Need help with creating ET wav sounds

Dear community.
I have for the recent days struggled with a rather unpleasent problem that I cannot seem to fix...
I'm trying to create for my server .wav files to replace certain sounds (like last 30 seconds of map)
and about 99% of my attempts are unsuccesful. I have pk3 file with the right folders and know where the files go just that in ET i get weird errors about "chunk" and PCM. I was able to use a song only once and I don't have any idea why it worked because every other time absolutely same quality songs don't work at all.
Programs I used
Audacity - many tests, different export settings, sound quality settings..
Audacity offers many settings and none seem to work, tried many custom ones
The time I got a song to work did not make any sense either as in audacity all of the songs had exactly the same quality and were mp3 which i exported to .wav. I assume this is the right thing to do but why only once it worked ?
I followed tutorials that said to use MONO, PCM wav, different sound quality
Need help from someone experienced

Hi Sartax,

Download the program called: "Wavosaur". Its a free program.

http://www.wavosaur.com/

Open a high quality mp3 and cut the file (mostly 30 seconds).

All these options below should be at the top.

Make sure you MONO the file: Process > convert to mono > mix all channels

Set the bitrate to 8 bit: Process > bit depth convertor > 8bit

Resample the file to 22500 KHZ: Processs > Resample > 22500 KHZ

Now click save as .wav and the file should be arround 600,700,800KB depending on the length of your file.

Download pakscape:

http://eliteforce2.filefront.com/file/;1327

Make a new folder like sound/misc/yourfilename.wav and save it into a pk3 file. However if you want to have it like the last 30 seconds. You need to look up into the etmain folder and open pak0.pk3 with pakscape to see what path u need to set for the pk3 file. If its not working for you let me know and upload your file, so i will do it for you.

Regards,

Dennis
