorless cameras, as well as the EOS Rebel SL3 / EOS 250D DSLR. This engine also allows for 4K video recording with no crop factor, as well as the same 30fps Raw Shooting burst mode as the camera's launch partner, the PowerShot G7 X Mark III. With regards to its optics, the camera sports a new 5x optical zoom lens that travels between 35mm-equivalent focal lengths of 24-120mm, with an aperture of f/1.8-2.8. To help ensure nicely rounded defocused points of light, the diaphragm inside it is made up of nine blades. Battery life is rated at a middling 230 shots per charge, although USB charging is possible. It's also possible to shoot while the battery is being charged, which is very welcome considering how rare a feature this is. The PowerShot G5 X Mark II will hit shelves during August, and will arrive with an asking price of £849.99 in the UK, $899 in the US and AU$1,430 in Australia. Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III is a 4K-shooting vloggers delight
sincity posted a topic in Technology
Canon's PowerShot G7 X Mark III and PowerShot G5 X Mark II models have been among the company's worst-kept secrets for some time, with leaked images and specs of both recently surfacing. But the wait is now officially over, as full specs, pricing and availability have been confirmed. The PowerShot G7 X Mark III was subject to over a year's worth of speculation, following the 2016 PowerShot G7 X Mark II, which proved to be a particular smash among videographers. Capitalizing on that popularity, Canon has buffed and tweaked that model to create a follow-up that's even better suited to that audience. Best Canon camera 2019: 10 quality optionsRead our in-depth Canon PowerShot SX740 HS reviewNeed a new camera? Canon vs Nikon: which camera should you buy?It is, for example, the first Canon camera of its kind to allow for livestreaming to YouTube, while support for vertical shooting is also on hand for those wishing to embed their videos within Instagram Stories. There's even a pre-record mode, which can capture a second of footage prior to recording being instigated. Thanks to the latest DIGIC 8 engine, the camera is also capable of 4K video recording to 30p with no crop (outside of that needed to satisfy the 4K UHD aspect ratio), as well as 100/120p recording when shooting in Full HD for slow-motion playback. Grabbing frames from captured 4K footage is also possible in-camera, as is video capture in an HDR mode. Other video-oriented features include a touch-sensitive LCD screen that flips all the way around to face the front, as well as a selfie-friendly user interface. The camera is also equipped with a built-in ND filter and a 3.5mm mic port (though no hotshoe), as well as clean HDMI output. The same, but different The new model shares its 20MP resolution with the Mark II that it updates, although it's been blessed with a new 20.1MP stacked 1-inch CMOS sensor, once again with a back-illuminated design. This offers a native sensitivity range covering ISO125-12,800, and an expansion to an ISO25,600-equivalent setting. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/VmdvCFuYgyAVpxXAEpZwqG.jpg Image credit: TechRadar There's also a new 30fps Raw Shooting setting, as well as support for the space-efficient CR3 raw format that first starred inside the EOS M50 mirrorless camera Some things haven't changed, though. The lens is the same as the PowerShot G7 X Mark II's, with a 35mm-equivalent range of 24-100mm, and there have been no changes to the maximum aperture of f/1.8-2.8 either. The previously seen Star Mode and Star Trails options have been retained, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi also feature, as does the option to append GPS information when hooked up to a smart device running the Canon Camera Connect app. Other features include panoramic shooting in both horizontal and vertical orientations, together with focus bracketing for up to 100 frames, and an improved Auto Lighting Optimizer. Battery life is rated to 265 frames per charge, and it's possible to charge this through the camera's USB port. The PowerShot G7 X Mark III is already available in both black and black/silver options for purchase from Canon in Australia for an asking price of $1,210. However, our UK and US fans will have to wait till early August for the G7 X Mark III, and it will set you back £699.99 / $749. Canon already showed its RF lens hand back in February when it revealed that it had six new lenses under development, and the first of these, the RF 85mm f/1.2L USM arrived just recently. Now, it's the turn of the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM to make its official entrance. The RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM is only the second non-L series lens in the line so far, following the RF Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM that was announced at the start of the series back in September. And, at