He means client changing his GUID. He just doesn't bother giving proper answers as you may have noticed.
-
Before anyone locks himself out from his server. You get the MAC address from the latest hop, which is needed for routing. Not from the client machine.
-
You have modified the official menus. That is not allowed. You need to make the additional menu in the way it is described in the Wiki: http://mygamingtalk.com/wiki/Silent_Creating_Custom_Menu
-
It's the forum software getting out of date and the bug tracker is not updateable to the new version. Please use the bug reporting forum instead.

The answer is still the same as in my first post. Neither is possible. If you would have been clearer on what you wish to edit in the database someone might have been able to help you reach a solution. There is a !readadmins command that can be used to read some admin data from a cfg file and/or you could create Lua script that can access text files and modify the database to some extent. Asking about if there is a way to shell script the user database files sounds quite a bit of an XY problem. http://xyproblem.info/

What was the point of you adding features to the 0.9.0?
gaoesa replied to Sol's topic in General Discussion
No and once you look at the features you will know why. To the topic. We wanted to add some advanced features for admins. We are fully aware everyone doesn't need or want them. That is why we made them loadeble so not to drag down the actual game library by performance or by external dependencies. The way we did them also enables us to create new ones for other tasks using the same template. -
We are happy to help with all questions regarding how to setup the server.
-
There is wiki information http://mygamingtalk.com/wiki/Silent_Creating_Custom_Menu and the logs have exact error reports as well.
-
This is a TrackBase issue. They have tracking enabled case by case to every mod and mod version, so they just havent enabled it for the 0.9.0 yet.
-
Because server admins have no business modifying the client menus. There is obviously good use for menus while players are on the servers, which is what the addtional menus provide. Also, in some cases admins have modified the silent menus and because of that, some new client features for players have not been available from the menus. This matter has been discussed to the death now.

Thank you. I don't know. There is nothing going on at the moment for that. We have nothing against that either. Since the module can talk with any PostgreSQL database, even non local ones, it would be possible to talk directly to some external database server, possibly provided by TrackBase. We don't oppose adding specific functionality for the TrackBase/Splatterladder to the module either, as long as it doesn't create licensing issues.

No and no. How would you shell script the user database? The question sounds weird.

Is your fs_homePath cvar correctly set on your server?
-
If that is not the directory you have in your cvar, you possibly need to restart your server. I don't remember if there is that kind of requirement for changing the screenshots directory cvar. Or you can create the directory named "screenshots", which is the default value for the g_ssDirectory cvar. Another thing I notice is that you have silent twice in the path.
-
What is your screen resolution? EDIT: Well, it reports it to be successful so it's probably not that. Can you join here: "/connect himalia.fi" so I can take one from you as well.
-
There is always prints in the cheat log when it takes screenshots. Your own screenshot displays it reports to you so the command should be fine and also that there certainly should be something about it in the cheat log.
-
Please read the g_cheatLog entries about the screenshot if there is something about it.
-
There is no g_XPSaveFile cvar. Your problem is that your launching the mod with the map command, when the g_XPSave is 0, and only after that you execute the server.cfg, which sets the correct value for it. You need to have the g_XPSave value set before the mod launches. You should read the Wiki for installation instructions and cvars.

The ET Launcher includes raw input, minimizer and saveable startup settings including screen resolutions. But no pk3 cleaner, since I don't force menu downloads and there are plenty of scripts for doing it. I can also do it by hand. The launcher is also white listed by Norton these days, just haven't updated the thread regarding that part. But I don't want to use mygamingtalk for advertising because I prefer all admins to be here on equal platform. Again the thread has derailed from the topic with no real purpose.

It's a weird thing to think everyone else but you would be so dumb that they just mindlessly click on any button they are presented. Or that they wouldn't be able to connect to your server without a button. They managed to connect to the server without a button in the first place. Or that players couldn't handle using the server browser. I don't know any game where it is actually required to have modified game menus to get players connect to a community server. So I don't believe it at all if someone claims their server needs a button to the game main menu to get players to join their server. What we can do, is to see if we can make favorited servers more accessible or better known in a future release. In ways like adding "Favorite Server" button to the main menu while on the server. You can also offer regulars a modified menu at your forum, which they can add at their own free will. But this discussion is going in circles and I must ask that we will keep this thread clean for information to those who are testing the new version. Sorry I don't think anyone from the moderator team speaks french so there can't be a french translation in this thread.

Purple please stop crying already. There are no game play changes or feature removals between 0.8.2 and 0.9.0. The menus were a huge problem. It is the most complained issue on all ET forums and for a reason. Even ET Legacy added a command to mitigate the problem and you did yourself a small script to mitigate this issue that shouldn't even exist. Only a very few most responsible admins didn't force altered offline menus. Some admins had only a button and some admins did something reasonably clean with a second menu. But many times after visiting a random server there were huge changes to the menus. Things that can't be given a blind eye. Most of them are only intended to trip the players. The worse ones even change the game behavior in various ways. You need to think about it from the player point of view. You have a server you like yourself and some others also, but most players don't like your server. Why should they have to see your crap when they are not playing on your server. Adding command to ET Legacy is a good thing, but it's only cleaning after the fact. It doesn't do anything to fix the problem. We are ass fucking an admin who is ass fucking players. It really does start to sound like that is what we are doing. At least on your case. We should have done it years ago to be honest. One of my biggest regrets is that we didn't do anything to the menu problem when we first discussed about these modifications internally several versions ago. Most of the people are the players, not a server admin who seems to think all the players are zombies for his pleasure. You should start thinking about the players first. Don't try to kid. It's because you feel trolling gives you most attention and makes you look like an expert of some sort. I think we can close this thing with you. I believe you will get yourself another mod from now. That is what you already said you would do.
-
This was a side effect for fixing the menu systems. I understand there can be a few days delay before all active servers update and it is unfortunate. However, there is nothing we can do to prevent it and I also think this is made out to be a bigger problem than it is. Just update the server. The players will realize they can connect to 0.9.0 but not to 0.8.2.
-
It is not AC related. There is no "fix" and if admins refuse to update their servers, it will cause issues that are obviously well deserved. It is not a flaw to not support deprecated versions. That is how all software works when there is no plan for maintaining the older versions. You are obviously free to choose what ever mod you desire for your server. If you feel your private mod is better than silEnT, it sounds like there is no problem for your server then.
-
No. There is no problem connecting to 0.9.0 servers. The 0.8.2 is deprecated as soon as we release the 0.9.0.
-
Yes. After you play on 0.9.0 server, you must remove the client binaries from the silent directory before joining 0.8.2 server.
