It's a weird thing to think everyone else but you would be so dumb that they just mindlessly click on any button they are presented. Or that they wouldn't be able to connect to your server without a button. They managed to connect to the server without a button in the first place. Or that players couldn't handle using the server browser. I don't know any game where it is actually required to have modified game menus to get players connect to a community server. So I don't believe it at all if someone claims their server needs a button to the game main menu to get players to join their server. What we can do, is to see if we can make favorited servers more accessible or better known in a future release. In ways like adding "Favorite Server" button to the main menu while on the server. You can also offer regulars a modified menu at your forum, which they can add at their own free will. But this discussion is going in circles and I must ask that we will keep this thread clean for information to those who are testing the new version.

Sorry I don't think anyone from the moderator team speaks french so there can't be a french translation in this thread.

It is not AC related. There is no "fix" and if admins refuse to update their servers, it will cause issues that are obviously well deserved. It is not a flaw to not support deprecated versions. That is how all software works when there is no plan for maintaining the older versions. You are obviously free to choose what ever mod you desire for your server. If you feel your private mod is better than silEnT, it sounds like there is no problem for your server then.

Purple please stop crying already. There are no game play changes or feature removals between 0.8.2 and 0.9.0. The menus were a huge problem. It is the most complained issue on all ET forums and for a reason. Even ET Legacy added a command to mitigate the problem and you did yourself a small script to mitigate this issue that shouldn't even exist. Only a very few most responsible admins didn't force altered offline menus. Some admins had only a button and some admins did something reasonably clean with a second menu. But many times after visiting a random server there were huge changes to the menus. Things that can't be given a blind eye. Most of them are only intended to trip the players. The worse ones even change the game behavior in various ways. You need to think about it from the player point of view. You have a server you like yourself and some others also, but most players don't like your server. Why should they have to see your crap when they are not playing on your server. Adding command to ET Legacy is a good thing, but it's only cleaning after the fact. It doesn't do anything to fix the problem.

We are ass fucking an admin who is ass fucking players. It really does start to sound like that is what we are doing. At least on your case. We should have done it years ago to be honest. One of my biggest regrets is that we didn't do anything to the menu problem when we first discussed about these modifications internally several versions ago. Most of the people are the players, not a server admin who seems to think all the players are zombies for his pleasure. You should start thinking about the players first.

Don't try to kid. It's because you feel trolling gives you most attention and makes you look like an expert of some sort.

I think we can close this thing with you. I believe you will get yourself another mod from now. That is what you already said you would do.

No. There is no problem connecting to 0.9.0 servers. The 0.8.2 is deprecated as soon as we release the 0.9.0.

What silencer meant to say, is that it is a bug, but it's not a code change we have done. We have a build system that produces a binary with the bug. We can also build without it. You will get a server binary without the bug soon. Finding out why we have a problem with the usual build system is still unclear. Thank you for the offer to help anyway.

BettyBoop reacted to Night Hunter in New credit cards aim to protect consumers
US consumers are about to get a new defense against cybercrime. The armor will take the form of credit and debit cards with a built-in chip, which retailers must be able to read as of Thursday.

Short for EuroPay, MasterCard and Visa, EMV chips create a one-time-use code needed for each purchase, which makes stolen card numbers less valuable on the black market. Consumers may see slightly longer transaction times as in-store readers run the EMV cards, assuming merchants have set up the new payment terminals in time.

Industry watchers don't expect every merchant to meet Thursday's deadline, which was set last year by MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. Retailers do have an incentive to act quickly, though. Stores that don't have EMV-reading terminals will need to make good on in-store purchases made with counterfeit cards. ATMs and gas pumps will face the same liabilities in 2017.

The card companies wrote that rule after cybercriminals stole about 40 million credit and debit card numbers from the payment system of retailer Target during the 2013 holiday-shopping season. Currently, the banks that issue cards are on the hook for fraudulent charges.

There are two ways hackers steal sensitive information. They can use card skimmers to read a card's magnetic stripe at an ATM or gas pump. They can also penetrate retailers' corporate information systems, as they have with Target, Home Depot, Neiman Marcus and many others, to copy card numbers. Those stolen numbers can be used on fake cards to make fraudulent purchases. Two-thirds of fraudulent purchases inside stores are made with counterfeit cards, said Stephanie Ericksen, Visa's vice president of risk products. Authentic cards that were stolen account for the other third.

That's where these new chip cards can help. Because the chips send encrypted, one-time codes for each transaction, the cards are harder for fraudsters to read and duplicate, experts say. While the cards are just rolling out in the US, the technology isn't new. Europe started using cards with embedded chips in 2005. Apple Pay and Android Pay mobile payments work on the same underlying rules.

Despite the impending retailer deadline, many consumers still don't know about the new kinds of cards. In an August survey by electronic payments company ACI Worldwide, 59 percent of consumers reported they hadn't received credit cards with EMV chips. Only a third knew the United States is shifting toward chip readers. What's more, only 27 percent of merchants are prepared for the October deadline for card reader technology, according to a report released in mid-September by the Strawhecker Group, a consulting firm for the payments industry.

Experts say the slow rollout could be due to the cost of new card-reading equipment. Merchants must weigh the expense of buying new payment systems and training employees on that gear against the unknown hit from fraudulent charges. Some may even consider their new liabilities the cost of doing business.

Consumers will need to adapt to the new system too, experts said.

"There may be some initial inconvenience at the point of sale," said TJ Horan, vice president of product management at FICO, which helps banks determine a consumer's credit risk.

Despite the increased security, industry watchers don't expect card fraud to disappear. Horan likens it to squeezing a water balloon: If you push fraud out of the system in one place, it will simply shift somewhere else.

Clarification, 8:55 a.m. PT: The name of parent company ACI Worldwide has been added.

Country flags aren't showing up anymore since the lastest upgrade, we're getting the omnibot flag. The command !country always replies localhost, while !finger indicates our real IP.

    Notes:
It is running Debian 7 It has direct access to internet. Flags & !country were working with 0.8.2. My GeoIP.dat is up to date with correct permissions. Did I miss something, or is it a bug ? Any help is welcome.

    Thanks.

So issue resolved? If your server is up for long run then commands send through rcon tool wouldn't be responded back because I think there is an issue in ET 3.00. Even I have faced same issue on my hardcore server.

But if you use qtracker and connect at same time then you might be sending connection packets more then xx times within xx seconds and hence you are facing that issue.

I would suggest to join server first then minimize ET and then start any tool to use rcon on your server. This way you wouldn't exceed packets / second.

Topcat, it would be nice if you can create new topic for each issue/question so when someone else is looking for similar question/answer they can find relevant answer easily rather then going through all posts.

This way it would help future admins to. You can create 50 different topics regarding 50 different issue and there is no problem in that. Community and other admins are here to help you.

    I was using these settings:
    set g_minAirstrikeTime 30
    set g_minArtyTime 50
The values are in seconds and doesn't matter if Field ops charge bar is full, from what I understand if two field ops are on same team they can only call airstrike every 30 seconds or arty every 50 seconds regardless of charge bar.
Now I can mess with their charging also, cool.