least right now, it's only compatible with the two cameras in the EOS R series, the EOS R itself and EOS RP. Camera rumors 2019: the biggest and best camera rumorsBest Canon camera 2019: 10 quality optionsCanon vs Nikon: Which should you buy?Billed as a travel-friendly lens, the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM covers a 10x optical zoom range, which is fairly unusual for a lens designed for an interchangeable-lens camera. The last time Canon achieved this was with the EF 35–350mm f/3.5-5.6L USM, which was released in 1993 for its EOS film SLR cameras. Five-stop IS and Nano USM focusingThe lens has been designed with both zoom and control rings, the latter allowing for manual focus but also capable of being customized to the user's preference, enabling the user to adjust aperture or exposure compensation, for example. Weighing 750g, the lens can focus 0.5m away from the subject when at its widest focal length, and this increases (although not by much) to 0.78m when extended to the 240mm end. As the name makes clear, it's also set to be furnished with an Ultrasonic Motor, here a Nano USM type. This first appeared three years ago inside the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, and more recently in the RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM. The lens's name also highlights the presence of an Image Stabilizer, a feature not found in EOS R and EOS RP bodies; this promises a maximum compensatory effect of five stops, and also has the honor of being the first full-frame Canon lens with Canon's Dynamic IS feature. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/hpn8aGnKJXq9UhvAv49RaV.jpg Canon's RF lens road map. Image credit: Canon As the RF lens roadmap makes clear, the four other lenses we're expecting to arrive before the year is up are the RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM, RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM, RF 85mm f/1.2L USM DS and RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM. Rumors of new telephoto lenses in addition to these have also recently surfaced. The lens will be available from September, and will arrive with an RRP of £899 in the UK and $899.99 in the US. It will also be available in a kit with the EOS RP, priced at £1,999.99 in the UK and $2,199 in the US. Pricing for Australia has not been confirmed as of yet. Streaming video players have come a long way in just 10 years. Back in 2009, almost no one owned a Roku - and Amazon? Prime Video had just come out in 2006, so at that point it was still just a blip on the radar. But 10 years later and Amazon and Roku are two of the biggest names in streaming video players thanks to the Amazon Fire TV and ever-expanding family of Roku players. That said, these days you can find about half a dozen Roku players on the market including the Roku Ultra, Roku Premiere and Roku Express alongside Amazon’s three flagship streaming devices - the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Fire TV Cube. (Note: the Fire TV Cube, Roku Ultra and Roku Premiere are only available in the US, so that's worth keeping in mind.) If you’re not familiar with all the players and what they’re capable of, it can be a lot to take in. But that’s why we’re here to help break down the differences between the hardware and highlight the platforms’ strong suits. Consider this your guide to Streaming Hardware 101. Expect to see some great deals on both Roku and Amazon Fire TV products during Amazon Prime Day 2019 on July 15 and 16What are the key differences? When you think about Amazon Fire TV, you should really be thinking about the Amazon Video streaming service and Alexa voice assistant, as those are its defining features. Sure, Roku can also access Amazon Video, but the streaming service is brought front and center on Amazon streaming hardware. That’s great if you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber… and maybe not so great if you don’t want to pony up for Amazon’s subscription service. That said, however you slice it, having Alexa on a streaming video player is pretty cool. It works almost exactly the same as a smart speaker, except you can ask Alexa to call up some videos for you, too. Add to that the ability to manage your calendar and keep track of your shopping lists, and it’s easy to see why having Alexa is a huge boon for Fire TV. