I thought I had saw the thread somewhere, but just can't find it.

 

I am looking to switch my Jaymod server to run the Silent 0.5.0 version. Is there a way to keep XP in there somewhere? I would, and I am sure many players would too, to keep the XP on the server that they have built over time.

Everything that I have noticed in the enhanced mod is basically already in silent mod. I noticed that it is basically there to make Jaymod more like etpub in a way

In other words, not having a download server currently is doing this...

I am having issues with players downloading at a slow rate. Some taking 20 minutes just to upload a map. I had initially thought maybe it was a client side issue, but when 3 people are having the same issue, it seems as if it is a server-side issue. What should I be looking for to fix on this? What config files, cvars, etc.?

I would assume that K/D ratio would just be Kills divided by Deaths...

You should try hitting the TAB key a few times (a bunch).. Sometimes, the default thing you are looking at is the Player Rating which seems to be what you are explaining. Silent Mod scrolls through K/D, P/R and XP. See if that works and let us know. I just have the feeling with the numbers you are explaining that it is the Player Rating.

I like the coverts like that better. It's more realistic and a better use for the covert. There should be a hit sound that recognizes if it is a teammate anyways. There are many ways you can tell whether it is a covert or not. Make your teammate in your fireteam and press 0 and it will put a little icon over their head.

That could very well just be the map itself. The map actually might stop above you at that point and you are running into it. I don't think that is a mod or server issue, but i could be wrong.

 

One last thing to note is that your custom pk3 must load after the official one or else they will just get overridden by the default sounds again.

Does Gameservers host redirect servers?

How can I get a download page for pk3 downloads on the server? The server I am wanting to set up will have the downloads connected to it and I need a download page to run it off of there. How much do they typically cost and where can I get one from?

I thought that message appears when they are downloading a file out of your download url? As in when you are connecting, it says you connected, but when you start downloading, it says you disconnected download mode?

I need to get my computer back up and running from Thanksgiving Break... so I can get this uploaded!

1-2 servers, between 14-24 slots.

Hmm... okay.. so let me see what you would suggest here. I am not a computer programmer, nor am I majoring in college for it. I like to do stuff like this for fun on the side as a hobby (kinda like JayBird... but I stick with it a bit more). Would it be practical to purchase a dedicated server like this? or should I stick to something more like gameservers that offers the support and what not that I would need more of? Are there other websites like gameservers that offer the servers like that for ET? Or is gameservers the only one?

 

Sorry for the many amounts of questions, but I just want to make sure I am getting what I really want before I make a decision.

I would like it to be hosted somewhere on the East Coast of the US, since that is where I am from and where a lot of our clan is from. If you purchase the dedicated servers, would you actually get the hardware to install into your computer? Or is it in a machine somewhere else?

 

I feel as if running a server off of gameservers would sometimes be better because there is support for it, however, I know there are times that they will crash and the server could be down for a day or so, where our dedicated server is running just fine.

 

The main reason I am looking more into this is because our current dedicated server is running 2 mods and our teamspeak server, which slows it down and lags my server. I am getting complaints that it is a bit laggy and the people that play it more often are actually from the US, and not Germnay, which is where it is currently located.

So I am looking into buying a server to run ET. I have seen many of the ads for Baltic Servers, but have not messed with things like that before. Before, I had always just used gameservers to run servers, but is it cheaper to actually buy the hardware and set it up that way? Someone from our clan does something similar to this now and runs a dedicated server that hosts our silent, etpro and teamspeak servers on it.

 

If I would buy something from Balticservers, would I just need to buy the hardware and install it into my computer?

How many cells would I need to purchase?