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/GYRpYEEaEqaoAQYaYVeH78.jpeg Pictured: Amazon Fire TV Cube (Image Credit: Amazon) The last key difference between the two is the support for new HDR formats - Roku only supports HDR10, while Amazon Fire TV devices support both HDR10, Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Those formats are important because they offer a better HDR experience for compatible HDR10+ and Dolby Vision TVs - though, of course, it all comes down to how good your TV is on its own. The key selling points for Roku are that it’s platform-agnostic - i.e. Roku doesn’t care which streaming service you use and makes almost all of them available on its hardware - and now has a free, ad-supported streaming service of its own called The Roku Channel that’s available right out of the box. That’s great for cord-cutters, and folks who want extra options when looking for something to watch. Neither option is particularly great at playing games - you’ll want an Nvidia Shield or Apple TV for that - and both can access Kodi by side-loading. Which one is easier to use? Now, obviously, ease-of-use is pretty subjective - some things that come easy to us won’t come easy to you necessarily - but, that caveat aside, we feel that Roku is the easier of the two platforms. It boots you right into the home menu where you can see all the apps you have downloaded, and the app store is visible immediately. The interface is simpler and although a bit dated at this point, it’s probably the one your parents could pick up and use. That’s not to say Amazon Fire TV’s interface is particularly difficult to use - it’s not - but it does place a greater emphasis on Amazon Prime content and finding anything else can take a bit of effort / knowhow. Still, if you know where to look you can find apps for Netflix, PlayStation Vue, Sling TV and all the rest and having content right up front means it’s a bit faster to turn it on and jump right into something to watch. It’s worth pointing out here that, unlike Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra, every single member of the Amazon Fire TV and Roku family of devices comes with a remote. That traditional control scheme makes them a bit easier for the average non-techie to pick up and use, plus the built-in microphone adds a convenience factor for searching for something to watch. We’ll cover more in the next section, but it’s worth pointing out that they’re both easier to use than some other streaming solutions out there. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Fh8rAJ2pzWt4eWvukBUJ6U.jpg Image Credit: Roku Which one has more content? Unless we count up every video on every streaming service on each of these two platforms, it’s impossible to know which of the two has more content to watch. That being said, knowing which streaming services are on each platform and around how much content those have can give us a rough estimate. Both platforms have access to all of the main services Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Sling TV, HBO Go/Now and YouTube, but only Roku also has access to The Roku Channel, that free, ad-supported streaming service we mentioned earlier. It’s also worth pointing out that Roku has more channels than any other platform - though, what Roku considers a ‘channel’ is usually just a bespoke app full of videos you can find on YouTube. Still, if you just want an entire playlist of old Western films, Roku has them and Amazon doesn’t. Of course, it is a bit easier to find content on Roku than it is on Amazon Fire TV - Roku’s search scans a massive number of streaming services and lists them by price with the cheapest options and the ones you subscribe to up front. That’s a great system and one that could save you money in the long run. (It’s worth noting that Amazon has a comprehensive search feature, too, but it does place more of an emphasis on Amazon Video results.) http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FXLN8PyC7nBRMkcFqvxkpA.jpg Image Credit: Roku Which one is cheaper? If you’re comparing the cheapest Roku player to the cheapest Amazon Fire TV player, it’s a tie: you can get both the Roku Express and Amazon Fire TV Stick for just $29 (£25). These are both really good HD streaming devices that will impress folks who still have an HD TV. Of course, if you want a 4K streaming device, you’ll need to step up to the slightly more expensive Roku Premiere ($35) or Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K ($39/£49). You can expect 4K/HDR support from both devices and the entire content library on both devices. If you’re looking for the top-tier players for the best playback experience, the flagship Roku Ultra will set you back $99 while the Amazon Fire TV Cube with Alexa will only cost $79 - though, for now, both are US-exclusive. Either way, it’s a pretty good deal for two of the best streaming devices on the planet. Which one is better? This all depends on who you’re buying for. If you’re buying for someone who really values image quality and has a 4K TV with Dolby Vision, you can’t do any better than the Amazon Fire TV Cube. Not only is it a great streamer, but it’s a great starting point for building a smart home. But, if you’re buying for someone who’s not that technical (read: your parents or grandparents) you might want to get with the most basic Roku streaming device. It’s simple to use and cheap enough that you won’t be breaking the bank. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/v8rzk5T0Ndo

Right now, we're having a tough time thinking of a better time to buy a new graphics card, thanks in large part to the new Nvidia Super RTX graphics cards, and of course, AMD Navi. Why's that? Well, before the AMD Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT, we've never seen graphics cards this affordable that can provide such amazing performance in this price range. But, no matter how awesome these graphics cards are, it can be hard to decide once and for all which AMD graphics card is best for you – especially when they're priced so closely together. Luckily, here at TechRadar we've spent an inordinate amount of time obsessing over the best graphics card, so we can help you decide whether to go with the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or the Radeon RX 5700. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7Tv6Bix8MbVMJbEFoDw7j9.jpg The dent in the RX 5700 XT is supposed to be there Price and specificationsThe AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT and Radeon RX 5700 are actually priced extremely close to one another - there's just a $50 (about £40, AU$70) difference between the two, at $399 (about £315, AU$580) and $349 (about £275, AU$500), respectively. And, because the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT offers 4 more compute units, with just 256 more stream processors, you're paying 13% more for just 9% more raw horsepower. However, because the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT has a higher "game clock" at 1,755 MHz vs the 5700's 1,525MHz, you should be getting a bit more performance out of the more expensive graphics card. However beyond clock speeds and stream processors, these two graphics cards are essentially the same. On both the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT and Radeon RX 5700, you're getting 64 ROP units, 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM clocked at 14Gbps. Just based on the specs, the AMD Radeon RX 5700 easily comes out on top – $50 might not seem like a lot, but that's most of a new PC game. Plus, you get the same bonus 3-month subscription to Xbox Games Pass on PC with either one. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/FgpnNQjeSAHz4JWMDAGU8E.jpg All the ports you'll need in the AMD Radeon RX 5700 PerformanceIn terms of raw performance, the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT is definitely the winner... but not by much. In our testing, the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT is between 4-11% faster than the AMD Radeon RX 5700. Again, when you're paying 13% more for the faster card, that small of a delta in performance just doesn't make much sense. For instance, in Metro Exodus at 4K Ultra settings, the AMD Radeon RX 5700 averaged 29 fps, compared to the Radeon RX 5700 XT's 30 fps. That's literally one frame more for $50. In synthetic benchmarks the spread is a little more noticeable. In TimeSpy Extreme, for instance, the Radeon RX 5700 XT scored 4,119 points, compared to the 5700's 3,753. That's a 9% performance difference, but that's still a bit small for the price difference. On the other side of things, that performance delta also comes with a difference in power draw and temperatures. The AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT drew as much as 197 watts, while the RX 5700 topped out at 153W – 23% less power than the XT. At the end of the day, the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT is the more powerful graphics card, but for most people we'd recommend the AMD Radeon RX 5700 instead. That $50 price difference likely isn't worth that small of a performance uplift. http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vEkcTKzd6AJAbSYziwqNh9.jpg It wouldn't be a flagship without a pretty box AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT vs AMD Radeon RX 5700: which should you buy?We couldn't be happier that AMD Navi has finally arrived, but in our eyes it's easy to see that the Radeon RX 5700 is simply the better value for most people. That said, both of these cards will get you absolutely amazing performance at 1440p, and both have the same amount of VRAM and memory speed. If you're looking for the best possible performance out of the two, the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT is the obvious winner – it's going to be around 10% faster most of the time. But, if you ask us, the best graphics card for most people is one that balances excellent performance with great value, and the winner there is easily the AMD Radeon RX 5700. Still, either of these cards will give you a great 1440p PC gaming experience, so you really can't go wrong – it's just a question of what you want to spend that extra 50 bucks or quid on. We'll show you how to build a gaming PChttp://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/techradar/digital-home/~4/T5V3-KwUWZ4
